One thing and the first thing you need to do to prevent any further damage from happening is to locate and map out the flow of water on your property. I can tell you right now from not seeing anything that if your ceiling is falling in and theres severe foundation damage that somewhere there is a ditch that is stopped up or maybe a channel to direct the water flow has eroded away and is causing water to migrate towards your housepad instead of away from it. the dirt under the house is become saturated and is suppose to be the dryest ...Driest...(however your spell it), part of your property. Great video - Another option is to use a high output (at idle) alternator, for example, Balmar XT-250 with an external regulator that acts like a battery charger. The MC-618 external regulator has charging profiles for different battery chemistries. A normal car alternator without external regulator will definitely have issues exactly as your video demonstrates. A Balmar XT-250 and MC-618 external regulator will provide over 100A at idle and charge the battery properly. I do need to mention I work at Balmar - Thanks!

Hey EXO I have a question that is partially related to this video. I have a 1990 Honda CRX and im considering putting roughly a 2000 watt system in it and my question is I know that I'll need and alternator that puts out more amps then whats currently in it 65amps but I cant figure out exactly how much more I'll need. Any help that you or anyone else that watches your videos would be greatly appreciated.
Go check out mark on car audio fabrication. He goes into super detail on how to properly measure how much amperage and voltage your system will use so you know what batt and alt to buy when doing a new system. Sorry EXO if you didn't want someone else's page being blasted in your comments
This was really helpful EXO!! One tends to forget about these essentials like current draw of the alternator, especially when competing in the lanes too
Only in America.. No high output alternators, no problems. That's why we don't have that problem in Europe. We usually have only one basic alternator for huge +50kw system. No heat related issues with stock alternators :)
in Europe I also see alot of people run Winston's... where half the amount of US lithium runs as good as twice the amount of winston lithium. no space related issues, with HO alts. 😉 in US we run 20k+ systems straight off alts. 😂
Yes, you're right. Winston is only affordable lithium on market, same thing in Russia for example. Here's very few cars that even could run multiple alternators, average car has 1-2 liter engine because of emissions. Old car with v8 engine for example is very expensive to keep because of taxes and insurance, even if you don't drive it much :D
Yes, I have two stock 120A alternators for example. There might not be another person with double alternators in Finland. We usually change the biggest alternator available with same fitting, example in my situation: 1.2l stock alt 65A -> 1.6l stock alt with air conditioning 120A. And then we buy battery bank big enough to keep the voltage +12v to get the rated power from amplifiers :)
Hey EXO, hope the house issues get resolved in the best way possible for ya. Learned a lot from this vid... Alt was putting out crazy voltage to charge them batt’s!
I think the big thing to look at is a stock alternator is only designed to put out its full rated current for a relatively short time - just long enough to recover the stock battery from starting the engine.
In a word no. The stock radio will most likely put out less wattage and unless you get a dirt cheap head unit the stock will most likely have more distortion. And then the biggest deal the stock unit doesn’t have preamp outputs and you will have to add an adapter for the low end signal and unless you buy a very expensive adapter with its own power needed with eq settings built in then the signal will be weak and distorted.
Just wanted to say thank you! You are the reason i bought a PSI platform 2 18. I plan on buying another and build a wall like yours. Love watching all your videos!
Im not gonna lie I just get in my ride and drive for about 5 mins then i let it rip my system draws more amparage than what my stock alt can produce ...lol its kinda hard to back off on the knob when your getting into the jam. Its funny making heads turn in my city while at a stoplight.
I'm not understanding. You said use a battery charger instead of an alternator. do you have added hardware under you hood to charger the battery? If so, what are you using?
So the mechanic in me was like, bro... Your car is smoking, more than likely due to a leaking gasket somewhere spitting oil onto the exhaust. You should really take care of that, we don't want EXO to catch fire, that would be awful!! BTW, nice video. I charge my batteries all the time, and I can make them last for typically 6 to 7 years.
Do you recommend adding an isolator to alternator for a 2nd battery? Or adding a 2nd battery to an upgraded alternator (no isolator). Trying to stay on a budget. Your probably going to say add an isolator to an upgraded alternator. 2-15 kicker comp and atleast 2000 amp. Been a while since i looked at my system due to not upgrading yet. Alternator and wires were working real hard and i didn't want to damage anything so i left alone for like 3 months now
The only time you ever want an isolater is if you want to separate batteries in the system, typically if you are in a budget you won't use them and if you have the proper alternator with battery setup you'll be fine!
Most people Don’t realize an alternator will never charge a to full capacity no matter what size it is if you kill Your battery and jump start the car and only drive it and think your are going to fully charge the battery you are going to kill that battery faster than you can believe. Get it on a proper battery charger with 10-20% of your AH rating. So a 100 AH battery needs a minimum 10 amp charge to full to keep the battery in the nest condidtion.
Awesome videos bro. I got a 93 Chevy S10 truck, I just upgraded the stereo system with a 1200 watt amp and 2, 10 inch woofers but now when I crank up the bass the lights dim and the amp cup cuts off. Would installing an alternator with 200 amps instead the 100 amp stock one i have now solve this problem without hurting my stock battery or anyting? The stereo and amp were professionally installed but I never changed the Big 3 under the hood yet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ..
What does revving the motor do? Is it increasing current to an aftermarket alternator that's not being measured? Is it helping the alternator cool? Is it giving the alternator a higher voltage/less current which is converted to a constant 12v and more amps?
Where is the best place to hook up the charger/maintainer too to charge all the batteries(fromt batt, or one of the back batt). Or is it best to charge individually?
So a solar panle charger would be helpful to help maintrain the battery right. Question is through the accessories plug or straight on the battery ? Opinions wanted
Good point, gel batteries lose voltage more rapidly than wet ones. Use a good and appropriate type of charger to maintain the longevity. I personally like welding cable for high amp applications. Best amp rating for gauge size. Keep the bass wind flowing
Wouldn't the alternator have that same problem when the batteries have depleted from bass demos? I'm wondering if the alt would always have to run through that cycle of 100+ amps to charge the batteries. Even after the bass has stopped.
Not as much as you'd think, because of his HI Output Alt when the amps are demanding heaps of power, the alternator can flood in that crazy hi amperage to meet the demand. So the battery's don't take nearly as hard of a hit during those demanding moments, thus allowing the alternator to easily top them back up to capacity.
technically yes but at that point ur alts are doing the job u bought them for... recharging a dead battery because most people are to lazy or are to in a hurry to grab a battery charger and let it sit for a few hours is just putting wear on some expensive alts that can be avoided... not to mention the cost of these batteries like agms and shit... smashing ur battery with 100+ amps to recharge it is really not a good thing to do especially to a sealed battery... ive seen some expensive batteries swell up and get ruined because of exactly this problem... if im not mistaken 3 or 4 years ago gp alts got blamed for the loss of an entire bank of expensive batts on a fairly high profile build... all because the builders didnt put a battery tender on their bank and relied on 5 high output gp alts to charge em... these batteries were so swollen theyre lucky they didnt catch fire... if ur cars been sitting a few days and its not stock electrical... hit it with a battery charger ur alt and ur battery will thank u for it and probably last longer

Yup fully charge your battery and test. Should have 14.1 volts, and a 13.8 run volts. Also properly upgrade your main power wires 20% or more above the max usage.
i would have like to have seen the voltage on the batteries before and after 7 mins of charging. I am not sure how much was due to charging and how much was due to cold batteries.
But nice video
@@4gbmeans4gb61 You can do that but it will hurt the longevity of the batterys. Imagine trying to do work and lift stuff and do things on 2 hour cat naps though out the day. You will become fatigued faster wont have as much energy to use. Verses a full 8hr rest where you have a good full reserve of energy to work and lift stuff. The battery charger is like the 8hr sleep cycle. :)
Very, very, veeeery useful information. Not even thought about my poor battery. Now I have a automatic charger. Perfect.
ExO thank you very informative video , running a old school Orion system with a 240 amp Alternator glad to learn charging the batteries is a positive requirement ,,,respect
Hearing Aid manufacturers will be loving you guys in about 10-20 years from now. Better enjoy your music while you can.
“Nice little system” 😂😂 with big 18s in the back
Hi nice video, How often you recomend to recharge manually the batterys?? Thanks my system is SQ but is full electrical system and lights.
A house cant sit on mud. Shoot me a message for my contact info if you have any questions or need a second opinion on anything. Youve helped so many of us. I'd be glad to help

Ouch only one like ....lmao
was good to see you enjoy your music not just go loud
I've been preaching about battery chargers/maintainers for a while, I keep a cheap one hooked up to an Optima battery so I can plug it in occasionally over night and on the weekends. It also helps when you don't play your system at high volume all the time and a quality battery or two make a big difference. Happy banging bass bros!
What is a battery charger I can get?
@EXOcontralto future plan to run an 8k amp with one xspower super cell capacitor bank what kinda amp alt would you recommend?
The biggest you can fit/afford.
Bloody hell the flex on them 18s is insane! Great video as always dude. Very educational.
that's a bummer your new house has a few gremlins in it.... glad to see your still plugging away at the car audio stuff ! cant wait for new vids :)
“DAMN SON WHERE U FIND THIS” 🤣
Holy shit, i never knew. But it makes perfect sense! Halfway through this video, i paused it, went to the garage, and put the charger on the car. Although it had it's engine replaced at one time, the car is from 1987, so i bet that alternator is at least 30 years old. I"m surprised it lasted me this long already! You sir, have opened my eyes. Thank you so much!
Them 2 18's was chewing up all that paper lol. That badboi was hitting EXO.
For 10000 watts rms do you think 2 battery optima yellow tops and 350 amp iraggi alternater will be enough ?
No! I think optima has a bci group 31 version, get like 4-6 of those and 2 350a alternators. Xspower also got good agm batteries too!
Pierre Seaton wow 😲 crazie...
4-6 batteries🔋
Damn that’s a lot...
Anyway
I hav 3 Rockford Fosgate in a 3x12 sealed box and i have 3 punch amps... I’m loading about 300 wts to each sub
How many batteries alternators, do you think I will need...i have 3’ RFP250a2 on bass (running mono/bridged) but I’m thinking bout upgrading one of them to a RFP 800a2 or RFP500a2 any advice?

@@jahcousteauu_STAYinSHAPE xspower d3400 in front if you got enough space under the hood or d5100, and d1200 in back with mechman 240a alternator that'll give you plenty of power! Xs power batteries r best!
@@jahcousteauu_STAYinSHAPE actually the xspower d4900 would be a better fit, it's the direct fit bci group for that car. Also it's a 3000w battery under the hood, so that's all you need battery wise. That along with a 240a alternator and big 3 upgrade works great for your power! Sorry for the late reply.
Perfect time to start the counting of minutes on phone.

Just replaced my f150’s alternator. Went from a 95amps to 130 amps
jacob stienecker I’m going from 110 to 270 very soon

Yeah. Without a doubt I've tortured my alternator. I bought a new one and having power everything I may be replacing it again if I don't replace my battery. 80% charge or I'm push-starting.
Get a 2nd battery bro
@@DeathLikeWebz I was debating on what battery is going in the trunk. But I just started using a Pioneer 760 and a 12" low end sub. The lights barely dim and I pondered a cap first.
@@MadDragon75 honestly dude I've had a 4 farad capacitor and it did nothing... but when I added a kinetik HC2400 Battery to my system I didn't even notice...it all depends how much current you are pulling.. you can buy a 400 dollar capacitor from XS and it would fix your problem... but that's 400 bucks lol and a 3100D from XS power is what I'll be using from now on
@@MadDragon75 also capacitors work entirely different than batteries, capacitors don't go through a chemical change to deliver current whilst batteries do...and capacitors can deliver power and charge faster... honestly you gotta have both to have an optimal setup
@@DeathLikeWebz yeah. A battery. Your right.
Thanks dude. The thought never dawned on me that the easiest way to check the battery charge is to check the alterntor load. Freaking awesome.
Thank you! Excellent Video. I hadn't considered this. I need to get a better clamp meter and measure my own. Nice floating paper man. Thanks for the video.

I will 2nd this question due to 91 Hardbody 60amp. But was thinking of doing a second alt just for system.
Amps times volts equal watts. Not including efficiency but that's the basic formula
Go check out mark on car audio fabrication. He goes into super detail on how to properly measure how much amperage and voltage your system will use so you know what batt and alt to buy when doing a new system. Sorry EXO if you didn't want someone else's page being blasted in your comments
Awesome bro.i love how straight fwd your vid was. Im gonna charge my batteries right now. How big a alternator do u have in the saturn
Of course we use +100A chargers in shows with big battery bank. Sometimes idling isn't even allowed :D
in Europe I also see alot of people run Winston's... where half the amount of US lithium runs as good as twice the amount of winston lithium. no space related issues, with HO alts. 😉 in US we run 20k+ systems straight off alts. 😂
@@JoniK1 I watch your videos also, could you explain to me what you mean? You use stock alts?
There’s a rectifier you can get for your car so the alternator actually works as a charger👍
What about the rectifier in the alt..
Im not following i guess..
I think the big thing to look at is a stock alternator is only designed to put out its full rated current for a relatively short time - just long enough to recover the stock battery from starting the engine.
Awesome info like always bro. Man 2 18 in a Saturn!!! Lol wtf your the first I see that. Beast mode bro 👍👊😎
I saw 2 18s in a fiat and that was so loud
Quick question I’m still new to car audio will having a stock head unit still perform the same as a after market one ?
In a word no. The stock radio will most likely put out less wattage and unless you get a dirt cheap head unit the stock will most likely have more distortion. And then the biggest deal the stock unit doesn’t have preamp outputs and you will have to add an adapter for the low end signal and unless you buy a very expensive adapter with its own power needed with eq settings built in then the signal will be weak and distorted.
What Track is EXO bumpin???

Good lookin fam.

One day the considerates are going to destroy all of you heathen devils.
I'm not understanding. You said use a battery charger instead of an alternator. do you have added hardware under you hood to charger the battery? If so, what are you using?
Been following for Years,,
LMFAO!!, @ 9:53!.. Love your charisma Man. lol, lol...
Great tip i never would’ve thought it would draw so many amps with the system off
7:58 Just mentality immage cash 💸, not paper.
Monopoly money would be cool too.
Dude you’re going to be deaf by the time your 40! Unlike batteries , your hearing does not recover! Good video tho!
I was thinking the same, seeing that guys ears inches away from his monster subwoofer. :D
@depunkt yeah but it's not always playing low frequency I use to run subs all the time I got hearing loss
@depunkt It will get damaged by the pressure waves created by the subs.

How often u should charge battery?
4:20😏
Hahahahaha!!!! 4:20
Most people
Don’t realize an alternator will never charge a to full capacity no matter what size it is if you kill
Your battery and jump start the car and only drive it and think your are going to fully charge the battery you are going to kill that battery faster than you can believe. Get it on a proper battery charger with 10-20% of your AH rating. So a 100 AH battery needs a minimum 10 amp charge to full to keep the battery in the nest condidtion.
420 😂😂😂 not by coincidence
What battery chargers do you suggest?
hi EXO have you got any new videos coming up mate
Awesome videos bro. I got a 93 Chevy S10 truck, I just upgraded the stereo system with a 1200 watt amp and 2, 10 inch woofers but now when I crank up the bass the lights dim and the amp cup cuts off. Would installing an alternator with 200 amps instead the 100 amp stock one i have now solve this problem without hurting my stock battery or anyting? The stereo and amp were professionally installed but I never changed the Big 3 under the hood yet. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ..
I have a 2003 ion with the same engine as yours what brand alternator would you recommend for me
What does revving the motor do? Is it increasing current to an aftermarket alternator that's not being measured? Is it helping the alternator cool? Is it giving the alternator a higher voltage/less current which is converted to a constant 12v and more amps?
thank you for replying to my comment yesterday. going to put in quick connector for charger now.
I luv that video good bass... I have a bad volt drop.. what info I need to give u to help with this problem?
Thanks for video bro 👍🏼 .. on my old car I installed subwoofers from someone not licenced and after around 20-30 days my alternator busted up and batteries gone.. I unplug all the wires from woofer ....so it is beacuse of old car
Hey bro so will it work if I had like two stock alternators
!!! ...EXO... !!! What hz, watts, box type would you recommend make a structure fall apart? I always wondered what your system could do to a shed or the drive through window. Or even make a video from inside a house with you pulling up to it
Hey Exo... great vid.... finally a stereo guy posting on TH-cam about the realities of Alternator and their relationship to charging batteries.
I have an alternator and 2nd battery on order I’m considering a capacitor as well.
Can that be done if so what are the Do and do not chooses. The capacitor manufacturers just like amps can be misleading. Do you have a brand or preference you would share.
I’m running 2000 rms for subs and another 2000 on mid and highs.
Thank you love your videos always informative and entertaining.
Hey exo so would you say that if you had one extra battery in your boot to run the system that you should use a battery charger maybe once a week if it’s your daily driver??
