@@NextLevelCarAudio so if I do a single high output alternator I’ll need the stock plug connected to it? I bought a singer 390 and my issue is my volts are fluctuating even at idle. I have a gm internal regulator with a two wire plug adapter. One plug for battery hot and the other is ignition source. I’m wondering if my car needs to have the alternator connected to the ecu through either the stock l terminal or fr terminal
@NextLevelCarAudio mine don't have internal regulators. it's pcm controlled. I was told you have to reprogram the computer if adding a second alternator if pcm controlled
2 big advantages. First you can keep your cars electrical system running stock and isolated from your stereo so it does not rob any juice from your stereo. Next, no need for running isolators. Which can fail leaving you in a bad position. This way, your car keeps running and your stereo keeps playing regardless of what the other one is doing.
Because with one alternator you can’t run dual electrical systems. It’s great being able to isolate truck power from stereo power without having to use isolators. Plus those that run 12v truck power and 16v stereo power need to do it this way.

@@NextLevelCarAudio Thx for the help, yeah I was concerned about seeing 17volts because I've never seen it that high. The alternator was definitely trying to keep up with the demand of that Orion 2500watt. The birthsheet on that thing says 2984watts 😄 👍🏾💯
Dont you think it would have been better to have the 370a on the bracket and the other in the factory location, since it might benefit from that better belt wrap?
Was only temp. I’m running dual 370’s now so no matter. With this setup I got ZERO slip, so did not matter for me .
What dedicated battery is that under the hood...
Optima Red Top. Series 34/78.
Looks cool man. I have a few questions hoping you can help me. I have a 2015 Hyundai Sonata, that runs a stock 200A alternator. Could I run the 200A alternator for my car and it’s electrical; and a separate 300A alternator for my audio system? If so how does that work without damaging any electrical? Would I have to upgrade electrical for my car for the separate 300A alternator? Or do you recommend me adding another 200A alternator instead of the 300A?
Absolutely, won’t cause any problems. That’s how I had mines set up. Complete separate electrical systems. They share ground. That’s it
@@NextLevelCarAudio good to know! Thank you for helping me out. Keep up the great work 👌🏻
So are your lithium batteries? 12 V or 14v
I added both alt how it showed but once I put my truck on gear the truck looses power and shuts off any ideas ?
That’s odd.... never heard of that man. How are your batteries?
@@NextLevelCarAudio battery’s are charging good everything is good just seems like my stock alternator might be going out when I put it on gear
That’s a possibility, let me know if you figure it out. Wish I could be more help
I need to do this to my 09 suburban, I have 2 d4800 xs power batteries on a mechman 370 alternator but I have a mechman 240 that I'm not using. Would 1 battery be ok for my audio and 1 for the vehicles electrical system? 240 for my truck and the 370 for my audio system, 3 evl 15's 1 rp4500.1 on my subs and 1 rp75.4 on my mids and highs.
At that power level your should be right on.
@@NextLevelCarAudio u mean without the dual alternator set up?
@@NextLevelCarAudio regulated voltage control wont let me use my alternators full potential
No, after you do the dual setup
@@NextLevelCarAudio ok thanks man, I appreciate the feedback.
Do you need to have the factory harness plugged in on both? What would happening you bypassed both alternators with one wire
Just one... the other you only need the one wire. Not sure if you bypassed both what would happen. Besides getting the warning light on the dash
I’m wondering if my car needs to have the alternator connected to the ecu through either the stock l terminal or fr terminal
so all I need to turn on 2nd alt is 12v + ?
how will it know what amps to give sound system?
the internal regulators
@NextLevelCarAudio mine don't have internal regulators. it's pcm controlled. I was told you have to reprogram the computer if adding a second alternator if pcm controlled
Explain Really Well Man 💯👌 will be adding a 2nd alt... But i want both to power my car audio & stock electrical. How would i do that ?
That’s how my current setup is. See one of my more recent videos here: if still have questions let me know
th-cam.com/video/jyZI9qHTgRA/w-d-xo.html
What type of lithium battery do you have in the back?
Cyber 12k’s
Am looking for prefabricated 2nd alternator bracket for stock 250... straight 6
any links ?? thanks
What vehicle
Where did u run that mechman alternator
Directly to my rear lithium battery for my car audio build. The other alternator is for the truck battery
@@NextLevelCarAudio did u wire to your fuse panel on 12v fuse
yes, 12v ignition on fuse in the underhood fuse box. there are several that will work you can tap into.
Where did you run your wire for the 12v source ?
Don’t knit off top of head. In this video I show exactly where…. Near the beginning
th-cam.com/video/8MRirg9jXo4/w-d-xo.html
So no need for a battery isolator correct?
When set up like this, nope!
Should I run 3 400 amp alternators for both the car and audio system together if I’m running 15k watts
That’s a Lot. Dual with be more than enough. Even a single 400 would be enough of you had good reserve
Does it slow the hummer down a little? Since it’s a longer belt
I have not noticed any difference honestly
Does the factory alternator feed power to the mechman alternator?
Nope..... factory alt powers truck independently. Mechman alt is powering the lithium/stereo all by itself.
Oh ok.I was told that the factory alt makes the secondary alt kick in.
that can be true if they are wired together. but mines are completely isolated from eachother.
Is there an advantage to separating them?
2 big advantages. First you can keep your cars electrical system running stock and isolated from your stereo so it does not rob any juice from your stereo. Next, no need for running isolators. Which can fail leaving you in a bad position. This way, your car keeps running and your stereo keeps playing regardless of what the other one is doing.
I wanna do this but I charge my lithium at 15.6 and stock at 14.8? Doable?
Absolutely! As long as you keep the electrical systems isolated you are fine
@@NextLevelCarAudio how so exactly?
One alt goes to under hood battery that powers truck, one alt goes to rear battery bank that runs audio. Common ground but isolated power wires
Why not one higher output alternator?
Because with one alternator you can’t run dual electrical systems. It’s great being able to isolate truck power from stereo power without having to use isolators. Plus those that run 12v truck power and 16v stereo power need to do it this way.
Can I ask what size belt you used?
Tried finding that answer for you... but running a different setup now so different belt... sorry :/
@@NextLevelCarAudio its okay thanks for letting me know. I appreciate you for all your videos. God bless
Where did u get the plug?
Mechman website. A rep helped me find it on there
Thx
I have a ‘1987 350 small block how can I do this 😭
May need a custom bracket made. Or do you have a dual alt bracket already?
How many in-line fuses you have
In this setup 2, now I’m running 3 350’s
@@NextLevelCarAudio I will be running 2 runs power with extra battery to 5k how many will I need
I would do the same. 2 350 amp fuses if running 1/0
@@NextLevelCarAudio all I seen was 200a and 300a where I get 50a
And I’m running double power wire
Congratulations you just invented having the optional two voltage Potentials in one vehicle so you can short out all your systems and not know where the problem is
And congrats for being an idiot. This how all the big boys do it :)
U aiight
Thanks
@@NextLevelCarAudio yes you can tell that you are something special and you are a very extinct being for your work goes to the finest detail and I will definitely recommend your specialty. Thank you for the kind words. :)
I would like to add a second alternator but, I can't figured out how to wire them,, NOTE since the voltage in my truck is regulated trough the computer.. short story long I need to do more research.
Its worth it tho to make sure you do it right. Hope you can get it figured out
@@NextLevelCarAudio I'm planning to install one for Chevy truck, but high output probably 300 amps, since those alternators have the sense wire and it's so easy to hook it up, just to the ignition and a few modifications here and there, it's all about been creative and make it work..
Hell yeah
Link?
Does this affect engine timings?
No it does not
Your GM vehicle is metric bumper to bumper. I know the 5/8" wrench worked but I also know it was a bit sloppy, that's because it's actually 15mm. 🦓
ok...

I have seen 4 aditional alternators. Can anybody answer, how many of them can I put on and keep friction on main pulley in not slipping limits? Cause usualy there is one alternator, and friction force is kinda calculated for that, also maybe for water pump to, but 4 or more alternators ad a lot of resistance and the belt can simply burn on the pulley.
Gates heavy duty belt and lots of tension. Other than that, just send it lol.
where you tapped the 12v single wire to..What fuse?
Where did you get the bracket from?
Did you use a alternator distribution block for power and ground runs?
Buss bars on the back with fuses in between
@@NextLevelCarAudio awesome. I just bought a 4 spot alternator distribution block. Would I wire 2 power and 2 grounds to it or what? GP CAR AUDIO is the brand as well.
Are you running a single alternator?
@@NextLevelCarAudio I'm running two alternators but only one designed for my sound system.
Im thinking about running a big 3 on my stock alternator just for security purposes or is that too much. 🤔
What battery dose your engine run on with it can you go deeper in to detail with the wire
Now I don’t have an under hood battery, just an under hood super cap by xs
