To be 100 percent honest when i saw the FIRST SHOT of a, I thought “this is gonna be hard”. As SOON AS. I saw the FIRDT SHOT of CAMERA B, it was IMMEDIATELY EVIDENT that it was in the Komodo X. When it got to the dark shots and i saw how much more dynamic range camera b had, it was nail in the coffin.

This was the dopest most honest review! I like you did this without having to trash the OG. Like your the first I saw who didn’t trash the OG while also bigging up the X. I got my OG and I’m loving it. Once the budget gets better I can pull a trigger on the X soon. But image wise you can do a lot with the Komodo and I’d really be getting the more the higher frame rates than for the image. Thanks brother keep pushing 🙏🏽

Or keep the og and get a high speed camera with it rather than have just the komodo x for the cost difference
Cam A is OG because of the greenish tint and Komodo X is a bit more to magenta. if you know this you see it in seconds. But for your shots i like the OG more
Camera B is the Komodo x you can tell by the skin tones. I’ll probably pick up the OG first then the X later so I can dip into the Red realm
I caught that the X was B solely cause of the skin tones mainly
Day shots I preferred A, night I preferred B by just a little.
Did they fix the problem with unplugging and adding peripherals like monitors etc so it doesnt cause an electrical surge??
no, thats going to be something for ever, and it's the same with other higher end cameras, best to just the right procedure to avoid headache.
Komodo X IS camera B. B has more dynamic range. more softening or smoother skin and more flicker from the lights.
Always want to new heat.......it cost though lol. Somewhat will boil down to ones ability to grade red code raw ...... push and pull. Keep having to tell myself i don't have to have the newest to tell a great story or capture. Yeah i'd love to update.
Yeah it’s definitely not necessary to update, but boy does it feel nice when you do lol
Man I have the Komodo and just bought the Komodo X,😑 and I’m already having buyers remorse, the only differences I’m seeing that is a major is the frame rates, smh but anyway I just gotta look at it as I have an A Cam and B Cam, great video bro!
The Komodo X look is similar to the raptor

nah, it's actually a bit slower
you shoot a bit so much wide open it seems. the fotos is out of focus often times in your sample video. both cameras look great but i though camera b was looking better quite a bit
Yeah due to how dark it was at the 2 locations we shot wide open, was also trying to achieve a shallow depth of field, so you can say it was done on purpose 🙌🏾

Yeah there were a few shots on the X that wear a giveaway
I could tell the difference (I favored the B cam more)... But I just guessed that Cam B was Komodo X lmao

I own an OG komodo thinking of pulling the trigger on the X and was thinking of making the og a dedicated gimbal camera how u flying it and powering it?
I fly mine on the RS3 pro with a canon 16-35mm lens, I can keep the BP batteries on and get it balanced with full clearance on the back. Quick and simple to set up
@@FlashForwardmg you by chance use any ND or Matte boxes?
If I’m on a gimbal I use the canon RF to EF mount with a variable slide in ND otherwise it’s always the polar pro mattebox

og komodo skin looks too yellow
You can just correct that by upping the reds in post though
Komodo doesnt make skin yellow, whoever is grading is responsible for that.
og komodo's rec709 is too saturated@@colourberry
@@colourberry not true for me. A simple colour transform from redlog3g10 to rec709 and the skin tones have a golden green yellow look. Also the reds are too saturated, the blues are too purple and the greens are too cyan. It takes a lot of work to get accurate colours. Probably why so many people stuggle with the camera because you cant just chuck on the lut or transform it and the colours be perfect. Its not true unfortunately.
I must note though that this could be a limitation of the gamma curve because when i look at the footage in rec 2020 the colours are more accurate. So rather than a limitation of the camera it could be the compression of the conversion to the gamma 2.4
komodo looks like a gopro compared to X
There's some good deals out there on the original.
Yeah, if the price is right you really can’t go wrong with either option
