Always make sure you can loosen the fill plug before you drain the oil, so you don't leave your gearbox without oil in case you're unable to get it loose...
YEA my Ti has over 230 Tausends Km it Runs like New 😘 i never change the Gear Oil but i refill oil on the Engine evry 600Km and now since a year i use 15w40 it runs Great too 1.6 Fuel Motor
You are wasting your money changing your oil every 400 miles,,If you do the average of 10 thousand miles every year ,And it cost about 50 pounds for oil and a filter,,It's costing you over 600 pounds per year just for oil and filter changes,,,That's insane,,,Also 15w40 oil is for on highway truck engines,,,Like big 12 and 15 litre Diesel engines,,,Your car engine takes 5w 30 or 5w40 oil,,,That oil is way to thick for the tolerances of that engine,,Esp, in winter time,,,15w 40 has the consistency of thick honey,,,It will destroy your oil pump and will take about 2 minutes just to get to the head,,,,

Alternatively, you can use the breather located on the gear selector. It has a small black plug inserted at the top, clearly visible after removing the battery and unscrewing its base. The hole is much smaller, so it will take longer to pour oil this way, but access is much easier. I haven't changed the oil there yet, but I have poured an enrichment additive there.
I did this today to my own 1.4tb. I used Redline MT-90 fluid as apparently it helps with the difficult 1st gear. It indeed has smoothed out the gear change. Very expensive oil however... Oh I didn't need to remove the battery or anything else but I have a good collection of different socket attachments and I was careful not to knock anything.
My local Alfa specialist advise me to go with 2.2 lit and 75 W80 oil, so far shifting is smooth and precise, even before with old oil form 2nd to 3th gear was small sticking, now is ok. Is there something wrong with this specs. and can I do harm to gearbox with this oil now ? @@arcgarage
There is a guy IgoRR from the Alfaowner forum who sells great short shifters. They are just a tad shorter than standard but without the rubber. So you get a nice tight shifter without the incredible short stroke of a real short shifter.. I bought a short shifter for my ex Fiat Punto Evo (mulitiair) and it was a bit too sporty, not comfy anymore. Now I have the shifter from IgoRR from the forum. Haven't had the time to install it, but it is nothing more than remove the battery, undo the older shifter and in with the new. I'll do an oil gear oil change together with that.
Ehhhk, they need to employ seasoned mechanics in the design room! This car is a nightmare to work on…I want top mounted screw-on external filters and access holes for drain plugs!!

Very helpful. Bit more involved than normal box oil changes.
Do you know if it's a similar process for the tct gearbox?
Thank you, it is, I would have to check that out

Hi,
Do you have a tutorial for an Alfa 159 automatic, 2.4L JDTM?
Hi, no
Next sunday i’ll do this to my giuly, bought bardahl MTF + T&D additive two days ago.
Great vid. Cheers! And nice wheels! Are they from a 159 and 18in? And do they have the same offset to fit straight on the G without spacers etc?
Thanks, yes they are from 159 and it is a straight fit, these are even on a bit bigger tires and I have no issues
Thank you this vid helped me out a lot
No problem. Glad it helped
I have a question, why when people change gearbox oil put some extra oil, from 2 liters to 2.2 liters. btw, excellent channel.
Thanks, I would stick to specifications

Have you been thinking of installing a shortshifter? If yes, would be awesome to see a video in the future ;)
Possibly, I wasn't really thinking about it

Pozdrav, jeste
Hello, how long it takes the whole change?
Hi, 30 min to an hour
If you have the correct tools yes an hour but for me it took a couple of hours as not much space to work even after removing battery and leads.
dont have any expierence with cars but i will follow these steps to save myself some money!! hope it works hahahaha
Make sure you brink some tools and a bit of confidence
And a lot of patience
Is it the same procedure for diesel engines?
Yes , same gearbox on all Giulietta
Thanks!
Welcome
