Coach, I feel l like your tutorials will be more effective if we saw game footage of the move, slowed and broken down and , analyzed on how the defense responds etc... The clip doesn't have to be long.I just feel like people learn better when they see game play . Respond plz! Spam the like button if you agree ,so he can notice ;the comment!!!
I agree with you man. I think after he is done breaking down each step, he should go, "Okay, now this is what it would like like in a live setting" And then proceeds to do all of the steps he broke down as the move was intended to be done, you know? I think that would help immensely. Not necessarily in a game, but in a live setting would be perfect
Formidable Zoasta Well Actually, There Is An Option To Do That - Go To Settings - Then Go To Playback and it’ll give u the option by 5x to give u slow motion

+dabbingpanda lol that means your teamates don't trust you and its not about scoring its about getting wins not points and don't blame anything on your teamates you're the point guard and the leader of the team and if you want the ball you demand it and go it not complain
I've been using this move in my entire life playing basketball, but the only one I know to do is the first move you teach. I just wanna say thank you for enlightened me. Now i know how to do the the differnt moves of pivot footwork.
I am trying to learn the pivot footwork, and I have viewed this vid several times. Each time I pick up something else, but I think I am slowly getting it. I did use the high rip in a game last night, because I saw the defender's hand was low, and it worked very well. I gained some space, took a shot and made it. So thanks for the vid.
Love your vids, I am getting to be an older player and my mind and most of my body can still run with the 25yr old hoopers but inevitably I am slowing down and my vert is pretty much gone. Any vids pertaining to re elevating the vert for an old man? Also, video on angles would be nice!
How come Coach raises his knee at 9:25 but not at 8:51, is it just a preference? Also is it a travel if you really use that knee to propel you up seeing as it is the pivoting knee? Technically that's what one does in a layup.
I didn't even notice that he says you have to shoot before lifting the pivot at 8:51! Most people who are confused about the step through rules will at least let you jump off both feet! Wild. He's contradicting himself in those two examples. His one footed jump at 9:25 is legal, but he says at 8:51 that you're not even allowed to jump off two feet, let alone 1
Im so late but may you please do another breakdown of how to hesitate and drive/shoot and also a step around move and other useful moves thats can be used on fast breaks to avoid charges.
Look at how other ppl shoot and where they shoot it from. Rebounding is about your positioning. If the ball is shot from the corner 3 and ends up on the other side, stay in that area where it'll bounce to you, it'll be easier to get it for yourself. The ball and rim usually works together, figure out how it bounces off each other. The blocking is just staying close to your opponent and blocking with the opposite hand they shoot from. You can't block a shot with your hand if they're shooting with their right, becuz it'll cause too much space to be created. But if you block with your left when he shooting from the right, it'll close that space between your hand and the ball.
solution for that is to keep practicing.Keep on practicing your confidence will go up on every shot and that will minimize your chance of missing the shots that you practice every time
Fierce Folder everytime I play with confidence I go off. But when I'm not i suck. To build my confidence I post up and run the court. Hustle plays get my going to.
Hey coach, first I want to say your videos really help me a lot and I am about to start middle school basketball soon.. The 7th and 8th graders are pretty good and I'm wondering if you can help me with my shot or help me be able to be in the starting lineup for my school team..
I did pretty well, I did one handed dribbles and that was pretty great. The shooting was awesome and I feel more confident now. Thanks and good luck in ms b ball
Josie Zephir drive to the basket... If they realize you can finish at the rim too they will let you more space cause they will be scared to let you go closer or simply jump higher and get a better shooting form but the most important is to take smart shot ex: pump fake dribble shoot or do a step back
Josie Zephir For ISO shot creation: learn how to sell fakes to get ur defender moving in the opposite direction. A good move is a step back, which when done properly has u jabbing so the defender expects a drive, then stepping back, resulting in an open look as the defender is left behind. Shooting form: if ur shooting a push shot from ur chest, if ur strong enough, practice bringing the bottom of the ball to ur eyebrow before shooting. Also practice a very quick, smooth release, just like how Steph Curry shoots. If u shoot it faster it can help consistency as well as range and of course gives the defender less time to contest the shot. Everything else: learn how to get shots off a screen, or move around relentlessly on offense so u can leave ur defender in the dust and get an open look from a teammate. Be sure ur going to a place that gives ur teammate a good pass. For example, if he's driving to the left but defenders are ready to block his layup, get ur ass to the left wing QUICK so that he can kick it out to you... Or maybe if a teammate has a defender ready to contest his shot, get to a place where he can pass it easily and effectively and where you will have a good look. This ties in to the basics of basketball IQ, which is basically knowing what to do and where to go in a given situation during a game. Sometimes u might want to drive, other times shoot. I'm just telling u how to get shots up
great video! just a quick question… i saw sometimes you’d lift your pivot foot and shoot off the other foot in some of the later exercises. is that a travel? or am i allowed to take 1 step off the pivot if i’m about to shoot?
we all know we need to dribble the ball before stepping, but in the case of a pivot position will it be called travel if you step first before dribbling??
Do you have to jump off 2 feet for a step through to be legal or can you step through on your non planted foot ? Huge debate I had with a trainer devininthelab. He was stating it to be legal to take an extra step off the pivot as long as the planted foot doesnt return to the playing court before you release the ball. My argument was, wouldn't that be called a travel if I was in the post after picking up my dribble and I was to take the same step through but on a fadeaway shot? I know that MJ & Kobe, the pioneers of the post moves, never took a step through when trying to hit a fadeaway shot, so shouldn't the same rule apply to a layup if you were to step through, it has to be off of 2 feet?
9:34 i'll never ever understand why lifting the pivot foot like that on the hook is not a travel :P like, it's actually never called. legal move, but it kinda contradicts the rule. haha that aside, great video! thanks for sharing your knowledge
When starting a dribble lifting the pivot before the ball leaves your hand is a traveling violation. On a pass or shot it is legal to do so as long as the ball leaves your hand before your pivot contacts the floor again. Example: When shooting a layup on tbe move.the one/two step action is legal. If you commit a 3rd step (pivot down again) it is a violation.
Hey coach. I’m in 8th grade and it’s my first year playing. I’m 5”8 and 180. Big and fat. I’m not very good at basketball and when I get the ball, I get it stolen or always mess up on between the legs or crossovers. Can you link me to some very basic stuff?

Most people underestimate the pivot move. But lowkey lethal if you know how to use them properly.
Kobe’s one of the few people who mastered the pivot. He was the best
Kobe was fantastic at this.

I always like the video before it starts because I know the video is gonna be good before I even watch it
Great stuff coach Colin! Love this. Nobody really talks about pivots
So sleek and useful! I'm definitely going to try these out next training session. Thanks mate!
I've always had good footwork cause of all the basketball games I watch but it's always great to watch coach and see if I can learn new moves

Love your vids, I am getting to be an older player and my mind and most of my body can still run with the 25yr old hoopers but inevitably I am slowing down and my vert is pretty much gone.
Any vids pertaining to re elevating the vert for an old man? Also, video on angles would be nice!
I like these learning series a lot. I'd like to see something that would help with a first step to get past defenders.

Im so late but may you please do another breakdown of how to hesitate and drive/shoot and also a step around move and other useful moves thats can be used on fast breaks to avoid charges.
usefulness lesson I Learned a lot about footwork especially pivot footwork😂😇👏🏀
I'm not sure if you have a video on it, pls do a rebound or blocking tutorial... I'm 5'9. Playing against 6'3 players
Haven't done much on that but we're planning on it!
King Js best thing to do is get weight room ready work on your shoulders and upper leg strength for a quicker jump
I'm 5'7 btw benching 235 it helps a lot when you can bully em you'll be surprised by the outcome

All these guys have some good ideas. Hmu 774-434-2844 I'll give you some tips. I'm 5'7 myself

Can you do Demar Derozan and Devin Booker of the curl mid range analysis plz
Great video .
Can you do a video on how to gain confidence or get over missed shots? I don't know if you have a video on it yet.
solution for that is to keep practicing.Keep on practicing your confidence will go up on every shot and that will minimize your chance of missing the shots that you practice every time

Ok, I'll try that
I want to improve my inside and outside shooting, coach can you please make a video on it
how to improve finishing during layup ..
Coach, it seems to me that your pivot foot slid across the floor at 6:50-6:54. Am I mistaken, or did you just commit a travelling violation?
Hey coach, first I want to say your videos really help me a lot and I am about to start middle school basketball soon.. The 7th and 8th graders are pretty good and I'm wondering if you can help me with my shot or help me be able to be in the starting lineup for my school team..
dabbingpanda lol I'm terrible at shooting high.. And how could I create space? Thanks btw
Thanks man.. Really appreciate it.. How can I practice step backs?
You are? Nice same and thanks so much.. You have any suggestions for breaking ankles?
Sweet thanks I'm going to go practice tomorrow, I'll tell you how I do, thanks

This move is my favorite and very deadly when its come to mid range no doubt about it and after pivot combine with a kobe's jumshot haha.
Nice video, thanks

great video! just a quick question… i saw sometimes you’d lift your pivot foot and shoot off the other foot in some of the later exercises. is that a travel? or am i allowed to take 1 step off the pivot if i’m about to shoot?
You can lift your pivot to pass or shoot! You just can’t replant it on the floor! The classic up & under is a prime example!
Great stuff but a great teaching point is to pivot/jab/step towards the basket not wide.
Video on shooting over taller defenders.
Awesome video... Just subbed and liked..
Are you allowed to Jab step when you catch the ball .. then dribble ?
RIP Kobe
Great video
Great vid
i didn't learn anything LMAO but enjoyed the proper foundation explaination that you did a run-down on techniques

u think u could make a video about fade aways?
Thanks coach
Thnx for this
Uhm i have a question can you do pivot foot without passing it to you and jumping?
Isn't it a travel? When you jumping not from a both legs in the same time after pivot?
Coach, how to avoid traveling violation, on your pivot
Rip Kobe
you can lift your pivot foot after the up and under. you just can't bring it back down with the ball in your hands.
I need to work on my pivot like crazy,, thought i had it down the our first practice i was confused and acted as if i didn’t know how to pivot.
Do you have to jump off 2 feet for a step through to be legal or can you step through on your non planted foot ? Huge debate I had with a trainer devininthelab. He was stating it to be legal to take an extra step off the pivot as long as the planted foot doesnt return to the playing court before you release the ball. He’s right!
I would like to show this vid with a defender. Tall defender, small defender, close and space defender
9:34 i'll never ever understand why lifting the pivot foot like that on the hook is not a travel :P like, it's actually never called. legal move, but it kinda contradicts the rule. haha that aside, great video! thanks for sharing your knowledge
Ian Lungwitz Same. It works really well.
