    The fact that you got to the meat of the thing first, weight and set up time, is awesome. Great job, better than all the other "reviews" of this bike that go on and on without much substance. See if you can address some of the complaints in Amazon comments in your "official" review. Thanks.

    Amazon has then for 419.99! I bought one and just took it out today. I weight 211 pounds. Add clothes and a little more. It carries me fine. Not a hill climber for sure but I'm happy.

      Good deal. This bike is built solid.

    As a person of some fatness, the 120 kg max weight is encouraging. Most folders are 100 kg or 110 kg, even ones like the Tern with 26" wheels!
    OTOH, the potholes in Ottawa would swallow those little wheels whole.

    Did you end up making a usage review? I came across your channel due to recycling content. Did you consider a DIY e-bike using recovered motors and lithium bateries?

  • @fun_ghoul
    @fun_ghoul 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If the info I found online is correct about the battery (36V nominal, 7.8Ah), it cannot travel by air, period. The IATA limit (UN3481, if I recall correctly) is 100Wh.

    • @mychevysparkevdidntcatchfi1489
      @mychevysparkevdidntcatchfi1489 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can ship via air if it's discharged to less than 30% and weighs under 35kg and not packed with other "dangerous" material in cargo aircraft (not passenger aircraft). See flow chart in page 7 of IATA 2019 Lithium Battery Guidance Document, Revision 1. Given that the whole bike with shipping stuff weighs 40 lb (18 kg), it should be able to ship IF you discharge the battery below 30% and use cargo plane.

      @@mychevysparkevdidntcatchfi1489 Nobody will pack their bike in UN packaging with full DG labelling _and_ contract a cargo plane to ship a bike for a vacation. Even sending via FedEx/UPS (assuming you can convince them to accept the shipment...they often refuse), it would cost more than the bike does.
      No battery? No problem. You could put it in your carry-ons.

    15.5 MPH is the top legal speed in the UK. IOW, they're shooting for the lowest common denominator.

    • @vuaeco
      @vuaeco  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL! Now I know where that figure comes from. What about the EB7? It goes at 18+ MPH?

    • @fun_ghoul
      @fun_ghoul 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vuaeco Maybe that model isn't sold in the UK? The US federal limit is 20 mph, and Canada is the same but metric (32 km/h).
      It's all kinda stupid tho, because the US also allows up to 750 watts (a.k.a. 1 horsepower), but Canada is only 500W and the EU is 250W. I remember reading about 250W Bionx owners turning off the speed limiter in the controller, but only went 2-3 km/h faster (about 35 km/h).

    Why did you get the eb5 instead of eb7. Removable battery seems important, no? Looking forward to your review.

    • @fun_ghoul
      @fun_ghoul 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's important if you travel by air, for sure. The battery in this thing exceeds the IATA watt-hour limit by almost 3x.

    • @vuaeco
      @vuaeco  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The battery might be removable on the EB5 with a little bit of work.

      @@fun_ghoul The battery on the EB5 is removable. It's just 3 screws more than the EB7! And maybe an extra XT60 connector! :D

    Nice bike for taking on a train or bus. It’s so small 265 lbs carry weight seems over rated 200 is more reasonable. I have a Rad mini and very happy with it. I hear Rad mini 750w is more like a 500w set up but it draws 780w peak and will go continuous 750w with out overheating and I’ve gone up 15 degree incline easy so...I don’t understand why (Bolton Bikes uTube) thinks this. I mean there are different size magnets and copper wrapping l’ve read that will make a better 750w but my bike 750w is ok. Anyway it is more about torque then speed as I’m in California (USA) and can’t go over 20 mph. I’m thinking of putting in a 30amp controller should make torque even better. Back to your bike it’s a good bike one has to see it for what it is and the price point. It has it’s uses and purpose.

      Unless you're running a 24V battery, 30A will smoke any geared hub. Better to increase the voltage on the same current.

    • @DanielLopes-jt8yl
      @DanielLopes-jt8yl 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Got 48v 14 amp hour battery so as far as my reading goes should be ok with 750w hub. I’ll double check that. There is a 20 amp controller on it now. Maybe I go with 25 amp controller. Just want more torque for hills. Again will double check compatibility controller to hub. Thanks man!

    If it really would take my 120kg arse up a 25-degree incline hill on throttle only, that's impressive. Yay, small wheels!

    • @vuaeco
      @vuaeco  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep! I imagine a 120Kg donkey going up that steep hill on that bike! Small wheels help as it increases the torque. The throttle does seem very speedy.
