I’ve been following Angelina for 5 or 6 years. She never mimics any other singer. She always pays respect to the original artists, but there is no mistaking Angelina’s voice. I don’t think this sounds like Whitney’s terrific original. This is Angelina giving us the depth and richness of her lower register-and yes, even with the sustained belting, Angelina shows the effortlessness we see in all her covers or originals.
If you want to stick with more recent Angelina, definitely go for her stunning cover of Elvis’s Suspicious Minds. It’s a perfect example of Angelina honoring the original Elvis version but giving us something we never expected or could imagine. Angelina doesn't mimic Whitney, she captures the essence of Whitney (or whoever she is covering) & then she adds her jazzy touches to make it her own. I think if you go back & forth between the original & this, line by line, as I have, you will hear all the differences. She sings this in a slightly lower key than Whitney because Angelina is a contralto (love her low notes) & Whitney was a soprano. A few years ago I saw a video of Whitney at 12 singing in a church, she was good, but not even in the same league as Angelina at the same age. Just sayin'!!! Btw, she is 16 in this (18 now), so even though she's still a teenager, she looks like a woman in her early 20's to me, so now you don't have the mind blowing dichotomy of hearing a grown woman's voice come out of a little kids mouth.

I have been on this earth for now 76 years and experienced great vocalist but none the likes of Angelina Jordan. It is not just her unique voice it is her total being that moves me and others like no one else can. AJ has the rare talent to translate and manipulate a song so that it penetrates what we refer to as a soul. Whitney singing “I Have Nothing” never affected me like AJ version does.
So far everything I have experienced in regards AJ is absolute perfection. What you point out as being flat in certain parts of the song I just did not see or hear. I have been on this earth for now 76 years and experienced great vocalist but none the likes of Angelina Jordan. It is not just her unique voice it is her total being that moves me and others like no one else can. AJ has the rare talent to translate and manipulate a song so that it penetrates what we refer to as a soul. Whitney singing “I Have Nothing” never affected me like AJ version does.
Angelina is what I call a Vocal Sculptress. She uses lyrics like a lump of clay, bending and shaping each word till they are no longer just words but actual emotions.
No lip-syncing here or on ANY of her live or taped recordings, something that cannot be said for almost ANY singer today.
It is time others are compared to Angelina and not the opposite.
To blow your mind go watch her concert from Las Vegas a month ago or even her Nobel Peace Prize song Unchained Melody. She takes it up a notch and shows why she is the best singer currently out there.

Gentlemen, AJ is from Norway and is residing in LA since age 12. She learned early the English language, because her dad is an international working engineer. For example, she lived with her mom and dad in Teheran when she met the famous barefoot girl. AJ speaks 6 languages and plays for sure piano and guitar. As she started practicing her craft around age 3, she has more experience, than most 30 to forty year old singers.

Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California is Angelina's A&R person, and he has been working with AJ since she signed with the largest record company in the world at the age of 14, three years ago. Rob was the MC of AJ Christmas Show that aired Dec 23, of 21. AJ’s Christmas Show that live-streamed on Dec 23 of 21 had some of the most important musicians of our time: Frank Sinatra's drummer for 6 years, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field has won 9 Grammys, and the bass player, Chuck Berghofer who also played for Sinatra for 6 years, and toured with Barbara Streisand, accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra, to name a few. The main pianist, a five-time nominated for Grammys, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for. Rob Christie Republic Records Studio Director at Universal Music Group Manhattan Beach, California played the guitar, and was the MC of the show. (I can't list the complete backgrounds on all the band members because it would take several pages to do them justice.) This is a 16-year-old being compared to a 30ish old singer also her most popular versions is actually a movie backing with no telling how many takes so its even crazy to compare, i have listened to many of Whitney's concert versions and belive me its not the same as this. When you experience AJ’s versatility there is only one conclusion that can be made, she is the GREATEST of all time there is no one else to compare her to.
She turned 18 on Jan 10th 24 and is over 6 feet tall and still growing in stature and ethereal talent.
She will draw you in like no one in this universe can in each and every performance and create a need that only she can satisfy.

This is the sound of the rehearsal, not from the performance, no one has published the live performance with good sound like this is. AJ's voice was mixed after the rehearsal, so the instruments did not drown her out. I have seen the original recordings of the rehearsal and you can hardly hear AJ's voice. This was performed during the early summer of 2022 (June I believe) at age 16-1/2 in a Los Angeles upscale antique store, presumably owned by a friend of the family. She's done two others there as well -- Elvis' "Suspicious Minds" and the 1930's classic "My Funny Valentine." She performed this same song again in July of that same summer at Norway/Sweden's "Alsang pa Grensen" ("Sing-along on the Border") music festival, looking and sounding absolutely stunning on stage, as she does here (same gown I think)! You should see that one too! Same song but totally different outdoor venue and vibe! She's lived in L.A. since age 12, and it was her first time to be back in her Norwegian homeland since prior to Cuckoo Covid! Sidenote: She doesn't mimic. She respects the original and its artist, but she definitely makes every song her own style. Born in Oslo, Norway, on January 10, 2006, she is now 18.

Hey guys! Finally another AJ reaction. She's not mimicking the sound of English- she was fluent in Norwegian, Farsi and English by age 6. I believe she also speaks 2 or 3 other languages. She's not mimicking Whitney, she's paying tribute to her and sharing her passion for this song and one of her idols. Angelina plays at least 4 instruments (guitar, violin, flute and piano) and has always done her own vocal arrangements and has written many many amazing songs. Calling her a mimic is actually pretty insulting and actually really pisses Angels off. But I'll forgive you as long as I don't have to wait another 3 to 4 months before you do another AJ reaction. I think you should watch her 4 songs on Norways Got Talent- age 7 & 8 next. But soon, not 4 months from now. Peace and love!

There is a mashup of AJ and Whitney by BigAngieFan you could check out for s**ts and giggles. Also, "mimic" is a no-no for Angelina fans. She DOESN'T try to sound as much like the original as she can. Homage, yes; mimic, no. She's been speaking English for over a decade by this time and living in the USA for about 4 years. She speaks it well. Angelina is known as "the girl of 1,000 voices". If you check out "My Funny Valentine" and "Suspicious Minds" also at age 16 (and, coincidentally, in the same antique store), you will hear much different presentations (although her low register is still on great display, especially in Suspicious Minds). I think a couple of you guys get her pretty spot on, at least one of you needs to listen to a little more to truly appreciate her talent. No diss intended. I enjoy your banter.

Just a few clarifications. This video was released in July 2022 so Angelina was 16.
Not really sure where you heard that when Angelina performs covers that she doesn’t try to make them her own. That’s actually far from the truth. She may pay homage to the original artist but she never tries to do a direct copy. She will many times completely change the arrangement as in her covers of Bohemian Rhapsody, Suspicious Minds and Beat It among others. Yes there has been some mimicking in the past but primarily when she was a little girl. I actually don’t hear Whitney’s voice in this recording at all.
Regarding an accent, Angelina has never really had an accent when speaking English , even as a young girl back home in Norway. (Angelina was fluent in English at a very young age) In fact, now that she has lived in LA since she was 12, when she speaks today she pretty much sounds like a typical California teenager.

She actually is Norwegian/English bilingual, also speaks some Japanese, Swedish and Farsi due to her Grandpa was Japanese and grandma is Iranian. This is totally Angelina. I'll give an example. Angelina is an evolutionary leap in talent. I'm 60 years old, born and raised in Motown. I've never seen or heard anything like her. She's just different.

Yes Angelina does always pay proper respect to any song she uncovers, yes uncovers because she doesn't just cover a song. When she sings a song that she hasn't written , it's unmistakably Angelina jordan and no one else. The only thing I disagree is Angelina mimic someone else. I don't agree she does. And the magic of Angelina is she can touch people's heart like no one else. Whitney included in the opinion of this biased Angel.
I've heard other reactors say she was a perfect mimic when younger... I've always disagreed with that assertion. Angelina is a genius vocalist, there is no mimicry were her singing is concerned.

Angelina is not mimicking - she has been speaking English since about 5 yrs old - she has been living in Los Angeles on more or less a permanent basis since 2018. She can easily slide between English and Norwegian - and also speaks a little bit and understands a few other languages.

Angelina does a lot of covers of famous songs, BUT, she ALWAYS makes the cover her own version. She has covered Adele at 14 years old, also and did it better than Adele. Look up Angelina’s version of Easy On Me, she takes it to a higher level than Adele. Plus Angelina has several original songs that she has written and co written. Shield at age 12, 7th Heaven at 14 years old , Million Miles (live in studio) black and white video at 14 also. And a few more.
