Thanks! I have another one in this vein partially filmed, but I just haven’t had the time to edit it together. Look for it in the not too distant future!
Great video. I'm sure there's a ton of guys out there that will appreciate this info. I personally have a 90 GT but still watched the video all the way through. knowledge is power!
There are videos out there that show you how to do it with a kit, but a lot fewer that show you how to do it with salvage parts. My cash outlay on this was $0 due to having these odds and ends already kicking around the shop. Thanks for watching!
Great informative video as always! I have a 90GT still running an A9L with a old school chip I had tuned years ago. Was debating to update my harness and ecu with a Terminator X.
I still dyno tune the stockers with the old chips but when my supply is gone, it looks like they are gone. Terminator X or Megasquirt are good options if you are changing to a standalone.
I have a supply of chips to do dyno tunes on these cars. I used to offer mail order but the chips have become so valuable now that I only offer them to dyno customers or if you are prepared to pay the dyno tune rate for them, which is not a deal I expect anyone to agree to. I have been taking every step possible to keep a supply, but when they are gone, they are gone.
You can use tape too, like I did on the meter end of this conversion. One thing you have to watch for is stray strands of wire puncturing the insulating envelope when the connector is hot, and a second layer of heat shrink or tape will help with that issue if you end up with it.
All you actually need for the joining the wires together is a good soldering wire that melts easily, you can twist the wires around each other then wrap that spiraled with soldering wire then hit it with a heat gun then slip your heat shrink into place and hit that with a heat gun
I will say that almost every underhood solder job I have seen has been terrible, and I just cut some out and repaired those parts of the harness in my 88 on Friday. Now that solder seals are inexpensive there’s no real excuse for a shabby splice since these connectors are so easy to handle.
When I did a eng swap into my fox 2.3l -> 89 Lincoln mark 8 302, I bought a harness from eBay (93 5.0) that would make my car MAF I also bought a air meter from LMR and almost bought a A9P (my car is auto) computer from Facebook when I tested it my car wouldn’t turn on at all it’d just crank. So I didn’t buy the computer. After all I just ended up using the harness with the Lincoln’s computer and works fine with a 93 fox harness
It’s not entirely clear to me what combination you have but if I read this right you are using the Lincoln pcm with the 93 v8 mustang harness. The Lincoln is a speed density computer but has a very similar pinout to the mustang computer. I assume that if you got it working you left the MAF out, hooked the map sensor up to manifold vacuum, and used a stock cam and injectors. Chances are that it could be made to work like that.
Great video as always! Lots of good information and easy to follow.

Great informative video, I have an 88 vert in triple desert tan down here in Australia, luckily also a California car
That’s funny because I have a friend with a Foxbody with a Cleveland stroker that has Australian heads on it! Thanks for watching!
@@tecmotiondyno yep, closed chamber small port used on our 302 Cleveland, same bore as 351 3” stroke, we also use the 3” rod on a 351 crank
The heads on Cam’s car are the CHI 3V.
@@tecmotiondyno that makes far more sense 😄I was on the original Ford line
One of these days I might find the time to do a feature on that car - it’s a pretty special build.
Add vss when harness is out and check engine light wiring is right in passenger kick panel
Probably some good advice
Great videos. I did mine awhile back but I believe there’s some wiring to the fuel pump relay also
If you have an 88 EFI harness and an 88 dash harness, your fuel pump setup will be fine

@@tecmotiondynowhy couldn't you have lived in the states and particularly southern states and had a business where we could hire you
@@tecmotiondyno are you saying you have a supply of chipped a9l's??

I use those hybrid connectors but i also use heat srink over those connections

Like a surgeon! Was 88 the cutoff? My 89 has maf.
87 and 88 are speed density, 89 is MAF but no airbag. 88 California was also MAF.
