@SuperMitsa I think the main reason there’s not anymore of a vs mode is that is was on the ds version. Remember ds extra modes such as the mini games from sm64ds and nsmbds never came back or even the voice chat from Metroid prime hunters never returned to other games in the same way

@@flaggy185 Yes but any zombie tougher than basic zombie will beat puffshroom(s). Ex. : trashcan, screendoor, conhead, etc. In conclusion, only use puffshroom against basic zombie, imp or as a stall spam.
This was an incredibly well made video! I especially liked the SGM 1v1 compilation, I could only imagine how long this video took to make with all the great looking transitions and special effects.
Quebecker here, I just want to add to your comment about Quebec’s view on English. Quebec has a really rough history with the rest of the canadian provinces as it was originally a French colony. When the British conquered what was “New-France” at the time, they attemped to suppress French culture. I’m gonna skip a huge chunk of history, but the important thing to know about Quebec is the preservation of French has always been an integral thing to its population. Today, Quebec understands that it is a part of an English country, and therefore understands that they cannot completely ban French, especially due to the huge immigrant population in regions like the island of Montreal and the South Shore. So as a compromise, Quebec allows and teaches English, but has many laws such as Bill 101, which force French to be the main language of the province. English and French can coexist in media but the French portion must be larger. Apologies for this random long comment lol. Good video

I really loved how they gathered a bunch of pvz youtubers for a tournament, it was very entertaining for me. Im glad there are still videos being made on it :) Am I the only one who wants a second tourament?
I feel like the tournament may have been slightly more "accurate" if it were 6 battles instead of 3 - 3 battles for each player on each side and that would hopefully work out issues like players randomly consistently getting the side they do better with.
To think PvZ Co-Op was a Silly little side Mode for the Game with no Real Purpose then Having a bit of Fun then Turn into a Complex Strategy based Game that has so, SO Meny Strategies and Outcomes "Possibly" Accidentally made.

Finally got around to watching this, and this was very well done! The first time I ever played PVZ was the DS version and I remember playing VS mode with friends at school & even my dad some times. I also want to say, Thank You Danerade for singlehandedly getting me back into PVZ. Last year I randomly got recommended your video about the PVZ2 Eclise mod and I was like "IK there's mods for the first game, but there's mods for PVZ2???" and I streamed the entirety of Eclise AND Grind Thousand & I'm currently streaming the new update to GT. I fell off of PVZ2 back around the end of 2014 and I played PVZ1 again in 2019, but finding out about the PVZ2 modding community changed my life for the better. IDK why I hadn't subbed before, but now I am!
As you said yourself, you have came a very long way from that PvZ 3 video. I'm impressed with how you've managed to improve your content so much in just a bit over a year. While I enjoy some of your videos more than others, you feel like another one of those TH-camrs that can talk about anything and make it entertaining. It's been more than 2 years, and this video still inspired countless souls to join and give VS Mode a try. Such a masterpiece that deserve to go down the history of this game.
Has anyone ever wondered why VS mode is only on day? Imagine the strategies on pool, roof, night, and fog. Night would allow zombies to spawn from gravestones when a wave is summoned, there would be no brain or sun from the sky, and mushrooms don't need coffee bean. Pool would add an extra lane, an "ambush" for a wave, and pool lanes. Fog would probably not work, but it would be interesting to see it implemented. Roof would also be hard to implement, but maybe it starts the plants with flower pots, and tombstones cost 25 more brain(s).

Your journey, and this PvP for PvE game scenario... I see myself in you, and PvZ Versus in Rimworld PvP. The Summer Cuck Cup 2022 was the tournement I participated in (... Not like there are any other Rimworld tournements) and I actually really struggled with vanilla Rimworld, even more PvP Rimworld since that became more of a RTS, then I had a short training arc to improve before going into the Cuck Cup 2022 (Yes, actually its name). It was similiarly structured like this tournament, also with 8 teams of two. We came, we fought best out of 3's, we won the first two matches. The finale however, that was a sad display, and while we won the first round with RNG but then lost the second to RNG, and the third because I paniced and instead of doing the smart thing, I did... Something.
It was sometime around 2013 when I played PvZ and many other titles on my DSi at school with a bunch of friends, we had alot of fun. I owned most of the cartridges which gave me an advantage over everyone else by knowing all the strategies on vs mode and when snaking was introduced to Mario Kart DS, or knowing where all the stars and powerups would spawn on NSMBDS and SM64DS, really fun times, thank you nintendo and popcap.
Ok but this video is genuinely funny. Editing was spot on, and jokes rarely (if ever) fell flat. Actually got a few out loud laughs instead of the usual nose hair exhale.

My thoughts on your Zombie meta(as a layman) Stock zombie makes sense to be S tier. I think the reason stock zombie is so good is because it's not balanced for this gamemode. Stock is balanced for regular PvZ where he only appears as a very very small pressure/reminder that zombies are attacking, they're like flag zombies. And what makes them weak is that they're weak, don't appear in big groups and have random spawn. But in vs mode you can control both the number of em and where to spawn them, giving zombies a slight advantage early game. Pogo makes sense as S tier, probably would've also put him so high, those b*stards are annoying in regular game so ofc they're annoying here. Gargantua also makes sense, although he's more dangerous here since you can control where to send him plus he's gonna come out way earlier then adventure mode gargantuan. Bungee idk what to think of him but your logic is sound. Wish you talked about screen door and buckethead being in A tier. I guess they're just a good support for basic zombie? As in they're good for pressure or basic zombie can tank instances while buckethead is behind him. I REALLY wish to hear your explanation for Football and Dancer being B only, I'd think those two would be stronger, especially dancer one. Again I haven't personally played vs mode, but from what I seen, dancer is usually the zombie that ends up winning vs matches. C tier also needs a lot of explanation, I guess pogo and conehead I can understand but why paper zombie is low? Xd D list makes sense, they don't seem to be fast enough for vs mode where speed seems everything for zombie player. And f... Yeah no arguement here, Jackobox is just bad, and i assume they didn't buff him for vs mode. And what's even flag zombies ability? Maybe if he buffed zombies he could be A tier?
Flag zombie straight up spawns and wave of zombies. When is used to play this game with friends a lot of times the zombie player would resort to siege tactics so the catapult zombie and cheap zombies up front (trash can, regular,conehead) but we’d use the flag zombie when the plants defense were weakened.
I wish you had explained the tier list and some of the plants and zombies a bit more. Like, why is kernel pult so much lower than cabbage? What does flag zombie do? etc. Still, great vid tho 👍
Kernel-Pult essentially relies on RNG (luck) to be good. While Cabbage does the same Damage Per Second as a Peashooter, if Kernel doesn't throw butter, then it's Damage Per Second is laughable at best. Flag Zombie summons a huge wave of zombies, and while that sounds good, it's price of 300 brains for something that the plants can counter pretty easily with some Fume-Shrooms or Cabbage is only viable in Sudden Death, when you can get a large stream of brains. With enough Gravestones, you can get enough brains to place another Flag Zombie right after it's cool-down ends, but even then plants can fend that off with some skill
The perceived "Arenaz" sucks. But there is a fan game that combines PVZ2 and VS Mode together. It is called "PVZ It's Versus Time" and there's a video on it.

who knows, in a different world maybe this game would have been as popular as league of legends or dota2, but i feel if the game was played professionally, the starfruit would be banned worldwide.
i doubt that doomshroom yes, but starfruit can be countered by bungee because bungee costs cheaper and it takes a while to place down all of the starfruits needed

Throughout it you kept mentioning that plants have the advantage, how do you think you could balance the game between plants and zombies so both have the option to play aggro or stall or just how would you change the more in general? I would be interested in seeing a video on this.
Balancing would be useful. While I don't know any video which discusses this, I do know a place where people have discussed balancing options including my own takes. And also play style is in consideration as well just in case we cannot edit code to balance the game.
Super expensive and only spawns several basic zombies with maybe one Buckethead zombie, but even then they come out from the bush instead of out of the ground closer to the plants.

When is used to play this game with friends a lot of times the zombie player would resort to siege tactics so the catapult zombie and cheap zombies up front (trash can, regular,conehead) but we’d use the flag zombie when the plants defense were weakened.
I wish you had explained the tier list and some of the plants and zombies a bit more. Like, why is kernel pult so much lower than cabbage? What does flag zombie do? etc. Still, great vid tho 👍
Kernel-Pult essentially relies on RNG (luck) to be good. While Cabbage does the same Damage Per Second as a Peashooter, if Kernel doesn't throw butter, then it's Damage Per Second is laughable at best. Flag Zombie summons a huge wave of zombies, and while that sounds good, it's price of 300 brains for something that the plants can counter pretty easily with some Fume-Shrooms or Cabbage is only viable in Sudden Death, when you can get a large stream of brains. With enough Gravestones, you can get enough brains to place another Flag Zombie right after it's cool-down ends, but even then plants can fend that off with some skill

But there is a fan game that combines PVZ2 and VS Mode together. It is called "PVZ It's Versus Time" and there's a video on it.

doomshroom yes, but starfruit can be countered by bungee because bungee costs cheaper and it takes a while to place down all of the starfruits needed

Throughout it you kept mentioning that plants have the advantage, how do you think you could balance the game between plants and zombies so both have the option to play aggro or stall or just how would you change the more in general? I would be interested in seeing a video on this.
Balancing would be useful. While I don't know any video which discusses this, I do know a place where people have discussed balancing options including my own takes.
And also play style is in consideration as well just in case we cannot edit code to balance the game.

Why is flag zombie F
Super expensive and only spawns several basic zombies with maybe one Buckethead zombie, but even then they come out from the bush instead of out of the ground closer to the plants.

@@Shyguymask by the time the you fully plant all the graves you'll have plenty of Brains and by the time they kill them you'll have enough brains again and it'll be recharged

t cost 300 and all walks from the back, which is significant because plants get plenty of time to prepare to defend. Cherry Bomb destroys half of its wave.
