  • Here is how to replace the battery on an electric bike. If you have an E bike with a dead battery, and you want to replace the battery inside of the battery case, it is possible to buy a replacement battery and put it in your existing case. This can save you some money, and it is easy to do. A new battery in a case can cost $100 more then a new battery on its own. In this video I show you how to open up your battery case, disconnect the old battery, and connect the new battery to the charging case so that you will have your old ebike battery case with a new battery. Watch this video to learn how to DIY replace the battery in an E bike.
    Here's an example of a battery for sale. Make sure you find the right size and voltage:

    So those eBay packs come with a BMS inside?
    Without it those new batteries won’t last long at all folks.

      make sure you get a battery with an actual charge port not a 'common port' which is super dangerous.

  • @igorberezin856
    @igorberezin856 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I purchased that same battery brand and I should warn you the charge port is the same as main power they use "common port" as the charge port is always live and if you accidently get anything that conducts electricity such as a drop of rain it will short circuit the battery exploding the charge port which has happened to me. It caused severe burns to my hand since it was near the charge port, splattered melted black charge port plastic all over the place. since there is no short-circuit protection on this battery or bms, it will explode or catch on fire. it took 8 or so seconds to burn through the live wires all over the connections until the wires just melted and stopped it from going up in flames. Just a word of caution. you maybe better off getting a battery with an actual charge port with a diode that stops accidental shorts from charge port.

    I bought one 48v 20mah. It run fine for the first 25 miles with my 1000w kit. It still shows 2/5 bar before i charged it. The problem start from here. After finish charging, it no longer output voltage. Troubleshooting and open the whole thing out based on seller's instruction. No thing works. They sent new BMS but it did not help. They sent new battery as a replacemwnt but i had to pay $70 for shipping they claimed. It took almost 1 month to come. The big box finally arrived. It is the size of 5 batteries combine. The box got bitten up badly. No shipping foam or support materials in there. The battery probably bounced couple thousands time on the way. It got damage and scratches all over the place. Dusty as well. No more word to say. I dont think they want to do any business

    Thank you man. Ive just started my daily life of using ebike and got worried in the future where the battery goes out on me so I searched all over the internet where to buy the removable battery. No luck on anything because I didnt know the thing was only a casing and to replace it, you needed to change the actual battery inside. Thanks for shedding my worries away in the future man.

    Thanks a lot for this useful tutorial.. I have a similar battery with Alu case and lock/switch at top.. I need to replace the inner battery and I bought a proper size one at Aliexpress.. My question is: my new battery pack has in it (the manufacturer says) a Bms control.. The pack is wired as yours, cables for charging and cables for output current.. Hence, according to you my pack (with bms) can be connected just as yours? Do you think that my ebike can have another bms outside the battery? Thanks really a lot, Marco from Italy

      Look around on the Internet for the bike battery rebuilders. I know that they exist. If your battery has screws in it that make it easy to take apart, it probably has standard sized cells in it that can be replaced.

    Can you tell me what a battery bag is ? I assume that for some, the idea to replace a battery and do what you did here is too much so they buy a replacement battery like you did then put them in a bag which they then strap to the battery rack ? But its not only cost. For my maker they went out of business so I'm stuck with a nearly new bike and a battery that was garbage. So of course, I want to just replace the battery guts and not the battery case. I will do what you did. Thank you again

      That’s a good question. I’m not sure if there is a fuse in there that will shut it down if there’s too much power.

      You can take a look at the products I found on Amazon:www.amazon.com/X-go-Battery-Lithium-Electric-48v/dp/B098XKXBTM/ref=sr_1_15?crid=1IBVZ5ENXJVGQ&dchild=1&keywords=x-go+ebike+battery&qid=1630034108&refresh=1&sprefix=x-go+%2Caps%2C1134&sr=8-15

      As long as you are in the same voltage 48v 13 ah or 20 ah will work

      You can definitely replace the battery with *larger* capacity. The controller and BMS limit the current. If you can fit 15 or 16 Ah in the case, don't bother with smaller.

      @@mrtechie6810so it won’t make your bike faster / more power . I would like more speed and it doesn’t climb hills to well .. I have the maxfoc x-1 . It’s not a big issue but if there is a way to upgrade I would want to

    Hello. Does the key stop you from sliding the battery out the case? Or?

    • @hoohoohoblin
      @hoohoohoblin  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The switch is connected to the battery with wires. The key pops a little pin in and out that can be used to lock the battery onto a bike rack. It doesn’t stop the battery from being slid out of the casing.

    Does somebody have an idea how to get off the white glue when its around a corner/on the underside of the battery?

    • @hoohoohoblin
      @hoohoohoblin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You just have to use a thin knife or screwdriver and be careful not to cut into the battery. It’s rubbery silicone glue.

      This bike’s been crashed a few times. A cruiser with a coaster brake wasn’t designed to have 1000 W motor that can do 30 miles an hour on the front wheel. It’s lots of fun though!
