Billy Likitsakos music Jeff Andrews has passed, Kenny Kirkland has passed and Michael Brecker of course has passed on. All of them great and all at a young age. Life is so fleeting ...
I love Jeff's walking and all that, he's wonderful. As a soloist though, his feel, phrasing, and vocabulary is insane. And the fluidity in his soloing just like the greatest horn players.
Never heard Hakim with Brecker with Andrews, Kirkland and Stern! This particular combination... Wow! What a treat! Now I have to see if there's more of this gig. Gratitude!♥️🙏🏼
I was there. The ticket cost me $50 or something, definitely big money for a college student, but it was way more than that. My mind was totally blown. Thank you Louis for sharing this video.
Very in the moment playing by everyone. From the very first note, Mike's solo is so fresh and inspired. I think this is one of the earlier gigs doing this material with his band, maybe that had a little to do with it to. Man, Kenny's piano solo is off the hook.
I saw this band in NYC but with Adam Nussbaum on drums. Nussbaum broke a snare head at the beginning of a tune and still killed it! RIP Kenny Kirkland, such a badass!
I saw this lineup in Tokyo, probably within a day or two of this recording. Awesome band. After the show, I split a cab with Michael Brecker back to the hotel.
Hmnn... not sure about the drum and bass groove behind Kenny’s solo. To me they seem to be on a different energy level, maybe Kenny is swinging too hard for them
Wow... Kenny Kirkland! There are so many great live versions, but this is my new fave!
Genius Kenny!!! ❤❤❤
A band of jazz heroes of my generation and so many of them gone now 😥
R.I.P. Jeff Andrews. You did so much for bringing the electric bass into jazz. We all owe you so much!

Man, I love Brecker's sound during this time!
Listening to brecker is like being at school
BRECKER IS A MUSICIAN THAT BRINGS THE JAZZ TO THE HIGH COMPLEXITY AND THE MOST INFLUENCIAL MUSIC OF THE NEXT CENTURY....

Could be anywhere more tracks from this gig or this line-up?
They're on my channel.
@@ewi4000 Right, thank you so much. Your channel is amazing!
Is that Omar Hakim on drums? I think it is.
It is as stated in the description.
And I also wrote it in the opening credits of the video.
@@ewi4000 Well I guessed it just from his playing then.
@@luke125 even better 😃
ドラム(特にスネアの音色)がもう少し繊細な方が曲に合ってるかも。

Yes, but what about Stern’s solo...? 😐
Just happened to dissapear?...
”Not sure about the groove... The pulse grows all along, Read My Lips.
