    This taught me a lot about how to become a better center, I was always creating bad angles because I took the "stay under the net/stay deep in the post" too literally.

      @@PurXion_777 I use to do the same as a 6:2 PF however a move that works rly well when ur too deep if the cross body hook. Not many bigs do it alperen sengun the rocket's young center does it where he fakes left then posts right and puts his whole body at a 45 with the back board and just keeps his arm to his chest level and simply guides it in. Takes practice but works rly well in situations where you need to create more width for your shot

      @@ninjaoftherift1620 I used to do hookshots all the time, because I am a short dude. (5'8) I would make them consistantly, but I stopped doing them for some reason. I think I should try to keep practicing them, and maybe even do something to draw the foul, like holding the ball up with two hands, jumping into the defender, swapping the ball to my right and kind of tossing it up off the glass.

      @@blooketalt2527 at your height you probably need to do it more like a scoop kind of like the Luis scola scoop or Zbo running hook. But still an effective move

    This is a very great find for me pretty nostalgic👍
    My coach had me run those type of drills, I'm 5'11 180.34cm. Those moves work on Defense😁 the best at that was Rodman, Oakley, and Hakeem👍
    I more fun getting the Assists, Offensive & Defense rebounds more than scoring, until the coach pulled me aside for a quarter for not putting the ball right back😂 We took it too them, I told the coach it's awesome to see when the wings get hot and start knocking the long 2's. I told him they just needed a warm up quarter, but gotta knock those free throws to win. Contact is gonna happen in the post👍

    Ok, I have to ask. I played college basketball as a starting point guard. This is a great coaching video but where is the Sikma?? That is the most unguardable post move ever created (shout out to HOFer Jack Sikma btw) as an inside pivot move. You either drop the shoulder and drive or if they are defending that you turn into the defender and shoot it right over their heads. Go watch Jack Sikma clips for anyone curious about this. Jack Sikma literally went to seven All Star games, won a title in Seattle and went to the HOF because of his unstoppable "Sikma" inside pivot moves. Hubie Brown one of the greatest coaches ever constantly tells coaches and players to learn the Sikma. He's 100% correct.

    Not convinced about the back pivot move. How much space does that really create?

    • @BreakthroughBBall
      @BreakthroughBBall  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Space is one part of it. Another is that be pivoting away from the defense the ball is protected. It also allows you to see players moving into space behind you. They are often open for shots when the defense collapses on a drive

    Sorry, Coach Huber, I've got to ask... why are you playing defense in that position in the post? One, you're overplaying and consistently giving the offensive player the baseline. He simply drops his right and you're sealed. Simply spin to the basket. That doesn't make sense to me. Especially if the offensive player is ripping through with his left, using his right foot as his pivot. Also, isn't your help defense towards the middle? Wouldn't you want to shade the offensive player that way? This is from the first 5-6 minutes of the video. 1st off - as a defender, I'm never backing off a person in the post once they have the ball. Why would I? The angles to the basket are smaller. I'm going to stay close. Also, at the 5:10 mark, the offensive player gets the ball, why would any defender take the position you're in? A smart defender is going to stay close, make sure we don't give the baseline, and then force the player either towards the corner baseline to trap him, or high middle post where the guards can trap or look for steals off of a pass. Help me understand.
