Even on Baker Lake, I go heavier on the rod(s). Simply because as you noted, the fish are "squirrely" and you are working in a "fleet situation" with dozens of boats fishing.
Would you consider doing a video on Maxkinaw? I know you primarily focus on salmon, but looking at chasing some lake trout at Bear Lake and could use your expertise. Thanks so much for what you do for the community.
Hey I got a decent video showing how to catch Mackinaw. th-cam.com/video/P3OsQGQ6t4w/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3oKLa3WgLzsFg0XG But that’s at lake Chelan hope that helps.
I just got my riggs tied up. Orange, florescence pink, light pink. Pink/Glow hoochies with variations of plain, smile blades, and spinner blades. I’m excited. I got the 22-24 reserved for camp but I might have to sneak in a day trip or two before that.
Around 40 years ago, my Brother took me to Lake Wenatchee for some Sockeye. when we got set up there was only a single red hook on the line. No bait, no nothing but that single red hook. I asked him if this is really how we are going to spent our day, dragging around an empty hook, he said wait for it. Wasn't long before I was a believer. That was fun, no having to worry about bait or anything, just take the hook out of the fish and throw in back in the water.

Hey, Tyler. I live in Gold Beach at the mouth of the Rogue River in Oregon. Our local tackle shop promotes a salmon rig 'for the lower Rogue River'. It's much more complicated than the one(s) you have shown on your channel. Question is whether rigs really need to be 'designed' for a particular location of return. I like simplicity, but would also like to catch one. Another TH-camr has been successful with Blue Fox spinner jigs elsewhere in the state. My wife and her sister both caught nice Chinooks when we were out with a reputable guide (and friends) using a fairly complicated rig while my brother-in-law came home empty-handed. We're ready to get out there on our kayaks to see what we can do. Suggestion? Go with local or keep it simple? All the best, Tom
Tyler, I see a lot of anglers using duo locks on their leaders or before the bumper on the braid. I personally use snap swivels, but wondering if using duo locks has any advantages or specific reasons other than being a bit cheaper?
Was looking at the Bonneville dam fish counts. About 32000 fish passed today, 448014 total. How far into the run do you think we are? Love the content. Thanks for the tips.
Pateros has a decent hotel and their is a Best Western in Omak. There are also some decent hotels in Chelan as well. Otherwise AirBnb might be another option

Thanks for answering my questions. The logistics of getting out fishing are hard… so I need to do my homework to get the most out of the limited time.
Thank you once again for your time to make this video. It's very informative and helps me better prepare myself for my next fishing trip!

I caught my first Sockeye today in Tri Cities. Love the videos.
Do you actually have pheasants or is he a wild one? I used to raise jumbo ringnecks, they were alot of fun.

When you mention leader length, where are you measuring? From the beginning of the bead chain all the way to the end of the hooks, or what?
Diminutive, great word but I definitely had to google that one 😂.
Tyler how does one differentiate a large Kokanee from a small sockeye?

Change your gear up. Try different leader lengths.
Will 2/0 luhr Jensen herring dodgers that are 5 3/4" work or should I find something a little larger for this fishery?
2/0 will work fine
@@spiltmilt Silver Horde makes a #0 dodger which is similar to the old Luhr Jensen size 1. Sportco carries them.

My guess is we are passed the peaked but not by much. I def feel the fish came earlier this year due to lower flows.
Any recommendations for lodging/camping in the general Brewster region? I’ve found a few motels in Omak that look fairly sketchy

I was kidding. People used to say that if you spray wd-40 on your lures and flashers youd catch more fish.
