    Hey man, so glad I stumbled across this video - if anything because it had a *clear* explanation on the power distributions. I've had to educate myself on that including looking at my breaker haha. Also super glad you're sponsored by GPU risers because I just bought a bunch of them (with your link) and cancelled a sketchy amazon brand order! Finally some good quality PCB's! Thanks mate.

    Great video but I'm confused about your power. You're running 6x 3070ti, at probably 200W each conservatively, +250W for extras, that 1450W and you're using a single 1000W powersupply. What am I missing with your power draw?

  • @megalojerk84
    @megalojerk84 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I found the solution for temps but it's a doozy lol. You can pull 100F air from outside and still keep 55c temps. You need to put your rigs in enclosed mining cases, run a duct outside and put a duct register box up against the case fans for passive intake. Have another register box connected to an inline fan up against the exhaust of the mining case. This pulls air over the cards and pumps it directly back out of the tent.

    I noticed you powered each individual card with a single 8 pin pcie cable with a splitter. Are you concerned about overloading the cables/connectors? I understand the ATX spec says 150W per 8 pin connector but the Molex specs indicate the connectors and pins can handle a lot more (8A/288W). You spec your PSU for full GPU TDP but do you plan your cables based on Molex specs instead of ATX?
    Let's say you power limit to 230W in HiveOS, theoretically the riser can provide 75W but I have yet to see any 3k series cards draw more than ~40W from the slot. This would leave 150-190W being supplied by the cable, 215-250W if the GPU is at full TDP.

    Hi, great video! One question, the cable that goes into both risers, in which slot from the PSU do you connect it? Is it the 6pin slot or 8 pin slot? Because the 6 slot I have says MOLEX/SATA/PERIF. and I read that SATA is not good, so not sure if I should use those. Let me know your thoughts.

    Hey friend, one thing, with this server psu can u feed 4 3070 ti? Its not so risky? Because this server psu gives 1200w but its less for the efficiency snd each 3070 ti need 300w.. 300x4 =1200w. Its not too risky?

    Great video! I’ve been thinking about making a rig for alt coins like raven, ergo but I am confused which cards I should get, at first, I thought about 3070 ti, then I saw your community post with 3070tis , so I decided to wait for your video, it finally came! as for the cards, I’m not really liking the memory temps and power consumption of these 3070ti, EVGA seems fine but it isn’t available in my country, now I’m left confused which LHR I should get, what do you think about LHR 3070? I already have few rigs on Etherium, so I’m not looking to buy any non LHR since they twice cost as much as LHR where I live, so I need your suggestions on which LHR card should I get to dedicatedly mine alt coins, looking forward to your reply, ty!

    • @RedFoxCrypto
      @RedFoxCrypto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RedFoxCrypto So far I have eight 3070s, two 1660 Supers and two 2060s. They're all doing great. The 2060s have become completely different GPUs under Hive (32.30 MH / s at 70 W compared to 125 W under Windows).
      The availability and price of the 1660 Ti is similar to the 1660 Super. It's also a good option. Do you think the 3070 Ti will be the better option in the long term? I saw it can do 46.15 MH / s at 148 W (ETH) and like you showed 39.24 MH / s at 231 W (RVN) which shows that even from today's point of view mining RVN is the better option for the 3070 Ti. Hey Red Panda! I'm building a rig right now which includes 3070ti's and powered from a 1200w HP psu. I noticed you only have 1 pcie cable from the breakout board split for the gpu and I had a question about that.
    I read that a 6 pin pcie from a breakout board can only carry 216w. Is that true?
    I had planned to have 1 pcie from breakout board to 8pin in gpu and then second pcie from breakout board to splitter which then goes to second 8 pin in gpu and other end to the riser.
    Let me know if I'm just misinformed or bonkers?

    hey Fox, you say power cables are very important, your gpu risers seems fine but i see you plug your GPUs with 8 pin pigtails.
    and from what i've heard over the internet, those 8 pin pigtails are rated for 175 to 180 Watts, and you run your GPUs at 215-230 Watts...
    Are you sure you dont need 2 x 8 pin cable per GPU ?

    hey there! my question is, are you using a splitter to power your gpus? 8 pin can power 150W, but while mining raven that can be dangerous since it might draw 190W and it will overload the cables, am I wrong? I'm not sure if I should get a splitter or a 8pin to 8pin cable and connect directly to the PSU

    • @RedFoxCrypto
      @RedFoxCrypto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey dude! Yeah these cards can draw a lot. The limit for an 8-pin is 288w so it's al little tight using a single PCIe split to power both 8-pin. What i'd actually recommend is splitting a single strand between the 8-pin and riser (150+75=225w max) and then using another single PCIe strand to power the remaining 8-pin.

      Someone once told me "fans are cheap and easy to replace, GPUs are not" and I've lived by that since, especially with the heat from GDDR6X mem. I run a lot of them at 80%, but I have rigs running 100% 24/7.

    Why didn't you try lock-cclock in T-Rex? That would likely being the power down a bit more. I'm saving about 10W per 3070 with locked clocks via Hive and with my single 3070 in my working PC under Linux.

      This script works on linux but you can adjust it for Windows. I believe you can use T-Rex's mclock option to set mem overclock on windows and bypass MSI Afterburner completely! On my regular 3070s They pull 135-140W (no limit set) for 30.1MH on RVN. I'm sure that absolute clocks would cut down the power draw on the 3070ti too.
