For 2009, I would replace Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story with New Super Mario Bros. Wii. For 2006, I would replace The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess with New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo DS. Also, for 2003, I would replace The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker with F-Zero GX. Finally, for 2012, I would replace Xenoblade Chronicles with Kid Icarus: Uprising for the Nintendo 3DS.

Another thing a lot of people loved about Fire Emblem: Three Houses was how it dove headfirst into the Grey areas of society. There was no clear hero in the story and all the villains had various shades of grey to their personalities and backstories. And unlike Fates, the developers intentionally avoided creating a 'Golden Ending' where everything works out.
Choosing Mario Kart 8 over Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze in 2014 is an insult. Mario Kart is great, don't get me wrong, but Tropical Freeze is a plataform masteclass, one of the best ever in the genre and problably the best DK game.
The same thing happens to me, it's a perfect game, a work of art in every way, the setting is the most incredible, the music as well as the dungeons as well as the story, it's also a very perfect game.
12:40 I could not be more happier to see you put Pokemon Black and White on the top of 2011! Its my favourite pokemon game. The game was amazingly refreshing for the series, in both story and gameplay. Game Freak was absolutely on their top during gen 5 :D
Skyward Sword is by far the worst Zelda, due to it's testing with motion controls. Strongest enemy in the whole game was that electric-sword goblin, while next to every other enemy/boss was a pure joke, waiting endlessly for you to attack them
@@mechaotakugamerlol you're just comparing a Jrpg with an action-adventure 2D game, you think that's logical? Also just because one game is bigger than the other doesn't mean is it better or on a higher level, and you literally just said that you haven't even played Metroid Dread.
@CodyMattwes doesn't matter what genre , still think they should have gone with Xenoblade 3. Also, who cares if I haven't played Metroid dread yet. I'm not big into metroid anyways
This is a good list! The only thing i would change is 2008- Mario Kart Wii 2011- Skyward Sword 2012- Kid Icarus Uprising or Pokemon X/Y 2014- Smash For 3DS/Wii U 2016- Splatoon 2019
Imagine if there was a Smash History tournament with 32 fighters, playing Ultimate in the first round, Smash WiiU in the second round, Brawl in the third round, Melee in the Semi-finals, and the Original in the final round. You could do it the other way around, but then you'd only have two fighters playing the game with the most character choices.
Got to 2011 and I thought 'Black and White... really?!?' and tried to think about what I would have been playing that year... then saw Xenoblade Chronicles for 2012 and remembered that it came out a year earlier in the UK... so that would have been the UK's game for 2011. That would also have left 2012 open... maybe Kid Icarus: Uprising?
Oddly enough, Black & White 2 came out in 2012 and was way better than B&W 1, so that could've been a good candidate for 2012. Also, Paper Mario: Sticker Star was pretty damn good, as well as New Super Mario Bros. 2. Pokémon Conquest (3DS) and The Last Story (Wii) are pretty obscure ones, but in my opinion those 2x are absolute gems in my book. But I agree with you on Kid Icarus: Uprising, that probably was the best game of 2012 after Xenoblade.

I did my own list, but started from 1990 because that’s where a lot of my favourite Nintendo games are from. 2012, 2016 and 2024 were hard as I’ve barely played any games from those years. Best Nintendo game every year since 1990: 1990: Super Mario World 1991: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 1992: Super Mario Kart 1993: Super Mario All Stars 1994: Super Metroid 1995: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island 1996: Super Mario 64 1997: Diddy Kong Racing 1998: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 1999: Pokemon Yellow 2000: Pokemon Gold/Silver 2001: Super Smash Bros Melee 2002: Metroid Prime 2003: Mario Kart: Double Dash 2004: Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green 2005: Advance Wars: Dual Strike 2006: Pokemon Diamond/Pearl 2007: Mario Galaxy 2008: Mario Kart Wii 2009: Wii Sports Resort 2010: Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver 2011: Super Mario 3D Land 2012: Pokemon Black/White 2 2013: Super Mario 3D World 2014: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze 2015: Yoshi’s Wooly World 2016: Pokemon Sun/Moon 2017: Mario Odyssey 2018: Super Smash Bros Ultimate 2019: Super Mario Maker 2 2020: Super Mario 3D All-Stars 2021: Metroid Dread 2022: Kirby and the Forgotten Land 2023: Super Mario Bros Wonder 2024: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

@@CodyMattwes I'll play Fire Emblem if you play Kirby, because you clearly haven't. Not to mention I've heard plenty about Fates to know that it was far from being one of the best.
@@batmanbud2 Lmao I have already played several Kirby games, Return to Dreamland, Return to Dreamland and obviously Planet Robobot (Unlike you, I do play most Nintendo series), and it was a total cakewalk of a game, the best thing I can say about it is that it was slightly above the average Nintendo 2D platformer and that's it. Also, basing your opinion on a game like Fire Emblem Fates on what you have heard about a video game from a series that you have not played and clearly know nothing about is not good for forming an opinion about it, let me tell you. Furthermore, I have already seen you cry in another video about better Nintendo games saying the same thing about another game in the series "How can Fire Emblem Awakening be a better game than my generic 3DS children's game which is my favorite?", so again, play a game in the series before you crying about it.
@CodyMattwes the only 3DS games I played in my childhood were NSMB2 and Mario Party Island Tour. Everything else I bought secondhand since Smash 3DS in 2020. And as someone who has played Tropical Freeze, Planet Robobot is still my #1 2D platformer. Even if it was just ok, though, it would've still been better than any of the other slop Nintendo put out in 2016, including Fates (I am far more intrigued by Echoes of Valentia).
@@jclkaytwo never played astral chain but I heard it’s very good so that would’ve been fine. Luigi’s mansion 3 would’ve been dumb but it’s popular and (unlike Link’s awakening) is a new game so it wouldn’t be the worst. Mario maker 2, absolutely not.
@@jclkaytwo Doesn´t care if it´s an Remake. What about Resident Evil 2? It´s also a Remake but Game oft the Year for so many Players and nobody argues against it.
I mean Kirby and the Forgotten Land was one of the best Kirby Games I played in 2022 when it came out and I actually beat it 100% so I can't wait to see what Nintendo and HAL are gonna do for the sequel for Kirby and the Forgotten Land? Because maybe we could see new playable characters like King Dedede, Meta Knight, and Clawroline teaming up with Kirby and Bandana Dee and having new copy abilities, copy ability upgrades, and new mouthful modes. and there are other Nintendo games I like playing like Star Fox Assault, Super Mario Odyssey, all the Mario Party Games, Mario Kart Double Dash, Mario Kart 8/Deluxe, Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Super Mario Bros Wonder, Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe, Kirby's Dream Buffet, and other Nintendo games I liked playing. But I hope Nintendo does give us some really good games for next year since next year will be Mario's 40th Anniversary and also whenever Switch 2 happens.
This list could have been from 1980 to 2024, because Nintendo have given us quality titles for a long time. It could have been going even further back in time, but then it would be mostly "not much else to choose from"-titles, or games that are not even video games.
Man, i gotta play xenoblade someday. Im intimidated by the length of the games and how complex they seem. Never played anything like them haha. Give me some reasons to get into it as a newcomer.
My favourite part is WB Turbo Street Brawlers for Nintendo Switch, because it has characters from Warner bros. Animation, Hanna-Barbera, DC Kids, New Line Cinema Cartoon, Looney Tunes, Cartoon Network, LEGO, Ruby-Spears cartoon, turner entertainment cartoon and Warner Animation Group. It is based on the adventure mode:subspace emissary from super smash bros. And the third-parties like shonen jump, super robot spirits, synergy sp, tezutopia, Tatsunoko and Sanrio, it’s so perfect that I am glad to hear it just like Tokyo meant to be 🥋💎👊🏻🤺🥊🦶🏻. Maybe I should care about the cartoon show called Nintendo Entertainment Show. For Warner Bros Animation , Cartoon Network, Tv Tokyo and Nintendo, so yes, I love Nintendo 135th Anniversary and Tv Tokyo Anime😊👍🇯🇵🇺🇸.
The two games I would replace would be prime 2 in 2004 over paper mario and tropical freeze over Mario kart 8.. while I agree Mario kart 8 deluxe is as good as it gets and would be the choice over tropical freeze, I don’t think the vanilla version is better than tropical freeze

I have played owned The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Super Smash Bros: Melee, The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Mario Kart: DS, The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros: Brawl. I've played Mario Kart 8 maybe and Super Smash Bros: Ultimate.
Anything with Super Mario is superb. 🎉
Unemployed bot
@StanHalen1936 Get a hobby, Stannyboy. 🎉
I'm a huge mario fan, but to say that anything with super mario is superb is just so wrong lol
I’m still waiting for you to do best animated movie villains of each year excluding Disney and Pixar.
Leaving out Luigi’s Mansion 3 for 2019 is wild 🥲
If FE3H didn’t exist then I’d agree
We need to get super smash bros movie in future
I did my own list, but started from 1990 because that’s where a lot of my favourite Nintendo games are from. 2012, 2016 and 2024 were hard as I’ve barely played any games from those years.
Best Nintendo game every year since 1990:
1990: Super Mario World
1991: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
1992: Super Mario Kart
1993: Super Mario All Stars
1994: Super Metroid
1995: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island
1996: Super Mario 64
1997: Diddy Kong Racing
1998: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
1999: Pokemon Yellow
2000: Pokemon Gold/Silver
2001: Super Smash Bros Melee
2002: Metroid Prime
2003: Mario Kart: Double Dash
2004: Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green
2005: Advance Wars: Dual Strike
2006: Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
2007: Mario Galaxy
2008: Mario Kart Wii
2009: Wii Sports Resort
2010: Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver
2011: Super Mario 3D Land
2012: Pokemon Black/White 2
2013: Super Mario 3D World
2014: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
2015: Yoshi’s Wooly World
2016: Pokemon Sun/Moon
2017: Mario Odyssey
2018: Super Smash Bros Ultimate
2019: Super Mario Maker 2
2020: Super Mario 3D All-Stars
2021: Metroid Dread
2022: Kirby and the Forgotten Land
2023: Super Mario Bros Wonder
2024: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
interesting list, but you seem to be unable to decide whether to use the japanese release dates or the north american release dates.
Mario Galaxy one was such a blast to play on Switch
Super Mario 3D World was a blast too
Here’s the big question, will Mario and Luigi Brothership be better than Echoes of Wisdom?
Yes
nop ;)
@ yes lil bro 😭🙏
9:22 I KNEW IT
Watchmojo should have waited Mario & Luigi Brothership release before doing this video. Also, Pokémon Emerald should have been chosen for best 2005 game instead of Mario Kart DS
YOU PICKED FIRE EMBLEM FATES INSTEAD OF KIRBY PLANET ROBOBOT?!?!?
Personally, I think Pokémon Sun and Moon was better imo
Yes, and it's a much better game so play a Fire Emblem game for once in your life before saying that your little baby game is better.
I feel like 2024 shouldn’t have been ranked because brothership hasn’t come out yet. That game could be phenomenal.
Update. Game was hot ass
@ completely false lmao. Game is great.
I would have chosen Bayonetta 2 as 2014; it won numerous GOTY awards!
tropical freeze would've also been a better choice than mario kart 8
2019. Replace Three Houses with Link´s Awakening and I´m good with this List.
link's awakening is a remake. save that for 1993
I clicked on this video specifically to make sure they put FE3H for 2019 over Link’s Awakening and thank goodness they did
@@dpackerman4203 what if they picked luigi's mansion 3, mario maker 2, or astral chain lol
Fire emblem Fates? Surely not
And while Three Houses is incredible, LM3 is even better. 😊
Lol no, Three Houses is waay better than LM3, there's even other games of that year that are also better like Astral Chain.
Literally every 3d Zelda (besides Skyward Sword): 🥇
2011-3d land
2012- Kid icarus uprising
2016- kirby planet robobot
I would have had Return to Dreamland or Skyward for 2011, but otherwise, respectable opinion.
How many Zelda and Mario games will I see on this list? Well deserved tho
Three houses is still the best Fire Emblem. Engage was ok, but no NGP really hurt it.
2000 - Pokémon Silver
2022 - Pokemon Legends Arceus
2024 - Shiren The Wanderer 6
shiren is not a nintendo game
I really need to play more Mario games more often, I’m more of a Sonic guy growing up.
Most of these games I have and still play on my gamecube
This list could have been from 1980 to 2024, because Nintendo have given us quality titles for a long time. It could have been going even further back in time, but then it would be mostly "not much else to choose from"-titles, or games that are not even video games.
2022 had Pokémon Legends Arceus!
And Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Man, i gotta play xenoblade someday. Im intimidated by the length of the games and how complex they seem. Never played anything like them haha. Give me some reasons to get into it as a newcomer.
nintendo sure knows how to make great games
Super smash bros is the best ultimate game I love to play
Skyward sword should have got 2011
Here the classic Zelda fans resent why Nintendo did not merge the classic formula with that of Breath of the Wild.
Sad that Pokemon Colosseum/XD Gale of Darkness didn't make the cut
Seriously? Not a single Splatoon game?
Wasn’t winning in 2022
2015 it was between that and Mario maker
2017 it wasn’t winning against odyssey and botw
its best chance was 2015. I wasn't expecting it for the other years.
Godzilla x Kong Titan Chasers & Transformers Galactic Trials
The winner of all the franchises is the legend of Zelda 🤑
I'm a huge Kirby fan but my pick for 2022 would have been Legends Arceus.
I also think Wii Sports could have made the list.
Xc3
wii sports over twilight princess would've been so lame. very glad it wasn't picked.
Well unfortunately for Wii sports, Twilight Princess was released in 2006 too
So many mario entries.. lol 2013 - zelda: a link between worlds
2010 was a helluva year for the wii
Pokemon forever 💛
TOP 10 Wayne Knight Roles
I was like, where's Odyssey, but then I realised it was released in 2017
2008 could've gone to Mario Kart Wii as well.
Mariokart Wii>Brawl. Diabolical work
2019's best game was Luigi's Mansion 3!
Super Smash Bros Ultimate is number 1 in my opinion.
best 2018 game
Xenoblade 3 robbed for 2023!! good list overall
*2022
Smash Bros Brawl over Mario Kart Wii?!?! Bruh 🤦🏻♂️
The two games I would replace would be prime 2 in 2004 over paper mario and tropical freeze over Mario kart 8.. while I agree Mario kart 8 deluxe is as good as it gets and would be the choice over tropical freeze, I don’t think the vanilla version is better than tropical freeze
tropical freeze clears both versions of mario kart 8 (and most nintendo games in general)
@ eh not most.. Mario kart 8 deluxe is top tier man.. its a hard decision for me cause I adore tropical freeze and it’s my favorite dk game
Missed fragile dreams farewell ruins of the moon
that's not a nintendo game
@jclkaytwo Nintendo wii
@@eliotanderson6554 do you think that nintendo owns every single game that released on a nintendo console?
EL HOTDOGGIE
There are 7 games from pre-switch years on switch.
Politely disagree on Majora's mask. I would say paper Mario or Pokemon gold/silver.
Smash Brawl instead of Mario Kart Wii for 2008 is wild
Fr, people always claim how underrated brawl his, when it has the biggest modding community of the franchise, and MKWII is Goated man, unlike brawl which is the second definition of MID..
@@nelsongood3480 mkwii has the biggest modding community of the franchise too......
MKWii was, is, and always will be mid. Only the tracks and music are good.
Even disregarding Brawl, Kirby Super Star Ultra is better.
@@batmanbud2 the tracks are the most important part of any racing game lol
also, since you don't consider wind waker HD to be a 2013 game, why would you count kirby super star ultra as a 2008 game?
2000: Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
2001: Super Smash Bros Melee
2002: Metroid Prime
2003: Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
2004: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
2005: Mario Kart DS
2006: Wii Sports
2007: Super Mario Galaxy
2008: Super Smash Bros Brawl
2009: New Super Mario Bros Wii
2010: Donkey Kong Country Returns
2011: Kirby's Return to Dream Land
2012: Xenoblade Chronicles
2013: Fire Emblem: Awakening
2014: Mario Kart 8
2015: Super Mario Maker
2016: Kirby: Planet Robobot
2017: Super Mario Odyssey
2018: Super Smash Bros Ultimate
2019: Fire Emblem: Three Houses
2020: Animal Crossing: New Horizons
2021: Metroid: Dread
2022: Kirby and the Forgotten Land
2023: Super Mario RPG (Switch)
2024: Super Mario Party Jamboree
I agreed in 2015 Super Mario Maker is the first making your own game based on 2d platform in Mario games before the other game like Chicken and Horse and Mario Maker 2
No Galaxy or Galaxy 2?
@@alibabaschultz352 Yes and no! Galaxy 1 in 2007, while Donkey Kong Country Returns over Galaxy 2 in 2010! It's a tough pick for that year.
not NSMBW over bowser's inside story 😭
@@jclkaytwonsmbwii sold more copies than bis though

@@jclkaytwo yes
@@Lennonade02 just checking. I was worried for a sec lol
2011 should be skyward sword
Agree
Absolutely, perhaps WatchMojo was thinking that there were already too many Zelda games in their list? 😆Even Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 were better than Pokémon B&W.
@@rrqkuaci or Return to Dreamland.
That's because you haven't play Xenoblade...
