Hero's biggest issue is his internalizing of his own feelings for the sake of others. The game makes it abundantly clear that Hero has gotten good at putting on a facade so that he doesn't worry his friends and family. Deep down he and Sunny are very alike. Conceal your feelings if it means your friends' feelings won't be hurt.
also neat little easter egg! the blankets that each of the characters are using while sleeping over at basil's house are direct references to their outfits in head space! Kel's is checkered like his tank top, Hero's is pinstriped like both his top and bottom, and Aubrey's is just a light one toned blanket like her dress. Then there's Sunny with his thick black and white stripes.
Except sunny hides his emotions hero pretends to smile instead You see there's a small difference between not wanting anyone to see you cry and not wanting anyone to worry about you
In a way Kel is like the insane version of that, be happy no matter what. Then again, he makes it a point to stick to the things that unfortunately seem like they can never happen. For example, how they all used to be friends.
Its even reflected in the emotion system. Even if you make Hero Depressed or Furious (2nd tier emotions) his expression barely changes beyond a slightly more intense glare, while the others are bursting at the seams with emotions

@@NoirRival the pictures are in omoris dream world not the real world, so the pictures are not meant to be taken literally they are just meant to show you what happened
Just a quick note in case you haven’t realized yet: the black light bulb symbolizes the repression of an idea (the opposite of a white lightbulb which usually represents an idea) It also glows brighter after anything related to the truth occurs during the story. Sunny destroying the lightbulb is him finally deciding to end his repression of the truth and face it once and for all.
@@gemstonegynoid7475 Strange, on my first playthrough I understood immediately. Basil was already on my mind so the correlation with his grandma, plus the fact that she's still got that distinct flower and grey hair... It was a very sad moment lol. I understand what you mean though
6:35 I think the reason why Mari looked tall here is because she died when Sunny was younger. So he always saw her as his big sister. He doesn't realize how much he's physically grown since her death.
Here's a little detail that I thought was really cool. During the beginning of the game, the menu says: "FIGHT!" and "RUN..." which implies that Sunny/Omori wants to fight. But as you keep going on, and things get more scary, it switches to "FIGHT..." and "RUN!" It's really small but a nice touch.
It seems the "FIGHT... And RUN!" Only applies on scary enemy and the one Sunny doesn't want to face on(?) At the stairs when Sunny want to eat the steak, it says "FIGHT... RUN!" if I'm not mistaken
@@akatopus Actually, it has to do with which menu UI is used, the buttons are hard-coded textures in the game. The menus you see in various segments of the game, in Headspace and in Faraway Town have the "Fight!" and "Run..." buttons. Anytime Sunny is solo, and you see those black UI buttons with the spooky letters, it says "Fight..." and "Run!". So basically, to summarize, anytime Sunny is solo (not counting fighting insects or Jackson), is when you see "Fight..." and "Run!". This makes sense, as Sunny has no courage or power without his friends. But with his friends, he can push himself to do amazing things, like stare down an angry girl with a nail bat for example. Just Kel's presence there gave Sunny the courage to actually step into the fight and even throw punches at her.
looking at the photo album I whas able to figure out 2 things about Basil. he is very insecure, but he can hide what he is feelings really well, while aesily figuring out what others are feeling (based on the poker photo)
12:30ish: Sunny is the personification of the trope called "The Power of Friendship". Sunny can do ANYTHING (almost) as long as his friends are there supporting him. But if he's alone... he's nigh-powerless. His friends were there with him to break the "Piano Room Barrier" and once the barrier was broken, he was able to go in there again. But he wasn't able to break the barrier until he had his friends with him, and the same can be said for anything else in the game. It was Kel's knocking that got him to step outside the house for the first time in four years, it was Kel that gave Sunny the courage to face Aubrey those three times they got into a fight with her, and it was Kel that gave Sunny the courage to actually do stuff like the jobs. If Kel hadn't been there... Sunny wouldn't have been able to do any of that. He absolutely needs his friends, or he can't function.
interesting observation, & it does make sense. one of the first things we learn about "Omori" as a person (& by extension Sunny) is that he doesn't like being alone. that makes everything even worse, when you think about how isolating himself after Mari's death was basically another form of self-harm he was resorting to. he didn't allow others to comfort him when he needed it most, & suffered with all of this for four years... :')
BIG SPOILERS I think that makes it all the more impactful that he has to make the final step on his own, by overcoming Omori and telling his friends the truth.
SPOILERS "They're implying that there's some element of choice, and I hope that's not what's happening" "I hope none of these kids were the one to find her" Oh no. It's worse. It's so much worse. I say this out loud while bursting into tears irl
I love the differences in each playthrough, specifically with the photo of Mari at 38:10 Shenpai: **Doesn't comment on the flash** Her: "Hm... I like that touch of the flash, in the window." Michaela Laws: "Okay- Chat, I know it's just the flash, but! That shine is on her left hand. You know what else could be on you left hand? An engagement ring- Or a promise ring, if it's too early for that!" **Proceeds to make chat cry over Mari**
1:25:00 "Basil taking photos" ... just keep in mind that Sunny is dreaming, dreams are sometimes metaphorical and allegorical. Photos might not be actual photos.
with how kid kel is depicted in the dreamworld as being brash and having no tact, seeing that irl he was emotionally aware(? enough to be like "everyone is suffering from this and i dont know how to help so it would be better for everyone if i stayed out of it" is super interesting. its really sad that he felt he was a bother and not good about it so he had to take those measures but... you know. kels an interesting character but i find that you have to read a bit more between the lines to get him, unlike characters like aubrey and hero where their problems are kinda laid out right in front of the player thinking about it i kinda relate on kels whole moving on too fast from a close ones death, i did that too and it wasnt because i didnt care about the person that died, some people just move on faster than others i guess, dont know whats the psychology behind it but it happens. anyways im rambling just wanted to express my thoughts! this has been a very interesting playthrough and im excited for when you reach the end 💖
Next episode...probably gonna be the last, maybe another if she decides to get more endings to this game, but I just wanna say this game is a rollercoaster, and seeing your view on it has just made it even more of a rollercoaster. This game is actually how I found your channel, and I'm so glad that I did find it because its so interesting to see a counselor/therapist's perspective on this stuff. Thanks :)
47:37 This moment seriously makes me cry every time I see it. The prompt and the music and the picnic all have such a heavy weight behind it, but it's all implied. Such a powerful, beautifully sad scene.
Spoilers: Oh my GOD though the parallels and the foreshadowing between the lake scene and the stair scene is just 👏 “I only meant to push him away” DUDE 💀
MAJOR SPOILERS DONT GO DOWN IF YOU DONT WANT TO BE SPOILED WITH THE ENDING sunny was probably sweating so fucking hard when aubrey said she just meant to push basil away and just got immediate flash backs
Or the fourth or fifth or sixth... or seventh. Hearing other peoples' thoughts on it and seeing them have that same emotional experience that you did, but in their own unique way, really just makes it feel all the worse. But, like, in a good way. Because a game that's able to touch so many people so differently but still so strongly is a really special game! Plus, if you already knows what happens, you start noticing a lot of hints and stuff that you might've missed, before, and that's. Man that sure is a thing, lol.
It gets more depressing because you already know the plot and you notice much more details about it during the gameplay. Such as the jumprope and "You did it!" sign in Orange Oasis' underground maze.
Another fun fact!! In the fight against maris, erm, body at 1:22:11 , it does 143 damage. 143, the number, means i love you. kinda sad, isnt it? also, get ready, you're about to get into the heavy part of this game,
7:29 This happened with my grandmother...I almost didn't make it to her funeral because I didn't even think she was dead...me and my brother were hysterical and we actually developed Folie a deux where we both thought grandma got kidnapped...we became cold almost violent to everyone except each other because we thought that no one believed us...now almost 8 years later...although the delusions are gone, I haven't grieved her yet, I don't want to forget her
Oh look, another episode. I'll go get my popcorn real quick. This is going to be a ride. Edit: Huh... I was kind of hoping for you to do the last side quests and gang moments but I could understand that tempting of continuing the main plot at soon as possible. I was expecting for you to continue the video all the way up to truth album, but it's near and there so I could accept that pause just fine. I'm hyped for the last, or so episode!
I relate to Hero a lot. We both feel the need to be strong for the people we love, and personally, I feel like I’ve never allowed myself grace and time to grieve. People saw that surface level acceptance and called it strength. I didn’t need someone to tell me I was strong, I needed someone to tel me I didn’t have to be. I think Hero needed the same.
Oooh.. love how you worded that. Hero's gotten so used to playing the role of the mature, level-headed "adult" of the group, and put so much into living up to other people's expectations of him, that he's never really considered his own feelings and let himself be vulnerable. Even though he's suffered just as much as his friends have.
You missed soooooooo much One Day Left content like the scene you get when you enter Kel and Hero's room with the full four-person party, nevertheless this is still a good playthrough since you got to know the main story more quickly.
1:02:10 I can’t even begin to imagine what Sunny was thinking here. I actually teared up when you said “Why did Sunny back away?” in such a sad, compassionate voice.
in case you didn't catch it, sunny backed away because he was the one who marked up the photos of mari. both in the fight with basil and in blackspace there's references to him doing it. in blackspace, it's the beach where you interact with photos and they turn into scribbles. with basil, he acknowledges that sunny's something made him do it and that's why he took the blame for the defacement. "i didn't want them to think it was you, sunny"
When the game asks you things like "Do you want to go to the treehouse" or "You can come inside whenever you're ready" it means "Do you want to complete some quests/walk around/save before moving the plot forward."
No matter how many times I watch it, the graveyard scene just gets me, and I think a lot of it is just a testament to how well written the whole thing is. The fact that you're not allowed to bring Hero here until after the photo album is smart in both it makes sense narratively, as now Hero has the support group of all his friends to help him take this step in healing, and it's the most effective spot for the player to be allowed to see it. The photo album is a supremely effective way for the time these people had together with just little bits of flavor text to describe that moment in time. It's as you said in the video, there's a certain feeling of nostalgia for those times that you get even though you, the player, weren't actually there. And so what better time to show the player this tender step in the healing process? And when you do see it, the way it's written is nothing short of masterful. There's not even 15 lines of dialogue, and so the whole thing is underwritten, but it's not understated in the slightest. That nostalgia gives you this personal connection to that time that has passed along with Mari, and so the game doesn't need to say any more than what it does. You have that understanding of what Hero in particular (especially with those portraits) is saying even though a lot of it isn't actually said aloud. And then there's the option to have a picnic with her. Mari and her picnic basket and blanket have always had this importance to Sunny. It's a safe spot, a place to take a break (as seen in Headspace). There's an incredible weight and symbolism to this simple action. And the cherry on top is the silence. They don't need to say anything about their feelings because it's just so implicit in the action itself. It's so good and I struggle to think of other scenes that accomplish so much with so little.
When you have been through this route, the "calm and peaceful" ending of the other route is just super depressing, knowing what is behind all of that, and that the worst things from this route are happened. Truly one of the darkest of the "too close" games I know.
I relate to the commentary on grief in this episode and omori in general. I recently lost my grandma, but never really cried about it. My mom criticized me, saying that even if I felt nothing about the loss I should at least be empathetic to those who do. On top of this, my mom increasingly got mad at me when I felt unmotivated or snappy. It's like she only wanted me to grieve the way she wanted, maybe she thought there was only one real way to grieve. At the funeral, many of my cousins were crying. One of them even went up to the casket to caress her face as she sobbed. I just felt so so anxious, and so scared. I don't know what exactly I was nervous about, but I was way too terrified to even look at the casket from afar. My point is, everyone grieves differently and I really appreciate how this game shows this, and how you commented on it too. Makes me feel validated!
I really like this moment when Sunny destroys the black light bulb and then have an direct encounter with *something* . I really like it because Sunny's finally ready to face all his fears to know the real truth and move on. But right now, there are things left to do. Great video anyway!!! ✨✨✨✨✨👍❤️
52:51 Since you've already beaten the game, you know the answer to this question, but I'm curious what your theories were at this point. Obviously, one of them was that Mari took her own life, but what was the other one? Did you guess correctly?
@@CounselorPlays - a VERY IMPORTANT detail about what comes next, no spoilers of course. The photos you find in this next section have captions like the previous times, but they are hidden in the game files. If you don’t access them, you might misinterpret what’s happening, I definitely did on my playthrough. You might want to look up a way to access them while you play through this next part so you’re able to explain whats happening to the audience and be able to give your final thoughts with as much info as possible
1:04:56 it's Basil's grandma ... (spoiler) remember what the old man at the graveyard said? well, about that ... well, she didn't make it ... (other spoiler) and that's what made Basil break completely ...
7:51 - 9:56 , 11:07 - 11:26 About the toxic positivity of dismissing grief. 21:10 - 24:07 Painful parallel 😭😭😭 The fact that they cut the tree behind Mari's tombstone... I find it so interesting how the narrative manages to hide almost everything about Sunny up to the very end. To this point, there's still so much hidden about himself from himself and, therefore, from us, too.
When I got to 47:40 during my gameplay I actually cried. After spending hours and hours interacting with all these characters in Headspace, you as a player (or at least I did) kind of forget that Mari is not in their real world anymore, but then you reach this point in which you have already seen how truly not okay everyone is and this one sentence feels like the final slap on the face, because /this/ is reality, Mari is really gone forever and all you have (both the group and the player) is a silent grave to share a picnic with. As much as it is just a game, it makes such a good job on putting you on Sunny's shoes. Also, amazing video! Can't wait for the next episode
I know she knows by now, like shes recorded the final probably 1 or 2 videos, but the way shes talking how Mari could've died, and knowing its so much worse, well, her reaction will be something major, honestly this series got me into Omori so theres that, so thank you
just so you know, in the real world there are custom tags between kel, sunny, hero and aubrey, and by the way aubrey tagging kel is the best thing ever. no question
I really appreciate the talk on grief at the start. Not only are people told they're not allowed to exactly get over it how they like, but there's also a stigma for it "taking too long" too, like it's not something that sticks with you for life to a degree (see: Sunny)
I feel like sometimes ppl put to much expectation on Kel. Like yeah not all the things he does in the game are great (church fight) but he is also still a kid and at least he is trying to mend relationships and keep everyone on their feet.
It's also worth noting that when it comes to the church fight that was mainly Sunny and Aubrey's faults. Kel even mentions how they should wait until after, Sunny barges in. Kel says they should stay quite and just get the album back and leave, Aubrey refuses and gets mad, Kel gets mad back because his feelings are hurt, Aubrey tries to leave, Kel says he's not leaving until he gets the photo album back, then Aubrey starts the fight. Kel certainly was apart of the fight, but he did do his best most of the way to avoid making a scene.
"Calm down, persist, overcome". From a videogame perspective, that little moment right there IMO showcases the potential of the medium. It takes you through the actions and makes you part of Sunny's struggle. Powerful storytelling.
I remember one of my early theories about Mari's death was that the scene from when you first wake up as Sunny and Mari is at the door was an actual memory of his, and that somehow him not opening the door for her that night led to her death (or at least that's how Sunny internalized it). I knew it didn't 100% make sense because of how guilty Basil seemed to feel but I couldn't think of anything else that would be so secretive. I.... did not expect where it actually went
What I love about artistic choices made in Omori is how a very good case could be made that there's two Maris. There the one on the picnic blanket that Omori made up for Sunny, but then there's this other one. The one that helps him deal with his panic, the one who turned his entire inner world into fog so she could play with him one more time and apologizes for being selfish (isn't it odd that the one on the picnic blanket never mentions that entire event?), the one on the piano that reflects on how what happened was caused by her mistakes too and asks Sunny to forgive himself. The one that *feels* more real, and less like an almost anime ideal of The Older Sister. Iunno if we're *supposed* to take away that it's Mari's real actual ghost trying to help her brother move on (though that's my preferred headcanon), or if it's just... just the part of Sunny's mind that has Mari's loving supportive voice, if that makes sense. But it's very very different than the personification of the safe lap Sunny napped on that one time, and I find how they do that and *that* they did that so interesting.
50:09 well, you just skipped the entyre day here. there is a lot of interesting things you could do, specially in the lake ;^) I hope you can manage to see it in the future :^P
i feel like one piece of information that wouldve helped you understand why sunny broke the lightbulb in white space is that "the black lightbulb is repression" (i think this is said in a side room you missed in the river area leading up to humphrey). I like to think that at that specific point in the story, sunny no longer wanted to repress the trauma and decided to finally overcome it. Other than that- im super looking forward to seeing the rest of this playthrough! it's been super enjoyable so far hearing all of the little details that you picked up that i never would've unless you pointed it out
I guess the person we've seen on the street vanishing (at 1:05:00) was Basil's grandmother. Or at least Sunny's imagination of what might have happened to her. It's interesting how the game plays with the symbolic meaning of the white egrit orchid ("My thoughts will follow you into your dreams"). Not only is it present when we see Mari's grave, it can also be seen early on in the real world when we go into Basil's grandmothers room. I guess Basil's grandmother died in the hospital, therefore explaining Basil's behaviour when coming home. And it could be that somehow, the white egrit orchid forms a bridge into Sunny's mind, explaining why he saw Basil's grandmother on the street and also why he can't let go of Mari in his dreams.
I totally agree with what you said regarding grief. Everyone processes grief and loss differently, and I think it is important to emphasize that we grieve loss, rather than death specifically, because I think we too closely associate grief with death which can lead to us minimizing our own feelings when grief arises in response to other forms of loss. Losing a friend, for example, can often feel like death. Even if they are still alive, someone has left your life. There are plenty of people who enter our lives, leave an impact, and leave, and it is perfectly normal to feel sad, hurt, by that. Whether you process grief quickly or slowly, inwardly or outwardly, there is nothing wrong with that feeling, with the need to step away from the world for a moment because for you the world just changed, and it is perfectly understandable that you need some time to adjust. That being said, the old psychologist rule of thumb, if your ability to function in life (whatever that may mean to you) is seriously impeded, or a life is in danger (i.e. your own), it is perfectly acceptable to ask for help (from, say, a therapist). While people in the comments have pointed out that the way Hero has been handling his grief doesn't seem entirely healthy, the fact that he is still moving forward with his life, still pursuing his future and supporting his friends, I think is very commendable. That being said, it does seem like his social life has suffered from all this and while I think it is normal for him to still think of Mari all these years later and still get emotional when faced with all these reminders of her (and specifically her death), it is still clear that her death is still fresh in his mind. While he is still functioning in the way society, I think, would expect him too, it definitely seems like his social development has been impeded. :( Sunny, however, has not been coping well... He hasn't spoken to anyone in four years, hasn't left his house even. Just with that alone I would consider him to be someone that does, desperately, need help. Include the hallucinations, the suicidal ideation we see in the dream world, the clear resentment for Basil AND himself, if Black Space is anything to go by, and yeah, I would consider Sunny to not be handling his grief well. (and yes, I know grief isn't the sole thing at play but we still have some story to go so I'm not gonna go too deep into the weeds yet...) EDIT: Edited what I said about Hero a bit. I watched further into your video and caught some dialogue I didn't remember from my playthrough that changed my thoughts. Tl;Dr: Everyone needs therapy. Hahaha
One of the many takeaways from this game is definitely "these kids need professional help, please, someone, anyone, I am begging you, I want them to get better", lol. You leave great comments, by the by, and they're always a pleasure to read!
Destroying the light bulb is a metaphor to wanting to remember. A Lightbulb gives off light, light reveals. A black lightbulb obscures by removing it, it obscures. The black light bulb is symbolisms for Sunny repressing the truth.
You need to do everything after this in one session. It doesn't have to be one video necessarily, but you have to finish the game from this point without any breaks for the full emotional Omori experience.
I love that Mari’s theme is played as they put her pictures back in the photo album. No one really mentions it but I love how they used her theme through the game.
Iabsolutely panicked when i read the title and saw the thumbnail. I connected the two and i was like: "SHE'S COMPLETING THE PHOTO ALBUM ALREADY???" Then i realized it wasn't THAT photo album. Yeah
Bring along paper or napkins to wipe away your tears in the next chapter, it will all make sense. I've seen this video game many times and I can't help crying.
in the next episode, give a HEAVY warning at the start about what you are going to censor and try not heavily censoring them as they are very important but i do get why you would so it's if you want to okay 👍
I only really noticed this watching through, but when they went to the grave and the stump, they comforted Hero more than Sunny. I get he’s like the silent protagonist, but like that’s Sunny’s sister???
Well, in Hero's defense, he was more open with his emotions, and Kel at least was aware of how he'd been struggling to really accept Mari's death, since that was his first time ever visiting her grave. Sunny, on the other hand, has buried his own feelings so deeply that it's probably impossible for his friends to tell how terribly he's been affected by everything; what's more, he barely speaks or emotes. I'm sure they didn't mean to "ignore" him, but he didn't make it seem like he needed to be comforted.
7:05 - *sigh of relief* I was worried you weren't gunna see this! 11:07 - These people pleasing monologues make me feel so seen X;D Thanks so much for this and all the previous ones. Not gunna lie. Stopping at this point FRUSTRATED ME XD But it means we get at least one more episode of Omori!! So excited!!
Since you've already finished the game, are you thinking of making a post-gameplay video compiling all your thoughts & wisdom? There's just _so much_ to unpack from this game alone -- from your first impressions during your blind run, to what tidbits you've come to realize now that the story is done, and even things like thoughts you've gathered upon learning more about the lore/story (should you ever decide to research more to know All The Things), or bits of wisdom & advice regarding themes the game addressed. Idk, it just feels like it'd be _really_ insightful to hear what a therapist has to say about the contents of this game and how it may reflect real-life things. Games like OMORI make me really eager to hear in-depth discussions _outside_ of game mechanics.
just a warning your near the end of the game what you do now will change the ending you get so you got one shot to not mess this up good luck (tip for bad and good ending. go to the bathroom in basils house)
I find it interesting that you somehow missed the dialogue from Daddy Longlegs and other Blackspace-based characters, one of which explains that the black lightbulb in Whitespace represents the repression of the truth. By breaking it, Sunny frees both Basil and his memories of what caused him to form Omori and Headspace in the first place...
I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about all the tense lead-up to this segment of the game (and about how, if it were me, I would've forced my way into Basil's room, out of sheer fear and concern; it's never outright confirmed but still implied that his grandmother passed away), but I don't want to start rambling (yet), so I'll just say that your comments on acknowledging the reasons behind "bad" things being done without condoning said things (and that you shouldn't define yourself by those things) were really interesting. That whole situation with Aubrey and Basil was a great example of foreshadowing--it plants that li'l nugget in your head, but you might not even give it much thought until later when it becomes relevant again, and it's like "oh... oh, wow." Can't wait to hear all your thoughts in the next episode, which I'm assuming will be the last. From the sound of it, you might've already had an idea of what really happened, at this point, with all the subtle (and not-so-subtle) hints the game has given you, especially this last day, but I guess I'll see!
I know you’re already done playing Omori, but I really recommend going back to look around the town before heading to Basil’s house. Almost every area has a picnic-like scene and there’s and extra combat area that’s really fun.
21:15 having played the game and seeing this scene... its so crazy bc it perfectly mirrors what sunny went through. i love this game so so much for little details like these.
I'm happy you're this far in the game even tho it's a bit sad it's almost the end. Omori is a great masterpiece that really plot twist you in the end and the more you analyze it the more you understand every details, thanks for your remarks and how you interpret everything

So I wasn’t just imagining the lightbulb looking somewhat different at times?
@@theSkin_of_a_Killer_Bella i didn´t even noticed

I'm sad how every streamer is confused about the random ghost in the streets when really it's basil's grandma who died in the hospital 😔
I thought it was pretty obvious considering she was on her death bed, and getting sent to the hospital was a good chance she wasnt going to make it.
didnt realize that. we never saw basil's grandma standing up. so we wont recognize her.
I didn't realize that. My only thoughts were "Girl get out of the road you will get hit"
I think it could be her yknow dead if you know what I mean…
it's bc her body was found from the tree, since it's his guilt eating at him in a sense thats how he sees it
Here's a little detail that I thought was really cool.
@@Dhalin ahh makes sense!
Mari at 2:20 : "Maybe I pushed you too hard."
Sunny: 👁👄👁
Sunny: "Right back at ya."
Bruh these people 🤦♀️😂😂
looking at the photo album I whas able to figure out 2 things about Basil.
he is very insecure, but he can hide what he is feelings really well, while aesily figuring out what others are feeling (based on the poker photo)
How this comment wasn't booming yet
I will help you
interesting observation, & it does make sense. one of the first things we learn about "Omori" as a person (& by extension Sunny) is that he doesn't like being alone. that makes everything even worse, when you think about how isolating himself after Mari's death was basically another form of self-harm he was resorting to. he didn't allow others to comfort him when he needed it most, & suffered with all of this for four years... :')

with how kid kel is depicted in the dreamworld as being brash and having no tact, seeing that irl he was emotionally aware(? enough to be like "everyone is suffering from this and i dont know how to help so it would be better for everyone if i stayed out of it" is super interesting. its really sad that he felt he was a bother and not good about it so he had to take those measures but... you know.
kels an interesting character but i find that you have to read a bit more between the lines to get him, unlike characters like aubrey and hero where their problems are kinda laid out right in front of the player
thinking about it i kinda relate on kels whole moving on too fast from a close ones death, i did that too and it wasnt because i didnt care about the person that died, some people just move on faster than others i guess, dont know whats the psychology behind it but it happens. anyways im rambling just wanted to express my thoughts! this has been a very interesting playthrough and im excited for when you reach the end 💖

This game doesn't get any less depressing your second or third time around, and I'm experiencing that firsthand
It actually gets more depressing.
It’s actually a lot worse the second time around!
I decided to play it twice. THAT WAS A HORRIBLE DECISION.

More like a rollercoaster, because it more accurately describes my mental state while playing this game
what u doin here 😰

The "Do you want to have a picnic with Mari?" broke me 😭
I relate to Hero a lot.
Yeah... maybe not so quickly because she made so much things after 1 day left. She just go more quickly in the final for curiosity, probably.
The ending of this game always hurts...
When you have been through this route, the "calm and peaceful" ending of the other route is just super depressing, knowing what is behind all of that, and that the worst things from this route are happened.
Truly one of the darkest of the "too close" games I know.
“I pushed you too hard”
So did sunny

21:10 - 24:07 Painful parallel 😭😭😭
The fact that they cut the tree behind Mari's tombstone...
I find it so interesting how the narrative manages to hide almost everything about Sunny up to the very end. To this point, there's still so much hidden about himself from himself and, therefore, from us, too.
Bless you for making those timestamps!
Nice detail: When Basil was nervous about looking at the photos, he didn't know Aubrey had cleaned them. He didn't want them to see what had happened.
I feel like sometimes ppl put to much expectation on Kel. Like yeah not all the things he does in the game are great (church fight) but he is also still a kid and at least he is trying to mend relationships and keep everyone on their feet.
Kel didn't start the fight
@@itsoracle That too.
50:09

i feel like one piece of information that wouldve helped you understand why sunny broke the lightbulb in white space is that "the black lightbulb is repression" (i think this is said in a side room you missed in the river area leading up to humphrey). I like to think that at that specific point in the story, sunny no longer wanted to repress the trauma and decided to finally overcome it. Other than that- im super looking forward to seeing the rest of this playthrough! it's been super enjoyable so far hearing all of the little details that you picked up that i never would've unless you pointed it out
That Something battle still makes my stomach churn, the sound design using the Shepard's tone and the sprite work and everything else.
Sunny, however, has not been coping well...
(and yes, I know grief isn't the sole thing at play but we still have some story to go so I'm not gonna go too deep into the weeds yet...)
EDIT: Edited what I said about Hero a bit.

I wasn't ready for this game to destroy me again, I missed that last picnic with Mari as Sunny ;_;
And how hurts because the player has to end it-
I only really noticed this watching through, but when they went to the grave and the stump, they comforted Hero more than Sunny.
It seems you are about to learn the truth. I only have four words for you. Only read these after you completed the game.

22:36 Thats a great point that will be relevant soon.
I'm happy Aubrey wasn't banned from the church
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE, TUURN IT UP
this channel really has grown quickly since the beggining of her playing OMORI I think I started watching when she had like 2k subs?
47:36
this part here ... how can I say ... it just broke me ...
I was watching Episode 29 in the morning and this came.
Perfect timing!
1:13 Dear god, just realized that Basil is the dark lightbulb in this scene.Make so much sense...
And so it begins
Basil covered up Hector pooping in the background of that photo :P
I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about all the tense lead-up to this segment of the game (and about how, if it were me, I would've forced my way into Basil's room, out of sheer fear and concern; it's never outright confirmed but still implied that his grandmother passed away), but I don't want to start rambling (yet), so I'll just say that your comments on acknowledging the reasons behind "bad" things being done without condoning said things (and that you shouldn't define yourself by those things) were really interesting. That whole situation with Aubrey and Basil was a great example of foreshadowing--it plants that li'l nugget in your head, but you might not even give it much thought until later when it becomes relevant again, and it's like "oh... oh, wow."
Can't wait to hear all your thoughts in the next episode, which I'm assuming will be the last.
YOOOOOO
I'm so proud of you for almost finishing it
HYPED FOR HOW THIS’LL GO!!!!
21:15 having played the game and seeing this scene... its so crazy bc it perfectly mirrors what sunny went through. i love this game so so much for little details like these.
im so excited for yoou to finish it. its a super hard ending mentally but its an ending that was needed
Man, missing talking to the Branch Coral really does a number on this section, where you learn what the Black Light Bulb acutally is.
I'm happy you're this far in the game even tho it's a bit sad it's almost the end. Omori is a great masterpiece that really plot twist you in the end and the more you analyze it the more you understand every details, thanks for your remarks and how you interpret everything
