Just had a tattoo today. The artist took a photo, but told me she wouldn’t put it on her page as it was part of a leg sleeve and there was other artists work in the picture. It made sense to me. ♥️
I'm working on a leg sleeve. Super beautiful work. Artist took pics and all. Didn't post it. I don't give a shit if it's not posted or not honestly. Hell I didn't post it. Waiting for it to get done.
dude this is such a good topic! i got a 2 day session done by a well known artist and he never posted it... def made me question a couple things... makes me feel as if hes not proud of the work he did. oh well, as long as i like it is all that matters.
If I thought about it at one point (and got in my feels about it) than I know many others are feeling the same aswell and wanted to really dive into the minds of an artist to their reasoning. Honestly from the sounds of yours, it was probably a bad photo. Can’t tell you how much this stops artists
I’m literally getting tattooed right now while we are watching this. It’s very interesting to get his opinion on this subject and just watching him agreeing with you. Great video🔥
Awesome! Love to hear you’re watching me while getting tattooed and even more to hear that they’re agreeing with what I’m saying. Really made it a point to get other artist’s thoughts on this video
I was a little upset that my sleeve didn't get posted. But realized it's not my artists style that he prefers to do. So not upset about it. I have a bad ass sleeve and don't care if it's on there for other people to copy. By the way, your tattoos are amazing! Love watching your channel!
My latest tattoo was one of the best experiences I've had so far, I really vibed with the artist, we had a lot of fun and he seemed super happy with the result. It's a really simple drawing and concept and pretty small if you compare it to the works he is known for (was a gap filler) so I didn't expect him to post it at all. He did. It makes me so proud to see my little one stand out in a sea of full sleeves and extremely elaborate pieces when scrolling through his Instagram, it really is the cherry on top of the whole experience
My artist posted it the day he finished it but then he took it down a few days later. I was confused because he said it was one of his favorite pieces and the feedback on his Instagram was more positive than other tattoos he had posted from what I saw. I'm getting my full sleeve done with him so maybe he'll come around and show the whole thing being complete.
Try not to take things so personal…. Its his Instagram and his work. If he doesn’t want your tattoo on his page, then so be it move on and appreciate the service he gave you😂
This makes a lot of sense. I got a tattoo 2 weeks ago and my artist didn’t post it. Her style is using colors and my doesn’t have much color. I also think she didn’t get a good picture because she kept wiping her lenses off taking it over again. Thanks for doing this video!
Definitely makes sense. I got a nice calf piece about 2 months ago on a trip. The artist primarily specializes in large realism pieces with a lot of freedom given. The piece I wanted doesn't really allow that (despite me encouraging him to make it "his" work). In the end, it's a dope piece and he did colorize a black and grey idea which turned out amazing. Honestly it's better than the reference by a landslide with the color. He also was a guest artist at the time so I'm sure that factors into it as well, might post it later when he's at his home shop.
It happened with my last tattoo. It was a flash and at the end of the session, my tattoo artist confessed to me that she had drawn this flash quickly without thinking too much. also, it was true that her flash was not completely in her usual style. Then she tried to take a photo, but she was not happy with how the tattoo came out in the photo (the location played a big role, just above the knee). so I'm not surprised she didn't post it!
So two of my biggest reasons are reasons that you listed they are number one either the tattoo is half finished. And have finished I mean could be where some of it is just outlined and half of it shaded or whatever or it can mean that I haven't got a chance to put in the fine details that really make it pop and to do like the background and things like that. So I really don't want to post it knowing that it doesn't look as good as it will once I'm fully finished with it. Because a lot of people just see a picture and will judge the tattoo and don't even bother reading that you know it's in progress or whatever. And another reason is another one you listed where I will go back into a tattoo that I worked on previously to finish the tattoo add all the fine details touch up any shading or line work that needs to be touched up put in the white highlights you know putting in all the fine details and background work that I didn't get to on the first session. So then half of the tattoo work is healed and half is fresh so it gives a strange look to it. So I'd rather wait till it's completely healed to actually post pictures of it at that point. Another reason that I don't think I heard you list why I hesitate to post pictures every once in awhile of a tattoo is because certain tattoos will look great in person on the person's body but for one reason or another don't photograph the best. For an example I did a tattoo of a portrait on this woman's forearm and she had really slender arms and she wanted the portrait of her son a decent size. So when I did this portrait it looked great in person look just like him she loved it I love the way it came out but her arms being so slender the portrait kind of wrapped around and when you took photos it kind of gave it an odd look. You know it was just hard to get a good photo to really capture how it looked in person. I mean I guess at that point you can take a video but yeah just certain tattoos that look great in person for one reason or another don't look the best in photos. There's been very few times where I've not posted a tattoo because I didn't like the way it came out. There's one or two situations I can think of where that's happened the one situation that comes to the front of my mind is I did a tattoo on his girl's forearm again and she had some pretty serious scars on her arm from cutting when she was younger. Now these scars were not only all up and down to forearm but they were very deep in some parts and raised in other parts and it was very tough skin because of the scar tissue. Now I did a tattoo of an anchor with a banner going around it and some script I can't remember exactly what the script said but I told her before we ever put the stencil on before we ever even agreed on what she wanted or whatever that it was going to be a challenge tattooing on that kind of scar tissue and that you know it's kind of unpredictable how certain things are going to come out especially line work trying to keep straight lines on you know extremely raised and bumpy tough skin like that. So after I did the tattoo it didn't look terrible it looked pretty good actually for going over that type of scarring but it wasn't one of my best tattoos as far as line work just because of the challenges with the score so I wasn't in any rush to post something that didn't show off the most crisp line work. Even though there was a good reason why and even though we both went into it knowing what it was you know a lot of times people just look at a picture and judge so Edit: also I'm sitting here thinking about it as I'm watching a video and I want to add this. So in the tattoo industry everyone wants to pretend like every tattoo is going to come out perfectly the skin is going to accept the ink perfectly you're going to have no troubles doing the tattoo and if you do have any problems or you run into any issues then that automatically makes you a bad artist. That's just not true and even the top guys that you can name any of them run into the same issues. Now I might not be every tattoo it might not be every time but it happens you know professional artists don't want to talk about it or certainly don't want to post a picture. Now I'm not talking about if you mess the tattoo up if you do crooked shaky lines or you dig the skin out shading it and you tear the skin off and things like that. What I'm talking about is sometimes with certain clients depending on the location of the tattoo or depending on how their skin is depending on a lot of factors that sometimes it's going to be harder to get the result you want than others. So sometimes you're going to cause a little bit more damage to the skin than you'd like you're going to irritate it a little more than you'd like. It doesn't mean you're tearing the skin up it doesn't mean you're scaring it or anything like that but sometimes there's a little more irritation than others sometimes you run into trouble with certain clients or certain kinds of tattoos maybe they're really large scale.. whatever the case may be but sometimes you irritate the skin more than you'd like I find sometimes with certain skin types or certain areas of skin being around like the knees or elbows or sometimes around like the web on your fingers when your hand things like that that I will get a little more irritation when it especially when I'm doing like like gray wash. So that's another reason I wouldn't want to post an immediate picture of the tattoo the tattoo might look great but it's a little more irritated than I'd like. In these situations 99 out of 100 times it'll heal perfectly and it'll look great once all is said and done and it's healed up but if you take a picture right after you do it there's a little more redness than I'd like. And a lot of artists don't want to talk about that but it happens. I think the only person I've heard talk about it was Robert foe has talked about it a few times that sometimes doing large scale pieces or just for certain clients that he's had a similar situation where he's irritated this game more than he wanted because it he was having problems getting the ink to sit in the skin like he wanted it wasn't taking the ink like he anticipated. Actually now that I'm thinking about it I remember he made a video where he did this eight day bodysuit on his apprentice and he was even talking about from day to day it would be different on the same woman on her back around the same spots that one day he would be doing the same type of shading like you know real like gray scale gray wash it will be working perfectly just like he wanted and other days he would be doing the same type of shading in a similar area and he was just having a tough time getting it to sit in the skin like you wanted and he was irritating skin more than he would have liked. I mean it happens to the best artist in the world it doesn't mean they're destroying the skin it doesn't mean they are bad artists of course these are the greatest artists in the world but it doesn't mean they don't know what they're doing or anything like that it's just that's a reality when you're working on living human tissue there's a lot of variables. From swelling to skin type to even medications they might be taking that's in their blood or drugs are taking or whatever there's just 1,000 variables and go into it. So I know I'm making a long ass comment but I just thought I should add that
This makes sense! My tattoos are always made in collaboration with the artist, but the ones I’ve gone to don’t tend to take pics. Now mine you, I only have 6 tattoos and it’s all to form a sleeve (which is almost done). It’s all different artist, so for mine, it makes sense to me
Thank you for posting this. I found it helpful and explained a lot!! There had been times, when it wasn't posted, I thought it wasn't good enough (artist didn't like their work) and it was shit. I've been getting tattooed for many years now and don't feel this way anymore. If the artist doesn't want to, it's totally ok. I get tattooed for me and that's all that matters.... cheers
I was just thinking about this. lol My last tattoo didn't get posted by my artist, and it did make me sad to be honest. However, my 4 got posted but I was just wondering why my newest one didn't make the cut.
This happened to me as well. My sister went to the same artist asking for the same as mine and she told her no because that tattoo was very personal to her client (me). Once my sister explained that we were sisters and she agreed to do a desert instead of mountain scene in the paw prints
I had my artist replicate a older artwork done by a Facebook artist. It seems to be publicly accessible and looks amazing on me, like a lace half-sleeve. He didn’t photocopy-and-stencil it, he sketched the stencil by hand, no trace work. After It started healing I wasn’t super happy with the mutedness of the colored portions at first, then when I was getting a touch up on the underside of my forearm he started touching up the painting as well. That was when I realized that he was as unhappy with the color as I was. He plans on doing better shots of it soon. I’m going to pull out a sari and do a full makeup job. He’s going to henna my hand to match. I love it when great minds think alike!
Mine never got postet but I also don't get tattoos so I can see the instagram likes or tell the word how amazing i look but rather because I like my tattoos for me personally. people are so full of themselve, always seeking strangers online for approval
dude… i was at peace w/ this, after my old artist never posted mine back in october but gawd damn this vid got me worked up again over it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 i have my own theories why she didn’t but not worth stressin myself over it again.
One of my tattoos the artist posted and the most recent one he hasn't yet. He has used the first tattoo in several promotional things like when he's doing a guest spot. That for me feels so good that it doesn't matter if he posts anything else since he's used that first image half a dozen different times. He also has a good habit of putting everything on his story as he progresses throughout the day of doing the tattoo so it also still gets it's time to shine there and the post is a bonus.
Yes. I have totally had this happen to me. I was wondering if maybe I was a old lady whose photo he didn't want to put on his page. I have no idea. Maybe I have too many freckles?
I have had tattoos posted and I have had ones that were not. All great pieces but it is up to the artist on what they feel represents their best for what is basically their portfolio.
I only have two from my current artist but he has posted both. The main reason is because he does a lot of black and gray work and both of mine have been full color pieces. He's been an artist for 8 years but only recently started his own shop and has been in business for a year. Trying to showcase as much of his talent as possible without boring people with just his black and gray work.
My artist didn’t post my sleeve at all for about a year until it was finished and i never asked why because he told me he doesn’t normally do the style i wanted to but he was up for the task (he killed it btw) so i just figured that’s why he ain’t post it but nope, he posted it once the sleeve was all finished.
Just got tattooed yesterday and the artist took so long to take the pics and end up not posting it. It made me feel bad a bit. Not sure if he made some mistakes or just not his style. But on the other side atleast no one can copy it and im happy with the result.
Yeah, got my sleeve worked on and it's about 70% done. Maybe that's why? Although he has posted work he did that isn't done yet. I think it's awesome and a good reflection of his work.
I got a new tattoo a few days ago which is unfinished, it is going to take another 10 hours (already sat 10 hours), my artist posted it and just labelled it 'work in progress.' It is definitely the most detailed and the biggest tattoo I've had and she is really talented so I cannot wait for the end result! I am also her first UK client as she has come to the UK from the Philipines :)
First of mine was never posted, the second went on the artist's Web page but not IG. Always wondered if I'd been a bad client. Most recent one went up on IG immediately and it felt so much better.
i'm going to make a tattoo in the next weeks that i may not post. i'm thinking about it a lot these days. the guy picked a design from my flash, but he wanted to change it a little bit so now it sounds a little bit more sexualized, and i think i don't feel like posting it afterwards. it will be fun to make the tattoo, but i just don't want to be that guy on ig haha
YES, my koi fish tattoo in ying & yang firm never got posted by the artist. How did I feel not seeing it 3 months later? I felt he didn't do a good enough job, therefore didn't want to post it for all to see??? THEN, Istarted to look closely looking for "flaws" in the tattoo...AND I did see "flaws" and told myself: "no wonder he didn't post it. I see this, see that, etc, etc". I found flaws that really wasn't too bad and few spots WERE terrible from a professional tatto artist who OWNED that shop.😮
My artist didn't post our 1st session as it wasn't finished at all, but so far evey sessions on his insta and looking so fire wanna try get it all done next session
I've had 3 done by the same artist and I noticed he posts most of them as shorts and not many on his page. He does stencil/halfway and finished shorts nearly every day while his main page might get a post once a month.
Mine wasn’t posted for a couple reasons: 1) It’s not complete yet but the half sleeve looked amazing freshly done and still looked great prior to my second session to continue up my arm from elbow to shoulder. I still need to go for a final session to complete. 2) Artist and myself agreed it’s too good to advertise it to possibly be copied and done by a different artist. I must say it’s a good feeling for my artist to say, “you now have the best bio-mechanical tattoo he’s aware of in the world”. Coming from an artist who’s appeared in many tattoo magazines and has won many awards, I’d say getting that kind of feedback I’m very blessed.
@@justinkd hey there Justin! Thanks for the reply! Want to add that I loved the idea for this video, you really stand out in the smattering of tattoo content you tubers!
Hello! Tattoo artist Tim Luijten here. The reason why i do not post some stuff if because my style is very specific. I am also doing so much of a certain character design style i do that sometimes i just don’t feel like posting. But because i am getting better at my style i can not really post older pictures. Even though i was happy with the tattoo i did
My first tattoo was posted by the artist, however when he switched shops he removed it. I get it, more than likely remove it and others to showcase the work he wanted to do verses what are more client wants, just didn't sit right with me though. My current artist though, posted and pinned the last one he did for me as an example of what he wants to do more of style wise which gives you that warm fuzzy feeling along with the recognition when someone sees it while out and about.
I could totally understand their reasons. I also got a tattoo that was my own design actually, and they didn't post it. It didn't bother me, it made sense and it wasn't their preferred style, but I am happy with it and that's all that matters to me.
Make sense. Out of all my tattoos, only two artists took a picture of their artwork to showcase. I'm going to go back to the same artist who did my last tattoo for a blackout tattoo. I don't know if she's going to add a little something something to it in this session coming up or not. Either way I can not wait to get inked again.
Happened to me, but I know why so didn't even think about it. I'm friends with the guy who did mine. He's amazing and I told him I didn't want to ask him because it's not his style. He said he will do any style for friends. Mine are cartoony and I love them. His work is mostly black and gray. Ironically people always mention how amazing the color is on these.
Now usually I would've said I don't care if an artist doesn't post my tattoo but when you said as one of the reasons "its because they don't like the output OR they fucked it in some way" fucked it in some way < I'm on high alert from now. I will remember this.
all my tattoos look good and only some were posted some he took videos to keep and some weren't but i never felt some type of way if they were posted or not all my art work is good and people always say its dope
Thank you for this. I got an embroidery tattoo. I was overthinking the whole thing. Because I brought snacks to the artist gave 100 tip (it cost 1000 in total) I talk a lot because it helps distract my mind with the pain. I thought something was wrong with me or the tattoo.
I was so offended when my artist didn’t post my tattoo , it made me feel like they didn’t really like it or didn’t think it was good enough to be shown in their profile especially because they were a high class ink master contestant :( but as long as I liked it I think that’s all that matters.
I got a religious tattoo which I am 99.9% sure has not been replicated anywhere as it was a personal design in conjunction with my Artist. Artist even told me to pop back so he can take a picture. It started flaking so we postponed the photo. When it was healed, I popped in to speak to him and he said it had healed etc...but he didn't even take a picture. In my head I am thinking wth?!! What's changed? Tattoo looks very good!
My current tattoo I'm getting done I don't expect my artist to post. Not because it's not good. It's just my artist doesn't have much posted when it comes to Japanese style tattoo's and the 2 he does have posted are both Koi fish. Mine is a half sleeve with the rising sun, Kitsune mask, Samurai mask and helm and a dragon on a background of clouds and wind bars. The layout was my choosing though he had the go ahead to change the "look" or any parts to make them work better to him. For example he made the rising sun larger and gave the dragon larger/longer horns and thicker mane. He also gave the Samurai mask a stronger jaw line and glowing type eyes. Colors again were his choice with the exception of the Kitsune mask that I wanted the eye's, mouth and other features done in red. So while he had some artistic freedom in it, it wasn't entirely his design. Aside from that there is also the breakup of summer in getting it done. I'm super busy during the summer and while I only need about another 2 hours for it to be finished, it won't happen until snow starts hitting the ground again. Since tattoo's heal better with less sun exposure anyways, I'd rather wait. Then there is my age. I'm in my 50's and the amount of "bruising" I get, well old people problems. He will want to wait for about a week for the bruising to fade before taking pics at the very least. Probably until fully healed unless he does a bunch of touch-up on the whole thing, which he might (may turn that 2 hours in to 4 lol). Either way, getting pics will be fun. Thankfully I've been to his home for a barbecue before so it's not like we've never interacted out side his shop. Still though, just based of it not being something he does a lot of makes me think it probably won't get posted. And you know what? I'm okay with that. I've already got so many compliments on it unfinished as it is (only needs the coloring in the clouds finished along the back side of my arm).
Yeah gotta say kinda took this a little personal, first two sessions were posted and looked great! Third one, nothing which made me be over critical where i actually began thinking that it just wasn’t that great. I was really open minded allowing the artist to choose a design that went with my chosen theme which admittedly was very different from everything he does, but i was flexible allowing his style an approach. Maybe because the hole sleeve isn’t finished yet! 🤔
True I think cover ups really shouldn’t be posted for the reason about covering up someone else’s work he did ask if he could take a pic for himself to keep I didn’t mind it and about the posting tattoos should never leave you feeling any type of way these tattoos are made for us not for others you can always post it yourself 🤘🏽
My artist told me he doesn’t like to post small tattoos because it’s not good for his business if all these people wanna book in an hour long (or less) tattoo because it takes him half an hour before and after each person to set up and clean up. So a lot of time tattooing is lost and the profits are less for him. I asked if one person asking for 10 small tattoos is annoying and he said no that’s fine. Was interesting to learn :)
My first tattoo didn't get posted. But the artist doesn't post all of his work anyway and mine was kinda basic/not exciting. After that, the artists have been posting my tattoos (either fresh or post-touch-up). The artist did like my post though when I posted a pic of my first tattoo and thanked him for it. And I always comment and like when an artist posts a tattoo they did for me.
This explains a lot. One of my tattoos was posted by my artist, but he took it down shortly after. I realise now that, A - it was my own design that he adapted. I drew it up and sent him it to change into his style. And B - it was a combination of my family crests, very personal. I get why that may have been uncomfortable to keep online. I’m not bothered either way though, it was a fantastic job!
This video helped me. I had an awesome chest piece done that my artist , to me, seemed to really enjoy doing. He never posted it though. However, he also said while taking them pics he wasn't happy with the pics. Either way I know my chest piece rocks.
Mine posted one and then took it down because the pictures you could still see the my blood on the piece and she didn’t want it being taken down by IG I went to see her to get another piece down and everyone at the shop loves it she just didn’t get good pictures.
For me it's probably because we somehow ended up using color and my artist does most of his work in B/G, so it doesn't realy fit the niche they are focused on. got a story feature though.
One artist posted and the other did not...for the artist that did not post I am not sure why he didn't but it made me wonder why? Even though I wish he had gone just a slight bit smaller I am still happy with the tattoo overall
This is what I love about my tattoo artist. He’s an old school dude and we’ve been homies since 2009. He doesn’t have social media and doesn’t use it. His clients are people he’s been working on for years or ones who got the head nod from one of his clients and he’ll take them on as a new client. Makes me not have to worry why he’s picking and choosing other people’s work 😂 But if I had a more social media focused artist I wouldn’t take it personal. If you walk out happy with the piece, why would your artist posting it or not posting change how you feel about it. If you thought it was dope prior to it not being posted then it’s probably dope, so it shouldn’t change your perspective
I have 14 tattoo's. I've had 3 of them posted, one of which was 5 months ago. I understand that the ones posted were in the artist's preferred style or styles/imagery that I was the first person to request... and the ones that weren't posted was bc they were too generic, & im okay with that. I'm just happy to have 3 tattoos that were deemed unique enough to be posted by my artist. I have ideas for upcoming tattoos that I'm looking forward to..
Yeah but it’s still a feeling of “I didn’t make the cut” or “maybe it’s not to your standards” having a tattoo posted is just like a cherry ontop of the whole experience
Yes, it was close to closing when he finished and he didn’t have time to take a picture. I felt bad for him because he did an amazing job so I left a review of the shop with a picture attached and the artist’s name. Idk if he noticed, though.
id say the top reasons i dont post my clients tattoos is im so exhausted i forgot to get a photo, or i get home and im too tired/forget to post. but all of these reasons are things that keep tattooers from posting.
also barring it being in a bikini area or something like that, im gonna post your shit if i want to. if i spent 7 hours for you and take 7 minutes to get a photo of my work, im going to post it up. but it also goes over this in our consent form that a photo will be taken and we can do whatever we want with it. ive had little infinity signs on the wrist be like "oh no photos please" but that covers our asses and also promotes us. again if its like in the pubic area/ bra area/ butt area im not going to want to post it cause i dont want my socials viewed as the guy who takes pics of girls butts to get buisness but if they are self harm scars, scars from an accident or something else like that, im going to post it to let others know i can cover their scars as well. i wont tag the client but yeah. that one always grinds my gears.
As an artist, sometimes I dont post pictures because of welting. It's really hard to get photos of a welted tattoo especially in a walk-in shop. Not really an excuse not to take the effort but sometimes its tough to manage time in that way.
My artist posted mines on his story, I don’t know if I should take that as it wasn’t good enough for him to keep on his page or be grateful it was on his story haha
My girl got a beautiful piece done on her back and was in her feels that it wasn't posted. I gotta say I'm surprised that specific artist didn't post it because he posts lower quality stuff but I tried to explain that he may wanna stop advertising girl heads maybes he's tired. The not good photo is probably what it was though (not to sound like how dare you not post it) she has really white skin and it's sensitive, plus he took a long time to do it so I think the redness is what prevented him. At first I would get in my head if mine weren't posted, but now I've had quite a few posted and by reputable artists that I could care less
None of my tattoos have gotten posted on my tattooer's IG which is fine I don't think it's the style she usually does and mine have been taking a few sessions lately too so it's in that half and half space as well
My most recent piece My artist finished up and put some anti inflammation and he took a video and showed me after but then mentioned it was kinda blurry and hasn't posted. I'm wondering if it was because he didn't like the video?
I always ask my artist to not post any of my tattoos because they are my own ideas or artwork, I never take a picture of someone else's artwork and ask for it to be done and I don't want anyone to do that with my tattoo.
I got a forearm tat recently and my artist didn’t post it, but I’ve seen him post less impressive/ not so cool tats. But I still don’t take offense to it
Fun fact: of all my tattoos, the one I've had posted on the artists IG was an overdone one- it was a trad rose. To be fair, she loves doing roses and isn't sick of them at all despite how popular she is in the area. Still ironic though.
Got a design drawn on me by someone famous with a felt marker, the tattoo artist didn't post it at the time because they didn't know the person and couldn't chase clout, they have retroactively decided it was cool as the persons celebrity rose, I hate tattoo artists in general.
Both of my current tattoos were walk-ins and pretty small/basic, so they didn't even photographed. (It was fine, I just took the pics myself to share with friends)
The last tatoo i got my 3rd its about my football club so he told me from the begining that he will not post it cuz he dnt want to give the image of the fan of the club (so i completly understood it) The other 2 tats i done was both posted
Its happened to me, but 1. It was a memorial tattoo, so i can appreciate the privacy 2. My skin is hella sensitive and swells up like puffy stickers and get super red, doesnt make for good pictures
Nice to see you got Reyes on I also seen you watchin Shine on live I'm an artist in Ottawa myself n it's cool to see the appreciation of the art that you have. U rly embrace the culture
I personally think that all tattoos that the artist does should have to go in their portfolio. I get not posting them online but every piece done should be in their portfolio so we can actually see what theyre good at. This whole picking and choosing whats best is bs, If they mess up we should be able to see that
I'm an artist myself. And the reason I don't always post some Tattoos is because the client chooses to alter the design after completion of the tattoo, choosing to add a name or a wierd symbol which alters the initial design and throwing off your whole Tattoo after spending hours on it. Then you just don't post it because it's not going to fit the aesthetic of your wall

Wouldn't they want to post it to show people thier artistic skills what they are capable off
This happened to me, and I wondered why, but this video provided clarity. I’m a half healed half fresh tattoo situation
This has happened to me for my most recent tattoo. I'm glad it wasn't posted because I don't want anyone copying the idea.
That’s good, some people (and like the guy in used as an example in the video) rather keep it to themselves so it’s not copied as much
Mine made it his profile pic and literally the next month he did one that was almost a copy of mine hahahaha
Same here, I pretty much designed mine.
Just had a tattoo today. The artist took a photo, but told me she wouldn’t put it on her page as it was part of a leg sleeve and there was other artists work in the picture. It made sense to me. ♥️
Glad to hear my point that no other artist mentioned still makes sense and is a valid point 🙋🏼♀️🙋🏼♀️
Bro I just got my tattoo yesterday and i was wondering this but then remember he told his co worker that he did 9 tattoos that same day
I’m literally getting tattooed right now while we are watching this.
I'm getting my full sleeve done with him so maybe he'll come around and show the whole thing being complete.
same thing happened to me..
Try not to take things so personal…. Its his Instagram and his work. If he doesn’t want your tattoo on his page, then so be it move on and appreciate the service he gave you😂
@@jessundead i’m living life it’s not a big deal just sharing my experience from last year haha
@@Jayhawkfinance lol right.. all u did was post your experience
@@scubaowen226 I mean I haven’t thought about it until Justin brought up the topic so to each their own i guess lol🤷♂️
This makes a lot of sense. I got a tattoo 2 weeks ago and my artist didn’t post it. Her style is using colors and my doesn’t have much color. I also think she didn’t get a good picture because she kept wiping her lenses off taking it over again. Thanks for doing this video!
Great video, I love Mr. Reyes work! Great concept
This is an amazing and unique topic man. Feel like this is someone everyone wants to know but not brought up enough
Even though there was a good reason why and even though we both went into it knowing what it was you know a lot of times people just look at a picture and judge so
Edit: also I'm sitting here thinking about it as I'm watching a video and I want to add this. So I know I'm making a long ass comment but I just thought I should add that
Yes twice and they are so beautiful.
🥲🥲🥲

The guest artist is legit !!! Great topic and video 👍
Reyes is a 🐐 and glad you enjoyed the video 👊🏼
Great vid! I had it happen to me as well!
I recently got a pair of tattoos that the artist has never posted. I love what she did. I've always wondered why she didn't post it.
Tattoo appointment today at 1PM , almost finished with my 2nd sleeve!!! Lets goooo
EYYYYYY congratulations. What’s next 😉

i'm going to make a tattoo in the next weeks that i may not post. i'm thinking about it a lot these days. the guy picked a design from my flash, but he wanted to change it a little bit so now it sounds a little bit more sexualized, and i think i don't feel like posting it afterwards. it will be fun to make the tattoo, but i just don't want to be that guy on ig haha
Mine wasn’t posted for a couple reasons:
1) It’s not complete yet but the half sleeve looked amazing freshly done and still looked great prior to my second session to continue up my arm from elbow to shoulder.
Lol! Def happened to me a lot of times especially because I tend to get smaller tattoos from artists that tend to do bigger tats
Yeup you fall under reason #2 😉
I dont post tattoos that are smaller than a palm size personally or if its incomplete or would look better with a next addition
Incredible video. Big ups to you
Thank you! Glad you liked it 🙏🏼🙏🏼
It has happened to me one my first tattoo, then my second he posted. I dont care if the artist posts it or not
Great content as always
Now usually I would've said I don't care if an artist doesn't post my tattoo but when you said as one of the reasons "its because they don't like the output OR they fucked it in some way"
fucked it in some way < I'm on high alert from now. I will remember this.
all my tattoos look good and only some were posted some he took videos to keep and some weren't but i never felt some type of way if they were posted or not all my art work is good and people always say its dope
Dope video bro and dope t shirt what’s the brand ?
I realise now that,
A - it was my own design that he adapted. I drew it up and sent him it to change into his style.
And
B - it was a combination of my family crests, very personal.
Any plans yet for your other leg ? keep up the videos mate there great.
Mine posted one and then took it down because the pictures you could still see the my blood on the piece and she didn’t want it being taken down by IG I went to see her to get another piece down and everyone at the shop loves it she just didn’t get good pictures.
That’s why I say this is the biggest culprit to tattoos not being posted. One small thing that’s off and it’s never seeing the feed
For me it's probably because we somehow ended up using color and my artist does most of his work in B/G, so it doesn't realy fit the niche they are focused on. got a story feature though.
I got a monster tatt done yesterday that filled out my shoulder and my artist said he'd post it when it's healed and looking better
Makes me not have to worry why he’s picking and choosing other people’s work 😂
But if I had a more social media focused artist I wouldn’t take it personal.
What artists work is that at 2:00
Why do people stress over this 😂 I dont get tattoos that the artist can post them 🤦🏻♂️ I get them for ME
Yeah but it’s still a feeling of “I didn’t make the cut” or “maybe it’s not to your standards” having a tattoo posted is just like a cherry ontop of the whole experience

My son and I got a tattoo the same day. Bonding experience. The artist posted his tattoo and not mine. Something my son often brings up...
None of mine have ever been posted because it always involves other tattooers work. To me it makes sense.
You’ve covered everything 😎
Tried my best! I think I might have missed one or two points but got most 👊🏼👊🏼
Where u get that cool t-shirt?
As an artist, sometimes I dont post pictures because of welting. It's really hard to get photos of a welted tattoo especially in a walk-in shop. Not really an excuse not to take the effort but sometimes its tough to manage time in that way.
Thanks Kyle for sharing your reasoning to why YOU and an artist might not post a tattoo! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Mine wasn't posted as it was utterly rubbish!
Since then had it covered up!
It's happened to me, but I honestly don't care if they post it or not at the end of the day if I'm happy with the outcome why should it matter 🤷♂️
Yes this has actually happened to me a couple of times
Got a design drawn on me by someone famous with a felt marker, the tattoo artist didn't post it at the time because they didn't know the person and couldn't chase clout, they have retroactively decided it was cool as the persons celebrity rose, I hate tattoo artists in general.
Both of my current tattoos were walk-ins and pretty small/basic, so they didn't even photographed. (It was fine, I just took the pics myself to share with friends)
My first tattoo wasn’t posted but tbh it was a basic tattoo so I think some basic tattoos don’t need to be posted
A lot of those don’t get posted and for obvious reasons 🙄💁🏼♀️
@@justinkd for sure. My appointment is at 4:30 ready to get some new ink lol 😂
The last tatoo i got my 3rd its about my football club so he told me from the begining that he will not post it cuz he dnt want to give the image of the fan of the club (so i completly understood it)
The other 2 tats i done was both posted
I tried my artist posted the pic, but deletes a few day after? Kinda confused
Yeah that’s odd but probably becuase they did t like the video / pic
Its happened to me, but
1. It was a memorial tattoo, so i can appreciate the privacy
2. My skin is hella sensitive and swells up like puffy stickers and get super red, doesnt make for good pictures
What about a tattoo artist who posted the Tattoo and then took it down later due the eye being wonky..
Nice to see you got Reyes on
I also seen you watchin Shine on live
I'm an artist in Ottawa myself n it's cool to see the appreciation of the art that you have. U rly embrace the culture
I personally think that all tattoos that the artist does should have to go in their portfolio. I get not posting them online but every piece done should be in their portfolio so we can actually see what theyre good at. This whole picking and choosing whats best is bs, If they mess up we should be able to see that
Yes I had a tattoo at the beginning of the year and they never posted it. Made me feel a bit crap to be honest
