How To Fix Bike Brake Pad Rubbing On Rim

  • If you Have caliper brakes on your bicycle, and one of the brake pads is rubbing on the wheel, while the other brake pad is not touching the wheel, this video shows you how to center your caliper brakes on your bike so that neither one of the pads is rubbing the wheel. Bicycle caliper brakes have spring tension adjustment built into the calipers, and you can turn a screw to change the tension on your brake caliper, which will move the brake pad away from the wheel. If you adjust the brake spring tension so that it is even on both brake pads, then both of them will not rub on the wheel when you’re not pulling on the brake lever. It takes a little bit of time to adjust your brake pads on your Bicycle so that the brake pads don’t drag on the rim, but you can do it if you have a little bit of time and patience. Once your brake pads are centered, they will not drag on your bike wheel or rim, and the brakes will work properly when you need to stop.

    Sometimes you have to use a Allen wrench and adjust the wire itself by pulling the slack and retightening where it comnects near the ribbed rubber piece.

    If you're still having trouble there's a little piece of metal that right above those screws they should be pushed backwards in place n it will push your break Padalecki apart it's kinda hard to explain on text but hopefully you get the message

    Hey this worked for me. I adjusted the cable tension so that the cable blocks were close to the rim almosr touching. Then evened out the pull using the small screws as shown. With the back brakes a just adjusted the screws as there was no need to adjust the tension. The brakes are now sharp and the wheels turn pretty much unhindered.
    Great Video 👍🏾

    If the drag continues while riding, would that cause a tire issue? I can’t get mine to stop….. I’m finding that commuting on a bicycle isn’t reliable & I have a flat tire at least once a month. I’m on my last straw with bicycles….

    Thank you ... going to try this hopefully tomorrow. I thought those screws might be something... One question: simple old bike with basic pedal... the pedal is standardard threading where clockwise is to tighten is that correct? Too many videos on fancy bicycle pedals that uses an allen wrench.... but not simple basic brake pedal. I always thought the pedal was couter threaded for some reason.

    • @hoohoohoblin
      @hoohoohoblin  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      One of the pedals is normal thread, and the other one is reverse thread.

    Wow. I have a very low quality bike and 9 months later it starts making these creaking sounds. I know nothing about bikes so I thought it was very complicated and had to go to a workshop to fix it. Found countless videos showing to remove the wheels and rusty parts and that scared me who was very limited choice of mechanical tools. The first simple step of moving the calipers or whatever fixed it. I'm gonna have to improve my knowledge lmao I still have no idea how to fix a chain and I use it daily
