New to BMW - but not new to changing oil. This video helped me to be unintimidated to doing this myself, once the 3 year BMW maintenance plan is up. I also drive a 2023 BMW 330e that I plan to keep for at least 5 years and hopefully more. Thank you.
@@beb1527 Awesome!! Glad this was helpful!! That's the point for sure. Never be intimidated with the European cars, most of the time they are built better and easier to maintain. Glad it was helpful. please sub for more content !
@@talkingwithcars you aren't kidding. I'm used to having to change the oil filter from underneath the car, besides being awkward when the car is on ramps, there's no real way to do it without getting something dirty.
What i found out, there is regional differences in oil type. In Finland it is BMW longlife-19 FE, you can find this spec from Castrol edge 0w-30. I have 2021 330e X-drive with B48A engine. Thanks for good video
@@aor3200 interesting for sure !! It's amazing to see how different the oil choices can be based on the region you live, temperatures, age of the vehicle etc. thanks for the input !!
@@WatchfulListener ok. 18,500 miles about. seems high. i personally would do it every 15k miles or 24k Km maximum. that's me. with synthetic oil. what year is your 330?
@@WatchfulListener i suppose the one thing you consider is this is a plug in so the total miles are shared with your petrol conventional engine and the electric motor. so in actuality , the motor doesn't see as many miles as shown. if you check your app it should show the split in KM and we might find it's ok.
You should be changing the oil every 10,000 kms or annually (whatever comes first). There is a good reason no other car manufacturer recommends such insanely long intervals...
@ I think 10k kms is very early. yearly I would agree with. don't forget, this particular car is a plug in hybrid so the electric motor is taking on 1/2 the driving miles.
@@talkingwithcars ok thank you I heard it was linked to the car keys the service history etc and needed a dealer to put into the I drive it's been service. Thank you for clarifying
After seeing this video it seems easier since the oil filter is on top, but now knowing all this after your video why does BMW charge sooo much for oil change 🤔
On my vehicle, the recommended interval appears to be 11000 miles or 17700 km. So in my eyes…..you are in a good spot. But always refer back to your owners manual or speak to the manufacturer’s service department. Just to ask questions. Best wishes.
@@BellaDenis-q8t I would agree , but remember , the miles on your 330e are not all ICE miles. Depending on your EV driving miles, the ICE could be only 40-60% of the total miles completed. So in actuality, 18000km is really only 9,000km.
@@BellaDenis-q8t the 330i is only the ICE (internal combustion engine) and the 330e has the addition of an electric motor. for the 330e, the car can run just on the electric motor alone, providing you with much better gas mileage. Same Horsepower and Torque.
Thanks for the video. I did exactly this and now the oil filter housing is leaking very slowly. I think that I did everything correctly including the 18-foot lbs of torque on the filer housing. I am fairly mechanically inclined so I can not understand why this is happening. This is my first BMW, FYI. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Sometimes you may think that the plastic filter cover is all the way down and it’s not. Secondly, is the O ring in the correct spot on the plastic housing cover ? If you still have issues….you may want to bring it to BMW to ensure nothing more serious is wrong.
Do you know if I take the oil filter housing off without draining the oil is that canister filled with oil? I am thinking of getting another one with O ring and trying it again but do not want to create a big mess. @@talkingwithcars
@@recker1 in my opinion you should be able to take the oil cap off without a mess. I don’t believe it’s pressurized and most of oil will drain to pan. Then you can replace the O ring or place entire cap with new O ring
I am embarrassed to say that I added too much oil. I added 6.0 liters when I should have added only 5.3 liters. Initially, I thought that it was coming from the oil filter housing, but now I am not sure. It is hard to tell. Do you think that adding the additional .7 liters would cause a leak? I am not sure what to do next. Any ideas? Thank you. @@talkingwithcars

In eu is not recommended same viscosity like usa . 5w-30
intresting...what is the viscosity setup for EU?
In Belgium the interval is every 30.000km. and mine engine is also very loud, even when driving.
