Seal arrived today and fitted in about 40mins as I removed the detergent dispenser and cleaned it whilst I was at it. Great video which proved invaluable, allowing me to complete the job easily myself. Thank you.
Excellent explanation. Best video I have found for explaining what to do when your model doesn't have removable front panel. I managed it without removing the lid. Although it helps for your purpose of filming, it didn't seem to add anything to the replacement process. Spring is a swine but the grip trick is brilliant. People with big hands might find it really tight to manoeuvre. Patience required.......

Without this Video I would have never been able to do this job. Getting the big spring back on is incredibly difficult - dont even attempt it on your own! Just when I thought I had finished the wire with the small spring broke! so I now need to order a new one but at least I got it all back together & plumbed in ready to go. Many thanks & a beer on its way.

Unfortunately I didn't have anyone to help me so I had to fit the inner retaining ring on on my own, but I finally did it!!! My God it was difficult, I had to use a vice which was a lot less suitable than the one in this video. Ended up wearing rubber gloves for fear of the ring cutting my fingers due to the amount of pressure being used, I still ended up with a bloody thumb somehow though. What helped was putting some washing up liquid around the part of the seal where I'm really having to stretch the ring, to make it easier to go on. I didn't put washing up liquid all the way around because I wanted the rest of the ring to be gripping the rubber and staying put.

I have the same washing machine as the video, and the spring is a swine. There's a large block mounted on the front of the drum at the front, as well as the clamp at the top I used a small piece of wood at the bottom between this block and the seal to hold the spring in place. It's still difficult, but without this extra trick I don't think I would have got it back on without another set of hands.
Did the job eventually but it took a while to decide how the seal fitted onto the drum, your video does not show this in enough detail. I was not able to see how the old seal came off as it came off too quick, I also did not have the advantage of having the top of the machine off as it is fitted into the kitchen unit and 'unplumbing' to get it out is an absolute nightmare. Perhaps you could do a video with the machine in situ and more on what part of the seal goes round the drum.
I am glad we could help you, I hope you bought the parts from us if not don’t worry you can always get a beer in for us lol how-2-repair.com/buy-paul-a-beer/
I did not have to buy a new part as I did remove it for cleaning. If I had some money I would have sent you a beer, but I can't afford that now. But I will mention your channel if other have use for it too.
Helped me replace a burst seal on a hotpoint wmxtf942p, not on your list but looks almost identical to the model on the video. Man was the spring hard to replace on own with just my fingers. Thanks

Great stuff. Thanks. Just ordered new seal and waiting for it to arrive. Will then folow your vid. However, I have black marks at the bottom of the seal so presuming the mould as you said, but I always wipe the seal after use and always leave the door ajar - learnt in the cradle! so how come I still get the black stuff ? Any reply would be helpful. Regards
Great video thank you. We replaced our drum and all fine but slight leak from seal as didn't realise 2 retaining spring seals and front panel doesn't come off on our machine. Have subscribed to you on TH-cam but cannot find you on Facebook to like your page?
Thanks for this video, it's incredibly helpful - I've just bought you a beer.... but, can you advise - after the first wash having replaced it, there appears to be a lot of dust from rubber where it has rubbed on the drum as it has span round, is this normal initially or an indication that I have fitted it wrong? It isn't leaking or anything or making any unusual noises.

Thing is the spring on my indesit is steel wire with just a small spring holding the wire together and will not stretch enough to fit over the seal without springing off elsewhere.

Great stuff. Fitted the seal in about 40 minutes with a little help from my wife holding the spring, and did it without removing the front panel.

Thanks so much! We changed the seal in about an hour and everyithing is working perfectly. I am a girl and must say - amazing stuff!
Thanks saved my life after accidentally removing the spring during cleaning

Why on Earth did Hotpoint not make the whole front panel removable? If it was removable things would be so much easier.
