Apparently, the biggest dispute in getting all these licensed gaming characters into the film was their size. Nintendo wouldn't say yes to using Bowser unless he was bigger than the other characters in the bad guy meeting. Capcom also had the same argument for their street fighter characters. So funny.

Something that a lot of people don't think about, and something that makes Calhoun's back stories so much more gut wrenching is that one of the bugs ate her husband, and since they turn into what they eat, the bug turned into her husband. So she had to look into the face of her newly wed husband while she killed him.

My absolute favorite part with king candy was when he talked with Ralph about venelope. The scariest part was that king candy was completely right. Venelope would risk getting the game unplugged. He just hid the facts that would save venelope and make her back to normal.

I love king candy/turbo. he’s so disgustingly excessively evil and yet it never feels over the top or nonsensical. he was an egotistical asshole in the first place who turned into a twisted psychotic egotistical asshole after he lost everything because he was an asshole and it was entirely his fault. He technically has a tragic backstory. It’s been confirmed that he was effectively living in the shadows alone for like 15 years before sugar rush was plugged in. Probably why he comes off as sorta jumpy now. But he was a bad person already before any of that even happened, and it didn’t humble him, it just made him worse. I feel like that’s honestly a pretty rare sort of character

That button sequence King Candy does to access the game code is what's called the Contra/Konami Code.

The little orange character with the long nose is Q*bert from the game of the same name. It's an 8-bit game created in 1982 and was ported to many of the 8-bit and hand-held systems as well as prevalent in arcades.
Wikepedia describes it as " 2D action game with puzzle elements that uses isometric graphics to create a pseudo-3D effect. The objective of each level in the game is to change every cube in a pyramid to a target color by making Q*bert, the on-screen character, hop on top of the cube while avoiding obstacles and enemies. Players use a joystick to control the character. ... The Q*bert character became known for his "swearing" and "Q*bertese sound" - an incoherent phrase made of synthesized speech generated by the sound chip and a speech balloon of nonsensical characters that appear when he collides with an enemy."
Q*bert was a fun game that could get fiendishly difficult at higher levels and has an instantly recognisable looking playfield. It's worth a look at some of the ports, you might even find a MAME version if you're into those.

The bad guy label is REALLY deceptive for poor Ralph. I mean, his backstory in the games cut scene paints him as being the main character since it shows WHY he wrecks things; cause he had his simple home in his stump, which got moved into the dump so the Nicelanders could build their apartment building where he lived. So, naturally, he reacts in justified anger to having his home disrupted. It's not the best way to handle it, but it's understandable.
Of course, don't think I'm saying Felix is a bad guy himself. He didn't have the apartment block built, he's just fixing the damage. I wouldn't even say the Nicelanders are bad guys themselves as they are just living in this apartment building when here comes Ralph, destroying their homes for no reason. Felix undoes the damage and Ralph gets booted out to the mud puddle for causing destruction that's unwarrented. Of course, this is all in the story of the game itself, not of the movie. Two different stories here. Ralph just owns the title of "bad guy" cause it's simple as he reacts the wrong way by getting made and being destructive, with Felix being the clear "good guy" cause he undoes the damage. Only issue is when the title becomes a defining trait that the other game characters sadly support that the world is black and white. Good guys can be trusted, bad guys are to be avoided, despite the fact that at the end of the day they are all essentially actors who have some quirks to their personality that make them act how they do.

King Candy is Alan Tudyk. You might know him as Tucker from Tucker & Dale vs Evil, K-2SO from Rogue One, Sunny from I-Robot, Steve the Pirate from Dodgeball, etc.

I'm a big-time gamer (PC, tabletop RPGs, board & card, and in the past consoles and arcades), so this movie was definitely my jam. The sequel isn't quite *as* good, of course, but it's worth a watch and is actually a lot of fun, especially for gamers and people who spend a lot of time online. I think you've already reacted to/seen Free Guy? I'll check, but in case you didn't, that is a must-watch comedy for gamers. EDIT: Yep, you saw Free Guy! I thought I remembered seeing your reaction to that :)
Is it wrong I thought the grumpy Sour Ball was adorable? lol

He was created to be the bad guy of the game that's his job but that doesn't mean thats who he is in real life.
You can't blame Ralph for getting upset or angry based on the way the guys from the apartment treat him.

So in the Wreck-It-Ralph-verse... There are a bunch of gamers who will swear that King Candy is a real racer in "Candy Rush" and every other gamer, and the game maker are like no there's no such character.

Imo, wreck it Ralph had enough references without it being overly fan servicey. It was an amazing heartfelt original story.
Mario movie on the other hand was made almost exclusively for the fans (and kids), but knew exactly what it was and succeeded in that as well.
Overall, wreck it Ralph is the better movie that happened to revolve around video games.
