Yo Matt, in case you haven’t hear ship 28 and booster10 are gonna stack. Love the content keep up the good work. You should do a HLS mission with a actually fuel depot and starship tankers.
The "missing payload" thing has happened to me several times. What happens, is the fairing doesn't seem to protect everything from heat... a good way to check if this happens, is the flight report.
Moreover, it seems that the fairing does not protect docking ports at the moment. My workaround was to add a heat shield with a decoupler at the top while being inside the fairing to prevent this to happen. Then I just decouple the heat shield once in orbit.
I don't think this is what happened here, at launch there's no monopropellant so I think it was user error, just really don't understand how it happened though lol
It could also be building the payload inside those multiple cargo bays. In my case I got part of a sat built on top of the bay attachment points. So in my case the sat never detached, in your case it can be that you took it away. A procedural bay like that one could really help.
An appropriately kerbal landing! ("This is your captain speaking, please buckle your seat belts. We are about to begin the centrifuge portion of our flight.")
Oh gosh... You recreated Uragan! (Energiya 2) 😍🔥 I tried to recreate it into Stock KSP1 full scale but it was a bit laggy after trying to make the boosters reusable tahnks to my potato laptop 😅 very nice to see it recareated in KSP2! It surely was so much easier to make the wings similar to the concept But already from the thumbnail I can see that you took some freedom of making it with the crew on the nose cone (I don't remember it like that) 😅
10:55 like every craft does this when you rendevous right now, when they get loaded in they keep whatever torque was being applied when they got loaded but their SAS get's turned off so all my stations just keep spinning out of control as soon as I approach to dock but it's fine just ] [ over to it and turn its sas to prograde or whatever
Man when we send anything to space, it either fucks up immediately or does twenty times more then expected of what its goal was, ingenuity, multiple rovers, some shuttles, some satellites, but other times it fails so badly that it feels absurd that it’s even possible to do so poorly
space is hard.. one small issue or even a single character in the wrong spot in a line of code can pretty much render something useless. you can also see a huge correlation of issues tied around things being rushed and/or budgets being cut instead of letting people do their jobs to make sure things are done right.
@@sirmonkey1985 hopefully as we figure out AI we can use it to skim through code very quickly, that’d probably help even if only a little. The engineering mistakes are massive too
Love this! Would love to see more on a series dedicated to some of the wild prototype ideas. Especially some of those in the Mustard videos if you have seen those 😄
12:09 Happened to me multiple time with ksp2's cargo domes, seems like you have to assemble your cargo bay in a very specific order in order to make it aerodynamic. Had to relaunch a mission 7 times because of this exact bug. My space station module kept blowing up/detaching during ascent and had to switch to regular fearings to make it to orbit.
The payload disappearing happened to me a LOT when i tried to do the "Land a 200 ton vehicle on Minmus" mission. I decided to fly a fat truck plus a refuieling station to Minmus, but the Truck, that was connected with a docking port inside the Pyload Bay, kept teleporting itself to the bottom of the VAB and into dozens of singular pieces that were not held together by a root part and not part of the launch assembly. So if there's any chance to find your space station module, it was probably left behind in the VAB, some Kerbal forgot the payload integration part 😂
I really hate to complain because you’re such a kind person, but I’m super bummed about the frequency of the tutorials. They started out so strong and it was the first time I’ve actually finished missions. Last week’s tutorial fizzled out with little content, and then nothing again this Saturday. I know you have other interests on this channel, but it’s difficult to learn something when it’s so infrequently offered. It just doesn’t seem like your hearts in it.
This could be an effective way to transport entire space stations. You fly up the ship, dock it with the station, then you get the COM all evened out. Refuel the ship and then transport it whereever. Then you can reuse the ship since its basically an SSTO
2:19 nice video as always matt! however I just wanted to point out that the energia boosters having four nozzles really doesn't have much to do with the soyuz rocket. The energia booster's RD-170 engines were a super high performance kerolx staged combustion engine whereas the RD-107/108 engines on the soyuz rockets are a rather low teach basic open cycle engine. The RD-170 was the pinnacle of soviet engineering whereas the RD-107/108 was literally the engine that started the soviet space program. In fact the RD-170 is so high performance that the RD-180 on Atlas-V american rocket 1st stage is basically the RD-170 cut in half. Thus the two nozzles. So...yeah, besides the fact that they are soviet kerolx engines with four nozzles, that is where the similarities pretty much end.
so, for the boostes you need an airfield with 4 landing strips? as far as i have seen planes landing they usually clear the runway before the next one comes in :D
If I turn my screen to the brightest setting the video looks very overexposed in Kerbin daylight but I can see the craft in pretty good detail on the dark side of the planet. With brightness on a setting that does not burn my retina everything looks normal. Not sure if it is TH-cam messing with your footage or people not having their screen on a proper brightness setting that causes the video to look dark. Anyway, great landing, I rate it 13/10.
I feel that the ad for ground news just added insult to injury. Hi Matt. I’m trying to build a Ssto to orbit but am struggling to calculate how much fuel to put in so that the COM and COL are in the correct spots for re entry. What do you do to know how much fuel will be in the ssto at re entry so it doesn’t spin?
6:05 - bro you had the space station module built and ready to go.. uhm, but somehow you seperated it along with jeb, and you killed him, look at the top right, jeb must've been placed in the station docking part of the energia 2
Matt how in the world do you get the heat shield tiles to show up on your wings and spaceplane parts in ksp2? I can't figure it out and google is incredibly worthless. Love your videos!

never heard that sentence before, but it´s one of my favourites now. Great slogan.
The Energia 2 is one of my favorites because the folding wings are so cool.
So I am currently making a larger version of this out of the XL parts. Frustrating, but a lot of fun! Thank you for the inspiration!

I still miss how the old kerbals looked, and it's not just nostalgia.
I wish KSP2 had triggers tied to a timer component that can be linked to other timers. Would make for cool recovery. Also sensor-tied triggers.
I think that ksp1 had something similar in the breaking ground expansion but yeah it would be nice if we also had those things in ksp2.
