Great video Paul totally agree with your thinking, there are many people who can't afford to buy a new machine especially nowadays. Keep up the great work & stay safe out there. Is that a new workshop or have you just remodelled ?.
I've been repairing washing machines for nearly 50 years mate. So nice of you, all I'm trying to do is teach in the correct way that everyone understands. These machines are disgraceful they shouldn’t be able to sell them like this I’ve got a 16 year old bosch and it hasn’t needed the bearings doing but when they go I will certainly replace them this vid has given me some info on how to take a machine apart so thank u 👍💪
Excellent video and very informative. The only issue I had was the replacement of the door seal, bloody nightmare but it worked out in the end. I highly recommend this video.
Hi @redsolar7 thanks a lot for your comment. It would be really helpful for me to get my video seen, as I'm no IT expert, to either share the channel or at least post it to your friends. I should have been paying more attention when you said *sealed drum* in the beginning before I disassembled our washing machine because I wanted to deep clean in manually as all ther methods of removing the smelly scrud failed😅Now I'm looking at diy videos of people using a hacksaw and then gluing it back together and I'm hesitant to try that as we do live in a rented apartment and I'm not too sure the owner would like what I've done to his property 😅
just wanted to say thank you. I got a spoon out of my heater element. A whole spoon!!! my question is I have an older whirlpool duet and the plastic around the drum has screws can I take this completely apart and reassemble it? or will i need a seal after taking it apart. I watched one you said they are welded on some so just curious. thanks for taking the time to make these very helpful
Thank you for this video! Please can you help, whilst cleaning around the rubber seal, the drum seal spring has came out and I cannot find anywhere online to tell me where I need to put it back to! Please advise 😫
Yes I can iam sure i show how to fit seal and springs in this video th-cam.com/video/YKFSR8GEy64/w-d-xo.html Thank you For leaving a comment this is for you th-cam.com/users/shortse432SAb2g08 please remember to subscribe as that's is what keeps this channel going. Thanks 👍
Excellent video. Thank you for your time. Unfortunately, I found my drum was also sealed and the fairly new machine was scrap. There must be a way to establish this first. Maybe if the large pulley is held in place with a bolt the bearing is replaceable, and if it is held in place with an allen key, it is a sealed drum??
@jaybee258 Presuming you mean one of the Hotpoint-Ariston family as in the vid, I thought MINE was non-sealed too, as the things obv manufactures in two halves .. But unless youve got little bolts holding the drum together , it aint, its plastic-welded! Theres a vid of someone cutting these open, and re sealing - but its quite a bit of faff !
Get some young lads to do the lifting, for you are usually put a small bar across the machine attached to the drum @dieselhead24 please remember to subscribe to our channel as that really helps us th-cam.com/users/shortse432SAb2g08 Thanks, Paul 👍
Okay, as a Hotpoint engineer, you will know this. Find the part number of the drum that you were looking for, then put this into one of the websites and find all the models that it fits. Using this data as individual searches to see if anyone has an old machine with a burnt out PCB or similar fault, then Rob Charlie to make Peter better. You will also be surprised how many new ones are for sale from engineers who have leftover stock glad we could help you @johnmartin390 this is for you th-cam.com/users/shortse432SAb2g08 please remember to subscribe as that's what keeps this channel going. hello i have a similar machine and i have noticed that the washing machine is leaking water when get's filled with water or detergent, i have tried and remove the front cover and washed the detergent box but nothing happened, i'm not quite sure if is the drum that is leaking or if it's leaking from the inlet hose... i bought the machine brand new a little over two years ago... very odd for it to start leaking so fast
Hi Paul, is it possible to open the tub of this machine ? It seems to be glued ??? There are just 4 claws to maintain the front face .... not realistic ... I need to replace the 3 drum paddles and there are some folded tabs to block the paddles on the drum which must be folded from the outside of the drum. Thanks in advance !
Great stuff - your last vid was real helpful too (epoxy drum repair) thing is.. I had a rather bigger hole - so I got the aqua-stik epoxy & reinforcing glue and I had ideas to reinforce the repair with fibreglass mesh or similar - - mines a Hotpoint, like what you have there, and seems to be a split drum. So if i do this full strip-down, how feasible it is to open the 2 halves of the drum (to check for remaining foreign debris, and give full access for a repair?) then put back - do the 2 halves need a special seal, can i just reassemble, or what ? Thanks for you time - I find fancy electronics and computers a lot easier :) Pete, Gas Electronics
there are a few videos on replacing bearings on a sealed drums that will help you ,but not for me to much work, why not look for a second hand drum its easy if you have model number. Thanks 👍 for watching and please remember to subscribe to the Channel as that's what keeps us going in able to make the video for you
Hi Paul. Thank you kindly for another informative video. You have helped me numerous times and saved myself a lot 💪💪💪 Stay safe. Keep at the great work. 💪💪💪 Sincere regards, Scott. ✌️🙏✌️
Hi .u r great mate well explained. how to overcome your probs if u r a good d i yer keep up with good work god bless you. World has changed ppl have too ,product these days r worse than china .
Why not just cut the thing in half and replace the bearings for next to nothing? You then bolt it back together with a good silicone seal! No need for a new drum.
Hello I have to say why would you really want to go through all this kinda work just to replace a new tub. Seems a lot of work. I understand what you are trying to show but honestly I can’t see why. Hope you are not offended by my view on this matter. Thanks
To be honest in my case I did this, and I understand your viewpoint, but in my utility room we have the matching machine and dryer in graphite grey both of which are now obsolete. Only for that I would have went the new machine route

Nice one Paul. A pleasure to watch and very clearly explained - without musak?
Sometimes those heater elements are difficult to remove remember :D
Right so I meet to drag the pos into the garage and set up hoist before I even attempt to stop it down to replace ther drum

Interesting. Chance of finding an identical secondhand tank is easier said than done. I speak as ex Hotpoint fse.

How do you change a heater on an AEG washing machine?
Good video mate 👍
But I was always taught to never ever work on a suspended load

Great Video Sir!
Is it possible to replace just the bearings?
no that's the problem with the manufactures they are not telling the public which machines are repairable. Ebac machines are repairable
Only really LG and Samsung have split drums now a days where bearings can be replaced

What we should be able to do is easily replace the bearings without all this but they will
never design them to be able to do it.
Can you remove the front to get to the metal drum only?

I understand your thought completely but
There are many people who cannot afford to buy a new machine, And by doing a little bit of research they might be able to find a replacement drum for as little as £20 out of the machine which has burnt electrics. I have been doing this for nearly 40 years but with this video it is only 2 hours of work to put a new drum or second-hand into their machine. There are a lot of people who have a few hours to spare rather than spending £300 on a new machine. I was not offended by your criticism whatsoever but not all of us are in the same financial situation.
The machine I was working on was hotpoint wmfug842puk the drum is part number C00285584 this fits all these machines so there is a good chance of finding a drum
