The bayonet was more of a psychological thing for the Japanese. Even early in the war they where kind of impracticable. They had oversized ones and fixed on a rifle it made them a few inches taller then an average Japanese man. But they did it to make every soilder even ones from humble backgrounds have a connection to the Samurai Bushido mind set. So much so, most would think they where doomed if they didn't have a bayonet
Rost Mandzak This. The bayonet in the Japanese army, along with the Korean army, which had a carbon copy mindset of the Japanese army up until the 1960’s, had been practicing standardized bayonet training for all soldiers long after they were considered obsolete. This is mainly because east asian armies in general consider physical superiority to be a core part in winning a war. Mostly because this part of Asia was a sword wielding warrior society than having a real military. My father served in the navy, and to my surprise he got bayonet training as well, he showed it to me with an airsoft gun after a few drinks, and i have to say, it looks fucking impressive. Probably why they will never get rid of their bayonets.

You might want to look up the origins of the Lancaster machine gun? The British are doing a little of what you're saying with the Germans at the beginning of the war
My great grandfather was Hungarian. He fought in the Eastern front. He had a mg34 and drove a half track. He fought in Normandy and had a VG1-5 when his rifle was destroyed. He was captured by the Russians later and was not killed since he also spoke Russian.
Other difference between the MP-3008 ans the Sten : at the end of the conflict, some MP-3008s had a wooden stock, to reduce utilization of rare metal resources.
The sights on the early model Type 99 aren't necessarily just for windage or elevation, they are also anti-aircraft sights. The rifle was designed in a time where aircraft were slow enough that a battalion of troops could raise their rifles to the sky and act as a mobile anti-aircraft battery. So the Japanese, in their infinite wisdom, took the time and effort to make sights capable of targeting aircraft and slapped them on their rifles. Also, the late war bayonets manufactured by the Japanese had two mounting holes so that they could be distributed to civilians to be mounted on bamboo poles and used as lances. Wild times to be Japanese.
The last ditch version of the Kar98K rifles that the Germans used was very similar to the Last ditch Arisaka rifles, and the Japanese also used last ditch grenades made from actual pottery.
The last-ditch type 99 is actually a decent rifle, I have several myself and the ones produced at Kokura were made well and shoot well but even the crudest from any manufacturer are still safe, only those that believe the old myths about them being dangerous keep that debate alive.
Yeah but at least in unturned the crappy rifle can hold 5 rounds. That thing was single-shot. One soldier with a thompson can whipe out an entire trench lol.
Ali ACE It definitely was more than a match, higher magazine capacity, very powerful round, and semi automatic function meaning faster fire rate and good accuracy in a practical sense

Sten adaption is quite clever considering the sten was able to use Mp40 ammunition for commandos who would run out of their standard ammo.
stens and mp40s were chambered in the same round? interesting, had no idea
@@anactualalpaca7016 that was the intention so commandos could rearm themselves with mp40 ammo.

The last-ditch type 99 is actually a decent rifle, I have several myself and the ones produced at Kokura were made well and shoot well but even the crudest from any manufacturer are still safe, only those that believe the old myths about them being dangerous keep that debate alive.
