In case anyone gets stuck after the .vbs script isn't working. This is what I did to solve it. In streamer bot, go to Servers/Clients > Then go to HTTP Server > Click Start Server (Make sure Port is 7474). The reason this happens is because the action created with the bat file is trying to connect to streamer bot using HTTP but the server isn't open... so what happens is nothing. Hope that fixed it!
In fairness, the number of people who are going to plug two keyboards into the same computer is so small that I can't see this ever becoming a feature.
I opened up Hardware Manager to see if it wasn't already a thing, and I don't really understand why Windows thinks I have 12 keyboards plugged in at once. As the years go by, I understand why people switch to Linux because if there's a feature you want then there's a chance someone else has crafted a module already, or you could built it yourself, but I'm not ready to commit to that kind of brain leap yet.
Even though I haven't any need to add stuff to my setups I still love watching Nutty! All of his videos show off his laconic sense of humor, and are delightfully fun to watch all the way through. I hope this helps in some small way, because he truly brings me joy with his online persona.

I know this video is pretty old now, but I found something a little weird with version 2.3 of HIDMacros, granted, my use case is a bit unusual. I use a MIDI controller to control my volume levels in VoiceMeeter, and in this specific use case, using a MIDI controller on top of a keypad, trying to run MIDI software on top of HIDMacros will cause it to error out and hang. This is because HIDMacros asks for exclusive access to the MIDI port. The easiest way to solve this (if anyone else is having this problem) is to use version 2.2 since this version does not connect MIDI controllers.
Thank you so much. It took a lot of time to setup each key but it's really useful. Even for basic hotkeys like hiding and showing something in OBS, you could use hotkeys inside OBS but with SteamerBot I can add more functionality. Like playing a sound when i mute my microphone and stuff.
Might sound like a dumb question but.. i gotta ask since google isn't being my friend. Can I use HID Macros for my USB NumPad to make macros for in game stuff? Simple stuff like... /target *PlayerName* /hug /kiss Maybe I can just do more googling..

I followed everything to a tea and the node is not working, for some reason the vbs files do not function. I can use streamerbot to change scenes and any other action I make, its when I run the build that it stops working on macros. Im not sure whats going on or how to fix it so if anyone does know please fill me in about it because it was working just fine until node updated.
I think this is better for those who hates soldering. I was planning to build one using Arduino Pro Micro that does the same thing. Although the difference is, I don't have to setup my build up every time I change PC. The good thing about that one you did is that You can just use any keyboard available. Or even the numpad you have in your existing keyboard.. But still I prefer to build on eusing arduino just because it is more fun that way. At least for me.

For Spanish keyboard users, HID Macros is unusable since it turns accents into double accents (for example when you wanna write "á", HID Macros comes into play making you type "´´a"). In case you're having this issue, my recommendation is this: get a Corsair keyboard that's compatible with iCue. With iCue you can launch programs by pressing keys on the Corsair keyboard and it won't be picked up by the pc as the main keyboard, but as a 2nd one. Main keyboard funtions won't be triggered. The cheapest Corsair keyboard I could find that's compatible with iCue is the K55. It's a membrane keyboard so customization is not possible but it still works :D
I feel like a much simpler solution is to use Windows' hidden function keys F13-F24... you'd need autohotkey to map them but could uninstall after that. But I'm not sure if streamerbot supports f13-24 though
if you want icons on your keys you can just get "relegendable" keycaps which are just 2 parts caps with a base and a cover and you can put a printed piece of paper under the cap for like $5 for 10 caps.
I'm having a couple of issues with this. One is that every time I open HID Macros I have to reconnect one of the macros to the associated script (any one, it doesn't really matter which) before any of the macros work. The second issue is that it only works if HID Macros is on top. If I click over to another program the macros don't work.
I also have the same problem with having to reconnect the scripts. When I reconnect one of the scripts within HID Macros, they all start to work. Anyone have a solution?

About second problem I'm not sure but you can try to open HID macros icon property, find "Security" line and click on the "Unblock" button. It helps me to avoid dialog window every time when I open it.

Troubleshoot I found after fiddling around for 5 minutes: when you restart the HID Macros program after closing it, the program goes back to filtering for Applications, instead of all files. To fix this, just go back into one of your key binds and readjust the "run application" command to filter for all files
There's ONE BIG ISSUE with HID Macros: It changes the global keyboard standart to EN-US. As a Brazilian using ABNT standard keyboards, it's VERY FRUSTRATING losing accents and ç because of it.

i got mine to work, however it gives me the wrong scene. Number 1 action is to bring up the starting stream soon scene and when I press the 1 it brings up the ending stream scene, I doubled checked to make sure I applied the right scene to the number 1 and it's the correct one, but it gives me a dif action.
well I am into the freedom to make the macropad do anything not just a streaming deck. so I wonder if I can reprogram the keys in the keyboard to have different set buttons such as pressing on F is not really an F without having a software running in the background? then use Autohotkey to make the button do anything and make it do specific task such as open TH-cam or play a music, or open a specific folder or it only affect specific window in such a way that the button would work only if photoshop is running.
Hey I have 1 question, I followed this exactly (or at least I believe I did) and despite the macros working, everytime i press one it pops up with a "windows script host" error "the system cannot find the file specified" but the scenes are still changing. How can i fix this?
The only fault I see to this is that you can only add as many commands as you have keys available, which if you're using an entire keyboard might be more than enough tbh but if you only have the num pad, it seems pretty limited. But other than that, I think this is a very cool replacement for stream deck! Thanks for making this video :D
@@nuttylmao It's still better than nothing! Besides, I doubt that streamers who have to resort to things like this for their streams have to have a lot of commands. I personally just have like 3 or 4 scenes max so even with just a num pad this works perfectly for me!

I am having two problems. Nothing is happening when I press the scanned buttons. It worked a few times and then just stopped. And StreamerBot keeps disconnecting from OBS.
I just setup my first ghetto deck but just use it for regular hot keys… this looks a bit complicated and annoying to set up…. But not as annoying as typing something on my keyboard and accidentally activating my hot keys!! I’ll def give this a try

Loved the tutorial, but I am having a problem, I did everything right and it works, but if I close HID macros and open again, the buttons stop working. I tested the .vbs files and they are fine. In HID, the keyboard still the same, and the keys too. The only way I can make work again is to re-register the keys again (even being the same) or sometimes is reconfigure the patchway in "run application". I already installed again HID.
@umatorta had this issue too, then what I may have realized is; remember the 30seconds reconnection timing in streamerbot??? Yeah, if it isn't responding, give it a minute.

SOS @nuttyl!!! I did everything EXACTLY, but now that I have hid macro it won't work. It is acting like it's my main keyboard and they aren't activating anymore
So I set this up and it works as intended outside of games! But, when I'm actually *in* a game, my macro no longer works. Tabbing out gets them working again, but if I'm focused on the game then it doesn't. Anyone know a workaround for this?

I only found one detail and I wanted to know if you or someone would know how to fix it, when I started using hidmacros again it doesn't work, I solved it by reloading the files again in each action and that's when it started working, someone knows how to solve it, greetings!!
In another hand you can try Up Deck. 20 buttons for 25 pages, it has docs on their official website. Works great with OBS without any noticible delay. But for Streamerbot specific things, you would need a workaround for Up Deck to launch the vbs file. I found a way with a python script that just launches the vbs. Not the best way cause there's like a one second delay by doing that but I didn't find a better solution.
For some reason my extra keyboard keeps getting recongized as my normal keyboard. im not sure what the problem is. does it need to be a bluetooth num pad or can another usb pad work?
its an awesome idea but my only question is would this work on something like the Megalodon 3 knob macro pad? reason being is that it has built-in 4 different profiles and the macro pad is kinda a pain to set up, also the fact that some of the function like opening programs is clunky.
Q: I can successfully get everything to run well until I close the HID macros. Then the next time I open HID macros it won't trigger unless I re-find the .vbs file with 'run application' , then it works fine. Is it not saving? am I missing something obvious? Nothing seems to change if I run as administrator, neither does changing the commands at every step to one word phrases.
Actually nvm just found a solution by @jejefpv " I was getting crazy ! I have found a way to avoid this issue : create a shortcut to your HIDMacros.exe, and in its properties, use the folder that contains your VBS macros as the "Start in" folder. It did the job for me, I don't need to relink anymore."

Got it to work. I confond Streamerbot's HTTP server with it's websocket server.

Would I be able to reassign the number lock key on the number pad keyboard like that?
Loved the tutorial, but I am having a problem, I did everything right and it works, but if I close HID macros and open again, the buttons stop working. I tested the .vbs files and they are fine. In HID, the keyboard still the same, and the keys too. The only way I can make work again is to re-register the keys again (even being the same) or sometimes is reconfigure the patchway in "run application". I already installed again HID.
Found a work around, everytime I open HID, is just needed to make the patch again for one key and they all starts work again
@umatorta had this issue too, then what I may have realized is; remember the 30seconds reconnection timing in streamerbot???

Yep, I'm having the same issue and have to reconnect the script. It also won't work unless I'm on HID Macros. If I click on another window the macros don't work.
Try this fix:
Put all your .vbs .bat files into HID macros directory and don't forget about _action.cjs !
After experimenting with this problem - I found that it has access problem to the file system after reopen, so here is the fix.

SOS @nuttyl!!! I did everything EXACTLY, but now that I have hid macro it won't work. It is acting like it's my main keyboard and they aren't activating anymore
So I set this up and it works as intended outside of games! But, when I'm actually *in* a game, my macro no longer works. Tabbing out gets them working again, but if I'm focused on the game then it doesn't. Anyone know a workaround for this?
I have 2 question for you. Can you double the keys by using the num lock? And could you add ( shift or ctl plus number ) to make even more shortcuts?
You can use the numlock, but not the combo as far as I've tested

I only found one detail and I wanted to know if you or someone would know how to fix it, when I started using hidmacros again it doesn't work, I solved it by reloading the files again in each action and that's when it started working, someone knows how to solve it, greetings!!

i was about to buy a stream deck and checked the price, 440 bucks for the XL from jbhifi fug that, thanks for the tutorial nutty very easy to set up!
In another hand you can try Up Deck. 20 buttons for 25 pages, it has docs on their official website. Works great with OBS without any noticible delay.
But for Streamerbot specific things, you would need a workaround for Up Deck to launch the vbs file. I found a way with a python script that just launches the vbs. Not the best way cause there's like a one second delay by doing that but I didn't find a better solution.

For some reason my extra keyboard keeps getting recongized as my normal keyboard. im not sure what the problem is. does it need to be a bluetooth num pad or can another usb pad work?

No idea. Maybe a work around by creating actions that can activate and desactivate sources from the scenes that downstream keyer uses.
its an awesome idea but my only question is would this work on something like the Megalodon 3 knob macro pad? reason being is that it has built-in 4 different profiles and the macro pad is kinda a pain to set up, also the fact that some of the function like opening programs is clunky.
It might. The applications here are all free, so it's just a matter of spending time to poke around with it.
Q: I can successfully get everything to run well until I close the HID macros. Then the next time I open HID macros it won't trigger unless I re-find the .vbs file with 'run application' , then it works fine. Is it not saving? am I missing something obvious? Nothing seems to change if I run as administrator, neither does changing the commands at every step to one word phrases.

Actually nvm just found a solution by @jejefpv " I was getting crazy ! I have found a way to avoid this issue : create a shortcut to your HIDMacros.exe, and in its properties, use the folder that contains your VBS macros as the "Start in" folder. It did the job for me, I don't need to relink anymore."
