Thank you so much for this video! I experimented with houses along a road with the services on the same road (all in a row), thinking that it must be more efficient than a 9x9! However, I never put them in a loop. Will try your solution immediately.

Thanks, i'm glad to help. The 22x6 is the most efficient loop design due to utilising returning walker to cover rest of the loop as i explained. So with this you will be getting maximum population density for one set of services.

Thank you!! soo helpful. I especially love the idea of how you placed your granary and warehouse for goods. Definately going to try this next.

Great video! It was very helpful, I'm following along here with the game paused, lol. I have a question, How do we rotate the warehouse-like in the video (05:39)?

Hey, you can setup a hotkey in the Augustus settings. I think defeault is R. Only certain buildings have rotations but it helps since traders and maket ladies as well as carters preffer to interact with the roofed tile.

@@commissarmarek Thanks bro! Yea it’s annoying to watch a warehouse full of goods and the trader complain “this place never sells nothing” lol

Yeah, we used this (22 x 7) 25 years ago when the game first came out. 4 rows of 20 houses each, gardens and fountains down the center between the housing rows. Works well. Have 2 markets on either end to support everyone. Haven't played this in nearly 20 years. Dusting this off and playing again (Augustus version).

Very nice...I don't have Augustus version but I think I'll show the kids this design and see how it works. Thanks for sharing!

Just got Augustus and wanted to update my blocks from the standard 9x9. I always thought it was weird basing the block design to maximise the fountain, when that doesn't matter at all really compared with other things. I look forward to giving these two new blocks a go in your reconquered campaign maps!

@@commissarmarek Thanks! That will be very useful when I get to Lugdunum. As I remember my last playthrough I used some real nasty beasts of blocks on that map :-D

When there's little space I like going with blocks that are 7x14, or sometimes 7x18. Not quite as efficient as yours, but there's enough room in them for nice looking decorations :)

why aren't there any prefectures and no fires?

    • @commissarmarek
      @commissarmarek  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

When its a northern map there is no fire risk, crime also does not really get impacted by prefects the only way to stop it is to provide jobs and standard of living.
Otherwise if its a central map i recommend 2 prefects per 22x6 block since one can get stopped by criminals and that can cause fires.
On a desert you want 3 prefects per 22x6 and some more fountains but thats ok, its just a little extra worker tax.

Hah i use 8x16 or 9x17 blocks when i want the fountains to be nicely centered. In this case, exactly 20 2x2 houses are obtained. I played Caesar 3 in 1998 (omg). A month and a half ago I decided to play Caesar 3 again. Surprisingly, this old piece of shit gave me pleasure.
I used random mod augustus version 1.31. Yes, I know there are newer versions, but I don't care. First I went through all the military missions. The civilians turned out to be much more difficult. Then I activated all the additional options of the mod (global labor pool, etc.) and finally went through them all, for the first time in 25 years. I even passed the damn Lugdunum, it was the last one.
In my opinion, the most difficult and interesting missions are Mediolanum, Carthago and Caesarea.
I remember exactly that 25 years ago I fought off all the attacks of Caesar's legions. Maybe I'll make him angry again and fight back using only 6 forts.

Middle houses wont be supplied by fountain water during guide, cause this type of climate grants you 9x9 water cells around fountain, and now look closer, there is 2x2 blocks of houses that alocated between fountain's supply. But after, we can see gameplay with 20 houses in row (no 22!). Is it mistake of numbers? Or what?

Including roads its 24x8 layout. Without roads its 22x6 i think i made a mistake there with the fountain. In any case fountain costs 4 workers which compared to a whole ser of services like theater school etc is nothing. On desert maps 22x6 takes 6 fountains but has 3x the poo cap of 9x9. For further informatiin you should watch my how to deal with rough terrain video where i explain it in more detail.
