Are both positive on the alternators in parallel so that you get higher amps at idle or are there separate, factory alt for trucks electrical and HO alt for system?

Hey guys nice job system sounds real good I did something similar to your power upgrade and still found out I was having a bit of fluctuation like you have, I was able to remedy the problem with a n additional battery. I use a group 31 battery that has threaded post commonly used in semi trucks.
+Rob Echo Typically there is no fuse on the alt to battery wire because of the length which is short and its minimal routing through the chassis, also the alternator output can fluctuate a lot and sometimes you will see really high spikes. You could put a fuse on that link just be sure its probably 20 percent more than the rated output of your alternator. For the other part of the question its a necessity to use a fuse as close to the battery as possible when running any wire and not just the original battery you need a fuse after the oem battery then another fuse as close to the additional battery as possible then another fuse on the load wire of that battery. This assures that you will never have a shorted wire along the length of the run. If you were to short the wire from one battery to the other and had only one fuse the additional battery would short unless you can safely cut voltage to that via the second fuse. That is a pretty windy answer but I just wanna run home how important it is to have a fuse along any run without one you are more than likely to catch the vehicle on fire with a source more powerful than one of those silly fire extinguisher can extinguish. I don't know who said this but any thing than can go wrong will. Have a good day buddy.
I think that guage just has one connection for positive and one for negative. You can run the negative wire to the battery or a good clean piece of metal. The positive side needs to go to a fused positive source. You can run a wire to the battery but be sure to put a fuse in line with the wire a 5 amp fuse should be enough.
