    I was born in Brewster so, at age 69, I'm headed back there in August to fish. Wish me luck. Great vid.

    What I absolutely love about your videos is that I'm down here in Tri-Cities fishing almost the same exact water at the same time for the same fish. So, thank you! Very helpful! The Salmon nuts down here anchor for them, but only a few people seem to have it dialed in.

      Yeah flossing seems to be the preferred technique in Alaska river systems. Here we plunk small spin-n-glos with shrimp on river systems and do well

      I haven’t. It’s a long drive and hard to justify when I have the exact same fish literally in my backyard. It’s a beautiful lake though

    Went to Brewster pool with my wife in our boat 7/28, 29 & 30. Fished Friday night after we arrived, Saturday for 6 hours and Sunday morning for 4 hours before heading home to Spokane. Started with pink hoochies, spinners, 4 oz. cannon balls and the flashers/dodgers you use as well. Brined shrimp and 3 different scents in shrimp, tuna and the addicted gel. Tried different amounts of line out. Admittedly, 1 rod already had leaded line so I added 2 oz and used that out the back of the boat. Anywhere from 20-35 on the line counter, 3 poles fishing as slow as action would allow. We vary speeds as we speed up and come back down as well as turn often. You would see fish getting caught on the 100 boat fleet every now and then but nothing hectic. I had noticed the fish numbers over the dam have decreased and all fisherman/women were talking about how it had slowed down. It was dead fishing. Hot, weedy water, smokey, bugs (those little flyies!!!) and the smell of Sh*t on the air from farmers made it interesting. I remember what you said about trusting your electronics. Through Friday and Saturday we had one small Sockeye landed. We had been marking fish from 7-20 ft. but the majority, shallow 7-15 ft. Sunday I switched up things and put on a new flasher bought at the Ace Hardware down the road which was a small triangle (Brad's) Kokanee flasher in Moon Jelly. I tuned it for action and we started fishing with 1 oz of lead and running much shallower. 5 strikes and 2 hook ups that were lost at the boat before landing in the net. I wish I had listened to my instincts sooner and thrown away that silly ass 4 oz ball earlier. The answer ended up being more line, less weight and shallower fishing. Stayed just outside the fleet and putting on smaller Kokanee gear was the answer for more bites. The one fish we caught was on the pole with leaded line. Small Sockeye estimated at 2 lbs. If my math is correct between Hotel, gas, food and gear expense that was a very tasty $736.00 per lb. Sockeye. Thats why they call it fishing and not catching!! Hoping to do better at the end of September when we go to Garibaldi for the Quadfecta in Tillamook Bay. Chinook, Clams, Crabs and Rockfish. Fish On!!

    It’s crazy to me how consistent that snack bite is on all your videos. Maybe the kokes smell good in the air… love the videos thanks for educating all of us on the elusive Kokanee. It’s helped the learning curve a ton. I’m headed out to Strawberry this weekend to hopefully catch a few but the bite down here in Utah has been weird this year with snowpack and weather.

      That is the goal of the program. 100k to return annually. An amazing river fishery, an amazing baker lake fishery, and then also have a good tribal fishery that is sustainable since we are loading the hatchery up beforehand. All parties happy with fish.

      @daringarner3194 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spiltmilt Thanks for the reply. Ultimately I would like all of it…however I do enjoy the exercise from the pedal drive 😂 so I am mainly interested in spot lock and some trolling. I live in SE Idaho and around here I mainly fish shorelines for Smallmouth but would love to troll for some walleye with both cranks and harnesses. I would also like to have the ability to fish the Columbia and Snake for Sturgeon without anchoring if that’s a possibility. Cost isn’t really an issue…I just am so overwhelmed and you definitely know what’s going on with all of these things.

    How do you think the Sockeye numbers will be compared to last year when the Sockeyes were at near records at Brewster Pool. You mentioned they were bigger than normal this year. Why do you think that is? Less fish, more food to go around? How long will Brewster Pool provide good fishing. We drove up from Central California last year later in July during that super hot spell 106-110 degrees (too hot!)

    • @spiltmilt
      @spiltmilt  ปีที่แล้ว

      Obviously they are lower because this is not a record year. They are probably bigger because of lower fish densities and/or better ocean conditions. Fish is good here typically thru mid to late August but fish quality declines by Aug 10.
