It’s not difficult. The pattern is exactly the same every single time and not particularly long. I used to be able to do it just from memory and the musical cues.
Battletoads was such a fun semi difficult game right up until the turbo tunnel… then it gets turned up to insane! It’s like one of the programmers wanted to punish all of the gamers for getting dumped right before they designed this level 😅

I'm surprised that neither the Pachinko Game level or Secret of the Village Underside from Super Mario Sunshine didn't make it onto this list. The Pachinko Game level was incredibly frustrating because of an invisible force pushing Mario right until he reaches the center of the board, which makes landing in the left holes much more difficult.
Wow!. You guys finish games!! (I only play them after one of my cousins clears the difficult level’s. ((which I wasn’t able to clear after many tries)) but it’s fun yk good old day’s.)
I completed The Perfect Run, 2 years ago, and I swear I CANNOT describe how stressed I was at the part with the hammer bros, and I felt SO relieved after I finally got past it.
Mile High Club was an absolute nightmare. I did it both on the original and remastered games. I did it quicker on remastered because of the experience. It took me only three days to get all the achievements for the remastered.
Tubular, I remember that one well. I came up with a trick using a Yoshi, the cape and well timed jump. If I got it right it took mere seconds to clear it but if you got unlucky by getting hit you'd fall and die. There's another level which I struggled with on a game which wasn't mentioned, Remember G-Police on the PS1? Towards the latter end of the game there is a really long level where you provide escort for a raid on the Krakov HQ, so you tediously kill things through a long trip through all these domes until you finally arrive there, then you have to disable these 3 escaping cars with an EMP and you cannot miss because you only have 3 EMP charges, if you miss one or one of these vehicles gets destroyed then it can bug the game and the level won't complete. Just as this is done and you are thinking thank god for that, I finally completed it, you are then attacked by fighters from the Nanosoft HQ and you have to defend your team again or the mission fails. By this point you will have used basically all of your ordinance except your laser and your machine gun, both of which are a pain to hit these fighters with because they are small and move fast, plus your laser and machine guns overheat quickly under continual operation. If by some miracle you manage to get past this point the level should complete, but nooooope, not always. Lets go back to the aforementioned bug, if one of the disabled cars was destroyed or some little enemy/civilian fighter did not join in the attack on you for whatever reason, or because the game just feels like doing it, the ground units will just drive around aimlessly until they reach a point where they fall through an invisible hole in the road where they explode and fail your mission for you. I'll bet this level stopped a lot of players dead back in the day because of how long and infuriating it was, only to then be stopped by that bug when you thought you'd done it.
I can't believe you didn't include !! It is true the first time though, Blighttown is a pain in the ass but once you know the level, it is a pretty easy run to Quelaag, even for someone like me that doesn't do speed runs. On the other hand, Ringed City is a pain in the ass every single time, even with the IWIN blades.
Other levels that should be mentioned are Labyrinth Zone, Eggman Land (both HD and SD), F-Zero GX chapter 7 hard and very hard mode, Kabei's Error? Advanced Campaign, Rivals Advance Wars, Rebellion of Ostia hard mode, Genesis Hector hard mode, Thracia 776 The Onslaught, Thracia 776 The Scion of Light, and The Loptrian Altar.
As a gd player, I don’t think this video fully describes how unbelievably difficult tidal wave is, so let me paint you a picture. Gd is a game that updates with its refresh rate. So it takes inputs every frame. This creates a concept of a frame perfect, where a player only has one frame to complete a timing. For example, 60 fps frame perfect means you have 1/60 frames to do a timing. Just one or two of these timings can give a level an insane or even extreme demon rank. So how many frame perfects does Tidal Wave have? TWO HUNDRED! I’m not sure what the 3 levels placed above tidal wave on this list are, but they have to be absolute hell if they’re considered harder.
Turbo tunnels is number one?? I do that one easily now, lets talk about everything AFTER that.. it gets much much worse. Tunnels is a cake walk compared to the rest of the game.
Well, there's Gate's Lab from MegaMan X6, that one's a level of frustrating so bad it makes Neo Arcadia Shrine from MegaMan Zero look like a walk in the park.

Just try the level with the sinking ship with the attacking helicopter in Far Cry 1. You will see what is a difficult level. I have a 25 years gaming experience. This level is holding #1 in my list.

In Fire Emblem, there's also hard mode version of Rebellion of Ostia and Hector hard mode version of FE7 Genesis. As for Thracia 776, that stands tall as one legit challenging game.
Most Touhou extra stage levels are just insane. It's ridiculous that none is on the list. I would at least put the Extra Stage of Touhou 6, 11 or 15 in the list. But I guess Touhou ain't that popular, which is annoying.
@Neo-Metal17 lol then your a gaming god sir... that was a level designed to ring people's pockets dry of money in arcades... and definitely deserves to be on this list... and they also didn't mention the multi-player aspect of the mission either where if there are 2 of you there is a chance you will bump each other into the obstacles basically making it neigh impossible to do with 2 people
@ I'm nowhere near the status of "gaming god" all Turbo Tunnel takes is a bit of practice and I promise you'll be wondering why people consider it the hardest level ever. Battletoads in general is pretty overrated when it comes to difficulty, I mean the game only has 12 levels and some can be skipped entirely. There are much harder games and levels out there.

I say the planet Zeffo from Jedi: Fallen Order is the HARDEST level/planet. Combine that with the second planet in Jedi: Survivor, GOSH! I HATE puzzles like THAT in VERY FUN games.
I never that one part in GTA San Andreas that hard back in the day , in fact I like that mission in San Andreas .And I remember there was few harder missions further ahead in the game , like the long car race in the country side .Which was a pain in my ass , since oh yeah ! you do twice in the game .And the race in Los Santos was funner , also what the dance mission was painful and hard .Since all was steal van on the beach .Cause I guess the developers at Rockstar want to live on beach in van .

a lot of these levels made me say "YAY! PAIN!"
9:55 Oh no, NOT THE CLAM!
I say the planet Zeffo from Jedi: Fallen Order is the HARDEST level/planet. Combine that with the second planet in Jedi: Survivor, GOSH! I HATE puzzles like THAT in VERY FUN games.
Of course 4 of the top 5 stages were on NES titles!
The old school megaman games were torture as a whole
Mega Man 6 is easy
Yeah, this was such a hard strategy for me as a kid...
yeah a few these levels were hard, *grinds* not really in my book
Super Mario 3 world 7 still gives me trauma!
What about the level you have to walk on ice to get to the devil in Dante's Inferno?
I never that one part in GTA San Andreas that hard back in the day , in fact I like that mission in San Andreas .And I remember there was few harder missions further ahead in the game , like the long car race in the country side .Which was a pain in my ass , since oh yeah ! you do twice in the game .And the race in Los Santos was funner , also what the dance mission was painful and hard .Since all was steal van on the beach .Cause I guess the developers at Rockstar want to live on beach in van .
Still never beat that 100 purple coin level with all the poison panels in Mario Galaxy.
Down the Tubes Earthworm Jim..

The Archimedes trials in God of war Ascension are more difficult than the underworld level in God of War 1
