  • Here I show how I Remove and Install the rear wheel on a Harley Davidson touring model.
    I use the techniques shown in this how-to video for removal of rear wheels on most motorcycles.
    I have used this method hundreds of times over the years as a Motorcycle Mechanic.
    On this channel I post content about motorcycles. And as a motorcycle mechanic I like to post videos that can help you with working on you own bike.

    Like riding a bicycle! Try it, fall off, try it again and fall off, try again and so on. After a while you'll be good. I love the little step box trick!

    How much time is involved, include tire mounting?

      Well… have you ever done one before? if things go smoothly I can roll bike onto lift, change tire, and be done in under an hour. Really depends.

      What would you like to know? ... remove it before removing wheel.

    So call me crazy but I was thinking you would have to line the tire so it wouldn't hit the side like on a bicycle. You just push it back in and put the axle in and your done?

    • @CrackerJackMechanic

      No, not even close

    OK so this is ridiculous kind of a good idea you’re headed in the right direction but what I do is I lift the wheel up on the little step with my knee then I just put the bar back in to hold the wheel and then I slide the drop out plate back in!! and then you don’t have to hold the wheel at all it takes two seconds then you put the axle through with no straining why would you sit there and hold that wheel up in the air on your knee for that long 🤣🤣🤣that’s crazy. Dude slide the plate back in!!!!

    • @CrackerJackMechanic
      @CrackerJackMechanic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually slide the bar back in. Or my foot is on the box and flat while resting. I line it back up and get the caliper in place, slip belt onto pulley. Then push axle in while the weight on wheel rests on the bar…
      I can’t give away all my “secrets”! 😆
      Without exaggeration I’ve done well over a thousand this way! did one yesterday!
      Whatever works best for you guys!
