For 2009, I would replace Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story with New Super Mario Bros. Wii. For 2006, I would replace The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess with New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo DS. Also, for 2003, I would replace The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker with F-Zero GX. Finally, for 2012, I would replace Xenoblade Chronicles with Kid Icarus: Uprising for the Nintendo 3DS.
Another thing a lot of people loved about Fire Emblem: Three Houses was how it dove headfirst into the Grey areas of society. There was no clear hero in the story and all the villains had various shades of grey to their personalities and backstories. And unlike Fates, the developers intentionally avoided creating a 'Golden Ending' where everything works out.

Skyward Sword is by far the worst Zelda, due to it's testing with motion controls. Strongest enemy in the whole game was that electric-sword goblin, while next to every other enemy/boss was a pure joke, waiting endlessly for you to attack them
This is a good list! The only thing i would change is 2008- Mario Kart Wii 2011- Skyward Sword 2012- Kid Icarus Uprising or Pokemon X/Y 2014- Smash For 3DS/Wii U 2016- Splatoon 2019
I think Tropical Freeze should’ve been 2014s best game instead of MK8. Don’t get me wrong I love MK8 but Tropical Freeze is still one of my favorite Platformers of all time.
Imagine if there was a Smash History tournament with 32 fighters, playing Ultimate in the first round, Smash WiiU in the second round, Brawl in the third round, Melee in the Semi-finals, and the Original in the final round. You could do it the other way around, but then you'd only have two fighters playing the game with the most character choices.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 definitely deserved the spot for 2019, still arguably the best looking switch game to date and the Gooigi puzzles make for one of the best co-op experiences in Nintendo history
@@mechaotakugamerlol you're just comparing a Jrpg with an action-adventure 2D game, you think that's logical? Also just because one game is bigger than the other doesn't mean is it better or on a higher level, and you literally just said that you haven't even played Metroid Dread.
@CodyMattwes doesn't matter what genre , still think they should have gone with Xenoblade 3. Also, who cares if I haven't played Metroid dread yet. I'm not big into metroid anyways

Oddly enough, Black & White 2 came out in 2012 and was way better than B&W 1, so that could've been a good candidate for 2012. Also, Paper Mario: Sticker Star was pretty damn good, as well as New Super Mario Bros. 2. Pokémon Conquest (3DS) and The Last Story (Wii) are pretty obscure ones, but in my opinion those 2x are absolute gems in my book. But I agree with you on Kid Icarus: Uprising, that probably was the best game of 2012 after Xenoblade.

Say what you want about Fire Emblrm Fates story, but you can’t deny its great ost, cool concepts, and it had some great moments in the story. Also, I’m sure everyone can agree the gameplay was very fun.
Yes is there a Nintendo gem think should replace one of these games on the switch like Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Super Mario 3D World and Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Kirby And The Forgotten Land
Twilight Princess, Galaxy then Brawl coming out in back to back to back years might be the greatest releases from a company or console ever could have done
Choosing Mario Kart 8 over Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze in 2014 is an insult. Mario Kart is great, don't get me wrong, but Tropical Freeze is a plataform masteclass, one of the best ever in the genre and problably the best DK game.
I have played owned The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Super Smash Bros: Melee, The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Mario Kart: DS, The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros: Brawl. I've played Mario Kart 8 maybe and Super Smash Bros: Ultimate.
Man, i gotta play xenoblade someday. Im intimidated by the length of the games and how complex they seem. Never played anything like them haha. Give me some reasons to get into it as a newcomer.
I did my own list, but started from 1990 because that’s where a lot of my favourite Nintendo games are from. 2012, 2016 and 2024 were hard as I’ve barely played any games from those years. Best Nintendo game every year since 1990: 1990: Super Mario World 1991: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 1992: Super Mario Kart 1993: Super Mario All Stars 1994: Super Metroid 1995: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island 1996: Super Mario 64 1997: Diddy Kong Racing 1998: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 1999: Pokemon Yellow 2000: Pokemon Gold/Silver 2001: Super Smash Bros Melee 2002: Metroid Prime 2003: Mario Kart: Double Dash 2004: Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green 2005: Advance Wars: Dual Strike 2006: Pokemon Diamond/Pearl 2007: Mario Galaxy 2008: Mario Kart Wii 2009: Wii Sports Resort 2010: Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver 2011: Super Mario 3D Land 2012: Pokemon Black/White 2 2013: Super Mario 3D World 2014: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze 2015: Yoshi’s Wooly World 2016: Pokemon Sun/Moon 2017: Mario Odyssey 2018: Super Smash Bros Ultimate 2019: Super Mario Maker 2 2020: Super Mario 3D All-Stars 2021: Metroid Dread 2022: Kirby and the Forgotten Land 2023: Super Mario Bros Wonder 2024: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
I feel like 2017 was the one year to cheat and put both BotW and Odyssey. Two peak games within their franchises released in the same year, from the two franchises that excel the most at maintaining top tier quality while changing enough to feel fresh (3D Mario Platformers as the franchise, 2D Mario hasn't changed much). Other consistently great franchises for reference: Final Fantasy, SMT, Persona, and Metal Gear are solid candidates GTA, God of War, Trails, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, Donkey Kong Country, Metroid, and The Elder Scrolls have not seen enough franchise shifts imo to meet the second part Red Dead, The Witcher, Mother/EarthBound, and BioShock haven't had enough games
I mean Kirby and the Forgotten Land was one of the best Kirby Games I played in 2022 when it came out and I actually beat it 100% so I can't wait to see what Nintendo and HAL are gonna do for the sequel for Kirby and the Forgotten Land? Because maybe we could see new playable characters like King Dedede, Meta Knight, and Clawroline teaming up with Kirby and Bandana Dee and having new copy abilities, copy ability upgrades, and new mouthful modes. and there are other Nintendo games I like playing like Star Fox Assault, Super Mario Odyssey, all the Mario Party Games, Mario Kart Double Dash, Mario Kart 8/Deluxe, Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Super Mario Bros Wonder, Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe, Kirby's Dream Buffet, and other Nintendo games I liked playing. But I hope Nintendo does give us some really good games for next year since next year will be Mario's 40th Anniversary and also whenever Switch 2 happens.
My favourite part is WB Turbo Street Brawlers for Nintendo Switch, because it has characters from Warner bros. Animation, Hanna-Barbera, DC Kids, New Line Cinema Cartoon, Looney Tunes, Cartoon Network, LEGO, Ruby-Spears cartoon, turner entertainment cartoon and Warner Animation Group. It is based on the adventure mode:subspace emissary from super smash bros. And the third-parties like shonen jump, super robot spirits, synergy sp, tezutopia, Tatsunoko and Sanrio, it’s so perfect that I am glad to hear it just like Tokyo meant to be 🥋💎👊🏻🤺🥊🦶🏻. Maybe I should care about the cartoon show called Nintendo Entertainment Show. For Warner Bros Animation , Cartoon Network, Tv Tokyo and Nintendo, so yes, I love Nintendo 135th Anniversary and Tv Tokyo Anime😊👍🇯🇵🇺🇸.
Watchmojo should have waited Mario & Luigi Brothership release before doing this video. Also, Pokémon Emerald should have been chosen for best 2005 game instead of Mario Kart DS
@@CodyMattwes I'll play Fire Emblem if you play Kirby, because you clearly haven't. Not to mention I've heard plenty about Fates to know that it was far from being one of the best.
@@batmanbud2 Lmao I have already played several Kirby games, Return to Dreamland, Return to Dreamland and obviously Planet Robobot (Unlike you, I do play most Nintendo series), and it was a total cakewalk of a game, the best thing I can say about it is that it was slightly above the average Nintendo 2D platformer and that's it. Also, basing your opinion on a game like Fire Emblem Fates on what you have heard about a video game from a series that you have not played and clearly know nothing about is not good for forming an opinion about it, let me tell you. Furthermore, I have already seen you cry in another video about better Nintendo games saying the same thing about another game in the series "How can Fire Emblem Awakening be a better game than my generic 3DS children's game which is my favorite?", so again, play a game in the series before you crying about it.
@CodyMattwes the only 3DS games I played in my childhood were NSMB2 and Mario Party Island Tour. Everything else I bought secondhand since Smash 3DS in 2020. And as someone who has played Tropical Freeze, Planet Robobot is still my #1 2D platformer. Even if it was just ok, though, it would've still been better than any of the other slop Nintendo put out in 2016, including Fates (I am far more intrigued by Echoes of Valentia).
This list could have been from 1980 to 2024, because Nintendo have given us quality titles for a long time. It could have been going even further back in time, but then it would be mostly "not much else to choose from"-titles, or games that are not even video games.

How you gonna not have Mario 64?
@@stryk8737 While Mario 64 is a classic, and I do love it. It's just that I am a bigger fan of Mario RPG and Fire Emblem Genealogy of the Holy War
@@stryk8737 mario 64 has not aged very well
the moment you said you said you'd include japan-only titles I immediately assumed it was because of mother 3 lol
Did you put Fire Emblem Genealogy of the Holy War, Path of Radiance and Awakening? Now that's what I call a based list. 👍
I’m still waiting for you to do best animated movie villains of each year excluding Disney and Pixar.
I was home from school 1 day bc of covid when I got my animal crossing game trough the mailbox. Played it for 4 hours a day for at least a year.
Almost everytime a new Zelda game is released its the best in the year
As someone who comes from the NES days, I agree with this list
2017 mario odyssey, 2016 kirby planet robobot, 2011 super mario 3d land, 2012 pokemon black white 2, 2019 luigi’s mansion 3, 2024 mario & luigi
I was hoping Echoes of Wisdom made the cut.
Sub space was a unique mode in smash. Is just too bad they didn't add it to ultimate. With the improved graphics, it would've looked awesome!!!
CALLING IT NOW the game i’ve spent the MOST in my childhood (born in 2000) is either super smash bros brawl (2008) or super mario sunshine (2002)
Twilight Princess, Galaxy then Brawl coming out in back to back to back years might be the greatest releases from a company or console ever could have done
why do you think bowser's inside story breaks that streak?
Mario Galaxy one was such a blast to play on Switch
Super Mario 3D World was a blast too
I wish Mario Wonder came out a year later to have its own slot, best 2D Mario game ever
Choosing Mario Kart 8 over Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze in 2014 is an insult. Mario Kart is great, don't get me wrong, but Tropical Freeze is a plataform masteclass, one of the best ever in the genre and problably the best DK game.
"The best ever in the genre" lol
@@domx7zero157 they're right. tropical freeze is the best 2d platformer ever made
A best Nintendo games of each year 1985-2025 edition next year maybe? Please.
Mariokart Wii>Brawl. Diabolical work
Leaving out Luigi’s Mansion 3 for 2019 is wild 🥲
If FE3H didn’t exist then I’d agree
I have played owned The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Super Smash Bros: Melee, The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Mario Kart: DS, The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros: Brawl. I've played Mario Kart 8 maybe and Super Smash Bros: Ultimate.
Fire emblem Fates? Surely not
And while Three Houses is incredible, LM3 is even better. 😊
Lol no, Three Houses is waay better than LM3, there's even other games of that year that are also better like Astral Chain.
I really need to play more Mario games more often, I’m more of a Sonic guy growing up.
We need to get super smash bros movie in future
Man, i gotta play xenoblade someday. Im intimidated by the length of the games and how complex they seem. Never played anything like them haha. Give me some reasons to get into it as a newcomer.
I would have chosen Bayonetta 2 as 2014; it won numerous GOTY awards!
tropical freeze would've also been a better choice than mario kart 8
How many Zelda and Mario games will I see on this list? Well deserved tho
I did my own list, but started from 1990 because that’s where a lot of my favourite Nintendo games are from. 2012, 2016 and 2024 were hard as I’ve barely played any games from those years.
Best Nintendo game every year since 1990:
1990: Super Mario World
1991: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
1992: Super Mario Kart
1993: Super Mario All Stars
1994: Super Metroid
1995: Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island
1996: Super Mario 64
1997: Diddy Kong Racing
1998: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
1999: Pokemon Yellow
2000: Pokemon Gold/Silver
2001: Super Smash Bros Melee
2002: Metroid Prime
2003: Mario Kart: Double Dash
2004: Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green
2005: Advance Wars: Dual Strike
2006: Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
2007: Mario Galaxy
2008: Mario Kart Wii
2009: Wii Sports Resort
2010: Pokemon Heartgold/Soulsilver
2011: Super Mario 3D Land
2012: Pokemon Black/White 2
2013: Super Mario 3D World
2014: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
2015: Yoshi’s Wooly World
2016: Pokemon Sun/Moon
2017: Mario Odyssey
2018: Super Smash Bros Ultimate
2019: Super Mario Maker 2
2020: Super Mario 3D All-Stars
2021: Metroid Dread
2022: Kirby and the Forgotten Land
2023: Super Mario Bros Wonder
2024: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
interesting list, but you seem to be unable to decide whether to use the japanese release dates or the north american release dates.
Super smash bros is the best ultimate game I love to play
I feel like 2017 was the one year to cheat and put both BotW and Odyssey.
Two peak games within their franchises released in the same year, from the two franchises that excel the most at maintaining top tier quality while changing enough to feel fresh (3D Mario Platformers as the franchise, 2D Mario hasn't changed much).
Other consistently great franchises for reference:
Final Fantasy, SMT, Persona, and Metal Gear are solid candidates
GTA, God of War, Trails, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, Donkey Kong Country, Metroid, and The Elder Scrolls have not seen enough franchise shifts imo to meet the second part
Red Dead, The Witcher, Mother/EarthBound, and BioShock haven't had enough games
Here’s the big question, will Mario and Luigi Brothership be better than Echoes of Wisdom?
Yes
nop ;)
@ yes lil bro 😭🙏
I feel like 2024 shouldn’t have been ranked because brothership hasn’t come out yet. That game could be phenomenal.
Update. Game was hot ass
@ completely false lmao. Game is great.
Most of these games I have and still play on my gamecube
Xenoblade 3 robbed for 2023!! good list overall
*2022
nintendo sure knows how to make great games
Hello good morning 🎉🎉🎉
Literally every 3d Zelda (besides Skyward Sword): 🥇
Pokemon forever 💛
Watchmojo should have waited Mario & Luigi Brothership release before doing this video. Also, Pokémon Emerald should have been chosen for best 2005 game instead of Mario Kart DS
Only Changes would be 2008: Mario Kart Wii & 2009: New Super Mario Brothers Wii
NSMBW over bowser's inside story? hell no
Three houses is still the best Fire Emblem. Engage was ok, but no NGP really hurt it.
YOU PICKED FIRE EMBLEM FATES INSTEAD OF KIRBY PLANET ROBOBOT?!?!?
Personally, I think Pokémon Sun and Moon was better imo
Yes, and it's a much better game so play a Fire Emblem game for once in your life before saying that your little baby game is better.
Wait, Wind Waker was in 2003? I didn't know it was THAT old.
2010 was a helluva year for the wii
So many mario entries.. lol 2013 - zelda: a link between worlds
Super Smash Bros Ultimate is number 1 in my opinion.
best 2018 game
Godzilla x Kong Titan Chasers & Transformers Galactic Trials
I love smg smg2 smo so much❤
I'm a huge Kirby fan but my pick for 2022 would have been Legends Arceus.
I also think Wii Sports could have made the list.
Xc3
wii sports over twilight princess would've been so lame. very glad it wasn't picked.
Well unfortunately for Wii sports, Twilight Princess was released in 2006 too
2000 - Pokémon Silver
2022 - Pokemon Legends Arceus
2024 - Shiren The Wanderer 6
shiren is not a nintendo game
2011-3d land
2012- Kid icarus uprising
2016- kirby planet robobot
I would have had Return to Dreamland or Skyward for 2011, but otherwise, respectable opinion.
Here the classic Zelda fans resent why Nintendo did not merge the classic formula with that of Breath of the Wild.
The winner of all the franchises is the legend of Zelda 🤑
TOP 10 Wayne Knight Roles
