This was a super fun event to not only play but also coordinate. This was defiantly a highlight for me and my 'TH-cam career". And even though I choked hard, not just hard, very embarrassingly in the end, the mixture of the fact I was streaming live to 250+ people (you can't tell but I was basically shaking, especially the longer and longer it went on!), previous streams had crashed and failed, I was going up against someone that had simply a lot more time and experience behind their back, and the subconscious idea that I was the underdog who is going up against someone who has beat PvZ with no sunflowers, 2 seed slots, and no symmetry, was a lot :P. But I don't at all regret streaming the experience as not only was it something I looked forward to in anticipation, but the actual interactivity with everyone's community was so fun. The streams also act as a sort of time-capsule in my eyes, so no regrets as previously stated. And of course, I'd be down for a rematch any day of the week ;).

It's really interesting to see that this game had potential to be a really popular competetive online game. Kinda similar to BTD Battles, it could've been that. Thank you all of the creators here for doing this collab, really brings attention to this mode. I'm fascinated to see if the community can host their own battles here and there

Well, in order to make a fair game. One side need to be NOT overwhelmingly stronger than the other. And with so many plants and zombies in the second game it's kinda hard to balance the game.

Yeah, not only did it not have the versus mode, but it was also lower resolution and didn't have the zombies allergic to nuts. However, it can be modded, and it also has the limbo page :) . You can play endless survival on night roof.
Real talk: doom shroom and shamrocket are shit because they come out waaaaay too slow and dont do enough in a game where games are super short. Spending 5 sun on removing at most 2 big minions is a massive waste because you should be finishing the game as aggro, developing board as tempo/midrange, pulling off combos ,and as plant control decks are ramp based, playing things like cob.
@@zcarlettt still annoying for the zombie side because it generally counter some deck. If you playing control or tempo deck(not science deck) as zombie it will put you in a disadvantage. On the highest lvl of the game shamrocket and doom shroom is generally not good but on the lower lvl it is basically a big F bomb to your zombies
Theres like 3 good cards that get countered max, and those cards really arent even worth countering since you have mich better things to be playing T3+, like 3nut + wallnut/garlic, ramped cob, and pecan. Typically good zombie tempo decks are going to abuse things like Gravestones so you're only going to be able to counter them a turn later once the damage is already done.
I still dont know why Popcap didnt release a new patch for PC to look and play like the console versions, having the updated graphics and the new game modes... The same happens with Heavy Weapon, Bookworm, Zuma Revenge, Peggle, Bejeweled 2, Bejeweled Twist and i dont know if im forgetting something. And seeing that Peggle 2 was only released for consoles, it seems like Popcap "hate" PC xD
I hope to see the community for this mode grow in the future. Like you said, it's not perfect, but I can see lots of potential in this as a fellow player of Plants vs. Zombies.
I remember playing DS multiplayer, playing as plants was so hard but I eventually noticed the coffee bean was 25 sun, too. Used scardey shrooms, and it worked decently well... But as soon as a couple zombies infiltrate your front lines and shuts down your shrooms, it's all over...

I used to love this versus mode and play it for ages with my cousin on PS3. Was such a pleasant surprise cause we didn't realise it was a feature initially (we had just wanted to play campaign 2 player which was also great fun though the butter ability was very broken)
I am very certain that if you have the pvz disc of the ps3 version game, you can emulate that game on computer on the rpcs3 emulator by dumping the files.
This mode has a shocking amount of depth and strategy to it. Would not have expected such competitive play for an obscure Console/Nintendo DS multiplayer mode.
I'd love to see this again! Tournament pvz I think has potential to be a very niche but fun little scene. Getting more youtubers in to really put on show those who are still in the pvz community also sounds great!
Honestly, The Multiplayer of Plants vs Zombies has some similarities to Starcraft 2: one side being better at rushing early on and the latter counterattacking. Zombies are like the Zerg while Plants side is like Terran (or more exactly, Protoss) to compare with. "OMG BASIC ZOMBIE RUSH!!!" *"Kekeke"*

EA aren't even that bad when it comes to the PvZ Franchise. Okay, I get it. PvZ 2 has microtransactions and it's very difficult. Remember these are the guys who also made Garden Warfare 1 + 2 as well as PvZ Heroes! Those games are fucking great!

The reason I think this mode is jacked is because in the normal levels the zombies are set in a way and organized in a way that the player has to beat, so you know EXACTLY how to beat the level. But in the VS mode the player (human) can outsmart and randomize tactics making it an (impossible) mode.

VS mode is very fun. I wish that there was an I-zombie focus mode where you pick a loadout of zombies and have to try and bypass a lawn of plants. I-zombie endless is neat but you don't get to use Gargantuars or catapult or zombonis.
That's a good question. I've suggested 225 at least. But remember it's recharge is 60 seconds before Sudden Death and 20 Sudden Death. It's cost can be changed with Cheat Engine.

For me this is the best pvz 1 version, just because of the co-op and versus multiplayer
It was even more of a painful ending when Danerade lost to a Basic zombie who had literally 1 hp left.

What price would doom shroom have to be for it to be allowed?
That's a good question. I've suggested 225 at least. But remember it's recharge is 60 seconds before Sudden Death and 20 Sudden Death. It's cost can be changed with Cheat Engine.
@@Plovazo Thanks for a cool reply. I think it was a bit dumb to completely ban certain items, because they should just be choosable if you have the right price. Some sort of game theory there.
I mean yeah, cheat engine IS inconvenient for such a tournament (literal cheating lol), but I think there were better solutions. Thank you again for some insight. :)
