I just watched the Netflix doc on him and it seemed he did a very good job quashing and punishing anyone who tried to out him with his cutthroat lawyer. This seemed to scare people sufficiently to watch what they said. Then having the police in one jurisdiction just not follow through on a complaint made against him was criminal.
The guy was a smarmy master manipulator and sociopathic criminal who ran his sexually abusive scam for a long time and traumatized a lot of people. On top of it was seen as a selfless hero because of all his charity work and volunteering.

As an American, I've been following the Savile saga for quite a few years now. You guys have an independent film maker (sorry, I don't remember the guy's name, but I believe he also did some documentaries on child trafficking and the Isle of Wight) who theorized -- with quite a bit of startling, circumstantial evidence -- that Savile was involved in the Yorkshire Ripper's crimes. If true, that would NOT surprise me.
BTW, has anybody else ever noticed that Savile's name contains both "evil" and "vile" within it? I always found that more than a bit strange, but never heard anybody else comment on it. That leaves me wondering, was "Savile" his real name? I somehow doubt it. And, of course, that would make his choice of surname purposeful. These people just can't help sticking it in our faces and shoving it down our throats. Time to return the favor.

I think that people with certain sensitivities can not only tell that there is something weird about creepy perpetrators, whether they are conscious of it or not. I also believe that there is a strange phenomenon that such people have to blurt out things about such people, only to find out they were spot on, later on. Seth Macfarlane and Johnny might have this knack or curse as such a thing does exist. There are also things a person can pick up by just being privy to seeing a person’s behavior when they are aware that others are watching, but not necessarily the whole world is.

They were embarrassed and you could hear that they didn't know how to deal with the famous 'Jimmy'...not like that today, they were very different times.

Period.

Why do people revere or look up to someone just because they’ve appeared on our televisions and got paid well to entertain us for the duration?
they’re not important and there’s nothing more special about them than anyone else on this earth
If you want to revere anybody give a thought for our nurses, doctors, charity workers emergency services or armed forces etc, people that actually benefit our lives, and not a transmittable electronic image of a person that doesn’t know, will never know, or even care whether you exist or not
