    Bro, I really do like your videos.
    Its soothing.
    One day I want to take apart my 2.5R and get a 3.3 as well.
    I ended up wondering why my traxxas wont shift, the shift screw is missing.
    is it worth tearing it all apart... or should I just put a new screw in and send it? haha

    • @thebug4046
      @thebug4046  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks very much for the kind words I appreciate it and if you can buy just a screw then absolutely replace it it's probably floating around in the bottom of your transmission somewhere they're not really hard to take apart you can only put them together one way but if you feel the need you could always go with a brand new transmission if you felt like it up to you completely and engineering builds are really simple I have lots of other videos explaining it kind of better than this one. that are full rebuild videos

    You remind me of John candy. Or the AAMCO guy from Curb your enthusiasm (Mike Hagerty). Now for serious stuff…do you monitor engine temps at all? Wondering what device you use if any.

    • @thebug4046
      @thebug4046  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha that's awesome! And running temperature? Occasionally when doing break in to be sure I'm up over 200°f and after that rarely ever. Mostly out of curiosity.

    Is it ok if I clean the engine block with just water and if so how do you stop it from rusting on the inside?

    • @thebug4046
      @thebug4046  ปีที่แล้ว

      Just water won't do anything just use brake parts cleaner it's way easier and it actually removes grease and oil. You could flush the engine with that too just make sure to oil all moving parts Just follow one of my other rebuild videos I have several of them

  • @NuarStanger

    You might need to cut back on the coffee a liiiiitle bit there bug lol
    Another awesome video!
    Do you think those old cranks are salvagable? Can that surface rust be cleaned up so they can be reused?

    • @thebug4046
      @thebug4046  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was one of those days we're kind of I shouldn't have really been filming but I decided to anyways just being anxious and wanting to get things done. And yeah you can clean the old cranks up if you want. All you really need is just a brass brush in some WD40 and then clean everything up really well

    • @NuarStanger
      @NuarStanger ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thebug4046 cool, i got a couple of 3.3s that I got cheap and the cranks look a little similar. I'll try to clean them up. Thanks man.

    Hello Bug, I would of like to message you, but I cannot on this platform, I did a bone head move, I have cut many crankshafts for my RC10's... I had a new Megatech 16 in the box I bought around 2002?... I just cut the shaft to fit in one of my RC10's, and I did not use the spacer that came with the block, so my clutch bell and spur gear are not lining up wright. I found one online new in the package pre cut, and its the same size of the one I cut! WTF! I would like to send pictures but there is no option to....

    Bug
    Is there any difference in the 2.5 and 2.5r heads except the color?

    • @thebug4046
      @thebug4046  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The silver colored cylinder head is dycast the blue one is CNC machined but the squish bound area and combustion chamber volume are both the same. As is the piston and sleeve and everything else in both engines are identical even the part numbers are all the same other than the cylinder heads when they try to tell you that the 2.5R has different port timing it doesn't. Same timing numbers

    Good video. Doing this to my 2.5. What are the bearing part numbers for the 3.3 crank in the 2.5 block?

    • @thebug4046
      @thebug4046  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Go on Acer bearings website and order a set for a 2.5 or 3.3 it doesn't matter they both use the same bearings. Then just put a 3.3 crank in it. No mods or special parts required. 👊🏻🍻💯
