    I will always have that image of the time Kobe and Dwight Howard were meeting at halfcourt with refs before the start of finals game (magic at Lakers) to shake hands. Dwight was goofing off and had a huge smile on his face trying to get Kobe to laugh, but Kobe was just standing there with no emotions looking Dwight dead in his eyes. Kobe ended up killing the magic.

      Riley Dinkleman Dwight was just teasing Kobe because he was very serious. Howard’s mindset was probably joyous and delighted to be in an NBA Finals. Bryant’s mindset was “I’ve been here before, last two times I was here, I didn’t get it done. I’m not allowing that to happen again”. Then, he proceeded to win in 5 games, averaging 32/6/7.

    The relationship failed not just because of personality differences but that both of them were chasing greatness. It was always doomed to fail, Shaq was perceived as the alpha and the best player but he did not have the same skill or work ethic as Kobe and this infuriated him. Kobe wanted to prove he was the best player in the world, the air apparent to Jordan, in his mind to even exceed him and this was always going to be impossible to achieve under the shadow of the Big Aristotle, if Shaq did not leave Kobe would have. He had to prove he could win without Shaq, which he did.

      Even more FBI investigations on refs giving them championships?
      Plus they already accomplished losing against transitioning (the exact year when only Tim Duncan was prominent) Spurs and being a lucky OT close to getting swept in the finals and with old Mailman and old the Glove against Pistons, in those two more years together after David Stern and audience's championship.

      Angie Natoyn shaq n Kobe did reach their potential 3 peat. ... 2003 duncan beat it out of them and 2004 pistons beat it out of them. So something had to change .. remember u can only stay on top of the sports world for so long b4 the next man comes and knocks u off ...thats the history of sports

    • @robertopics
      @robertopics 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they maxed out but that level could've/should've have lasted a bit longer. Shaq was unwilling to pass the torch and Kobe was just too focused on becoming the alpha dog. Had Kobe been more patient, and O'Neal more humble they could have won the series against the pistons. But the rape charges, Kobe's Lone wolf mentality, and O'Neal's bully, lazy approach made things worse.

    Kobe is a top10 player of all time, but I got Shaq in my Top5. If Kobe had the lack of talent around him that Iverson had in Philly he would’ve never won a championship. Philly picked the right guy in the 1996 NBA draft.

      DaaBoys2138 fuck no!!! kobe is way better than shaq and A.I. he more skilled player harder worker and most importantly never backed down from anybody ... 76ers just were too big of pussies to take a chance on 17 yr old kid from thier own city who used to ball them up while he was in high school practicing with 76ers ... so u guys drafted a player who complain about working hard in practice. Lol lol no rings since 1983 and u think he was the right player to draft. Lol lol

    • @jldp24
      @jldp24 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shaq and kobe are top 10. Shaq could be higher. Kobe has more skill..is a MJ clone.. but let's get real...all those attributes mean nothing ..its the out put. Shaq was dominant..you build teams around shaq..ppl forget this. Kobe had to have great skill..he was 6foot 6..210. Shaq was 7 foot..300...he was dominant..more dominant than any player in thr 90s and 000s. Its not am argument.

      I'm not a big Kobe fan, but I gotta agree with Jon on the point that Kobe became a better player than AI because of his work ethic, playing as hard in practice as in the games. He might not have won a championship in Philly, but he still would rank above AI.

    Kobe and Shaq should have stayed together or at least reunited. Like 2011, Shaq coming off the bench for Bynum would have been a good mentorship for the young center.
    But then thinking how Shaq likes the attention and Kobe being obsessed with the game... Unfortunately ☹️ those 3 years are the best years of my life as a Laker fan
