It looks like the entire media has dropped the story, because it involved high profile people. What happened to the victims and ruling class that he was servicing? What happened to justice and free press? BBC should do the follow up in order deliver justice.

It's amazing how these people (Mark Thompson) go from being the head of the BBC straight in to a senior position elsewhere isn't it. Like butterflies going from flower to flower, sucking out the nectar, whilst the rest of us scrimp, scrape and fight amongst the leaf litter on the forrest floor. I think I might try to write an 'Animal Farm' for the 21st century!

That Sue woman actually stood there, watched an act of abuse, and did nothing about it??? Why didn't she report it like any decent, law-abiding, human being would have done??? I hope she was sacked!!!!

This is not an issue of "sexual attraction", it is abuse of power which is what rape and pedophilia is.

  • @Radagast-

They were not "different times," in the sense that the age of consent was 16, as it is now, and has been since 1885. Also, rape and indecent assault were crimes pursuant to the 1956 Sexual Offences Act. The idea that the "social mores" of a group of tv celebrities somehow overrides the Law is fucking laughable!
It was not that witnesses failed to come forward because they thought Savile's conduct was ok. They stayed silent for fear of retribution, and it is clear that Savile used dismissal as a threat against potential whistleblowers at Broadmoor Hospital.
I have heard reports of others raising concerns at the BBC and being told by line managers to forget about it if they wanted to keep their jobs. This culture of fear is still in place, today, and this will happen again.
