Just wanted to let everyone that stumbles back on this video know...this machine still holds up really well.
I purchased it 3 years ago and I have only had a few issues. One of which being that the computer would turn off without warning when it was on battery. At first I thought it was a bios issue but I am confident now that the battery connection was just a bit finicky.
Another reason this laptop has performed so well over the years is its upgradability. I purchased another 8GB of RAM bringing it up to a nice future proof 16GB. I found that the 256GB SSD filled up very quickly for games so I also purchased a 1TB hybrid drive, which at first drastically slowed down boot-up times, but this has been resolved with bios updates as well.
All in all I still agree with most of Linus' points from 3 years ago. I bought this for college and it has served me well. My only huge cons are that the thing weighs in at about 9 lbs, so it's not exactly kind when lugging it around. Also, the battery has not held up well, though that may just be my unit. I typically am getting about 3-4 hours of normal use now (no gaming).
Despite this, I am likely going to purchase a Macbook Pro for my last 2 years + beyond. This is because it is far more portable, far more professional in appearance, and an all around better laptop to carry day-to-day in a working environment.
This is not to say the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 gaming is going in the trash, though. It will remain plugged in while I build my own gaming tower (which could easily take a couple more years, and this laptop is going to work just fine until then.
Closing thoughts: in my opinion, still one of the best budget gaming laptop options (even in 2020!) for highschool students soon transitioning to college.

Good to know I'm not the only one. I thought I was the only one with that problem of laptop suddenly shutting down when on battery. It really sucks when that happens.

I got it since 2018 i fucking hate it... It is slow af, heats up like hell even when its on an open spaced table with glass on it and now even Photoshop or Illustrator make the laptop want to kill itself, trying to make anual maintenance it's s nightmare so no option to change the thermal paste without the risk of murdering the laptop, conclution i should have build a pc and would be in less problems

He's talking WiFi speeds (For example copying from one laptop to another using the wifi) and that's 20 megabytes/second. We use megabits when talking download speeds - So that transfer speed is actually 160 megabits per second (160mbps = 20mbs). Subtle but profound difference.

    5 years later update:
My 7567 still works pretty well, the only thing I had to replace was the battery that was starting to bulge (and the screen, but that was my fault cuz I accidentally stepped on it, but I ended up getting a better panel than the original TN so anyway). Also, I added another 8 GB Ram stick (Got a nice 2×8 pack of Corsair vengeance), so now with 16 GB it works better than ever!
Mine came with a 1050 (not the TI version) and it still holds well. I don't play AAA games regularly, but GTA V still plays well, and I had no problems running Battlefield V; I mostly play things like Minecraft, World of Warships, Rocket League and Battlefront II, all of them running well, even more so after the RAM upgrade.
The only thing I would complain about are the loud fans, which doesn't bother me much seeing as I'm always wearing a headset when playing, and how heavy it is.
Honestly, unless something happens to it, I don't see myself buying another laptop for another 2-3 years, possibly more

I got this laptop in 2017 and used it until early 2021 and here are some things to look out for if you are buying it second hand:
    - The asdf and jkl; keys (or the middle row for some other users) will not work for whatever reason until you perform a keyboard replacement yourself
    - Make sure to clean out the back vents because they can get easily clogged with dust, and the metal grills could be bent over one another as a result of extensive wear and tear and could block cooling
    - The battery will need a replacement by now as they diminish pretty fast
Other than that this laptop is a very good bargain if you want to game at a very cheap price used in 2023

I bought this laptop in 2018 and it still holds reasonably well 3 years later. Although the Indian version does not have the cool bezels and red colored cover, it looks quite cheap here with not so good build quality. But performance wise, it has been an awesome experience with this product. Coupled with the 74 kwh battery pack, the on time is awesome. I can do tasks that require low computing power without plugging it in for hours at a stretch. It runs games like csgo, valorant, ARMA 3, etc consistently at 60 fps, although I won't recommend to play any new game at high settings. Haven't faced any overheating problems yet and I cannot remember one single incident of it crashing. Overall, a great investment none the less.

To be fair, Linus, the fact that it is only a SATA SSD means nothing to a student.
I mean it obviously would not be used for media creation with only an i5, 1x1 wifi and 8gb ram.
it's pretty clear why they went with a SATA SSD and not NVME.
And it's still an SSD. massive improvement over a 5400 rpm Hard drive.

    • @GloriousEggroll
      @GloriousEggroll 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

agree with this, I have the older 7559 with an i7, and not only used it for school and gaming, but for work and coding projects as well. plus the fact that it has a spare hdd bay means you can also put a 7600rpm storage or second non-m.2 ssd drive (if you have the cash) in later, just keep in mind you'll be getting sata speeds. it may not be nvme, but its room for good affordable expansion later on. there. it -also- supports up to 32gb ddr4, if you need that much ram.
ideally if you're going to get this for gaming, working, and school (and if you have a slightly bigger budget), id go with the i7 model with an m.2 ssd, upgrade the ram to 16gb, and grab yourself a second 1tb 7600 rpm storage drive. I love my 7559 with this setup and it's lasted me.
also, idk about the newer model, but the 7559 is linux friendly :)

Most Dell computers are; in fact, there was once a time when Dell had an option where you could choose between Linux and Windows, with the Linux version costing you minus the price of a Windows licensing fee. Unfortunately, Microsoft locked them into a contract that forced them to stop. They still make them Linux friendly, though...

Hey, if you find yourself on this video, I’d like to report my model still works great, bar a few issues.
Now, I’d like to mention this is a core I7 variant with a 1TB hard drive, not the exact one in this video.
It’s still good on performance, with CSGO being handled at even high settings at 60FPS.
Although, it’s cooling is not what is described in this video. It thermal throttles very often even with a cooling fan underneath the system. Maybe that’s just my old laptop getting older.
The hard drive is molasses slow and the SSD isn’t much better, but if you need a lot of storage, it’s not the worst investment.
I couldn’t recommend it as a daily driver nowadays, but if you find it for cheap and want a decent gaming experience...it’s pretty good and should serve you well.

FYI to anyone watching this in present day. I got this back in July 2017 for my final year masters project/study abroad. it is still running strong today. Never had problems with overheating and I mainly use it as a "desktop" sitting in a vertical stand with lid closed with peripherals and 4k monitor. It's also extremely easy to upgrade as its very user friendly in the layout under the chassis. I uses to use it for FEA simulations and model renders but today it's mainly as a media hub and for games like city skylines, age of empires, total war which it runs admirable on medium to high settings.
Best upgrades to do in order which will bump its life by a couple more years before a required upgrade with my estimated costs:
    - wifi card £30-50
    - M.2 ssd 1tb £100
    - upgrade HDD to SSD 1tb £60
    - additional 8 GB RAM £50
Overall solid laptop. Built like a tank. Fantastic cooling (especially in vertical with vents cleaned every few months). It's heavy but that was fine with me since I took it oversees and kept it in labs and now it's a desktop. The screen is shit but I just use an external monitor.
    Overall really good.

Approximately how many hours of battery life do you get with normal activities like Web surfing and TH-cam or Office365 apps?? Also the Dell 7567 that's available at eBay are the Full HD i5 processors not the UHD i7 ones, so that's a bummer. i7 ones are used or refurbished.

Bought the black version late in 2017 (7700HQ / 1050Ti / IPS). Replaced the ram with 16GB (2x8GB 2400MHz) Corsair Vengeance (dual channel makes a big difference), installed a 500GB WD Black NVMe boot drive (later replaced with a 1TB version by WD under RMA) and last year swapped out the original SSHD for a SATA Seagate 1TB SSD. Great platform, easy to upgrade and still feels like a little rocket ship in 2021. It can keep up with the GTX 1060 in thin & light laptops of the time mostly because it doesn't thermal throttle all that much with the robust cooling. I play FPS' mostly, this thing flies with recent iterations of DOOM, Wolfenstein etc.

It comes with an Intel 3165 (cheap), which I've upgraded to an Intel 8265 (top of the line). I got it on ebay for $50 CAD. My gigabit download speed test went from 292 Mbps to 485 Mbps, so the internal wifi card does make a difference. I also added in a 500GB Samsung 960 Evo M.2 drive and I'm getting 3,000 MBps reads instead of 107 MBps on the stock mechanical drive or 545 MBps on an older Samsung 850 500 GB drive that I tried. Lastly, I added in another stick of 8GB 2400Mhz ram. The upgrades are definitely worth it.

I'm not really into hardcore gaming, I occasionally play GTA 5, FIFA or Civilization 6.
The only reason I like this Dell 7567 very much because of its battery life (for university/studying) and speakers for movies/music.
