As someone who had a weird fascination on the outsider in the first game I was very confused by his voice, for it is quite different. But over the course of the game it grew on me, didn't feel so strange. I still love the first games voice for him, but I also like this outsiders mannerisms. He moves more and seems more open to you. So there's good and bad
Comparing the 2 voices, personally I noticed a few diifferences. In the first, the way he spoke expressed him as absolute, one who knows it all, who can't be reasoned or bargained with because he is in fact, above all. There was little to read from that godly tone when he narrated the current our progress and what he showed, well, we had already been and seen. I think it was so because the game makers didn't expect to make a second game at the time so we were left to believe that he was a god, always has been and will be, no point digging for this origin. In the second game, he almost sounded human. Like there was more he wanted to tell us, or just wanted to have something done for him. He also showed us things we didn't know of along our way and most importantly, his origin. He didn't sound so absolute as in the first game which pretty much snuffed all hopes for revealable mysteries. I never thought of knowing more about him in the first game, but in the later istallment, he felt more open to me, almost inviting me to question him.
I like it how they made the Outsider in the sequel. He walks with you, touches you, seems frendlier... in the first game he just stood there and spat void philosophy at you. And he looks better too now. He kinda lost the edgy emo kid look.
I like that he interacts more, but I would argue that he’s _picked up_ the edgy emo kid look. His old aesthetic fit the theme more. If the intention was too draw a disparity between the fancy looks of the Outsider and the poorer conditions we see in the game, then it was done well, but I liked his ratty winter coat a lot more.
This kind of raises questions regarding how the next game will end. "The Death of the Outsider," with Billy planning to slay him using a combination of void magic and the very blade that cut the throat of the boy who became a god. However, he is just a manifestation of the Void, and can't be the first. Assuming Daud and Billy manage to kill the Outsider, will another person just be sacrificed to take his place? And do we really want that? The Outsider portrays himself as this distant, all-knowing, all-powerful figure, who doesn't care what happens so long as it entertains him. But here, and with Corvo and Emily, we see a stronger connection. He actually cares about the world, and keeps giving us the power to right it. Even Daud, who gained power but used it for evil, eventually managed to do good when he saved Emily from Delilah.

Well if the only way to kill Delilah is to force her spirit back into her body ( making her mortal) then it stands to reason that maybe the blade is a vessel for the outsiders soul, or is a key to unlocking the "safe" for lack of better term to his soul making him mortal and thus killable.

"Her wit and cunning are second to none" And yet, Delilah never actually shows how she *is* cunning, witty, or charismatic. She's just 'Grr, look at me I'm a mean bitch!' type of character. i think its more established from the dishonored 1 dlc, as well how she convinced and manipulated people to achieve her own goal of overthrowing emily, not to mention coming back from the void and rendering herself immortal. she also learns about your deeds in karnaca and tries to stop you with her witches ambushing you at a few parts in the game. i guess it shows that she's already proven her wit and cunning rather than doing so during the game, and her bitchy attitude is kinda understandable since emily/corvo have deep ties and with jessamine, so she's going to be a real prick. i do agree though it would've been nice to see a bit more from her.
@@begformiuiruma257 Too bad that wasn't adequately written in the games. OK, she's the half sister of Jessamine and is, by all counts, and heir to the throne albeit an illegitimate one. She wanted to possess Emily to get direct access to it and when that fails she wants to imprison her forever. Fine. But no real effort was put into that in the DLC. We only *just* saw it in the second game.
So in four thousand years, they never advanced their fashion sense? Why does the Outsider's original form have a 'modern' style vest in the style of the current year that the game takes place?
I mean fashion can change and come around again many times in four thousand years, the Outsider's clothes are covered in blood, dirt and tears, it's also possible he stole his clothes when he was alive from someone else.
people don’t like how the outsiders origin was explaining this game. I don’t think his origin story is that underwhelming. A cult took in some kid from the street, bathed them, fed him, dressed him, and sacrificed him to the void.
The former voice actor for the outsider didn't need the audio effect to make him sound alien. To create the impression that he is "outside". The former didn't have any of that, and still created this old, painful, suffer and inhuman vibe simply because of the way he talks. Every detail was so aligned that it created this perfect persona that still stucked on me since 2013. Listening to this guy makes me roll my eyes behind my skull and watch Silicon Valley and skip to Gilfoyle funny moments instead.
thats a really good point! 1st outsider felt very mysterious and actually godlike. his words and the way he said them kinda compelled me to listen, like he really has something important to say. not that the new one doesnt.
Except this one is better because he’s sounds not just good but it fits the fact that he cannot change his form and still sounds the way he did when he died which is a 15 year old kid the other sounded great but too grown of a man and though the outsider is a man technically his body not being able to change to match age according to one of the games creators then he should sound like a young kid so this fits lore better
The problem with that is that the outsider seems human and holds to a human like appearance. One can argue that he’s some form of god that prefers to take on a human shape, but nothing suggests that he is a shapeshifter. If his form is almost exclusively human, then that suggests that he himself must have had some form of human beginning, hence he can’t be some kind of god with no beginning
It’s more interesting and unique and gives out so much more mystery and unanswered questions that make the game more interesting if it’s as simple as he’s a god the end it’s boring and typical as hell
Technically he’s old but his can not change his form so he’s technically still sounds like the way he did when he was killed which was a 15 year old kid so yea this voice is better that’s probably why they changed it plus the emo look fits perfect he’s is the avatar of the void and the void itself he’s should look something like that it’s perfect combo
Just one quick question: How strong is the outsider? i mean from 0:15 after Corvo falls into the void he catch a fully grown man with one hand grip and is only thing that prevents Corvo falling into big-black-nothingness void. He has a small smile on his face that say "If I really wanted to I could just let you go...You don't want to die. Then please let me help your daughter Emily."
He is literally a godlike being attached to a entire dimension which time has no meaning and humans fail to understand what’s going on half the time, give you supernatural power and magic so you can play with your opponents as if was ping pong, and you are surprised that he can catch a grown man with one hand?
I mean we are bound to know eventually the story of everything in the game so it would lose mystery eventually something can’t be a mystery forever plus he’s still mysterious even with the dlc cause there are so many unanswered secrets surrounding him they do such a great job with doing things like that in this game
Gotham0 AJ "His reddit username is TrannyDestroyer, let's nail him to a cross even though if you actually listen to his explanation you'll realize he didn't mean any harm, and eventually stopped using that reddit account altogether!"
What does this mean? It wasn't twitter. Billy Lush doesn't have a twitter as far as I know, He was very unprofessional and said they never called him back, when the story Arkane gave was that his schedule was busy. He was probably lying, Also he was really rude about it on Reddit. Very childish and unprofessional. Said he wouldn't even play the second game bc of the new guy.
Michelle You're jumping to all these irrational conclusions based solely on his username. How do you know he was lying? You don't. He didn't have any reason to lie. In fact, a quick search on IMDb and Wikipedia reveals that he worked on barely any projects during 2015-2016, and almost all of those were on TV shows for about one episode. They even got him to voice the first trailer for Dishonored 2 - why would he agree to that if he was going to be too busy to voice the rest of the game? He's not some big name actor working on dozens of projects. You say he was rude... I read his posts. He came across as a bit ignorant. I don't remember reading about him refusing to play the second game, but even if that's true.... so what? A company threw him out of a role that he enjoyed without an explanation. He has every right to be angry - Arkane is the one that acted unprofessionally. If a company screwed me over like that, I wouldn't want to buy their product either. The reason why he kept using his username all those years was because he never encountered anyone who was seriously offended by it up until that point. Also, you can't change a reddit username. And believe it or not, some people are sentimental, and they do get attached to their usernames, even if those usernames are stupid. But in the end, he did decide to stop using the account and create a new one. So there's that.
Why creators of Dishonored 2 want to destroy univers of Dishonored 1? The Void was a intresting place not a dark like there , The Outsider was ethernal and why they want to kill him?
I disagree, I think the first game set up a lot in terms of lore, but the 2nd one kind of ruined it. Like boom, the outsider is now human again? I figured a character like his would last 5 sequels. And the voice actor change wasn't a really good move.
oh come on, that could be said about every game that expands upon what the previous game has created. you are only disappointed that your expectations weren't met, that's hardly the game developers fault. the lore is still interesting and the void...well just try to think of a reason WHY it looks so different... what do you think? one reason is directly told here in the video. The Outsider has been corrupted by Delilah, which also impacts on the Void because, well he is the void god. That's why the place has become so dark and weird... because of Delilah's darkness.
Your a dumbass there is more lore in dishonored than fallout and I play both hardcore and am a fan of both but i guess someone who does not care about the games lore would say some shit like that and yea they do care I dont see why this guy even says that because the void is still exactly that and we know nothing yet or all the secrets I the game that are unanswered and left in pure mystery and same goes to the outsider they make him move and talk more and people complain about things that still remain the same it would be dumb if he stayed doing barely nothing like in the first game people will obviously want to learn more
I want more dishonored! I won't buy the death of the outsider dlc standalone. However I want more dishonored series! The plot, the world, the people, the stealth, the combat, the drama, the tragity, the tragic romance between corvo and the 1st empress. The fatherly role to Emily. The fervent loyalty and dedication to his daughter and for her position as empress. Killing, ghosting, and hiding corpses to get to delilah and making her pay for what she's done to dunwall, his daughter and Karnaka (amazing name btw.) By killing her or beating her at her own game non lethal which is so satisfying. This game is not just a game, it's an experience.
You should really consider playing DOTO. It's a wonderful addition to the story we already had pieces of. Plus, you revisit some old places from Dishonored II, as well as new ones that give you a better look to what the world of Dishonored looks like. We also get to know Billie Lurk, Daud, and The Outsider on a much more personal level. It'd be a shame not to play the DLC.
Why not it’s an amazing dlc and you get to have a beautiful ending if you play non lethally it’s a very nice dlc very worth it I just wish it was longer but it’s an important part of the story if you care about it that much buy it for sure
Give a origin to the Outsider's powers was a mistake for me. That's a great character, because he's mysterious, powerful, neutral, always calm and pretty impressive with his young and fleshy appearance. Given him a origin as a simple sacrified boy is taking him lesser than the godlike figure that we can imagined...that's a great mistake, because this fix him to the nature of a human half-god, instead of a enigmatic, omnipotent and complex entity.
Why is this a bad thing? We got more answers but many more questions. Who were those robed people? Why did they choose HIM of all people? WHY did they want to create a god? DID they want to create a god in the first place? What's the Void? What's up with the whales? What does a boy do with god powers? Are there any other gods (alive)? All those things are very interesting and leave more than enough mysteries to be explored further.
Are you serious it won’t changed that he became 100 percent a god just because you know his lore that actually way more interesting and unique than the same typical crap of he a god the end and they kept so many secrets regardless that are unanswered and make it more fun I don’t see how do something like that is bad
A mystery can’t be a mystery forever and are you foreal everyone wanted to know more about him it made him even cooler knowing his story and everything he went through and became that made him more likeable rather than plain and boring you seriously want him to stay the same and continue knowing nothing at all for years playing the game and you clearly dont do lore research because he is still full of too much mystery and secrets knowing some of his past isn’t enough his past does not change who he is now and what he’s done for 4000 years I mean one of his interesting secrets is that they claim the outsider is same as the whales that alone brings up many questions
He was a boy when he got sacrificed, and the void probably aged him up when he was resurrected, but I think time either just stops or works differently in the Void, because The Outsider just looks like he got some new clothes and maybe contacts for the black eyes. Other than that, he doesn't look like he had any major changes.
Dishonored 2 ruined the lore, for me at least. The Outsider was an amazing character, a mysterious god like creature that new your future and helped people's destinies. Now he was created? And then Billie killed him?? What???
Galaxy I mean he would have been devoured by the void later anyways, and knowing his origin is just a lot more interesting considering the fact each god in this lore probably came from somewhere. It is shown in the death of the outsider that he was trapped in a prison that allowed him to be shown as a creature of immense power, but he wasn't since he was basically trapped lel
Please do research before commenting and that makes him way cooler and interesting a human became a god and there was gods before him and what did he secretly do those 4000 years did he change and alter the world based on revenge or did his mind change based on him becoming a god why was he seen as equal to the whales who are magical there is so much secrets and interesting lore that made him more mysterious now then before when he was a typical boring god who gave powers cause he was bored because yes that really was what he did he did not change destinies according to the first game he was neutral never choosing sides he let people do that still does but with more interesting lore and no Billie can choose to kill him but you can do the more interesting choice of letting him leave and making him mortal again which brings up even more hundreds of interesting questions and lore
Dishonored's Outsider: Had a cold voice and spoke to you about fate while floating just out of reach. A true mystery of a being. Perhaps the void itself arranged in a form conceivable to a man. Dishonored 2's Outsider: Walks around you like an edge lord talking like a 16 year old trying to sound cool by making his voice raspy. He tells you his entire life's story about how he was just a weak little man that got sacrificed by cultists. Dishonored's Heart: An enigma. A piece of the void that could fit in the palm of your hand that couldn't conceive the concept of "unknown". Keen players would realize that it was possibly the heart of the empress as it spoke with her voice and seemed to have an attachment to Emily. Dishonored 2's Heart: Jessamine Kaldwin literally sprouts from it...
I swear everyone here is stupid he’s literally 15 unable to change form even though he’s technically a man and his voice sounds great the other one was dead inside and annoying this one fits his lore and the fact he still 15 in form he should sound like that
And are you serious how is it bad to get origin from who he really is and nothing wrong with being weak it’s how you get strong to begin with he was poor and suffering and cultist used that to make another god to the void how is that a bad thing that is way more interesting than a god who did nothing throughout the first game but say random things and sound dead inside
And cmon obviously by then you know it’s her and she will show up again I swear your arguments are so stupid and unreasonable at least cry about something logical once you know something in a story it won’t be the same in the next game because you already know it and you clearly need to do more lore research
I was expecting actual commentary and speculation, but instead i just get the same cutscene that was given to me in the game? Your getting thousands of views from doing something that i could in a day, and thats bullshit
That's your fault for creating false expectations. I came here wanting to see a cutscene fro the game and would've been pissed if instead I got some youtube nobody talking about something i already know.

i guess it shows that she's already proven her wit and cunning rather than doing so during the game, and her bitchy attitude is kinda understandable since emily/corvo have deep ties and with jessamine, so she's going to be a real prick.
i do agree though it would've been nice to see a bit more from her.
We only *just* saw it in the second game.
play the dishonored 1 DLC SMH
@@somewhataddicted7685 I did, she was hammered in poorly.
I still want the outsider voice in dh1
I have heard this story of getting killed but instead of dying becoming superpowerful before
people don’t like how the outsiders origin was explaining this game. I don’t think his origin story is that underwhelming. A cult took in some kid from the street, bathed them, fed him, dressed him, and sacrificed him to the void.
#DishonoredTheVoid #Dishonored3 #2022
"the world is full of secrets"
Outsider has to be the moat neutral character in gaming history...
Oswald?!??!
Except this one is better because he’s sounds not just good but it fits the fact that he cannot change his form and still sounds the way he did when he died which is a 15 year old kid the other sounded great but too grown of a man and though the outsider is a man technically his body not being able to change to match age according to one of the games creators then he should sound like a young kid so this fits lore better
why are his hands so big? Corvo's look so small in comparison :-/
I'm not a fan of the Outsider's origin, I'd rather he be just there, a god existing with no real beginning or end.
It’s more interesting and unique and gives out so much more mystery and unanswered questions that make the game more interesting if it’s as simple as he’s a god the end it’s boring and typical as hell
i love the Dishonored 1 Outsider much better than the Death of the outsider BS.
Whatever happened to old Samuel
If I remember, he died in high chaos because I shot him, and he died in low chaos because of either old age, or again, because I shot him in his head.
the new outsider sounded like an angsty teen more than anything. The original was much slower, calmer and more intimidating as an all-knowing spirit.
but the outsider is a teen...
@@MultiPaco06 Should have phrased it as, "angsty bitch" then
Technically he’s old but his can not change his form so he’s technically still sounds like the way he did when he was killed which was a 15 year old kid so yea this voice is better that’s probably why they changed it plus the emo look fits perfect he’s is the avatar of the void and the void itself he’s should look something like that it’s perfect combo
y does the outsider sound like mike Chilton from motorcity
Quinn Kapsner yeah he kinda does 😂
Quinn Kapsner he's actually Oswald Cobblepot AKA the penguin from Gotham
Keltic Warrior REALLY shit I would have never noticed now whenever I watch Gotham I'll just be thinking "heya whale Satan u can't hide from me"
Quinn Kapsner lol
basically The Outsider is Delilah's Horcrux.
wow the greybeards turned the outsider into a god smh
@@roberto8274 well when you put it like that. 😟😱☠💚💙💜
He is capable of giving people powers to slow down time, possess people and more, he’s the representation of the Void, immensely powerful.
I still don't get a thing... if he is 4000+ old, why are his clothes relatively modern?
I mean, he is practically a god, so I don’t think alternating his suits would be a hard think
I'm not much of a fan of this, mostly due to how it removes the mysteriousness of the Outsider.
I mean we are bound to know eventually the story of everything in the game so it would lose mystery eventually something can’t be a mystery forever plus he’s still mysterious even with the dlc cause there are so many unanswered secrets surrounding him they do such a great job with doing things like that in this game
an awesome scene despite the lame last line from Corvo. is the world full of secrets Corvo really?
I like this one's voice the other guys voice was kind of boring plus the guy that played as the first one was a total jerk
and why is he a jerk again
because of the twitter incident
it was not offensive if he is right
wat Twitter comment?
Gotham0 AJ
"His reddit username is TrannyDestroyer, let's nail him to a cross even though if you actually listen to his explanation you'll realize he didn't mean any harm, and eventually stopped using that reddit account altogether!"
Michelle
You're jumping to all these irrational conclusions based solely on his username.
So he’s Jesus basically
This guy always undettles me
Bruh why does he look like the onceler
Why creators of Dishonored 2 want to destroy univers of Dishonored 1? The Void was a intresting place not a dark like there , The Outsider was ethernal and why they want to kill him?
Bc Dishonored isn't TES universe where they care about what the lore is.
Dishonored isn't even on Fallout level of interesting.
Your a dumbass there is more lore in dishonored than fallout and I play both hardcore and am a fan of both but i guess someone who does not care about the games lore would say some shit like that and yea they do care I dont see why this guy even says that because the void is still exactly that and we know nothing yet or all the secrets I the game that are unanswered and left in pure mystery and same goes to the outsider they make him move and talk more and people complain about things that still remain the same it would be dumb if he stayed doing barely nothing like in the first game people will obviously want to learn more
I don't know why he reminds me of Tom Cruise lmao.
The old outsider voice was better
Why not it’s an amazing dlc and you get to have a beautiful ending if you play non lethally it’s a very nice dlc very worth it I just wish it was longer but it’s an important part of the story if you care about it that much buy it for sure
what mission is this ?
The ending of The Dust District after finishing up at Aramis' house
The first dishonored was way better than the second
Lol no
I love :D's argument, and I completely agree. Lol no indeed.
Debatable
Hell nooooooo
Lmao nope it was fun but no you don’t know a lot of things about the lore and the game itself if you really said that
My favorite game 💕💕💕
Give a origin to the Outsider's powers was a mistake for me. That's a great character, because he's mysterious, powerful, neutral, always calm and pretty impressive with his young and fleshy appearance. Given him a origin as a simple sacrified boy is taking him lesser than the godlike figure that we can imagined...that's a great mistake, because this fix him to the nature of a human half-god, instead of a enigmatic, omnipotent and complex entity.
to me, the idea of what a human can do with a god characteristics is way more interesting than a god itself
Robin Lord Taylor 💜💜💜💜
New voice of the Outsider sounds like someone's cutting my throat and I don't really like it...
hey
Man they ruined this character...took all the mystery of Dishonored.
Jesus, it seems emo whale Satan has a flare for the dramatic..
I was going to downvote this, but then I saw "emo whale Satan" 😂😂😂 also it's flair, not flare.
He’s not evil so it does not work
I hate the new edgy teenager...
He hates you too.
Dumbass he was always a teenager do your research
Please do research before commenting and that makes him way cooler and interesting a human became a god and there was gods before him and what did he secretly do those 4000 years did he change and alter the world based on revenge or did his mind change based on him becoming a god why was he seen as equal to the whales who are magical there is so much secrets and interesting lore that made him more mysterious now then before when he was a typical boring god who gave powers cause he was bored because yes that really was what he did he did not change destinies according to the first game he was neutral never choosing sides he let people do that still does but with more interesting lore and no Billie can choose to kill him but you can do the more interesting choice of letting him leave and making him mortal again which brings up even more hundreds of interesting questions and lore
such a big fucking mistake
There is no way his scrawny ass can hold corvo the way he did at the 20 second mark , especially With just one hand , dude no way he prob weighs like 100 pounds soaking wet with his skinny stick boy self and we are expected to believe he can catch corvo from falling with one hand ! Gtfo 💪🏿👈
Hes a god...
but its okay to teleport and give people superpowers, alright
jdog8931 are you questioning a guy who give you the power to freeze time and whatnot
Dude, he's basically a god, and it's the void not the earth. Gravity probably works differently there.
wtf? you demand REALISM in a fantasy magic game ...and you complain that a FRIKKING GOD can't have the strength to hold the weight of some dude. Glad that YOu are in charge of in-universe powers..... Man...reboot your brain and start again please, that's just plain stupid
