Hi, I was under the impression you couldn't keep that many males together because they fight? How do you manage to make it work please? I've been keeping them 1 male to 5 females. Thanks
@@borderfarm406 Hi, do you manage to get them to a good size in 7 weeks? Mine always seem a little skinny at 7 weeks? What's the best way to fatten the birds up quickly and organically? Thank you
yes we feed an organic feed that is 26-27% protein, as well as the grasses they are on, and fruits and veggies we put in there. Our hens are always larger for sure, but the males are at their mature size at 6-7 weeks - we do jumbo brown coturnix
Nice grow out tractors. One suggestion, put a tub with sand in it in the enclosed back area so the boys can take a sand bath. Japanese quail love to take sand baths.
we have a water container in there and a food tray - before I move the tractors I pull those out , look for eggs, and then pull to the next location, put the water and food dishes back in. There is labor involved, but only minutes.

yes males fight if left together after 6-7 weeks of age, when they enter sexual maturity. We cull at this age or slightly before for our freezer.

How often do you change out the bedding?
there is no bedding in the tractors other than the back area - we pull them every 2-3 days so they are on fresh grass
