    The only way to make money trucking today is to keep your living expenses very low and invest your earning wisely. I drove several years ago and enjoyed seeing the country. I learned a lot while driving. My wife and I will be hitting the road together in about 4-6 months from now. We are selling everything we don't need and putting everything else in storage. We own a travel trailer and will be staying in that during our home time. The Rv spot costs $360 a month + electric. During our first year driving, we will pay off all our debt and save towards putting a down payment on a house that we plan to rent out. We hope to be able to have at least 4 rental properties after 10 years of driving. The money we make from the rentals will fund our retirement. That is our plan for the moment anyways.

    I appreciate your posting yhis video !
    where you talk about belonging to a union to get decent wages and all of the politics
    The solution is to eliminate ( AT WILL EMPLOYMENT )
    no more of the employer making up the rules as they go
    All employment must have a an agreement with signed contract
    No more need for unions = No union dues/politics

    you really work more than 14 hours a day because you can't log the time you spend off duty etc which you spend 24/7 in that truck with generally no overtime, no detention if you are an OTR driver. Over the road truck driver was classified in such a way by the government so companies don't have to pay fair wages.

    Please... Don't drive for less than $0.50 that's the only way. If nobody will drive for less than $0.50/mile as a company driver, that will be the floor on what they will pay.

    Let me tell you something about big companies. THEY HAVE LOADS!!! You don't sit. Mom and Pop have 3 trucks and 3 costumers.

    • @marshallmotorfreight9547
      @marshallmotorfreight9547  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      bruce watson That's true, but it seems the big companies have a lower rate per mile. While a small company may have 3 customers, they may pay you a better rate per mile plus other bonuses. So it might just balance out in the end.

      TruckingwithJohnD Yeah, I've been with both. I just dislike the way mega carriers treat drivers. That's why they don't last.

      If you lucky 1600 loaded & 400 empty, WERNER & CR England pay .11 cent empty & .21 Loaded or England lease .70 cent ld. in a 1 trip with Werner was 850 miles empty &The fkn gay of mi fleet manager TIM say you have to weit 2 or 3 days to get another load

      Francisco, stop driving for companies like Werner, England, Swift, CRST and Schneider. Every single one of those companies pay horrible, hire under qualified fleet/asset managers which treat you like a number. If you have over 6 months over the road there are plenty of middle sized fleets that pay mid forty cpm which keep your miles in the 2500-3000 a week. With most mid sized fleets the managers know you and work with you rather than you just being meat in the seat. I myself work for Crete Carrier seasonal which they're okay with since they work with their drivers. Pay is 47-53 as long as you have +1yxp. My miles average 2800-3200 since Crete works closely with shippers and receivers to get you in and out quickly. Also, they run us on recap, so you almost never sit for a 34.
      The point being is do your research, find something that works for you and strive for that. Keep positive, healthy and that makes you wealthy.

    You don't have to work for low wages, I make,. 67 cents per mile with an average for the last 8 years of 3500 miles home every week her two to three days. I make fuel bonuses, and an extra 5 cents per odometer mile. I wouldn't drive for anything less than that. I don't ever touch the freight and the company takes care of everything.
    Oh and I a company driver on electronic logs. It's called planning.

    Excellent video. Trucking companies know they are not dealing with educated people (no insult intended). Most people get into trucking because of lack of opportunities.

    • @seairis616
      @seairis616 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Robert Hunter Unfortunately that would be a terrible idea for a few reasons. Truckers went on strike many years ago and some drivers were killed as a result. People would wait on over passes for trucks to drive under then they would drop bricks tied to ropes so they would drive right into the brick killing the driver and in many cases other people on the road. People were not getting food in the grocery stores or in restaurants causing a mass panic. Many of the drivers that went on strike lost their jobs. As long as there is greed in this world, people will be overworked and underpaid.

    • @miguelrobb5719
      @miguelrobb5719 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mypen Isblue I'm sure they could easily go on strike again. It doesnt make sense to kill people that deliver your foods lol. As for getting fired for going on strike... do u know how easy it is to find another trucking company?
