Shes 9 here. However if you want to step into the twilight zone and question reincarnation see her in the recording studio age 6 I WHO HAVE NOTHING. ..do not miss her excitement in the begining as she hits a certain bit. Then as shes speaking to the sound engineer in Norweigan you remember shes singing and reading english. Shes 6 ... a different breed. Oh and no one in her family sings or plays an instrument. They refused to sign her until she was 14 and Republic agreed not to push her out till she finished school. They let her perform in concerts in the school holidays. And gift her fans with a huge catalogue of free music on Utube.

As you go deeper down the rabbit hole, you begin to realize that a lot of today's singers can't even hold a candle to her. Her vocal talent and artistry is just on a different level. I'm in my 50's, but have listened to all types of music from the 50's to today's music, and she has already become one of my top singers to listen to and she's only 17 (turning 18 in about 5 days). Never in a million years did I think one of my favorite singers is still a teen! Angelina Jordan has IT. No lie!

Seven years ago, TH-cam tried to tell me there's a 7-year-old kid in Norway covering a song so infamous that it was banned by the BBC for most of the 20th century . . . . in the style of Billie Holiday! Her covers of Elvis' Suspicious Minds is a different take on it, Whitney's I Have Nothing, her EP "Old Enough" (especially, Now I'm the Fool, Good in Goodbyes, and Diamond are show stoppers. I had exactly Uncle AJ’s reaction to this in April 2022, and I was watching it alone with no introduction to who is Angelina Jordan. I could not finish the video without seeking professional vocal coach reaction videos to learn whether it was authentic (not an adult dubbed over or some AI).
AJ, it is really is hard to process that it is her singing at first.

Well, apparently I have been living under my rock, what a jazz baby! So much talent in her little self, yet she seems to have a reputation of being angelic in other ways as well. What an amazing basket of gifts to be born with (and she has worked very hard to honor her gifts), I noticed that I am going to watch this four more times; she held my attention for this run. Guys, she was 9 went she recorded "I Put a Spell on You". Believe this or not she change some of the lyrics before recording "Spell on U". That was the note handed to the Band Director, who name her the "Boss"! Angelina arranges all her covers and also writes her on music to enhance the song her way! It looks like both of you have fallen into the Angelina Rabbit Hole , with the rest of her Fans she calls her "Angels". I suggest to you take a look at "Norway has talent " Show which she won at 7 going on 8 yrs old, the video when viral on line worldwide!

It’s worth listening to the original first and appreciating her cooperation with the band in a live jamming session where she gives her input to the music along the way.

Great reaction. Don't worry, I'm a diehard fan since her audition in 2014, and your feelings are all totally legitimate. We've all been there. No one will be surprised. After you get a few more young AJ songs under your belts, you get over the age thing and just enjoy these covers no matter how old she is. Everyone of these vocal arrangements are her interpretations of these songs and each one is just perfection. Quincy Jones says she reminds him of young MJ.
She'll be 18 on January 10th. A true gift to the world. Almost sad to see her become adult AJ. Young AJ was so stupendous.

The innocence and and freedom of this rendition can never be matched. She's singing directly from her soul without a second thought - it's all done by instinct. Well, yes, there is an previously agreed upon arrangement but, as with all great artists, Angelina and the backup musicians feed from each other to create this stunning recording. I don't think it'll be as good if she gave this song another visit at her present age - but I might be totally wrong.
She started singing when she was 1 and a half years old and when she was about 3 years old, she started to sing a lot of jazz classics. She wanted to take part in Norway's Got Talent when she was 5 years old but her parents didn't allow her to take part until she was 7 years old. She was just six years old when she was in a professional music studio the first time , singing several challenging songs there. Her grandmother is a quite well known painter and a poet and they have a very special bond between them, Angelina and her. Her grandmother herself was also seen as a kind of prodigy when she was really young. Angelina is not just a singer, she really knows what she wants from musicians and arrangement etc.

Her grandmother was an artistic prodigy, so I think it was more evident to them that she had a special gift. This allowed her to hone her talent early on. She is extremely talented. I have only been following her for about 2 years, but I have pretty much listened to her everyday since I first found her. There is not one single bad performance. She covers all genres of music. She also has some really great originals out there.
You guys are a hoot! Great reaction to my (and many others) adopted grand daughter. I’m 74 and remember watching Jay Hawkins in 1956. I also watched Elvis first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show. Angelina will turn 18 on the tenth of this January and is already the single most advance singer I’ve ever witnessed in my life!

If you think she is good in studio she is absolutely amazing live. Saw her in London at the 85th birthday concert for Quincy Jones. She wasn't on the program but Quincy Jones asked her to open the show, singing fly me to the moon in the same arrangement Quincy wrote for Frank Sinatra.She was 10 or 11. Wanted to see her again, but because of Covid she could not do her concerts in Norway. Then last year watched her live in Norway - standing 10feet from the stage. Her stage presence quite unbelievable. She sang 18 songs. Then this year went to Portsmouth NH to see her in concert. Sold out concert - just amazing.

I have probably watched over 100 reactions videos of this recording and they all said How? How? How? I said it myself when I first listened to it. She was cautioned by her musical teachers at school she was attending no vocal coaches because they agreed that they wouldn't change her singing because of her original style, but they taught her how to not damage and how to manage her voice in later renditions of this song she toned down the growls and screams in it.

"I put a spell on you" is a performance which is almost obligatory for Reactors to see, and it was heart-warming for me, and I am certain for all of her "Angels", to see you trying to make sense of how a 9-year-old child could perform such an iconic song so realistically. We completely understand that you wonder "how" as we have the same problem when watching and listening to many of her performances On a personal note, I laboured for a long time to try and find an answer to the question but in the end the only way I could achieve a sense of peace was to accept it was possible because it was "Angelina" singing.

Gentleman, Ms. Jordan began practicing singing for four to six hours a day starting at five years old, to perfect her tone and technique. By the time of this performance at nine, she was well on her way to masterclass level. Ms. Jordan is one of the most documented humans of our era, her growth and development has lead to much speculation on the "how is this possible" thinking, but then comes the realization that prodigies have always been among us. Great reaction guys! Not that it makes any real difference whether she was 7 or 8 or 9 or 10 or 11 or what ever age, this is a fantastic version and performance! YESTERDAY I saw for the first time the official cover info for this video. The date on the cover info is Feb. 4 2015!! That means she did this not at 9 years and 2 months as many of us have been saying for years, but SHE DID THIS AT 25 DAYS INTO HER 9th YEAR!!!!
Thank you for featuring Angelina again. I hope you will do many more reactions to her, as she is well worth every nanosecond you spend on her. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on TH-cam, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener.
I'm delighted that you recognised that it was Angelina's tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). I was into my teenage years at the time. She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original.
There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. Another Angelina "Angel" has pointed out something else which I had missed, and it is added at (l) below,
(a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled.
(b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers.
(c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it.
(d) The smile on the face of the Bass player.
(e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine"
(f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand. Possibly to remind herself of the last minute changes she wanted.
(g) Her unwavering passion throughout the performance. Evidenced by her facial expressions and the way she uses her hands and body to emphasise the direction of the song.
(h) The way she takes a breath just before she starts the last phrase (I don't care.....) and that breath lasts the whole of that sustained note. A child of that age should not have the ability to hold a note for that length of time.
(i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word
(j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody.
(k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying.
(l) The performance absolutely is powerful and raw but to me, I am amazed that this is balanced by the profound beauty of the ending phrase; the last twelve words of the song. AND… they are essentially sung a cappella!
Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.
