Tim Allen is the TOY Buzz.
I find it hard to judge Chris Evans bacause his movie never gave him a chance to really show his skills as his character is extremely generic. The entire movie is generic actually

Before they got Tim Allen for Buzz, they offered it to Billy Crystal, who turned it down.
He still says to this day it was the biggest mistake he ever made, and so when he was offered Mike Wazowski in Monsters Inc, he jumped on it.
I would pay anything to see footage of Tom Hanks shouting "YOU. ARE. A. TOY!!!!"
This was the first full length cg cartoon ever. It is iconic. Watch all of them you will not regret it
He wasn't trying to knock Buzz out the window. He was just trying to get him stuck between the dresser and the wall. But Buzz jumped out of the way at the last second, causing the knock out the window.

Absolutely a franchise that you should see through to the end. 3, in particular, I find to be a stellar film.
Just remember to watch all the way through the credits! Pixar was famous for their mid- and post-credit fun long before Marvel made it a thing.
Woodys voice box is the only thing Tom hanks doesn't voice.
Those were done by his brother.

There's another living toys-based movie that came before this one called "Small Soldiers", I highly recommend it to those who love action and cool looking toys

after i saw toy story i struggled SUPER hard to ever get rid of or retire a single toy/stuffed animal. lowkey turned me into a kid hoarder cuz i was worried my toys would be sad if i didn't want to play with them anymore lmao

It's always a nice feeling watching someone else watch Toy Story for the first time. One of my three favorite movies as a kid in the 90s (others were Muppet Treasure Island and The Pagemaster) and I still feeling good inside rewatching it now and then as an adult

This movie was groundbreaking because it used the CG animation in a smart way: make plastic toys the main focus instead of fleshy characters. I suspect this is also why Pixar loves anthropomorphic main characters.
This was completely state of the art in '95, huge crowd pleaser at the cinema. Even jaded 17 year old me loved it, but then I was already fascinated by PIXAR's work - so an entire feature by them was always going to be exciting to me. Toy Story 2 is just as great if not better. Bring tissues.
Hercules is another great movie you should definitely watch.

My nephew was obsessed with Toy Story about 2/3 years ago, got all the toys and we could hear him playing with them it was so nostalgic of us doing it 😭 so to answer your question;yes kids love it still

One thing about me though is... if enough anxiety is hitting me (at the same time as sadness is hitting me) during a movie scene, I CAN'T cry for some reason. And for ME, for Toy Story 3... the anxiety "won" lol. BUT on the OTHER hand... recently, certain scenes from the movie "Nimona" got me JUST AS BAD as Avengers: Endgame got Seb(!). In fact, Nimona was the FIRST movie to "get me" during RE-watches times (11 times total)! I was totally shocked at that, because it's usually difficult to find a movie to make me cry at all, and until "Nimona", NO movie had ever made me cry more than once (!)

I was 3 or 4 the first time I saw this movie, and I still love it, and that song will never not be iconic.
Toy Story 1, 2, and 3 are all masterpieces I highly recommend watching those. Toy Story 3 has a perfect ending that was supposed to be the end but Disney is greedy and made an unnecessary 4th and an even more unnecessary 5th confirmed.

One movie I suggest you watch next is Coraline if you haven’t seen it. It’s truely one of the best stop motion films ever created and it’s an amazing movie. Highly recommend
Now that you've started the Toy Story franchise I recommend watching the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command movie, I used to love that as a kid and I still do to this day and the soundtrack of that movie was banging.
The Toy Story characters did at one point fall to the ground and play dead at the phrase “Andy's coming”, but once people became aware of it, they started doing it so much that the staff ended up injuring themselves, so it was stopped.
I remember toy story 3 coming out about the time I was in kindergarten and watching it so much the DVD got scratched 😂
As someone who makes one of a kind custom dolls (breaking them and putting them back together with parts of other dolls), I kinda feel bad for Sid 😅 All he needs is an Etsy shop and he'd go from "psychopath" to "artist who makes unique creations" 😂

They were originally supposed to have a GI Joe blown up, but Hasbro refused, saying they were upset with them blowing it up. The compromise they reached was that they could have Potato Head instead. Pixar agreed, and they made it a Combat Carl instead.

I had the toy soldiers too with the parachutes & my mom used to get pissed when I’d leave them around & she’d step on them, but really in my defense it was our dog Tip who always strewn them around 😆
The animation team for Toy Story perfected the movement of the Green Army Men by gluing some sneakers to a sheet of wood and trying to walk around with them on.
It always shocks me to remember that in the first movie the other toys of Andy are so mean and easy to judge while are retconned into great faithful friends in the sequels and shorts

All Toy Story movies are great. Even the shorts. That being said, I would watch only 1 - 3, because the third one is not just a perfect movie, but also a perfect ending of the whole story. Number four is technically awesome, but feels absolutely unnecessary.

The toys used to fall to the ground if a person said, “Andy’s coming.” Sadly, the practice stopped due to safety issues.

I love how perspective works with this movie. Lets say the toys weren't alive. Sid is just a normal kid doing stupid things unsupervised, but its just how he plays. Teases his sister. And is actually really creative with mixing up the toys. His dad was hinted to being a drunk, and obviously not having good parents. Another thing I like is when Sids door is opened, the toys immediately tried to block the door, the spider baby head shook their head, and the doll head on the rolling toy was on lookout. I never noticed that hint that they were good for the longest time Lol.
You used to be able to shout "Andy's coming" but they stopped it because it became a hazard and once people caught on, they were doing it all the time so it became a hassle for the performers. But yeh they did used to fall to the ground :)

My ex girlfriends son asked me to play the crane game with him once, I was so happy when he pulled off a Toy Story and won 2 at once, the second seemed to be holding onto the foot of the first

Woody's plan was to make Buzz falling behind the closet so it was really an accident.
I remember respected more my toyes after seeing this movie. I even kept some.
It's funny because despite being french, I understood only when I saw the movie as an adult, the joke about Marie-Antoinette and her little sister
They get better and better, by the end of the third film you think that's it, the perfect wrap up to a trilogy....and then, wow film four hits even harder!
Imo the 4th was completely unnecessary and just a cash grab that taints the legacy of a beautiful trilogy, however I’m glad you enjoyed it maybe I’ll give it a second chance.

All Toy Story movies are solid, including the spin-off Buzz starring the love of your life Chris Evans lol the third one's my fav, but there's nothing quite like the first movie in the franchise that started it all. Hope you do them all!

Seb, you are about to embark on one of the most nostalgic adventure with this franchise. I personally grew up with these characters.

You should definitely watch part 2. 1 and 2 are the best for me, and 3 was okay. Any sequels after that I have not seen cause I just have a feeling it won't be or feel the same.
You gotta do Toy Story 2 and 3. #2 is imo just as good as the original, and #3 will make you cry. Also if you do watch #3, fun fact: they made it so long after the first two that it’s still the same voice actor for Andy.
The reason the movie focuses on the toys is because they just couldn't get human models to look good enough, that's why they severely limit the screentime of humans to only what is strictly necessary, with the toys it's easier to make them look good since the audience expects them to have wonky proportions and plastic-like textures.
Now that they have the Toy Story 2 and 3 human models maybe they should go back and revise the ones in this movie, not just replace them but maybe just make the old ones look less creepy.
1and2. One of theeee best movies ever made. Absolutely loved it as a child. Absolutely love it now.
The second one is even better.
Woody was originally supposed to be the main villain and also a ventriloquist's doll. During the window scene, Woody pushed Buzz out instead of Buzz being knocked out by the lamp.
