    Make it Thinner behind the edge and that thing would be a workhorse with that tall blade

    That is a lot of work to go through to correct all of what should have been caught at the factory. You are an exception, since you are an experienced owner, but had it been someone else, they might have just returned it and got another knife. I hope you drop them a line and tell them exactly what happened and what you did to fix it. Those sort of problems are really inexcusable at this price point. Other than your initial problems, it is a damn nice knife! Well done, LTK!

    I want a red one to match my sr1 but not if it doesn't have caged bearings. If the flipper is slick I usually hit it with a diamond stone

    Nick Shabazz has the best review of this knife. Y'all need to check it out if you're even considering this knife. This review is not bad but Nick has some interesting and compelling points for one to consider imho. Thumbs up!

    I have to admit, I was really excited for this knife a few months ago. But that's kind of slipped away the more I've seen and heard. I think if I do wind up with one, I'll go with the Al version. As much as I love Italian design, I've put enough oil pans down in the garage that I'm tired of living with the tolerances. BTW, I'm beginning to think that @#$% little detent ball has more to do with the knife's performance than bearings, bushings etc. Put a drop of nano oil on _that_ sucker and see what happens - I've had _some_ knives change a lot. Nick took his SR11 apart, but didn't have fun doing it.

      Slidetek- I haven't had good luck with Italian knives. Like you said, nice design, but inconsistent quality.

    Lionsteel in most cases like CRKT actually use a captive bearing. Its not true IKBS. But still works well.

    • @LuvThemKnives
      @LuvThemKnives  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      PurplEDC Reviews I'd prefer captive bearings. The CRKT GSD was definitely not captured bearings

    • @purpledc1
      @purpledc1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't seen the GSD taken apart. I was just saying that with lionsteel I have not seen them do a genuine IKBS pivot. I have seen CRKT do it both ways though.

    Just tighten the screw and the rotolock won't move.. That's what I did on my sr1 and dpx hest

    I don't see how or why they would have ikbs in an integral.. No way.

    "...that is no longer an issue."
    You hope it's not "not currently an issue."
    I would be in high stress mode. I am already in high stress mode, hoping my hard drive doesn't die before a replacement arrives tomorrow. And family health issues. An expensive, balky knife might set me off on the genuine plaster walls here!

    I am returning my red aluminum SR-11, it's the second of 4 purchases from Lionsteel that have off-center blades that can't be corrected by adjustment. Beautiful knife but I am no longer a fan.

    Lol I have never been a big fan of any lionsteel model. They all seem to be a little overhyped in my opinion. I also wouldn't spend that amount of money on a knife, but if you have the disposable income why not. Nice review sir!

    break it in

  • @MrWoodyBalto
    @MrWoodyBalto 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If it does have IKBS cageless bearings, that would be mission impossible to assemble in an integral frame. They would have to pack the bearing groove with real sticky grease to get then to stay put during assembly. Hmmmm, perhaps that's why there is an issue with the pivot when new. They used some grease that dries up or really screws with the action.
    Either way.... That's just NOT RIGHT! When you spend that kind of money you should get a lot more quality.
    As a Proud Italian American, It pains me to say.... Some of my Chinese knives are the best knives I own. Kizer and We knife are leading the way!

    LTK- I'm not buying that this is the Knife of the Year and that LionSteel does the highest quality production. What is the criteria? Chris Reeve has better tolerances and quality.

    To each their own... Yet, in MY Humble Opinion...Just a few words: Eeewwww Ugly as Hell, from profile to blade, to very un-appealing-looking flipper-tab. And doing a little research on the price, the only ones that are in the $200-ish range are the Aluminium models, as the Titanium models are in the $300+++ to $450-ish price-range. So it is Very possible that the one in the video here is Aluminium for the price, hence the steel pocket-clip, as a Titanium handled model, 'Knife of the Year' I imagine should at least also have a titanium milled clip for a $400+ price-tag.
    In My opinion, if its the fact that its an Integral at such a price that is the only ~criteria~ for it winning the title of knife of the year', then they need different criteria, as with more advanced CNC machines and such, integrals ought not be as difficult to produce as they perhaps once were.
    And again, to sum up My initial reaction to this gem : Eeww LOL
    ~Edit= looking at the contours and such of the blade in close ups of the blade on other reviews, the blade Does seem to have a very nice finish... though all in all, for the price on either aluminium or titanium, the over-all fit and finish should not leave the buyer upset at first about the action, or trying to 'resolve' the issue of action on their own.

      Thsts what I was thinking too . Way too overpriced for aluminum for $200 and potential issues like blade centering and their bearings aren’t super smooth like others . I want to be a fan but certainly not feeling it . Might as well get a ganzo 720 which I did and it’s 100% awesome . Never have to touch the blade

    Lock stick ? Not everyone knows the jargon/knows it yet. Try to keep that in mind when you’re slinging jargon. Googling lock stick now. Pausing video… accessing google ……
