Synopsis: When Woody is kidnapped by a greedy toy collector and is nowhere to be found, Buzz and his friends set out to rescue him. However, Woody gets tempted by the idea of becoming immortal in a museum.
This was one of the first sequels for a kids' movie that didn't feel like a poorly-made cash grab. I remember seeing it as a kid and being blown away by the scope, sleek animation, and moving story ð§Ą
No replies to this comment, I'll be the first.
same, I even had all the Toy Story merchandise
Until the 4th one came
Jessie's backstory was another tear-jerk win for Pixar.
I literally cried so hard as a kid with that scene
Itâs Andyâs mom
@@benmeyer7929omg is that canon??
@@aliciaa4859I think it was head canon but idk if it was confirmed but the red hat Andy wears is an exact match to Jessieâs owner so I think it be true
@@benmeyer7929 Wait FR?
Fun Fact: Toy Story 2 was an on the fly decision by John Lassiter. While promoting A Bugâs Life, he saw a kid happily playing with a Toy Story doll and knew he needed to make a sequel for that boy. Pixar was only given 8 MONTHS but DAMN did they deliver! People debate to this day whether 1 or 2 is better.
Iâd say 2 is better, but I prefer 1 for its charm. 2 is still right up there for me though.
2 is slightly better but 1 comes real close
Jessieâs backstory with Emily is pure perfection.
No replies to this comment, I'll be the first.
no kidding
The dream sequence was 100% traumatising as a child
I definetely saw a nightmare inspired by it
LMAO! 100% I felt so damn uncomfortable by that scene when I was a kid. Also uncomfortable mentions to the Cheeto Puff scene & Toy Story 1 Sidâs toys lol.
lol
The story of this movie's production was absolutely insane, it was almost entirely deleted and almost scrapped before it was saved at the last minute.
The movie was made in the late 90s, which means that the computer system for the movie production was operated through input commands to do basically anything.
WELL, what happened late into production was that someone put in the wrong command.
"Rm -r -f *" which slowly started deleting every single scene, file, asset and character model.
When IT finally managed to stop it, 90% of the movie was deleted and the back-up servers haven't worked in a while...
The movie needed to be delayed, but was almost considered to just be scrapped. Until one of the animators, who was pregnant at the time, remembered that she had the ENTIRE MOVIE saved on her own computer to work from home.
The computer was carefully transported to Pixar while covered in blankets and managed to save the entire movie
That woman deserves a fucking statue in her honour.
@@Lord_NumptyShe got fired instead
The song that was used in Jessie's backstory actually got an Oscar nomination. Randy Newman wasnât sure it would make a good fit for Toy Story 2, wondering if kids would be bored with a somber ballad. Then, Hanks and Allen played the song. They both ended up crying, and the song made the cut, leading to many more tears from audiences.
Shit I was like 8 when I watched this and I was crying
I initially thought it was a happy song when I was a kid so I didn't cry lol
Well shows what Randy Newman knew, lol
yup@@theemperormoth5089
24:48 Fun Fact: A code 5-46, in Buzz's universe, is the escort of royalty; to be specific: alternate dimension royalty. Which is why utility belt Buzz believes there are two "real" Buzz's and calls Woody "Your majesty." xD
Ah that's why he bows to him. I nerver got that
I love this sequel. I canât wait for your reaction to Toy Story 3!
Toy story 3 is so good
â@@fnaf_popIt's the best one for sure
@@fnaf_pop my most Favorite one out of all of them
@@nabrna3663Definitely where they should have ended it
@@DrinkCactusCooler*where they did end it (except for the Christmas specials those were great)
The voice of Al is not Marlon from Finding Nemo. Al is voiced by Wayne Knight. You may know him as Dennis Nedry from Jurassic Park.
But fun fact: it is the same actor for Marlin in the Latin American Spanish dub.
@JiReyAnimation That is a fun fact. I honestly didn't know that. It's probably because I've only seen the English versions.
He was also Zurg in the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command spin off movie and TV show.
Also probably his most notable role as Newman in Seinfeld.
@Daltinian95 I keep forgetting that he also played Zurg. But the film that introduced me to him was Space Jam. Good times.
He's also Newman in Seinfeld. That's probably who most people know him as
When you dig into the lore of Toy Story, it seems like Woody is truly a one of a kind. Take the fact that it seems the Toy Museum was willing to pay "anything," it would seem like this guy was possibly going to get hundreds of thousands of dollars, or maybe even more than a million. When you also notice they were not interested in the collection without Woody, it puts into perspective just how valuable he really is. He could be the proto-type Woody that for whatever reason never went into mass production, or was only a limited release.
Another thing that's mentioned by Tour Guide Barbie if I recall correctly, is that the reason the Buzz Lightyear aisle is fully stocked is because on the initial release for Buzz Lightyear, they didn't make enough of them to meet the demand and so they sold out quickly. After that they produced a ton of Buzz but then it seems the demand has plateaued.
Trust me, Seb, you're absolutely valid for having tingles while watching old man getting Woody fixed.
Woody being fixed was the actual first ultimate ASMR experience (even tho we didnt know it was one back then lol) for the whole generation of kids that are grown ups now and still watch ASMR till this day (well, at least i do).
Couldn't have said it better myself, it just scratches the right itch
Honestly that also felt so satisfying
It's even edited in a way that we make our videos nowadays ð so perfect and satisfying to watch
No kidding
The voice actor for the âchicken manâ is Wayne Knight. He played Dennis nerdy in Jurassic park and the elephant in Tarzan
Fun thing I noticed: at 13:50 when Buzz is giving his speech, it seemed different than what I remember. Turns out the UK version has a globe behind him where the US version fades into the the US flagð cool thing I learned about this movie over 20 years later
oh yes the US version has the American flag in the background
I say "not today Zurg!" on a regular basis throughout my daily life ðð. Also this film was an extra hit with me as a kid because my I'm a Jessie. Costume birthday party? I'm covered!
i use to watch this all the time as a kid. probably seen it over a 100 times so good
same
@@Kenny-ep2nf I remember the VHS
@@BarneyJutton I had the VHS for both the first and second movie, hahaha good times aye
13:54 when Buzz was making his big speech, and the globe was shown it used to be the American flag. I donât know why they changed it.
The American flag is for the American version in Britain and other places they changed it
If I remember correctly, the whole Buzz and Zurg reference to Star Wars was meant to be more of a joke rather than be taken seriously.
I LMAO at it all the time
My favourite Pixar movie! Everything about this movie was executed perfectly: great characterisation of the main trio (Woody, Buzz, and Jessie), stunning animation, incredible action sequences, a moving soundtrack, and so many memorable quotes.
Another thing that really intrigues me is that for some odd reasons, I used to picture the scene where Buzz meets Utility Belt Buzz to be re-enacted in live action by Chris Evans back in 2014/2015, so you can imagine how pleasantly surprised I was to see Captain America fighting himself in Avengers: Endgame and then Chris being cast to voice Buzz in the Lightyear movie...
seb! that "tingly feeling" during the repairing scene is called asmr, this movie is the first time many of us experience it :-)
This is My favorite Toy Story movie, and maybe that is partially because I grew up with the Two Disc DVD version that had all those special features I loved to explore as a kid, either way it was really fun
26:06 With there being two Chris Evanses and everything! ððð
I always loved how the Toy Story movies explored the themes of purpose, life, death and existencialism. This movie in particular has such a good story on mortality and the meaning of life. We're all gonna die and everything we love will be gone one day. It is a terrifying truth, but a truth nontheless. You can spend your whole life living in fear of it or you can enjoy everything that you have while you still have it.
As Woody said it: "It'll be fun while it lasts."
But the difference is with death the soul actually goes somewhere else, like the person doesn't cease to exist. There's heaven and hell afterwards
@@Kenny-ep2nf That depends depends on everyone's belief. I respect that you do believe in it, but it's not really for me
This one was amazeballs!
I got my daughter the super happy-joyjoy Jessie doll. She was loved and dirtied and destroyed. But she lived a well loved life.
Sebâs laugh makes me happy ð
same
This film is in the class of sequels that are better than the first one. The first one is beautiful... this one is beyond fantastic!
Prepare to cry for the 3rd one ð
One of the greatest sequel of all time
Agreed
3:18 there is movie called Lightyear, and better yet voiced by Chris Evans too
I swear the cleaning woody scene is one of the most satisfying scenes ever.
7:36 âget your dirty hands off it you b****â!!! ðĪĢðĪĢ that was too funny!
Just Seb being Seb
The guy at 16:07 has actually featured in Pixar before, he was in a short called Geri's game, that was released with Bugs Life the year prior. So it was a nice little cameo in Toy Story 2 :)
I recognized him
I can assure you that the scene where Woody is dreaming was definitely traumatizing as a child.
7:38 the laugh I laughed scared the dog and the cats awake lmao
I had this movie on VHS and have probably seen it 100 times lol. This movie along with the first is ingrained in my memory ð
same
20:32 I feel called out, I have a toy horse from my childhood standing on my bookshelf, that horse turned 30 this year ð
Was this traumatising as a child?! YES. YES IT BLOODY WAS
isn't it more nostalgic? Hahaha
Jessie's backstory made me so sad as a little kid. She's definitely my favorite new character in this one. Her and Bullseye. ð
Fun fact when the music plays and the globes behind buzz, that happens in every country except USA. In the US the flag waves and the star spangled banner plays
There once was a Brother Bear Happy Meal for like the Disney Movie. They had like an eagle plushie for the one brother and I was so obsessed with it and took it everywhere I went ! XD
The backstory of how the this film was made is absolutely insane. 90% of the movie got mysteriously deleted. Luckily an animator had been working from home and had most of what had been lost, but when they presented what they had to the heads of Pixar, they didnât like it and had to redo most of the film in a span of under a year as they refused to change the theater release date. ðŽ
This is my favorite Toy Story movie. Because of the Buzz video game opening scene, Jessieâs backstory, cross the road scene, the satisfying cleaning scene, Zurg, Al, the airport chase sceneâĶ I could talk about this movie for hours! ðĪ ðĐâð
Did you notice that Luxo Jr (the little lamp) makes a cameo on the begining ?
You forgot about the Star Wars referenceð
Did you know that Zurg winds up in Sunnyside daycare eventually?
Love your video man, keep up, much loveâĪ
Its crazy how we have the same scenes that we found satisfying. From that Buzz scene where he was jumping from those floating things and Woodyâs makeover. I couldnât describe it when I was still a kid watching this movie and how I found them so satisfying and I still do now. Anyway, this sequel was such a great one but my favorite has to be the 3rd one. Looking forward to you finishing the entire franchise âĪïļ
The gold plated poke.on cards will forever be the best toys have gotten.
I also remember my older cousins collecting the back street boys toys as well.
This has the most satisfying scene ever, the fixing of woodyð
Pure ASMR
If you notice Bazooka Janeâs hat is the same hat Andy wears. There is a theory that Janeâs original owner is Andyâs mom.
Toy story 3 is my favorite just due to the fact it's a much darker tone
I never really saw Woody and Jesse in a romantic relationship and saw them as siblings, Bullseye like their dog, and Prospector their father figure. They're like his original family but Woody never knew them, Andy's toys are the adoptive members, but that's not how Prospector sees it. The tragic factor is that Woody never knew about his past, but eventually it will catch up to him and reclaim, changing everything he knew about himself that makes him conflicted about everything.
Toy Story 2 is my favorite of the movies to this point. So clever. Lol
And the bloopers at the end are the best haha
As for favorite Happy Meal ToyâĶ I loved the Tyâs (Beanie babies). ð
Same, Toy Story 2 is soo nostalgic aye
I watched this movie so many times as a kid. I now have a daughter and watched it with her for the first time again in years. And when buzzâ wings got **ahem** excited ð I about fell off the couch because I never noticed it before then lmfao
I always said there's things we notice and understand only as an adult when we watch a movie of our childhood ð
7:53 LMAO Seb seems like he took it personally ð
If Andy saw the chicken man taking woody, Andy would've went demon mode trying to get woody back
Andy woulda beat been hella pissed
You are the second reactor who I've watched watch this movie who didn't know who the guy that fixed Woody is!
Look up the Pixar short of the old guy playing chess with himself. It's iconic!
Did you know that Luxo Jr makes a cameo on the begining of the movie ?
There is this cool theory that the toy fixer is another human who's aware of the toys being alive (aside from Sid). He handles Woody with such care almost as if it's a real creature. Surely I believe he's just very passionate about his profession but it's still cool to think about nonetheless.
I think he knows
Can't miss a seb upload.
He an OG
The third one will pull on your heartstrings especially if you grew up watching the first two.
My fav Toy Story!!!! I absolutely love this one ðĨ°
Canât wait to see your reaction to the next one as in my opinion itâs the best Pixar movie
Is the 3rd your favorite?
9:11 Actually Seb, he just sounds like Marlin. The one who voiced him is Wayne Knight known as Dennis Nedry from Jurassic Park.
9:13 no nemos dad is comedian Albert Brooks, the chicken guy is voiced by Wayne Wright who i know as the thief from Jurassic Park
This movie is still the best computer animated project ever, I regularly watch it whenever I'm bored and got nothing else to watch on TV. I find it ironic how Buzz was the one to knock some sense into Woody despite the opposite occurring in the previous movie
i swear kids who have zurg and buzz toys in the toystory world would have a room of constant warfare ð
sounds like fun hahahaaa
Youâre dead-on about Legos Seb, you need a flamethrower for that shizz! ððð
Nemo's dad was Albert Brooks. Al the Chicken Man was voiced by Wayne Knight who played Dennis, the hacker/crook in Jurassic Park. Also the Prospector was voiced by Kelsey Grammer who played Frasier and Beast from X-Men 3.
& Sideshow Bob
One of the best sequels ever! Love this movie sm ððū also canât wait for you to see 3, itâs made 10 years after the first and itâs actually crazy to see how far the animation comes, I think youâll be blown away by it!
Toy story 1 and 2 were my childhood these movies have a special place in my heart . Growing up my siblings qouted 2 all the time!
I am so beyond stoked for you ro watch the 3rd! Its my favorite of the 4! The animation and story telling is top notch in 3!
This was my favorite movie to watch!ððð
Toy Story 2 has been my favourite in the series since release. They improved upon what they did in the first one in just about every way and introduced new characters that became popular mainstays.
This is soo good! Can't wait for the other ones, and the rest of the ice ages moviesð
Seb's reaction to 'I am your father' scene is hilarious
He couldn't help it hahaha
17:33 I think the majority of people were so satisfied during that scene. I could watch that for a whole entire film
7:37 was my exact same reaction every time
I feel like it's psycho to NOT feel tingles when watching a disney/pixar film
100%
Funny how Seb literally mentions the plot for Toy Story 4 unintentionally
Loved your reaction to this movie, Seb!
In case no one else has told you yet: S'mores are a traditional campfire snack in North America. We make it with a toasted marshmallow (which is tasty enough on its own), sandwiched between two graham crackers with a piece of chocolate. A most excellent combination.
I'm so glad you reacted to this saga! I couldn't wait for you to react to this movie, it's one of my favorites ð
Yes Woodys dream was traumatizing ð This movie will forever be my favorite, everything about it is so perfect
best happy meal toys by far were any sonic ones (real recognizes real) and any of the speaker ones, playing songs from like sugarbabes and shit, that was elite
Yes yes yes yes yes
This came out in 1999
And al is voice by Wayne knight
âhow are they going to fit in all these toys next timeâ they solve that problem pretty quick in 3 ð
For me Toy Story 2 is the best sequel, I just everything about this film so much!!
It still holds up well even till now

I can't wait for you to do Toy Story 3 it get's a bit dark
Some good ol toy story 2 ASMR before the tear jerker comes in a bitð
This movie is very interesting once you know the whole backstory behind it. This movie was supposed to be a direct to VHS sequel with entirely different things. Jesse was supposed to be a cactus, Bullseye was supposed to talk, and Buzz and Other Buzz was supposed to have a entirely different story where Other Buzz gave Buzz his belt after meeting. However when the heads of Pixar saw this version, they hated it and told the makers of the movie that the movie was gonna be coming to cinema, and the movie was to be completely changed. The cactus was replaced by Jesse, Bullseye lost his voice, and Buzz and Other Buzzâs story got changed.
2:44 - Toy Story was made in 1995, Toy Story 2 was made in 1999, so 4 years.
A great nostalgic movie, I watch it when I feel like nothings going right, it takes me back
Part 2 is the one I always rewatch a lot growing up.
The fan theory is that the collection as a whole, with Woody in it, was worth about $200,000. So when Al got Mr. Konishi to "add another zero to the price," he negotiated it up to $2 million. No wonder he had that crazy reaction.
I wasn't expecting Seb with a cool backstory. Guy was a toy merchant.
So begins the long Pixar tradition of ripping your heart out through your eyes.
8:00 There's a halloween short where it shows Woody is worth around 2,000 dollars.
The exception to the rule of sequels never being as good.
I am forever scarred by the movie SMALL SOLDIERS by moving animated Barbie dolls.... I can't see this the same way ever againðððð
I love when you do animated movies! Definitely watch the last two installments of Toy Story, the 3rd one's my favourite cuz of the villain. And if you can please watch Finding Dory, it will break your heart and fix it again
16:05 For the people from 90s, like me, do you guys remember that at the Bug's Life VHS, the movie started with a short movie of an old guy playing chest with himself? I it this same guy here isn't it?
22:42 The Finnish dub actually directly uses the term "Happy Meal" during this scene.
I love this movie so much. All I have to say.
Yes! my first Pixar movie that I had ever watched as a child!
This is my favorite Toy Story, and yes the scene where Woody is being repaired is extremely satisfying
