    On behalf of myself and my set of suddenly exhausted legs...THANK YOU!!! I thought I had aged 20 years the last few trips on my bike. I just couldn't figure why it was so difficult to make my usual trip to the supermarket and back, that is until the other day when I noticed the distinct sound of the back wheel-- and a couple of days before when I went to roll my bike out the garage, it was noticeably dragging. Strangely, when this particular moment happened, I immediate reflected back to a week or so earlier. When leaving the supermarket-- and heading to the public bike-rack-- I noticed my bike leaning, (prevented from physically touching the ground because of the bike's frame being chained the individual bike posts.). Obviously, the owner of the bike that was, then, parked next to mine, had either nudge mine to get to his/her... that, or some random person bumped into it and didn't bother to stand it back up in place. I DO remember being irritated because the individual didn't bother re-stand the bike. Once I had unlocked the bike and INITIALLY went to roll it away from the rack, I noticed the difficulty in rolling the bike itself. I had to get home, so I just started to ride forgetting about the entire event. All of my ranting just to say: it only took that ONE event to knock my pad out of alignment. Thanks again for your help, sir. (sorry for the typos. Haven't had coffee yet, but I had to thank you ;) )

      Yes! I couldn't figure out why my first ride after a couple of years was so difficult- I'm in good shape otherwise! Duh- the brake pad is causing friction!

    Thank you so much! I just took my bike in to get serviced. It came back with the front AND rear wheels binding up. It was audible and I was losing speed... down hill.
    I thought I was going to have to take it back in and complain, but this solved my orkblem

    Great! I also thought I was getting weaker and weaker. Super handy, succinct, and fixed my problem. I can easily find a little random Philips head to carry with me in case it gets out of alignment again.

      After the tweaks from your tutorial, two weeks later, I still haven't had to adjust the tires. It was driving me nuts! I had been stopping 2-3 times on the way to uni, and 2-3 times on the way back, too. :-) Thanks so much!

    Whats the thing at the back that he calls a breakpad that he is pushing? It looks like he is pushing the back wheel break, but I'm not sure how that would close the front breaks.

    Saved $100 for me. I was trying to get appointments for a tune up but tried what you said and it worked. It was a little different for me, there was a thin metal piece sticking out... I didn't know what to do so, just pushed it in till it stayed in place. So, I had to tighten up the food side and loosen up the problematic side and I put that piece of metal in. Then I checked the back wheel and the thin metal piece was inside 🤦‍♀️ that was a little bit of confirmation for me. Spinned the wheel, no sound 😌🙏🙇‍♀️
    I should have compared the front wheel and the back wheel.

    My brakes are pulsing when I pull my brake lever. It's driving me nuts.
    I tried adjusting the levers perfectly, adjusted my pads and I even tried truing the spokes, twice.
    It still pulses when I pull the brake lever. This is a new wheel too. What do I do?
    I noticed a high spot where my pads have burned through the black paint. It's right near the join segment of the rim.

    These are not a safe brake design. The pads will eventually wear and go under the rim causing a crash.

    • @kellenhalfsighted3500
      @kellenhalfsighted3500 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @James Bond Because they're..... not a safe break design because the pads will wear and go under the rim?
      They also tend to wear unevenly and lose effectiveness.
      They aren't very effective anyway. Pad brakes like this can't grip like quality disk brakes. I can lock the brakes up on my Diamondback and the wheel will NOT spin. That means I can stop on a dime if I have to. The wheels WILL continue to roll using this brake style so if the child needs to hard stop for a road hazard, another cyclist who's fallen, a car, whatever..... they can't. And that stopping distance will be increased the fast they're riding.
