the mannequin visuals and the canvas/fussing diffrentiation at the beginning really helped me get a clearer picture on bespoke tailoring! Now i'm more confident in making choices for my future suits! Thank you so much!
I love this video explanation I have no one in Cambodia teaching real bespoke suit I hope you explain more steps by step how full canvas construction is thank you 🙏
There is no canvas at all in a fully fused suit. So while half canvas adds the canvas in the chest and shoulder, which is the area structure matters the most, fused is just fusing without any canvas to speak of.
The benefit of fused is that it is inexpensive and the in lighter fabrics the fronts appear absolutely clean and uniform. Fusing isn’t all bad. It makes tailoring available to those who either can’t or don’t value higher level craftsmanship. Half-canvas gives fused garments a longer life and better feel around the chest - lower fronts remain fully fused. Fully canvassed, in my opinion, gives you the longest life. Especially if one is ordering top notch fabric. What a waste to fuse cashmere for interest. It’s like handmade leather seats or wood panelling in a Ford Fiesta. I don’t see the value in that. Full canvas also adapts to the wearer over time. It is mutable unlike either of the fused options.
Is there a noticeable difference in breathability between full and half canvas? I'd assumed full canvas would be worse, but after seeing the fusing fabric, not sure how breathable that would be once melted.
Good question. The factor that most affects breathability is your choice of the main cloth selected for the garment. I would suggest full canvas would be slightly cooler than fusing because it is has more of an open structure in the way it’s been woven. Of course, there are very light canvases available too…. Does this help?
Hi, thanks for taking the time to go through these. Does this mean that in the end, a half-canvas will eventually de-laminate and develop blisters like you would in a fused canvas, just at a slower rate? I'm thinking about getting a suit that will last for decades wondering whether this is a viable option.
Hello. If you want a suit that will last for decades go with full canvas- almost entirely immune to the evils of bad dry cleaners - over half canvas any day. The half canvas shouldn’t de laminate over the chest area but there is still the risk of the lower fore parts doing so. Full canvas is always best in my opinion - and more authentic. Hope that helps!
For a suit that will last a decade you will also need to think about the cloth you need and ensuring it is the correct fabric for the purpose you intend!
@@faustus8858 Thanks for the reply. I'm planning to commission bespoke suits starting with worsted wool as I'm primarily looking for durability and longevity.
Hi. I have a suit and I tried testing to see if it has canvas by feeling if there's fabric between the lining and outer bit of the suit and it seems to be the case. Is there any other fabric that would go in between the lining and outer bit aside from the canvas, that I might be confusing for the canvas?
Hi, my name is Chuks. I pretty much appreciate the video, but I was wondering if you could make a video on how to place and fix the canvas. Thanks and have a lovely day.
Would love to see how the front darts can change the shape of the jacket and by how much depending on how dramatic the person's chest to stomach differs. Essentially a flat body chest and stomach vs a prominent chest to flat stomach vs larger rounded stomach
a very good question. I will keep this in mind and when I work when I get the chance I will do my best to show this thru video content. thanks for your comment!

What a well structure video explaining the construction of the suit! Always look forward to see more contents like this from you
First time I have seen it explained in an understandable way. Thank you.
Clear and concise: excellent explanation....and I have to admit, that English accent alone really makes me think he knows what he's talking about 🤣

So are there any parts of a full canvas suit that is fused? The chest part on the full canvassed looked different from the bottom. Thanks
What is the difference between the half-canvas and a fully fused suit? That part wasn't clear to me.

which type of construction is used to make lapel roll?
What are the downside/upside of fused, half canvas , full canvas suit?

Why is this your only video? After watching this I was hoping to see more of your work. Nice first video anyhow.
Wonderful explanation.
I really wish to learn more about the full canvas suits, what should I do?
Thank you for the video. I must ask, is it possible to have a jacket with no canvass at all?
Yes it is possible. Generally these garments are almost like cardigans. Choose your fabric carefully!
THey shouldnt be called a suit jacket IMO. safari jacket, field jacket...

It's most likely the canvas of the suit
@@Mark-wo1fv Thanks, I came to that conclusion

“The thing below” 😂
A very good video thank you for sharing
Good information...
Nice and helpful video thankyou for the knowledge.......

Should use glue to chest of half canvas?
Hi, my name is Chuks. I pretty much appreciate the video, but I was wondering if you could make a video on how to place and fix the canvas. Thanks and have a lovely day.
So half canvas is always fused? Wjst would be the practical differences between floating half and full canvas? Or sre there no such things
Wonderful video, thank you!
Which is better fusible suit or full canvased suit?
Full canvased by a long shot.
Unintentional ASMR king to be discovered...
Please, can you show a video of how to make a suit from start to finish? Love your works. Tanks
any benefits to fused or half or full? Why is fully fused used on cheap suits?
Perfectly explained
Very informative video. Thank you sir.
Is it really worth it to do a full canvas over a half canvas ?
Yes absolutely. If it’s done by machine it shouldn’t cost that much more.
