I love the fact that Woody being fixed by the old guy is one of the reasons he's leaning more towards staying because he was influenced by the dream he had. Andy wont get him fixed, throws him away. At least Al fixed him right? In the end, Andy fixes him himself while Al got someone else to fix him. I love the writing in this franchise.
It's one of those (sadly quite rare) movies where the sequal is better but it's only better bcs it's a sequal. The first one did such a good job of establishing characters that it could just jump straight to it and build further
Honestly, I know it's not the popular view, but I don't even think this one is better. In my opinion 1 is still the best Toy Story film and they get progressively worse as they go on (similar to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, with the slight exception that 3 is better than 2 in that instance.)
the restoration scene for woody is so satisfying. BTW Woody would still be "genuine" since he has all of his parts, he's just restored to a more excellent condition. If you meant Mint condition, that is supposed to be what the Prospector was, mint in the box, never opened, never played with.
@@Kenny-ep2nf I tried playing it as a kid but was SO bad at it... I kept pressing the "hint" button but not understanding what the shadowy figure of Woody was supposed to be showing me.

29:24 Fun Fact: A code 5-46, in Buzz’s universe, means the mission is the escort of royalty - Alternate Dimensional Royalty to be specific. That’s why Belt Buzz can believe how there are two “real” Buzz’s and why he bows to Woody. xD
"rizz up the Barbies and ask them to jump on the thing" was so funny I don't know why lmao Love your Reaction channel and I can't wait to see what's next!!
2 and 3 are spectacular and I love the friendship dynamic we get after movie one spends the runtime building it up. They’re just so iconic. And this movie gives us Jessie and Bullseye and Zurg! It’s great
@johns881 I just watched 4 recently for the first time, and it was exceptional. Far better than 3. I barely remember 3, and I saw that one in the theater in 3D.
Barbie's statement that the store got overloaded by Buzzes due to low stock, high demand, was based on what happened in real life. Not a lot of people were confident in a CGI movie
When Bug's Life was released, Pixar added an animated short film to the start of it called "Geri's Game." It is definitely worth watching, and the character featured in it is also the "cleaner" in Toy Story 2.
Jessie was my favorite toy when i was a little girl. Her montage song also why I never gave away a single toy as a child. I'm pretty sure I still have most of my childhood toys and my mom blames this movie for it. xD ( what's crazy is the team made this movie in only 9 months )
If you go back to the moment where Buzz and the other toys decide to let Woody stay with the Round Up Gang, if you listen in the background you can hear Jessie from the Tv show say, “Sheriff Woody! I knew you’d make it!” It’s implied that that was the actual end of the Woody’s Roundup finale! Notice how it’s Stinky Pete/Prospector that says the show was cancelled, but if that really was the true finale then that means he was lying about the show being cancelled and only said it to keep Woody, Jessie, and Bullseye from leaving.
On the other hand, that could have been any episode of the show. It seemed like Jessie was the designated damsel character and probably got into trouble more than once.
Why would the show having a finale have anything to do with whether they went to Japan or not? That wasn't the reason they were going to Japan. Even with a finale, they still wanted purpose by going to Japan to be in a museum.
@@d.b.4671Woody had the tape tuned to the ending of the episode where he starts to jump the canyon, and the tape continued playing while Buzz and Woody argued. It wouldn't make sense for an earlier episode to play on the same tape after that one. The logical conclusion is that the tape continued playing and it was the final episode that played next.
There's a fan theory that Jessie's original owner was Andy's mom. When you look at Andy's cowboy hat, it's themed after Jessie's hat, not Woody's, just like Jessie's original owner had.
From what I've heard, the general consensus on the rest of the movies seems to be that 3 is the perfect ending and a lot of people consider it on par with 2, 4 was good but unnecessary, and I haven't heard a single person looking forward to 5.
38:57 This outtake does get removed on Disney+, mainly because of the real-life "back-stage" stories with actors/ actresses that have occurred in real life. It's definitely a joke that didn't age well. 😶
The whole “didn’t age well” thing is so stupid. If it’s still funny or relevant in any way, then it “aged” just fine. Besides who do you think you are to decide what is or is not acceptable?
Another theory for why some toys know when they are toys or real figures. Batteries. Pretty much most of the toys are battery free. In the first movie they make references to stores they sat in till they got bought. Woody pull string is a windup box, but buzz needs batteries. So while in the box as mentioned in the movie, hes in "hyper sleep" but then when hes unboxed at andys party, buzz has had no time to get use to the idea of being a toy. As for the utility belt Buzz, its a store model, batties already inside but his mission is securing all other buzz. He doesn't get played with while on the display so he has no child interaction. So basically battery toys need to be acclimated when they are opened or they will think they arent a toy.

This might already have been said but this movie began as a straight to DVD release. Midway through production, they realized it was much better than that and changed it to a theatrical release.
Thank you, Oscar! 🪀 The interlude featuring Sarah McLachlan's voice singing "When She Loved Me" makes me cry like a baby... even after numerous re-watches.
I can't wait for you to react to the third movie. There's a time skip in the third movie. Equivalent to the time between the second and third movie, which adds to the emotional impact of the third one.
I recall hearing a long time ago that Toy Story 2 was originally going to be a straight to video/DVD release (like so many other Disney sequels were at the time), but the movie ended up so good that they gave it a full theatrical release instead.
Besides The Lion King, the Toy Story franchise has been a huge part of my life. Every time I see Jessie’s backstory and hear that song, my heart breaks for her. It’s actually been confirmed that Emily is actually Andy and Molly’s mom. The proof is that Andy’s hat is the exact one you see Emily wearing as a kid. So it makes me so happy to see the circle come complete when Andy plays with the toy that once belonged to his mother. Believe it or not Toy Story 2 almost never existed; its had accidentally gotten deleted. Thankfully Galyn Susman's backups famously saved the film. 🤠🧑🏻🚀🐴💛💙❤️
There’s a theory that Emily is actually Andy’s mom, based on the montage in the flashback. The transition away from the western theme was to the flower power/hippie era, and if it is true to the times, Andy’s mom would’ve spent her childhood in that time frame.
My fav movie form the franchise Toy Story. And Jessie is my fav character, my favorite intrepide cowgirl 10:55 I'd say my fav moment when I met her, I also love the dinamyc of her and Woody. I am saddened by what happened to her, I would like to hug her, like my little doll Jessie that I still keep
12:37 fun fact: those are all parts of Pixar shorts that were made before Toy Story. Check them out maybe react to them 😊. These shorts are special especially shown before the actual Pixar movie in theaters.
12:07 all the toys take on the personalities of the kids that play with them. Woody is an old family toy that Andy inherited (there’s a theory he belonged to Andy’s dad) that’s why his personality is so fiercely loyal
I actually noticed the foreshadowing when I watched your video of the first Toy Story movie. There's a commercial for Al's Toy Barn playing at one point in the first Toy Story movie. It's hilarious to re-watch the first movie after you've watched the second one, knowing that Al is the bad guy of the second one, and then see the commercial for Al's Toy Barn in the first movie. Very ironic.
29:49 "Somewhere in that pad of stuffing is a toy that taught me that life is only worth living if you're being loved by a kid. And I came all this way to rescue that toy because I believed him." That is one of if not my favorite Buzz line in the whole trilogy. (4th movie isn't canon to me.)
21:54 Fun fact: Mattel didn't let Disney have the right to include their toys in the first Toy Story. Disney made the joke in the first movie, "And I'm from Mattel. Well, I'm not actually from Mattel, I'm actually from a smaller company that was purchased in a leveraged buy-out. Well, I don't really understand the financials, but..." They were all over being in the second movie after they saw the succes of the first one.
Crazy fun fact about the movie: they came incredibly close to disaster during production. Someone working on the movie mistakenly typed in a command in a line of code that started deleting the movie. All of it. Months of work, disappearing before their eyes. I think it was almost entirely gone by the time they were able to put a stop to it. Their saving grace turned out to be another animator that was on maternity leave. She'd taken home a copy of the work they'd done so far so that she could keep working while she was gone, and now had the ONLY copy of the movie. They sent someone over to her house to get her computer, wrapped it up in about a million blankets, buckled it into the back seat, and took the world's most cautious drive back to the studio. I like to think about this whenever I think I've made a monumental mistake, just to give myself perspective. 😅
Toy Story 2 is my favourite but you'll absolutely love Toy Story 3 as well - I can't wait for you to get to that one. I'm also looking forward to you watching Bugs Life. It's certainly a hidden gem in my opinion and has a great message.
I take the fact that woody is such an old toy and has probably been hand me downed soo many times he probably forgot his original programming. Bc we saw w. Buzz they all come factory reset n get memories and change as they r played w. And loved by ppl.
I personally think the delusion part is a defect in the Buzz Lightyear line. Woody’s lack of knowledge of his franchise has also been theorized to be because he was the prototype Woody doll.
@@nicholaspeters9919I agree. The Roundup toys all seem to have very unique personalities that do not necessarily aligned with the way that they were portrayed in the cartoon. Especially the Prospector, who was obviously embarrassed that the show made him look like a dummy.
For the memorabilia scene, they gave Tom Hanks a bunch of pictures of merch and asked him to improve Considering Stinky Pete was on a dime store shelf, I think he was the scrappy of the show. The character everybody really hated
Was there only one Woody doll? Andy's father was also named Andy-Andy Sr. -and he wrote his name on Woody's boot. The reason Woody is such a rare toy is because he's the only Woody doll that was ever made-just a prototype. Long story short, Andy ends up with a Woody prototype, the absolute only Woody doll in existence (the official line was never manufactured due to a new interest in space toys). So, honestly after looking through google, Woody is only one of a kind unlike Buzz who we see the isles are full of buzzes but there is only one woody doll and the whole collection was only made of only one each and that's it. Which made them super rare.
Fun fact: the film almost never saw the light of day... A computer bug erased the files from Pixar's servers. Fortunately, an employee who had recently given birth and was working from home had copies, so they were able to get back to work. This is the same employee behind the latest "Buzz Lightyear" film!
23:30 Yup it is. And behind the scenes fact, when tom Hanks and Tim Allen (voices of woody and buzz) saw the end result in the post production filming. They both teared up at it.
I remember watching Toy Story 2 several times in my childhood and then having the movie as the perfect thing to watch on the first day of 2023 with my mother and aunt, such good memories.
This might sound random, but I’ve just thought of the perfect film for you to react to. The Big Year (2011) starring Jack Black, Steve Martin and Owen Wilson. It’s a comedy, but not the sort of comedy you’d expect these actors to be in. It’s very lighthearted and, for lack of a better word, cozy. I think you’d love it.
I'd like to suggest watching Mirror Mirror-the telling of snow white, and You Again-a girl discovers her brother is marrying her high school bully. I know I left this on the last video, but I really want it to happen, so I'll just keep doing it!
Marshmallows 😂 I've only seen the first three movies love your reactions. I felt the same with my toys after watching this I bought a buzz light-year,Woody, and I've got a Major chip Hazzard from the Small Soildgers movie since I was a kid.
Yay! I was looking forward to reacting to this, as I am the third, and I'm sure you'll appreciate just how much the animation improves with time - The details, textures, colours, rendering, etc, etc.
There's a ton of fun easter eggs in this movie if you stop to look for them. One of my personal favorites is during the scene where Ham is switching through the channels trying to find the Al's Toy Barn commercial. It's only on screen for a split second, but if you pause at just the right time, you can see a bit of a scene from Tin Toy, the animated short that played before the original Toy Story.
10:36 seriously, Al should’ve just walk across the street from the apartment to Al’s toy barn. 21:21 makes me want to make a utility belt for buzz lightyear cosplay. 32:44 I can see his missing 🦷 on the left. 34:14 📸
Not gonna lie, as a kid, (I was 5 when i saw this in theaters) I had a crush on Jessie. And yup, as I said in the comments of TS1, they are still trying to figure out proper blinking in this movie
So glad you enjoyed this one. This is one of the few sequels where a lot of the fanbase thinks the second is better than the first. The other thing about this movie series is that the kids that watched it grew up alongside Andy when watching them, so we imprinted on him in a way. All these years later, my husband still cries like a baby when Jessie's "When She Loved Me" plays.
In a chracters interveiw with the Toy Story 2 characters, Stinky Pete admits that he likes Amy's artistic face painting. This shows that he has reformed finally becoming loved by a kid.
My favorite Toy Story movie! My parents and I were on vacation in Florida when this movie came out the day before Thanksgiving in 1999. My parents and I saw this right after Thanksgiving dinner with a theater full of other people. There’s something about watching a movie with an audience of fellow fans who are laughing and crying along with you that makes this movie even more special.
0:52 The Iron Giant was actually directed by Brad Bird who later went on to direct for Pixar. 7:08 I'm guessing she told Andy she was gonna be doing this, cos she's just taking stuff. 8:23 Broken? His shoulder's just ripped. 16:45 And what was Woody gonna do once he gets his arm back? 24:40 And this must've been back in the 70s, so it's been long, long time for Jessie. 30:27 The episode playing is supposed to be Woodys Finest Hour, and while everyone was talking earlier, you can hear Jessie thanking Woody for saving them. So Prospector lied about the show being cancelled, cos i guess this song goes against his 'kids growing up' speech and sure enough it changes Woodys mind. 34:08 Damn, the paint came off, his arm's ripped again, i bet Woody's going bald again. 37:36 That's also the singing voice of Mikey from Recess.

@@SourcianMStudioi would ask wtf you’re talking about, but it doesn’t even matter. There’s nothing worse than people spreading lies and misinformation, and you yourself already said you don’t even know what you’re talking about. So it’s best to just shut up about it.
I love the writing in this franchise.
it's very poetic
It's one of those (sadly quite rare) movies where the sequal is better but it's only better bcs it's a sequal. The first one did such a good job of establishing characters that it could just jump straight to it and build further
Honestly, I know it's not the popular view, but I don't even think this one is better. In my opinion 1 is still the best Toy Story film and they get progressively worse as they go on (similar to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, with the slight exception that 3 is better than 2 in that instance.)
And so began the long and proud Pixar tradition of ripping your heart out through your eyes.
Right?! 😂😂😂
Jessie's back story left me traumatized as a kid, I felt so sorry for every toy I even accidentally left out of play afterwards 🙃
the restoration scene for woody is so satisfying. BTW Woody would still be "genuine" since he has all of his parts, he's just restored to a more excellent condition. If you meant Mint condition, that is supposed to be what the Prospector was, mint in the box, never opened, never played with.
well, *technically* nobody ever opened his box from the outside, and nobody had ever played with him.
32:01 "i am your father" "Nooooooo"
The actual video game based off of this movie was surprisingly difficult.
and pretty cool, did you play the Toy Story 3 game?
@@Kenny-ep2nf I tried playing it as a kid but was SO bad at it... I kept pressing the "hint" button but not understanding what the shadowy figure of Woody was supposed to be showing me.
@@Cacjams that’s alright mate, you’ll probably enjoy playing it now since you’re obviously older than before
You missed tour guide Barbie after the credits!! 😭😭
Also if you’re looking for another Pixar movie I highly recommend finding Nemo. My personal second fav Pixar film after Toy Story 2 and it takes place in Sydney so I’d think you’d love it! 😊😊
29:24 Fun Fact: A code 5-46, in Buzz’s universe, means the mission is the escort of royalty - Alternate Dimensional Royalty to be specific. That’s why Belt Buzz can believe how there are two “real” Buzz’s and why he bows to Woody. xD
Before you even got to the scene, just the thought of "When She Loved Me' had me tearing up. I'm freaking blubbering right now!
It’s great
Let’s not forget #4! The true ending for Andy’s toys, such a bittersweet finale:)
38:57 looks like pete wasn't just prospecting for gold......hehehe
When Bug's Life was released, Pixar added an animated short film to the start of it called "Geri's Game." It is definitely worth watching, and the character featured in it is also the "cleaner" in Toy Story 2.
I know, for those of us who knew Pixar's shorts, the character here was a delightful cameo!
I knew you’d make it!”
It’s implied that that was the actual end of the Woody’s Roundup finale!
It is truly amazing how great Buster (Andy's Dog) looks and moves. Especially after the trainwreck that was Scud (Sid's Dog) in Toy Story 1.
I wish they could remake Toy Story 1 with Toy Story 4's graphics, just as like an anniversary bluray, not a replacement, obviously.
From what I've heard, the general consensus on the rest of the movies seems to be that 3 is the perfect ending and a lot of people consider it on par with 2, 4 was good but unnecessary, and I haven't heard a single person looking forward to 5.
So basically it’s perfect as a trilogy
4 was a great movie. 3 was meh. I barely remember anything about it other than the fire scene at the end. I haven't had a desire to rewatch it either.
I am constantly changing my mind on which Toy Story is my favorite.
Jessie adds a lot to this one .
Woody's makeover is such a satisfying scene. lol
38:57 This outtake does get removed on Disney+, mainly because of the real-life "back-stage" stories with actors/ actresses that have occurred in real life. It's definitely a joke that didn't age well. 😶
i knew i hadnt seen that one!
The idea of actors getting jobs by sleeping with someone has been a trope for decades. Everyone knew it was happening. No need to take out the joke.
The whole “didn’t age well” thing is so stupid. If it’s still funny or relevant in any way, then it “aged” just fine. Besides who do you think you are to decide what is or is not acceptable?
@@Karamarika Yea but it's not exactly something that should be in a kids movie.
So basically battery toys need to be acclimated when they are opened or they will think they arent a toy.

the scene of the cleaner fixing up woody was my (and a lot of people's) introduction to ASMR 😍
I love that's he's technically a "returning character" as he''s the same old man as the character(s) in the Chess short before A Bug's Life.
And I came all this way to rescue that toy because I believed him."
That is one of if not my favorite Buzz line in the whole trilogy. (4th movie isn't canon to me.)
*"BUZZ, YOLO!!!"*
Jessie's story always hits deep & just makes me feel really bad about all my old toys wondering where they are now
21:54 Fun fact: Mattel didn't let Disney have the right to include their toys in the first Toy Story. Disney made the joke in the first movie, "And I'm from Mattel. Well, I'm not actually from Mattel, I'm actually from a smaller company that was purchased in a leveraged buy-out. Well, I don't really understand the financials, but..."
They were all over being in the second movie after they saw the succes of the first one.
For the memorabilia scene, they gave Tom Hanks a bunch of pictures of merch and asked him to improve
Considering Stinky Pete was on a dime store shelf, I think he was the scrappy of the show.
Ooof, that movie did not do well haha
Love watching 90's movies. There is something special about them.
23:30 Yup it is. And behind the scenes fact, when tom Hanks and Tim Allen (voices of woody and buzz) saw the end result in the post production filming. They both teared up at it.
I've never clicked a reaction so fast. 🎉
"Definitely shark-- monkeys would just mess with you." Almost tops g'day marshmallows as my favorite quote!
4:13 Oh! (Laughs) You got caught! 😆😆😆😆😆
I have literally been dreading the past few days waiting for this video.
The fact that the first he said was that it looked like starwars 😂 0:41
0:58 exactly
I remember watching Toy Story 2 several times in my childhood and then having the movie as the perfect thing to watch on the first day of 2023 with my mother and aunt, such good memories.
This one, the third one, and the fourth one made me cry. Such a great, nostalgic series 😁
having bloopers in an animation is crazy...they are really funny and genius for doing that
Toy's: We don't want to go back into storage!!!
Me: You realize a museum is storage right?
This might sound random, but I’ve just thought of the perfect film for you to react to. The Big Year (2011) starring Jack Black, Steve Martin and Owen Wilson. It’s a comedy, but not the sort of comedy you’d expect these actors to be in. It’s very lighthearted and, for lack of a better word, cozy. I think you’d love it.
Wholeheartedly agree! It's a strange but very welcome grouping of actors too!
I'd like to suggest watching Mirror Mirror-the telling of snow white, and You Again-a girl discovers her brother is marrying her high school bully. I know I left this on the last video, but I really want it to happen, so I'll just keep doing it!
You have no idea how much I cried for Jessie as a kid.
33:21 I never noticed it before: the announcer talking about 'the loading and unloading of passengers only'... is a reference to Airplane!
19:25 - a fun easter egg is that the old man who comes to repair Woody is the old man from the "Geri's Game" short by Pixar.
That shot of Buzz with the deadpan face showing Andy's name on his foot is the best 😂
Not gonna lie, as a kid, (I was 5 when i saw this in theaters) I had a crush on Jessie. And yup, as I said in the comments of TS1, they are still trying to figure out proper blinking in this movie
Literally the moment "When She Loved Me" starts playing I started crying...every time!😅
11:04 She had a cameo in Monsters Inc. that you reacted to recently, she was one of Boo's toys.. 😁
26:22 😅 I recall a story of how my dad's family had a Zurg and would say "the enemy wants to enter." It would walk too. 😂
19:48 Buzz is smart. Remember this, along with many other things he did in this movie while you watch the 4th movie.
Someone believe that TV from 3 broke his brain.
Bullshit.
I love the theory that Andy's mom is Emily because the cowboy hat Andy has isnt brown like Woody's but rather red like Emily and Jessie's
Everybody Needs a Woody in Their life s because he's always there for you and he tries really hard to make everybody happy 🙂 🙏 love Woody
I love the scene when Woody gets fixed by that toy repair guy, it’s so cool 😊
Fun fact, as a kid, I had never seen star wars when I first got this movie, so I thought Zurg saying "I AM your father!" was such a twist! 😂
24:30 this song is why I love this movie the most. It gets me every time, it got me as a kid. The best song in all the movies, really.
Loving your reaction to the Toy Story movies. Can't wait for the third one.
Now can you please react to Rango? It's a fantastic movie with Johnny Depp and probably my favorite animated movie.
