TheDemonicBlade just get an itx pc. Slightly bigger than a original Xbox but more upgradable than a laptop. Then buy a small monitor off aliexpress as long as it has a hdmi or display port port so you can connect it to a graphics card.
As an engineering student i use my gaming laptop for everything, rendering my designs, gaming, all my media production. And portable so i can do it anywhere, even on the sofa.
try rendering your scene with branched path ray trace rendering engine like vray, octane or cycles instead of physically based engine like mental ray, with high samples. Fyi, I own the same laptop and it takes forever to render with just 64 samples with square samples checked, and even that is achieved by using 2d background instead of 3d environment.
Also an engineering student :) Would rather invest more on a Powerful Desktop and just buy a budget/ capable laptop. Laptop becomes obsolete faster than desktops due to its modular capabilities ;)
For me I always use laptops. They are so convenient, you can pick yourself a nice comfortable location (like your bed) you can take it to your expert friend's house to install more goodies on it. Its just....nice.
my parents are divorced and i go back and forth between both houses so i personally need the portability of a laptop. yes i could get two desk tops but that would later in the end be more expensive than buying one laptop. and being in school it helps to have a laptop where you can play games in class if the teacher is going over things you already know.
I prefer laptop to desktop because I like to surf and work and game all around the house, or I might also take it on my travels, sitting at a desk for hours is so old school....great for developing a bad back though.
@@steezliner It's a happening thing. And I do game standing up. At times I do work too. I have plans to buy a threadmill to which a laptop stand can be attached so that I can have a walk too. :) So the amount of time you spend on the system is productive for your body as well. If you look around, you can find accessories supporting this kind of usage, like 'standing desks'.
@@laypyu yeah i get where you're coming from, but I spend so little time on my computer that it doesnt matter if i sit in my chair and play. I have a manual labor job and exercise after work so it's just not needed for me
steezliner, that's good man, and that's the problem, most of us desk based workers are going to face a huge issue with back aches and spinal adjustment requirements if we don't take care of the issue now. Some days its 11 hours sitting, with a couple of small breaks in between. And not many people are really aware of the danger.
Considering I never really leave my house, a desktop is the perfect thing for me. Laptops usually have to be left plugged in, at least from my experience since the battery seems to die pretty fast.
They only die quickly if your on a really intensive game, and your battery has low capacity. It’s nice to be able to take your computer anywhere with you, so you can have it on your bed
I do have to agree. Though I also have to point out that gaming laptops of today are much better than a few years ago. Back then, all of them were big, heavy, only had
Hmm i wanna get one to bring for vacations to my real country that wouldnt even have to bring my heavy ass gaming computer.. cpu, monitor and keyboards and shits better to get laptop to be able to bring anywhere and easy to bring..
This is nuts 🥜 Get the laptop and play on the go , unless you can sit in your parents house , not work, and make TH-cam videos about laptops pros and cons !! 😳
Yeah or maybe you have an apartment with a desk, get a decent amount of time off work, don't have kids, so on. Not everyone with a desktop is a meet in their mum's house.
Or you have a steady career and a house, and make enough money that you can buy a decent desktop setup, but not enough to justify spending $2000+ for the same performance I can get out of my $1100 desktop. Oh, and I can upgrade my internals to keep up as well. Laptops are good for deployments, school, business trips, etc. That's about it.
IF you need the mobility, definitely get a laptop. I agree with your statement, i have been using gaming laptops for the past 7 years, on my line of work im out of my home for two weeks, so i need something to play on hotels. But todays laptops are specially good compared to five years ago, now we have desktop gpus inside and 120hz gsync screens.... so you are not missing much.
Yep. I have to switch residences every week so packing up a desktop and all its components would be a real chore. Laptops do make sense for some people.
I am a proud owner of a 2014 model MSI GE60 Apache Pro. I think gaming laptops are a really good idea and I certainly would not have anything else. I mainly use my gaming laptop for emulation and the odd AAA title that I wish to take on the go with me. The Intel Core i7-4810MQ coupled with a 128GB mSATA SSD makes everyday takes snappy and super responsive, whilst the NVidia GTX 860M 2GB graphics card is more than capable of playing most modern AAA titles at 720p, 900p or some even 1080p (depending on the game) at Medium-High settings at 40+FPS is more than enough to satisfy my gaming needs (infact that GPU is the exact equivalent with what you would find in the Xbox One console). However more importantly, having a gaming laptop gives me more benefits over having a custom desktop rig, be it having the ability to socialise with friends and family whilst gaming, take modern gaming titles on the go with me, watch movies on the go with friends and family on a decent size screen or even just get some Vitamin D benefits when surfing the web makes a gaming laptop beneficial to me. :-)
i find it used foor 500 $ and i want to use it on music production and my youtube Videos Editing ...can it make my job job done without noise or getting hot ?
Yes talk about the biggest nerd porn Laptop and say that gaming Laptops are not worth it. I travel alot, I game alot and I really cant care less if some Desktop users argue why Laptops are useless. If they wouldnt exist I would be doomed. Besides that, who the fuck still thinks that we game on battery, thats like thinking I love to rape my battery. I dont buy a gaming Laptop, to Play crisis for 30 mins on battery I Play on a Laptop because mine is a portable Desktop power Laptop. I wont carry around a Desktop, a Screen and 3 peripherals with me because they are more silent. Why is this so hard to understand. Performance wise: -Yes you have noise if you want to game, Id rather have that than a burning table, but who games without a Headset nowadays, also "serious Shopping" mate what does that even mean do you shop so much u Need a gtx 1080 to run Explorer?? -New nividia Cards lost the M for a reason, so what I loose 5-10fps bc its in a Laptop, still better than carrying 6 Things around. -Components can be switched, I dont know where you heard that. you can Change ram hdds' and ssds' Ok you cant Switch your cpu or deceide to watercool it, but until then you can buy a new one. (what you wanted to upgrade right away? why did you buy this Laptop then?) Also external gpus will be cheap as fuck soon so we can use that incase we wiggle our Jimmys and Need new powa to feel manly again - Screens: sure it will stick with me, but I bought mine and I made sure it had a nice Screen at the start, If you dont like it wait and look for another Screen or get a big one and stick it in your HDMI port in your Laptop.BTW the same can be used on Desktops:" oh hey I bought this Screen for my Desktop Setup but I dont like it, lets buy a different one and stick the cable into the connector" same principle in a Laptop. I work alot I travel alot and I game alot, I have a gaming Laptop, If you Need mobility and want to do good ol' lan parties with your buds without carrying around Hardware than search well and buy one, BUT PLEASE for gods sake stop coming up with silly excuses why gaming Laptops arent worth it, its starting to Sound like anti-gaming Propaganda and their stupid reasons why games are sooo bad for you.
Who wouldn't want a potable super-console when they're traveling? When im out of town and get bored shitless, a gaming laptop will ALWAYS come in handy.
I did the exact same thing, I spent the week I had to wait between paying and arrival spamming out videos on what I was going to get and refreshing the order tracking page!!!
I’m in the military, don’t have my own place, so I think the portability factor makes sense. I also have to move it for inspections depending on who is doing the inspection.
This misconception that people have over people choosing laptop is wrong. People not always chooses a laptop because they always travel. Is also because people prefer a laptop over a desktop. Also is because desktop that are made for gaming and video editing are very huge, and it is a problem for people with small space. So they choose a laptop because they have small space.
Inspirice you don’t need speakers, get headphones, you can get some good monitors and mouses for under 30$, the headphones should be about $70 for Arctis 3, 240 hz monitor for 300 should be about 400 total, 200 total if you want a 60 hz monitor, and 300 if you want 144hz the price could be a little more, or less than a laptop, the upgradable GPU too. I’m not saying PCs are better I’m just saying that it really isn’t that expensive so yeah.
Bruh he said that going on a vacation was enough reason, I was wondering if going in between my parents house was enough reason. Damn this was actually really helpful.
I’m in the military and I need my laptop at all times, I can’t be lugging around a huge desktop lol I’m not buying a desktop and a laptop so I just went with the laptop
I fully agree that desktop is better preformance, I also would agree that laptops are more convenient to use. So as a student, laptops would be the better option for me, and a $1500 gaming laptop, (especially looking as the ASUS ROG series) you will be able to play the latest 2018 games with high graphics at more or less 60 fps. Desktops of course are often cheaper and has easier access for maintenance, and can be upgraded as specs for games rise. So I agree with PC Centric. IF you are in a situation to choose a desktop over laptop, THEN DO IT! But if you are not (Collage student, always going overseas, not often home, etc) then go for a laptop until you are able to compromise portability. :)
I had a job that made me work overseas at least every month.. so as a gamer on the go, I have to buy a gaming laptop, it was ASUS ROG with GTX 970M VGA. then I tried my friend's good PC, playing game on Ultra and 60 FPS.. on that moment I know I was missing a lot, I resign from my job, sold the laptop, get a gaming PC. Never been happier
Adiprima Sulakstono The Witcher 3 is one of the most demanding open world games for pc, you should have taken that into account when buying said asus rog assuming you had the game already, don't know much about ghost recon so can't comment there, and watch dogs 2 is just a terribly optimized game in general.
+Kenny ricardo.. yes and no.. I was offered another job before by my relations( I'm not that dumb, resigning just to get a pc).. the money is not as good as having my overseas a lot job but I chose it nonetheless..
Both have their uses. I built my own desktop and upgraded it over time. I just recently sold my old laptop and bought a Lenovo Y520 gaming laptop. It's specs are pretty close to my desktop which is plenty for my gaming needs. I have the desktop for long term, but the laptop is great for my portable needs and playing some LAN games at friends houses which is what I really wanted it for. If you're on a tight budget and you dont have either then desktop all the way. If you work and got some cash to spare then gaming laptops can be worth looking into.
@@chiaradequay9777 depends entirely what you are planning to do. If you want to game on standard 60fps hardware for the year and maybe have loower frames for the next 4, save yourself the cash and get a 1050 or 1050ti. If you want more flexibility for the future but still have a nice buffer fps on standard 60fps /60hz hardware get a 1060. If you want some serious shit or bought a laptop with higher refresh rates get a 1070. If you have ridiculous cash to spend. Believe your editing internship is your career future or think that you'll use a big card to its full potential in what is basically a slim nuclear reactor and want to be the sole reason global warming happened, get yourself a 1080,1080ti, or titan, if that is even possible.
Good video. You bring up good points. I have latop with an I7 and a GTX 1060. Love it. Ill sometimes take it to a friend's house to show off lol, but it Stays at home most of the time, I like being able to take it to my room, the living room or upstairs to game wherever I want. And im wearing head phones most of the time. so the noise is not a problem.
Something many overlook when choosing between a laptop or desktop is the fact that laptops tend to be more energy efficient (some say up to 80% better), so a laptop is more friendly to your electric bill!
I find the perfect combo for me (someone who occasionally travels) is something thin and light with good battery but still gaming capable like the XPS 15 for travels/school and a desktop for home.
I'm very happy with my gaming laptop. Screen is a 5ms 1080p 120hz G-sync panel. Don't have any issues with sticking with that forever. GPU matches my desktop 1080 in performance and is upgradeable/replaceable. Same for ram, m.2 ssd's and hdd. CPU isn't upgradeable but let's be real here, a modern day i7 clocked at 3.5ghz or higher will be more than capable of playing games for a very long time. Thanks to Intel not providing any real progress with their CPU updates. People are still playing games just fine with Sandy Bridge so I have ZERO worries about upgrading my Kaby Lake CPU any time soon.
That's a really old laptop. And it's severely underpowered. 4700hq is the beginning of the soldered BGA chips and it's completely locked down and throttles. The 850m is slower than a GTX 750. If that's your budget then I guess its fine but I would go for a Skylake/Kabylake i7 6700hq/7700hq and at least a 1050ti if you want proper 1080p/60 gaming in modern titles.
i see ! so its old in case of Graphics ...but ill use it for Music Production and TH-cam Video Edidting on my Channel can make the job done without noise and getting hot ?
Yeah I paused and played the video at 0.25 speed just so I can pause before the message is gone.... But in my defense it was not because of the bag, just curiousity
SRAVAN S So is it worth it? Because im planning to get a Gaming laptop so i can use my PC to Editing stuff and Laptop for Gaming or is it not worth it and i should have just upgrade my PC?
I would tell you to get a laptop and upgrade your PC because if you edit and game at the same time you are gonna suffer a lot . By suffering i mean you won't get 60fps and a smooth render with quick times unless you have a ryzen 7 [ you would suffer a bit ] or a stupidly expensive i9 or a thread ripper [ generally not for consumers ].
The best gaming laptop isn't a gaming laptop it's the Dell xps15 i7, GTX 1050, amazing screen, great battery life, quite light, and looks clean af. Perfect for work and 1080p gaming.
Yahel Speiser nah it's the Alienware 13 r3 Oled 😵😉🎉. Mine rocks PC games beautifully and is quite easily portable and the Oled screen is the best display of all😵😀!
Nice vid, I did read your message about the bag 😄 but I only went back to check out your cat who's cool. I see you also have to film around your cat as I do my 5 cats lol
I only want a future where I can take a laptop with me to the work for programming and designing, to the college for taking notes and watching youtube and to my home for web-browsing and gaming.Thin as an Acer swift. Beautiful as a mac. CPU powerful as a desktop.A laptop that I can just plug with a single thunderbolt cable to my eGPU, 144hz monitor, mechanical keyboard, and mouse. Is that too much? It is so hard? I mean, the closest to this description is the Dell XPS 15 and 1500 USD is just too expensive. Please tell me that Im not alone
Honestly you can do that right now for the most part, it is just a very expensive option at this point in time. It will get cheaper over time. Just have to wait it out i suppose.
The Razerblade is the closest to this 17 and 14 in with gtx 1060s and the 17 in has a 120 hz screen and the same type of chassis as the mac but it is expensive and still loud.
i have a gaming laptop and i couldnt be happier with it. i dont have a desktop pc because i dont like the fact you have to have a desk, chair and room just to have one. with my gaming laptop i can use it anywhere in my flat and it handles all the latest games no problem, and it only cost me £1100. most people who hate on gaming laptops are desktop pc fanboys.
Honestly you cant say that you need a desk, chair, and room to have a desktop. I have mine in my own room, I have it on a plastic table, and use a folding chair. Not much money spent.
Main reasons I got a gaming laptop three-odd years ago: -old one needed replacing, and I wanted to finally get serious with 3D modelling, as well as play video games reasonably well. -didn't know much about hardware at the time, didn't think it'd be too bad in the long run. -room was due for redecorating, which involved a lot of wood dust. Mobility was required, just for a short while. In hindsight, I kind of wish I'd gone for a desktop in the first place, because this machine has given me a lot of headaches in the meantime, even if it did give me much joy... for a while. Best advice you can give anyone: do your own research, make your own analysis, but most importantly: Never, ever, *ever* mistake a salesperson for a computer expert. Even if what they're selling is computers. Learned that the hard way.
I disagree. When I tried to build a brand new desktop (along with a monitor, keyboard, office, win 10 etc.) it was more expensive than just buying a similar gaming notebook like Asus GL502VS (SSD, 120Hz Gsync monitor). I think Pascal graphics have changed the equation. The portability is great as well. Desktops are a dying breed imo. We will use notebooks in the future and just plug external monitors and keyboards in them.
Lukáš Havel windows is free. A desktop is miles better than a laptop when it comes to price to performance. Portability is one thing a laptop has over a desktop but upgradability is probably the best part of a desktop. And if you have a graphics amp for a laptop than it kinda removes the portable aspect that a laptop has going for it. Also only a few laptops support thunderbolt 3. Making it hard to find a reasonably price laptop that supports it. I saw a "gaming laptop" it had an Intel i7 and a gtx 1050. For $1000, that's terrible. You could build a desktop with the same specs for half the cost. So if portability isn't your main goal I'd get a desktop.
Daevster 666 Windows is not free. Also half price is a heavy exaggeration if you're building from scratch. The price of a brand new PC goes up to get everything you get from a laptop because you have to include things like Windows, a monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, maybe even an optical drive and web cam if you use that. Laptops conveniently have all that. Check out how everything can add up. pcpartpicker.com/user/QuanTomiK/saved/9qP3FT
I had a digital storm Krypton Laptop for almost 5 years before it finally died. When I first purchased it I was convinced the small size and portability were worth the trade-off for upgradeable parts but as time went on I realized I was also sacrificing ease of repairs since I had to send it into the shop whenever there was a hardware issue (versus just fixing it myself or replacing a part at a much cheaper cost). While I did take my laptop with me on several outings, I found I rarely gamed much while away from home. Now that its dead I've decided going back to a desktop is for me. The cost-saving of self-upgrading and self-repairs trump my needs for portability - and if I really need a portable solution for work or whatever, I can always get a cheapo model at Best Buy.
That’s an obvious statement but for people who don’t know the differences in performance regarding gaming laptops and similarly priced PCs then videos like this are great. Stop trying to act smart. SMH
It's hard to beat a gaming laptop in terms of convenience. Having a full fledged computer, and your gaming system available in your backpack is amazing. Plus, if you're a Comp Sci student, having a mobile GPU lets you play around with multi-threaded GPU programming projects locally, without having to rent cloud GPU time (~$1 per hour).
NEVER buy a laptop primary for gaming. Though when you get a laptop(for any other purpose), add any graphical horsepower possible so if you want to, you have the option.
Rexsace101 I have an Asus GL502VS with the 6700hq and the 1070. I replaced the 1tb with a 500gb ssd and got a free upgrade to 32gb of ram. So it's a pretty great laptop in my eyes.
Excellent topic. I am 66 years old ,living in Ohio and have used large gaming laptops for years until a 21 inch laptop I had literally burned out from overheating. Now I have one total shoulder replacement and soon to have the other shoulder done. I carried these laptops everywhere just because I bought them even if that sat unused in a travel location. My son says I am nuts and he plans on building a desktop gaming computer for me. I may love laptops which cannot sit on your lap but I have lived with the negatives. Get a small portable laptop for work but build a desktop for gaming.
I sometimes wonder why there is no such thing such as powersupply+graphics box which will have 1 connector to laptop Motherboard's PCI 3.0 slot and another to normal power source which would be somehow portable(Heavy) but like powerbank and an option to use between inbuilt graphics and actual graphic card.
Short answer: You are in college or spend lots of time outside your home like me but also have the need to game and render? Then go get one Just dont forget to undervolt to archive max performance and lower temps, Prices arent the issue, just wait when discounts appear
I agree, I bought the Nitro 5 when it is in sale and luckily the price went down to 650$ when the original price was more than $1000+ and I love it, I have no issue with it and I use it a lot cuz Im a college student and I play with my friend's house cuz they use desktop and they always go home early to play.
Yes, they're worth it. Sure, they come with some compromises, but I think the portability factor is a HUGE advantage and it simply can't be ignored. If I had to choose only one, I'd go for the laptop, and this is coming from a pc gamer.
@@iihamed711 ikr! I feel like at that point he was just saying things to stretch out the video because i cant imagine someone like him not realising you can just use an external monitor when its common knowledge. In fact you have even more screen options with a laptop since you can literally use any monitor a desktop can plus the one that's already built in which you can easily take anywhere. Didn't make him look very smart right there😂
Wanted a gaming desktop but since I’m in school a laptop was a must and combining both gaming and school into one purchase was just more convenient time and cost wise for me at this point and time. But once school is done I will definitely be looking at purchasing a desktop.
Man i am a programmer and a game developer(this is my hobby),i have a Asus ROG Strix 753vd and I think that was the best choice for me.It is not loud,it doesn't have overheting problems and it is powerufl AF.
As long as your laptop isn't under an inch thin you they already have a removable processor in your laptop. And it may even be upgradable. And lot tops with desktop 1050 TI's better soldered onto the board and they're the same size as low profile graphics card. I don't understand why laptops don't come with a low profile graphics card instead of a soldered on the board GPU. I mean come on I wouldn't cost more than a dollar and you can upgrade your GPU, and whatever manufactured did this be the first to do it so I don't understand why someone hasn't tried it yet.
I have a gaming laptop an Acer Nitro 5 I live in multiple places. Plus sometimes I just want to play a couple of hours in my couch recliner while on battery. Sometimes I want to have it on a desk. It runs all the hit titles great, multitasks lime a charm. It’s a charm to see such a flat piece of technology do what a desktop or gaming console can do.
kcolg321 for me it's actually a pretty good deal. I found a rare deal of a 930usd dell 7567 with I7 7700hq, gtx 1050ti, a pretty darn good thermal performance and great battery life with typical laptop use(obviously I wouldn't game on battery). This is a rare deal in the expensive country that I'm currently at. I want to play games and also have a laptop that I can carry to school and other places to do simple school works and other Word related projects and also to carry wherever I end up going and play some games over there. I could've just bought a simple laptop or a chromebook for schoolwork and built a gaming PC for my gaming and other productivity (video editing, programming, etc.) desires, but in the country that I live in, you can't build a budget gaming PC for 700usd or less while the cheapest chromebooks I've seen were around 300-400usd. In the end it turns out Dell 7567 at 900usd is a much better option for me here. It's got a faster performance than the cheapest (which is not even cheap) gaming PC that I could build here. So no, your comment is half wrong. By half wrong i mean everyone will come from different preferences and circumstances which will change the worth of the product that they will buy. Sure it's not as light as other nongaming laptops or chromebooks, but that's a sacrifice that I have already acknowledged and find reasonable for what else I'm already getting for what I'm paying.
I feel it depends on an individuals situation. I travel for work, don't have a desk or much room where I stay, and can on a whim have a chance to go home. I'm not going to be moving a desktop with its peripherals around with me. For me, a laptop makes sense. Even if I had a desktop, being able to take my game library with me, Netflix, and everything in between is invaluable. I'll sacrifice some power for portability any day.
I have a PS4 and I need something portable for on the go when am on vacation or college next year since am a final year high school student . Should I get a mid-tier laptop or build/buy a desktop PC . And btw am not actually converting to the “PC master race” am keeping my ps4 Idw to sell it cuz I really like it but I need to play pc and Xbox exclusives as well as older games and emulation . I don’t want a desktop since I already have a gaming console that is kinda similar to a mid-tier desktop pc . So I want portability , backwards compatibility and emulation , the pc and Xbox exclusives and more importantly for college/work .
I bought an MSI GT72s Dominator pro, I bought it bcs I go on a two month vacation every summer and I take it with me. It's been 3 years now, no complaints! Still boots up in 10 sec
Right now im split 3 ways, laptop, prebuilt desktop or making my own. But making a desktop isnt as cheap if youre wanting to play good games. Plus learning how to make them is hard. And laptops are getting alot better, id say that the shittiest part is overpricing and not being able to upgrade. But besides that, laptops are catching up with desktops pretty fast.
Excellent feedback for those of us trying to make a determination as to whether to go desktop or laptop with a jones for gaming. The following comment thread that was generated as a result of your video was also very valuable.
Gaming laptops are shit... don't invest in them. So many kids want gaming laptops and I feel bad for their parents because they are forking out $1000-$3000 for a piece of shit. Unless you travel a shit ton then that's when you need a laptop. Otherwise, build your own.
raw power pure desktop pc rules supreme over any half-supreme master race laptop console peasenes and smarphone gaming microbs i invented a term for smartphone "gamers" microbes haha
Well that crap I have an desktop but also have an laptop with an gtx 1060 which plays every game at max settings 1080p and the price was just under 1000
I don't like em cuz they're heavy, but they're pretty good in my opinion where i can game anywhere especially as a student who is currently living in a hostel.
I do agree that upgradeability is a very compelling argument, but the thing is in a lot of countries the entry cost of a gaming laptop is actually less than a desktop (I'm in Indonesia, and everything here is pretty much twice the cost). Though it is true that over time the cost of upgrades is less than buying another laptop, but if you factor in electricity costs it would actually be pretty similiar (assuming that most people upgrade every 3 years, but here in Indonesia it's more like 5-6). And also that most of the people buying these laptops are students who have very limited budgets and would rather not pay for a laptop for school and a desktop for gaming.
i just joined a troubleshooting page for an opportunity to make some cash online, but the results of the problems speak for themselves, like i literally don't need to tell people anything alot of them are now becoming aware of how much problems laptops bring later, we would also get some help requests for desktop too, but i've only seen about 4 desktop problems every other one was some laptop model that just refuses to boot up, or the drive inside of it failed and even though these computers are supposed to be made for portability most users end up being more reliant on the chargers just to use their laptop because the battery dies. that always ends up defeating the purpose of having one of these machines.
I have a desktop i use it for gaming, web browsing, streaming, and just about everything. While my gf has a gaming laptop because she likes to move around, go places with it, and this was her exact words if she wants to be comfy on the couch and pc game she can.
I have the same exact Predator 17 laptop...I travel a lot and work as a designer for events, which means its easier packing this up and going on site than lugging around a whole pc. The choice to buy a gaming laptop comes down to wether you travel a lot, using it for more than gaming etc...if you game is at home, then its way cheaper to buy a good desktop or a PS4 or something. If your constantly on the move, or use it for lan parties etc. pick it up...again the budget depends on the types of games you play as well...you dont need a 3000$ laptop to play PUBG and Fortnite. For those complaining its too expensive, I picked this up for 2000$, used the same laptop to work my ass off and paid off the debt in like 8 months, so yeah...buy within your budget, or if you are eyeing a certain model, save up smart and use a lower priced one in the meantime.
I think this is a pretty precise explanation. Of course everyone has their own opinion. But there’s a gap between desktops and laptops. Whether it be price, power, and customizability. If you don’t NEED a laptop for gaming. A desktop would be very beneficial.
I’m a full time student and a full time employee, only time I get to game is in between classes and on my lunch break, yeah gaming laptops are worth it
not always about portability ..... IF you don't have much space a laptop will help a lot.
Ben Dunn exactly the same case with me.
Ben Dunn Exactly why I always get laptops, our apartment is crowded af and a big giant Jenga tower wont be ideal in my situation.
TheDemonicBlade just get an itx pc. Slightly bigger than a original Xbox but more upgradable than a laptop. Then buy a small monitor off aliexpress as long as it has a hdmi or display port port so you can connect it to a graphics card.

Shazzkid how much?
For me I always use laptops. They are so convenient, you can pick yourself a nice comfortable location (like your bed) you can take it to your expert friend's house to install more goodies on it. Its just....nice.
whenever im at my house, my laptop is always on the bed and im on the bed with it too. its comfortable.

What about gaming it dies in a hour
my parents are divorced and i go back and forth between both houses so i personally need the portability of a laptop. yes i could get two desk tops but that would later in the end be more expensive than buying one laptop. and being in school it helps to have a laptop where you can play games in class if the teacher is going over things you already know.
Tyler Boothe lol playing in school good idea hhh ...Asus g550jk it's good for gaming ?
Teachers do that a lot...
Tyler Boothe same
Tyler, you haven't heard about repetition?
...
Caleb Way Since when?
I prefer laptop to desktop because I like to surf and work and game all around the house, or I might also take it on my travels, sitting at a desk for hours is so old school....great for developing a bad back though.
So you game standing up? 😂😂
steezliner there is something called a chair buddy

And not many people are really aware of the danger.
I'm a Seafarer, a gamer and I own an Asus ROG G752. I do a lot of traveling and I say gaming laptops are Worth it

Hardware in Laptops have Finally caught up to Desktop technology - at least they're able to cool the GPUs comfortably.
Its just Intel and its cpu that is suffering from heat problems nowadays. Now AMD already addressed that. Great laptop times ahead

Though I also have to point out that gaming laptops of today are much better than a few years ago. Back then, all of them were big, heavy, only had
"are gaming laptops worth it?" No not really, unless you are constantly on the move and need something portable to game on.
You shouldn't even ever NEED portable gaming either.
It beats playing mobile games on the go.
Hmm i wanna get one to bring for vacations to my real country that wouldnt even have to bring my heavy ass gaming computer.. cpu, monitor and keyboards and shits better to get laptop to be able to bring anywhere and easy to bring..

American Dad yeah but you heard the cons right?
American Dad I
Yeah or maybe you have an apartment with a desk, get a decent amount of time off work, don't have kids, so on.

Hail MSI owners ! :D
Marcus Terry-Bedford lol
Marcus Terry-Bedford does Asus g550jk will work well also ?
I guess all gaming laptops serve the same purpose, however they do vary in quality and performance when it comes to which make and model you choose.
i find it used foor 500 $ and i want to use it on music production and my youtube Videos Editing ...can it make my job job done without noise or getting hot ?
Performance wise:
-Yes you have noise if you want to game, Id rather have that than a burning table, but who games without a Headset nowadays, also "serious Shopping" mate what does that even mean do you shop so much u Need a gtx 1080 to run Explorer??
-New nividia Cards lost the M for a reason, so what I loose 5-10fps bc its in a Laptop, still better than carrying 6 Things around.
-Components can be switched, I dont know where you heard that. you can Change ram hdds' and ssds' Ok you cant Switch your cpu or deceide to watercool it, but until then you can buy a new one. (what you wanted to upgrade right away? why did you buy this Laptop then?) Also external gpus will be cheap as fuck soon so we can use that incase we wiggle our Jimmys and Need new powa to feel manly again
- Screens: sure it will stick with me, but I bought mine and I made sure it had a nice Screen at the start, If you dont like it wait and look for another Screen or get a big one and stick it in your HDMI port in your Laptop.BTW the same can be used on Desktops:" oh hey I bought this Screen for my Desktop Setup but I dont like it, lets buy a different one and stick the cable into the connector" same principle in a Laptop.

I know things that you don't wtf is you're problem
I’m in the military, don’t have my own place, so I think the portability factor makes sense. I also have to move it for inspections depending on who is doing the inspection.
This misconception that people have over people choosing laptop is wrong. People not always chooses a laptop because they always travel. Is also because people prefer a laptop over a desktop. Also is because desktop that are made for gaming and video editing are very huge, and it is a problem for people with small space. So they choose a laptop because they have small space.
I choose it because then i don't have to buy a seperate keyboard, touchpad/mouse, webcam, speakers and moniter xd
In regards to fan noise I love the background sound and find it relaxing

Adiprima Sulakstono The Witcher 3 is one of the most demanding open world games for pc, you should have taken that into account when buying said asus rog assuming you had the game already, don't know much about ghost recon so can't comment there, and watch dogs 2 is just a terribly optimized game in general.
What!? You resign a job which is what let you to buy your gaming peripheral to game? *Mindblown*

Something many overlook when choosing between a laptop or desktop is the fact that laptops tend to be more energy efficient (some say up to 80% better), so a laptop is more friendly to your electric bill!
1:47 no I just paused the video cuz I was curious as to what it was saying
GrayFox370 Asus g550jk it's a good start ?
That's a really old laptop. And it's severely underpowered. 4700hq is the beginning of the soldered BGA chips and it's completely locked down and throttles. The 850m is slower than a GTX 750. If that's your budget then I guess its fine but I would go for a Skylake/Kabylake i7 6700hq/7700hq and at least a 1050ti if you want proper 1080p/60 gaming in modern titles.
i see ! so its old in case of Graphics ...but ill use it for Music Production and TH-cam Video Edidting on my Channel

Honestly you can do that right now for the most part, it is just a very expensive option at this point in time. It will get cheaper over time. Just have to wait it out i suppose.
Unfortunately in that future, that laptop would be underpowered compared to the bigger computers.
The Razerblade is the closest to this 17 and 14 in with gtx 1060s and the 17 in has a 120 hz screen and the same type of chassis as the mac but it is expensive and still loud.

NGT4LIFE true
well getting a handy future proof budget laptops are good. Some prefer portability over anything.
title = do you need them?
me = fuck yeah who didnt !
Main reasons I got a gaming laptop three-odd years ago:
-old one needed replacing, and I wanted to finally get serious with 3D modelling, as well as play video games reasonably well.
Best advice you can give anyone: do your own research, make your own analysis, but most importantly:
Never, ever, *ever* mistake a salesperson for a computer expert. Even if what they're selling is computers. Learned that the hard way.
The predator 21x is WAY TO OVERPRICED!! Just get a normal gaming laptop for like $700
You can get a acer nitro 5 gaming laptop with that price my dude
I don't have cable internet in my room, so I do need a laptop.
Plus it's really cool and comfortable to watch videos or movies right on your bed!
Yeah pascal is really shaking things up. My new Lenovo y520 w/ a 1050ti was worth it. I wouldnt have considered a laptop until now.
Kevin Cheddar you can download windows 10 free legally my guy, you tried.
For gods sake... If you have Win 7 or 8 already than yes, it is. But if you are building a new computer from the scratch than no.

I travel for work a lot. So yes. Yes they're worth buying when you're not at home all day every day.
6:30 I mean, I'm going to college, so...
I purchased a Laptop in 2017, died in 2021 and I bought my first desktop PC and I'm so happy to finally try this :)
You can make DIY laptop with desktop components
Why do people still make videos about this, some people need a gaming laptop, and others dont. there now you don't have to watch
Maybe because they want to know the pros and coins with getting a gaming laptop…ya dingus

Why? I had only my laptop with a 1070 and a gsync screen for almost a year. never had any issues.
Mike Hedges may i ask what laptop it is
Rexsace101 I have an Asus GL502VS with the 6700hq and the 1070. I replaced the 1tb with a 500gb ssd and got a free upgrade to 32gb of ram. So it's a pretty great laptop in my eyes.
Mike Hedges thank you. I will consider this in my buying of a laptop
I mean, I am trying to sell mine xD

Fake news
himanshu modak there is such thing actually.

5:20 orrrrr hear me out...just plug in an external monitor just like you can with a desktop 😐
That’s what I do. I don’t know why he ignored that. You can literally use the same pc monitor for a laptop 🤦🏻♂️
Didn't make him look very smart right there😂
I bought a laptop and hooking it up to my TV so the screen thing is not a problem, and it's a lot nicer then the laptop screen
Hey! I paused the video, but only out of curiosity! :P
Rene Pena me too
I don't care about portability, I just want power, huge power, massive power, ULTIMATE POWER!
No offense but how does a TH-camr with 60k subs get a 9000 laptop (this is not meant to be diss it's just a question)
+CN Tech Ask nicely!
PC Centric I just was wondering if you got it sent to you or you bought it or if you have to send it back after a review
Wanted a gaming desktop but since I’m in school a laptop was a must and combining both gaming and school into one purchase was just more convenient time and cost wise for me at this point and time. But once school is done I will definitely be looking at purchasing a desktop.
What do you guys think about SAGER laptops that can be upgraded AND use desktop components? Canadian EuroCom has the same approach I think. = )
sager is a great choice of a laptop, but they are usually pretty bulky.
Man i am a programmer and a game developer(this is my hobby),i have a Asus ROG Strix 753vd and I think that was the best choice for me.It is not loud,it doesn't have overheting problems and it is powerufl AF.
lol thats if you play Starcraft 1 hahaha
As long as your laptop isn't under an inch thin you they already have a removable processor in your laptop. And it may even be upgradable. And lot tops with desktop 1050 TI's better soldered onto the board and they're the same size as low profile graphics card. I don't understand why laptops don't come with a low profile graphics card instead of a soldered on the board GPU. I mean come on I wouldn't cost more than a dollar and you can upgrade your GPU, and whatever manufactured did this be the first to do it so I don't understand why someone hasn't tried it yet.
That would be the end the gravy train, lul.
I have a gaming laptop an Acer Nitro 5
I live in multiple places. Plus sometimes I just want to play a couple of hours in my couch recliner while on battery.
Sometimes I want to have it on a desk.
It runs all the hit titles great, multitasks lime a charm. It’s a charm to see such a flat piece of technology do what a desktop or gaming console can do.
Are they worth it? Well short answer: No.
Long answer: Nooooooooooooooooooooo.
kcolg321 You forgot the hell before the no in the long answer.
kcolg321 for me it's actually a pretty good deal.
Sure it's not as light as other nongaming laptops or chromebooks, but that's a sacrifice that I have already acknowledged and find reasonable for what else I'm already getting for what I'm paying.
kcolg321 yes they are
Well its all preference of course, but I like changeability for my internal hardware as well as my keyboard/monitor and not a harsh price.
Had a pc for 5-7 years, then moved to a different city and bought a laptop. Since then, can't imagine buying a pc.
BlUeDrAgOn look at the Acer Predator Helios 300 8th generation with the 144Hz screen, it is a great laptop.
PC centric: you’ll probably want something a bit more portable
Also PC centric: uses the Acer Predator 17
When i hide from my wife and play. Yes its portable! It is need and a must!!
I bought an MSI GT72s Dominator pro, I bought it bcs I go on a two month vacation every summer and I take it with me. It's been 3 years now, no complaints! Still boots up in 10 sec
Why buy a laptop when you can build a pc for 8$
Chessire kaun sa pc
If only
Dave Lee?
Right now im split 3 ways, laptop, prebuilt desktop or making my own. But making a desktop isnt as cheap if youre wanting to play good games. Plus learning how to make them is hard. And laptops are getting alot better, id say that the shittiest part is overpricing and not being able to upgrade. But besides that, laptops are catching up with desktops pretty fast.
Bruh. My job requires me to carry $500,000 equipment in that very same pelican case that massive laptop comes in.
I want laptop that be able to run fortnite smoothly while recording it ? What should I get ?
Msi
Alienware
Acer predator Helios 300
Sager
you need money because laptops are so expensive
Excellent feedback for those of us trying to make a determination as to whether to go desktop or laptop with a jones for gaming. The following comment thread that was generated as a result of your video was also very valuable.
Gaming laptops are shit... don't invest in them. So many kids want gaming laptops and I feel bad for their parents because they are forking out $1000-$3000 for a piece of shit.
Unless you travel a shit ton then that's when you need a laptop.
Otherwise, build your own.
*Triggered*
raw power pure desktop pc rules supreme over any half-supreme master race laptop console peasenes and smarphone gaming microbs i invented a term for smartphone "gamers" microbes haha
Well that crap I have an desktop but also have an laptop with an gtx 1060 which plays every game at max settings 1080p and the price was just under 1000
It still does not work like gtx 1060 on a desktop so its way weaker...
www.techwalla.com/articles/why-are-laptops-slower-than-desktops
Yes, it's worth it. You cantake it home with an friend and you can move it everywhere.
I say yes! For people like me who travel a lot, gaming laptop is a must.
But if not for portability, I will always choose a desktop.
i just joined a troubleshooting page for an opportunity to make some cash online, but the results of the problems speak for themselves, like i literally don't need to tell people anything alot of them are now becoming aware of how much problems laptops bring later, we would also get some help requests for desktop too, but i've only seen about 4 desktop problems every other one was some laptop model that just refuses to boot up, or the drive inside of it failed and even though these computers are supposed to be made for portability most users end up being more reliant on the chargers just to use their laptop because the battery dies. that always ends up defeating the purpose of having one of these machines.
Blame the manufacturer and the user, not the laptop itself. Buying the wrong laptop will make you upset along with your wallet...
Sometimes I'm not able to sit in a chair very long, so sitting on my bed with my laptop is more comfortable.
Or you can simply attach your laptop to a TV monitor via USB C n enjoy a better bigger display as well!
I’m a full time student and a full time employee, only time I get to game is in between classes and on my lunch break, yeah gaming laptops are worth it
