MARATHONLAUF IM KLEINSTEN LAND DER WELT
Neu in der 2. Auflage mit 10 km- sowie Halbmarathon-Lauf im Angebot
Durch Zufall im letzten Jahr wurde ich im Internet entdeckt, dass es ein weiterer Marathonlauf ein Tag später nach dem Rom-Marathon in der Vatikanstadt gab. Diesen kleinen, offiziellen Lauf wurde von einem US-amerikanischen Team (StarRace.org) durchgeführt. Ich wollte auch bei dieser Premiere im letzten Jahr mitmachen, leider war die Anmeldung schon längst geschlossen.
Mit dem 2. "Vatican Express Marathon" wollte ich einen weiteren Länderpunkt garantieren und das Besondere war so, dass ein Lauf im Hoheitsgebiet mit nur 44 ha großen Zwergenstaat sich befand und somit zu den kleinsten Staat der Erde ist.
Im August 2023 hatte ich für meine Frau sowie für mich gleich angemeldet und die Vorfreude war schon da.
Am Ende war das für alle eine große Freude sowie in voller Zufriedenheit - mit einem angemessenen Startgeld von 60 $ war für alle Finisher mit einem schönen Finishershirt bzw. mit einer hübeschen Erinnerungsmedaille sowie die Wasserversorgung inbegriffen. Das war super...
Der Startschuss nach einem Gruppenfoto war am Obelisk am Vorplatz des Vatikans und nach einem weiteren ca. 750 m-Laufweg in die Richtung Engelsburg begann für uns ein 1,6 Kilometer-Laufkurs hin und zurück auf dem Radweg am Tiber.
Am Wendepunkt war jemanden zu sehen, wo die Rundenzählungen an den Startnummern gesehen bzw. in die Liste eintragen wurde.
Das Laufwetter war mit einer frühlingshaften Temperatur bei bedecktem Himmel sehr angenehm.
Kaum Wind war das unten zu spüren..
Alles hatte uns sehr gut gefallen und wir können jedem diesen einzigartig tollen Laufevent weiterempfehlen.
BESTEN DANK an das Orga- sowie Helferteam und HERZLICHE GLÜCKWÜNSCHE an allen Finishern - alle waren Gewinner an diesem Montag!

MARATHON RUN IN THE SMALLEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD
New in the 2nd edition with 10 km and half marathon runs on offer
By chance last year I discovered on the Internet that there was another marathon running a day later after the Rome Marathon in Vatican City. This small, official run was carried out by a US team (StarRace.org). I also wanted to take part in this premiere last year, but unfortunately registration was closed long ago.
With the 2nd "Vatican Express Marathon" I wanted to guarantee another country point and the special thing was that a run was in the territory of a dwarf state that was only 44 hectares in size and is therefore one of the smallest states on earth.
In August 2023 I registered for my wife and myself and the anticipation was already there.
In the end it was a great joy and complete satisfaction for everyone - with a reasonable entry fee of $60, all finishers were given a nice finisher's shirt or a nice commemorative medal as well as water supply. That was great...
The starting signal after a group photo was at the obelisk in the forecourt of the Vatican and after another 750 m run in the direction of Castel Sant'Angelo we began a 1.6 kilometer run there and back on the cycle path on the Tiber.
At the turning point someone could be seen, where the lap counts were seen on the start numbers or entered into the list.
The running weather was very pleasant with a spring-like temperature and overcast skies.
There was hardly any wind down below.
We really enjoyed everything and can recommend this uniquely great running event to everyone.
