    It's nice to find a PC that didn't get dropped out a window and ran over by a car....that they don't want to sell for $200. You didn't even need to bust out the mighty powers of the chair desk to get it working.

    You don't abuse the computers with Pool Noodle, you are just sending them messages using Morse Code that highly suggests that they start working properly

    Excellent video, and good to see the chair desk proudly displaying those SFF PCs.

    The beep codes were related to RAM. Someone probably took the RAM out and then whoever tested it got the codes and assumed it was junk. Or, if it already had RAM it was a bad RAM stick. HP computers can be picky about the RAM you put in sometimes.

    Great video as always! I bought one of these to investigate its re-casing potential for $54 equivalent, eventually decided instead to donate it to my cousin to replace his dying chromebook. Very solid machines and much better than the soldered on Celeron/Athlon machines available brand new for 5x the price. It's interesting that this model doesn't use HP's proprietary motherboard connector, weird since almost all the other Prodesks from this time use something non-standard.

      @LowcastleTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, I'm glad you're liking the videos! And good eye on the motherboard connector! You are right, most of the Prodesk and Elitedesks have that stupid 6 pin proprietary thing.

    More like a "box of FUNK" ..LOL. I sure hope you're grabbing-up gen8 and up parts, because the WIN11 migration hysteria approaches quietly and 90% of normies have no idea. The prices are already climbing as sellers know what's coming, and know what they have. I personally don't even look at pre-gen8 parts anymore, as they will have limited resale value in the very near future, love your stuff bro... keep on keepin' on.

    Just bought a optiplex sff with a i5 6600 and nothing else in it, because I hate myself. This thing has been sitting in my spare bedroom on the floor mocking me from the safety of it's box. Little does it know but judgment day is near. I'm thinking....chair desk... pool noodle...2nd story window. That should appease the July 4th gods.
    But seriously, I did get a optiplex, it does suck rn but it will be fun to fix it up for a cheap emulator PC. Anyways happy 4th of July, keep the videos coming. Your doing the lords work

    These machines are actually pretty good for Linux desktop or even for a home lab server. I do wish someone was making a vid card with decent performance, low price, no added power connector and single slot width for SFF machines like this one. Sadly, the GT1030 and the RX6400 cards are way over-priced for what they are. The only other options I see out there are based off 10 year old GPUs.

    • @LowcastleTech
      @LowcastleTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I'm definitely with you on that. The additional power connectors especially trip me up, when even the larger MicroTower models of a lot of the office PCs don't have those types of connectors. If there was a low cost option like you describe these machines would be like ultimate-super budget, as it is usually trying to work in the GPU that drives the majority of the cost.

      @@LowcastleTech You know I am a retired Coca-Cola man, I began as a point of sales merchandiser, became a route salesman , etc. ,etc. You would do well with a merchants store with your following, or even auction some of your builds.) If you could part with them, hey you could auction the holy grail (ChairDesk), lol. awe, ohno the humanity, the blasphemous. I flew too close to the ChairDesk! lol

    The thing I hate about these type of devices is you get so few bays for storage. Re-purposing that class of a machine as a NAS isn't worth the effort.
    Retro-gaming - remember PCem.

    • @LowcastleTech
      @LowcastleTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      🙂 Yeah I plan on doing something like that down the line. The only thing is that I wanted to wait for the price of some of the better CPUs for it to come down, but that could be awhile. Maybe I can figure out a way to work it into a vid without a higher-end CPU. The other components aren't as bad, just most of the processors are still up there.
