- Thanks for joining We Ain’t Raised Right Podcast! In the last couple of months we’ve received dozens of requests to react to Angelina Jordan. We finally did and we were nearly knocked off our chairs! We reacted to Feeling Good, originally performed by Michael Buble, and we simply couldn’t believe our eyes! How could a 10 year old sound this amazing?! We hope you enjoy our reaction to this phenom!

Hi Fellows, wonderful reaction and your shock and respect is what we all feel for Angelina. One piece of information, Angelina is almost certainly not deaf in one ear. That rumor comes from one piece written a long time ago that was filled with other mistakes about Angelina. Certainly rumored deafness has nothing to do with why she sings barefoot. If you look more into Angelina (and you really should) you will discover why she has pledged to always sing barefoot. It has to do with a profound experience she had when she was 6 and her commitment to childrens' charity work and addessing global childrens' poverty. In fact, she wrote a children's book about it (with illustrations by her grandmother, a highly regarded artist) and became the youngest author ever in Norway. Angelina has helped to raise millions of dollars for childrens' charities through her singing.
Angelina's book is so well written that I see it as a book for all ages.
Yes Andrew, it is hilarious. Some idiot saw an "Earpiece" in her ear (you know, like all singers and performers use) and decided it was a hearing aid....those folks are out there and perpetrate

In the future, you might want to point out that the deaf-in-one-ear thing was probably getting her confused with another Republic Records artist, Jessie J, who has had hearing problems in one of her ears. (I say this because it was also erroneously reported that Angelina has played Carnegie Hall. She hasn't, of course, but Jessie J has.)
@@DonaldLancon She has performed at the O2 arena in London when invited to Quincy Jones birthday, and he said she is the best performer since Michael Jackson. And she opened for Norah Jones in Seoul infront of 40,000 spectators.

Fellas.....Angelina is a whole huge bunch of Wonderful Things....But.....SHE IS NOT DEAF IN ONE EAR.
Guys, she has “range”. More range than you can possibly imagine! In fact, even at age 10, she has vocal tools in her toolbox that she can pull out on demand. But she’s an artist. She is selective, and only uses what is needed to bring out the emotion in the song. She doesn’t do stuff to show off, she imparts the emotion. Watch more of her work, and you will only grow in admiration of the subtle artistry of Angelina Jordan!
Yeah she doesn't "go for it" all that much. But hey we better be sure to send these guys in that direction out of her like 200 reaction worthy videos I guess, at least somewhat, she'll get to them either way.
@adairmartin There is nothing extraordinary about Angelina's vocal range. It's about 3 octaves, give or take a semi-tone. On par with Adele, Barbara Streisand.

Boy, are you guys in for a treat with Angelina! If you think this is impressive, check out her performances from Norway's Got Talent when she was 7! She won that season and you guys need to see them. By the time she did this performance, professional singers said she had already reached the Master Class for singing. By they way, videos you see of her at any age, she did her own arranging if her singing wasn't impressive enough!

I'm not going to try to add anything! It is 4 hours after you released the video and there are 98 comments, mostly detailed ones. This girl-becoming-woman has generated as passionate a fan base as you will find! It is because she is a stellar person and because, when she sings, she conveys the emotion and the meaning of the song better than any artist that I have ever heard!
The next Angelina performance you should react to is her nine year old performance of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ 1956 song, “I Put a Spell On You”. Be prepared to have your mind blown. Removal of your socks is recommended only because Angelina will blow them off.

Angelina was absolutely amazing at 7 and she improved at a rapid pace from there. At 10 she had lost all signs of a "child voice". She has so many great performances, in many genres at 10, AND THEN she improved every step of the way to current. BTW, she is not deaf in one ear. Angelina is a Norwegian born child prodigy in music. She's a singer/ songwriter who's arranged over 180 covers and 12 originals, all since the age of 7. Angelina began singing at 18 months old. At 2, she began teaching herself how to sing, focusing primarily on the jazz masters of decades gone by. These are artists such as Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and Etta James. She is from Norway...she won their version of got talent at 7/8....and has been putting out unbelievable music since. She appeared on A GT at 13 preforming Bohemian Rhapsody...she is putting out her own music now. Nina Simone was the gold standard and can't believe I am saying this, but Angelina's version is now my favorite
She has a huge range. Already at 12 years old she was able to sing a song in the same key as Elvis (How Great Thou Art). And at 9 years old she sang a pretty high, long note in Unchained Melody (the video was uploaded on YT 4 years ago). She also has tons of different tones and singing techniques. No other child singer has ever been this versatile.

*Why Angelina always performs barefoot*
At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.
Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Thanks for your reaction! She is only 17 years old today and from Norway. She signed with the label Republic Records just 14 years old, I think we can safely leave the promotion to Republic Record. Marketing will start when they are ready. There's only one EP with 6 songs she's released from Republic Record.. Republic Records know 100% what they are doing? I think a lot of people don't realize how much Angelina has done in her short life (17). She performed FIFA AWARD song, and performed in front of 40 000 people only 11 years old invited by Norah Jones. She was also specially invited by Quincy Jones to perform on his 85th birthday in the O2 arena / London. And so on goes the list... She has over 250 songs on TH-cam with cover songs and many originals. Angelina also plays piano and guitar.
The truth is that within a year or two she will be the artist for the big occasions. and not a "plastic artist" who tops a list for a week and is forgotten just as quickly. When she sometimes belts is it because the fits in the performances. She sings to us only she can do!
Angelina recently had a sold-out concert in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where there was an audience from many different country all the way from Australia and from 39 different states in the USA.

She signed with Republic Records at age 14 with the proviso that she be allowed to finish school before being heavily promoted - which is in the process of happening. In addition to also 200 covers she has recorded Angelina has been writing songs since she was 10 years 0ld - So far 12 have been released: Oslo, What is Life?, Shield, Million Miles, 7th Heaven, Love Don't Let Me Go, Now I'm The Fool, Fire and Rain, All My Fault, Good in Goodbyes, Diamond, and Our Time. Angelina has stated that she has written about 100 songs that have yet to be released. Her songs are taken from her Journal writings. When she was 10/11 she rewrote the Lyrics to Amy Winehouse's Back to Black and Rehab to make them more age appropriate at that time.

Also, the reason the band is “blasting over her voice” is that this is a live performance at a fundraiser concert in Norway. I don’t think you’ll find any effect used in the recording.
“The barefoot princess” was traveling in the Middle East when she was six years old. She came across a girl her age, that was weighing people on the street to earn money. The girl did not have shoes, so Angelina gave her her own boots (favorite boots apparently). She asked what the girl wanted to become when she was grown up. The girl answered that she wanted to become a doctor and asked Angelina what she wanted to become. Angelina answered a star singer. The girl then told Angelina she would manage that.
After that episode, Angelina decided not to wear shoes on stage until all children could afford shoes. She also wrote a book about this story and in doing so became the youngest published author in Norway at the age of nine. ❤

NOTE: Angelina has arranged her version and makes last minute alterations that receives nods of approval by the producer. She then receives from her grandmother a candle in a glass with Jay Hawkins’ picture on it, signaling that her performance is a tribute to him. ❤
Her range, that you commented on, goes from low growling to a high pitched whistle scream. The “hey, hey, hey - watch out!” Sequence is Jay Hawkins’ only replacing his explosive smoke device on stage with a saxophone blast.
The last part is sung a cappella, pitch perfect, with a vibrato!

She has class, something sorely lacking in today's entertainment. She is humble to a fault, and we love her like family.
You will no doubt be informed of the true story behind why she sings shoeless, ( it is a beautiful and heartwarming story, which she wrote a book about at age 9 "Between Two Hearts" becoming the youngest published author in Norway ). In a nutshell, she sings barefoot to remind herself that there are less fortunate people in the world.

There's a simple explanation, she's Norwegian. That Viking longboat was appropriate for the barefoot angel of Oslo. Yesterday, Dec. 8, Angelina released a bunch of Christmas songs. Try her version of Chris Rea's, "Driving Home for Christmas", and if you like Elvis, Angelina's reworked version of "Suspicious Minds" from 2022 when she was 16. That's a music video and you can see what she looks and sounds like now, as well as her two baby cousins and her sister Juliette!
Angelina is Norwegian born. She had just turned eight years old when she won Norway’s Got Talent. Angelina is currently seventeen years old and she will be turning eighteen on January 10th. She has a catalogue of over 200 covers and original songs. She signed with Republic Records in August of 2020, when she was fourteen years old. She wrote her debut single, “Million Miles” soon after her grandfather passed away in November of 2019. “Million Miles is her tribute to her grandfather and everyone that has lost their loved ones. It was released in November of 2020.
She wrote, composed and recorded four songs by the time she was twelve years old. She has been writing the arrangements to the covers she sings since she was seven years old. She released her debut EP this past summer.

Angelina is not simply another Phenom. she is THE PHENOM. Bet of all time male or female.
Oh boy, you are going to be bombarded by her fans called Angels that will fill you in on this music prodigy with an old soul from Norway. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Even though she has been compared by many to Amy Winehouse, her major influence is Billie Holiday. Other influences are Dinah Washington, Louis Armstrong, and Etta James to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. In 2014, she entered at age 7 and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, " Wow, what a rendition!" For Queen to respond to someone covering one of their songs is quite a feat since they rarely react to anyone . Not only that, but she received the copyrights for her version of this song from Queen, which makes it hers now. She did not win, but her fan base grew and expanded her popularity.
Now 17 years old, living in Los Angeles, and currently signed with Republic Records, whose clients include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Drake to name a few. Her family and Republic Records had agreed not to heavily promote her just yet so she can live as normal of a life as possible and finish her schooling. From what we know, she is finally done with school. She had a single that came out May 5th called Love Don't Let Me Go, a new EP called Old Enough that came out Friday, July 21st, a newly released video of her new song called Now I'm The Fool, and a new album of original music which will be coming out later this year. Angelina just recently released her new single, Our Time, and is fantastic! She returned back to Norway and performed at a number of sold out concerts in which fans from around the world came to see her. Many of the fans there said she sounded better live in person and was a once in a lifetime experience. On September 22, 2023, Angelina had her first U.S. concert that sold out in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a poor shoeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. The girl then asked Angelina what her dreams were, Angelina answered that she wanted to sing for the whole world, and the girl said she would pray for her success. Since then, Angelina has performed barefoot in honor of that little girl and to those who are less fortunate around the world. She keeps this promise to this day. One of the reasons why we love her so much!

Thank you for discovering Angelina. In my opinion, she is the best singer in the world, and there are thousands of others who would agree with me. Every moment you spend featuring her on your channel will being you great emotional satisfaction.
There are so many things I get from this performance. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed.
(1) The realisation that at the age of 10 Angelina has shed all childishness from her voice.
(2) A feeling that the placement of the spotlight at the beginning of her performance was deliberate. If it was, then, to my mind, it was a brilliant move.
(3) The fact that Angelina arranged this song and that the band kept out of the way and let her voice be the focus.
(4) The incredible low note she sang for the word "good" at the beginning and end of the performance.
(5) That wonderful crescendo at the end.
(6) The was Angelina used her left arm and hand throughout the performance
(7) The way she changed the microphone from her right hand to left hand, so that she could flip her hair back with her right hand.
(8) The cheeky smile she gave to the cameraman when she realised he had focused on her at about 2.56 in your reaction video.
(9) The sideways look and grin she gives to her instrumentalists just after she curtsies to the audience -- as if to say, "Yeah, we killed it, guys! Now let's go get some ice cream!"
(10) The almost instantaneous switch from "performance" mode to that of a young child who, curtseyed and gave a sweet smile to the audience as an acknowledgement of their applause.
Others have commented that the performance by Nina Simone should be considered the "gold" standard for this song. Until recently, I had never watched her performance, but have now done so. They just cannot be compared, for Angelina's arrangement is totally different

She did an amazing full concert summer ⛱️ tour with a part of this band, especially the Brass group in the following summer at the age of 11y. Who others can stand this? Yes Angelina can belt, she can go extremely low, she has incredible vibrato, can sing breathy, can do amazing runs. So many details and nuances in her voice but she only does what’s necessary for the song or to tell the story. It’s never a “look what I can do” performance.
Why she performs barefoot is a very touching story. She wrote a book about it at 9 years old and became the youngest published author in Norway. There is a TV interview where she talks about it. Fans can provide a link.i saw that you posted text that said you know that it’s because she’s deaf in one ear. That is not true. There are some bogus articles that claim she’s deaf and even some that supposedly say she’s Elvis’s granddaughter.
Fans will give you a lot of information about Angelina.
What will blow you away is that at 10 she was kind of a veteran at performing already

She is 17 now you cannot define her she is the most predictably unpredictably brilliant singer out there. btw this is a charity event benefitting Plan International Norway, a Norwegian Charity supporting children. It is called "The Stream gir tilbake (= gives back)" because finalists from “The Stream” (Norwegian TV song contest similar to “American Idol” or “the voice”) performed there. In order to gain more attention for the good cause, renowned artists - including Angelina Jordan - took part in the event, which was broadcast live on TV nationwide. Fun fact: most of "The Stream" finalists were double Angelina's age (at least), Angelina was the youngest of the established artists on this event.

Not deaf. She doesn't wear shoes because when she was six whole traveling in the Middle East, she met a homeless girl. After some conversation, the girl complimented her shoes, and Angelina noticed she didn't have any. She gave her her shoes, and has sworn off wearing shoes when she performs as a reminder of those less fortunate. She has donated millions of her winnings/earnings to children's charities. The Barefoot Princess!
